After his huge success early in 2014 with "Toys" he's finally back presenting the first track out of his upcoming debut Album "Lighthouse". "Could Be" is the name and it's a stomper! Tension builds in the intro.. a lulling vocal comes in and the drop turns "Could Be" into what can only be explained as "bassline monster" that crawls through the track! On the flip we have invited man of the moment Hybris turning a past Friction favorit "Things Inside" upside down. Hard, twisted and impressive how the remix switches between rolling and hitting. There's a certain art to reflipping previous clubhits and making them club suitable all over again. Mango is such a rare banger that has been elevated to a drum n bass cut for this release. Kisser compliments the A side destroyer with a more positive vibe on the B side.

Moody and atmospheric, good old days takes us back to the 1997 where things began to twist into something slightly more edgy. A Faint saxophone highlight the mix, adding an even more haunting edge to proceedings.

HLZ solo effort for XX010 is the slightly more aggressive cousin to Good Old Days, skittering drums and atmos play against the warping bass. A touch of warmth is given to the track with the female refrain, a great example of HLZ as a producer.

The pair take it right back to the classic jungle era with Makes Me Wonder. Classic breaks play against one in another in the form of edits, huge 808s and reese's underpin the drums as we are reminded why this was such a classic era!

Chris SU's remix of 'Captured In Time' is ridiculous! All the big guns have jumped on this and once again BCee does what he does best and that's run one of the best Liquid labels in the scene. Flip it over and you're treated to a Joe Syntax Remix of one of BCee's summer anthems 'Count The Stars'

This track may well be the most straight up dancefloor track on the EP. A DJ's dream in that it just rolls and rolls and will suit most tastes as its techy enough to hold its own in that arena aswell as having enough interesting elements to keep it fresh throughout its course

Rider comes with the goods on this halftime dub work out from DLR and Mako. A silent killer as it lures you into a false sense of security before envelopes you into huge bass and textures come at you from all angles. DLR, Mako and Rider push themselves to new heights on this.

* When new music drops into the inbox from Nymfo for Dispatch, we know it's not something to take lightly. Following on from his huge 'Recollection / Desert Heat' single, this is no exception and the Flying Dutchman has pulled it out again for us.* 'Coming Through' opens the proceedings, as a gem of the deeper elements. Crisp drums confidently flank, but the warm, inviting bassline steals the show. Gliding elegantly across the dancefloor, it lures you in with developing layers of persuasion. * Things get a bit more technical in 'Survivor' as Nymfo teams up in collaboration with Detail, for a razor sharp percussive assault. Dramatically leading in with majestic pads, the techy drum work of the main body is separated by a deep cinematic breakdown. * Last, but by no means least, 'Tower of David' ties things up as a digital exclusive for the single. This Illumination track from 1998 has been a long time favourite of Twitch's that can instantly change the atmosphere in a club, sounds like very little else, is eminently mixable and great fun to mix with. It was only when the master arrived that the realisation came that for all these years he had been playing it at the wrong speed! It is meant to be slow but Twitch had always played it at 45 instead of 33. The vinyl version will be pressed so it can be played at either speed while the digital will be the sped up to the 45 version. It starts off soft and dubbed out until the almost overwhelming bass tones appear only to make way for apocalyptic drum cascades that on a good sound system truly sound like the end of the world.


Mr. Marvin's "I Want You" came out on R&S offshoot Global Cuts in 1993. Made by Italian, Marvin Sasha, who under the name Sasha made a great series of timeless EPs around the same time, this is a hypnotic tribal gem with seemingly random, panning vocal interjections. Great in the mix but much more than a mere mixing tool.

Lastly is Fuel's "Rigid" which came out on the UK label SCR in 1995 at the time when Chicago's Relief Records were taking over the more discerning DJs' record boxes. This sounds like it shares some DNA with one of the many crazy tracks or remixes Green Velvet was making at this time; Industrial strength, stroboscopic snare tattoos that will have you reaching out for the smoke machines on button every time.

All three have been tried and tested countless times since they were originally released and come with an Optimo Trax guarantee that if played in the right way, at the right point in the night they will not fail to work on the dancefloor, or you get your money back.

This is the sampler taken from the Liquid Soldiers LP and it includes two tracks called 'Soul Things' and 'Obstacles'. These are two artistic works that are very aesthetically pleasing that reminded us of the golden days of Drum and Bass. These tracks have been getting heavy support from LTJ Bukem, Mutated Forms, BCee and Alix Perez.

Mortem returns! One of Demands keyartists graces us with two brand new cuts "Midnight Analogs" and "Y.O.U" for our 24th release.
The young polish Drum & Bass producer has been busy in the last 1.5 years finishing various production projects and latetly got back into the studio to finish off this stellar single. After the success of his last single "Bring It Down" / "Malfunction" in Summer 2013, Mortem once again proofs that he's a master of basslines. While "Midnight Analogs" is a hard hitting dancefloor track with trademark subtile soul vocals, "Y.O.U" is more of a deeper afair. A track that builds up slowly to turn into a minimal bass roller. Naughty!

Diffrent Music, So Far.. Speaks for itself really, this brand new vinyl series brings together a handful of carefully selected tracks that until now have been available only as digital downloads. This is the first offering, and a whole lot of love has gone into making this product a real milestone for the label.
The A side, titled "Foundations" brings together two of the original Diffrent Music artists, with their debut single's title tracks; Jekyll - "Drainpipe" slimy and clogged up with bass as you can imagine, now remastered and cut into the analogue realm, along with Arkaik's 2010 "Stress Relief" which has always been way ahead of its time. The flip-side, "Movements", carries two slightly newer productions, Dexta & Hyroglifics "Boxgroove" which caused a lot of damage earlier in 2014 now sounding double thick cut deep into the vinyl grooves, the last and by no means least track is Fearful's 2013 "Tongues" - Not only was this one of the most popular track's that'd ever seen the day of light, but it's also one of the most experimental yet dance-floor jams we have to offer. Scoping a methodical landscape, Gerra & Stone have begun to take charge of an underground dominion which was already steep with competition. They've slowly invaded cyberspace, becoming a focal point for adept drum & bass whilst remaining a talking point across the online platforms.

And now they've joined forces with dance-floor pacifier Program, epitomising a production style which has gained them such a reputation.

Already setting the pace is opening track 'Ison'. A steppy riddim littered with masqueraded drum beats, it's a power-driven journey which snaps you back and forth between layers. The building blocks of an already tightly compact intro are built upon by a vocal sample which is a premonition for what's to come. The composition is already impressively intricate; however, once this break is delivered you're diverted into a plunging drop that drives you even deeper into the mix maze. With blow-out percussion and a taste for the finer technicalities expect 'Ison' to command every beat of your ear drum and ensure this release leaves an after taste difficult to shake.

With metallic thumps slicing through waiflike samples, even the intro to second track 'Vengeance' is intimidating. Twisted breakbeats create a forward motion that pushes you deeper and deeper into its grasp, whilst the track's title plays out in between bars of finely-tuned anarchy. This is contemporary drum & bass at its finest; the kind its forefather's dreamt of. Precisely laid out, yet paying homage to its underground roots by being fiercely unapologetic.

So yet again, it's time to get with the Program, as this round certainly goes to Gerra & Stone. Their set to catapult themselves to the top this New Year... Whilst leaving no prisoners.

* When Shy FX created his Digital Soundboy label, the name could have been a blueprint for an artist like Breakage, a

century sound boy who has carved out his own minimal, hi-tech vision from the UK's hardcore and dub materials.
* His journey began on the drum and bass scene with his remix of Nasty Habits 'Here Come The Drums', famed for
bringing jungle urgency back to drum and bass. All his unclassifiable work since then, whether people have called it dub
step, grime or drum & bass has had his trademark sound engineering brilliance, his unique sense of space and
combination of dub and emotional pressure, creating a sleek, refractive jet-black British soul all his own.
* Only a producer with Breakage's mastery could take out all the drums from his comeback single 'Treading Water'.
The propulsion provided by undulating waves of crystalline sub, the percussion provided by expert synth stabs, the
emotional dynamics of guest vocalist Detour City effortlessly modulated so you don't even notice; there's no kick and
snare. As James says 'I wanted to do a track in an infinite breakdown/build up. A lot of times I find the "drop" or when all
the elements actually come together can either get way too aggressive, or rather underwhelming. So I decided to do
away with it all together'.
* This is more script-flipping from a man that commanded the respect of the reclusive Burial (and collaborated with him
on 'Vial). Made a grime classic without trying (when a 2009 instrumental called 'Together' ft David Rodigan got change
to the Newham General's 'Hard') as well as re-wired chart conventions with Jess Mill's 2011's 'Fighting Fire'. He is one
of the few producers kindred spirits Massive Attack have requested to remix their songs.
'Treading Water' is pointing the trail into the sound world of his new album 'When The Night Comes', expected in
Spring 2015. 'It took a long time to get right, but it couldn't have worked any other way' says Breakage. Get ready for
immersion.

* The debut release on Hospital Records' latest exclusive signing Lynx. This Southampton based produced is known to many within the drum+bass scene for his unique, rhythmic, anthemic productions, and for those who don't know- be assured you'll be hearing a lot more from over the coming months. This EP of four stand out cuts introduces the diverse sound of a producer at the top of his game.

* Lead track 'Where Are You' raises the levels of P Funk intrigue to breaking point, before the pentatonic wizardry of a trademark Lynx bassline melody kicks in. 'Bees Knees' follows on - A track so infectious it's been keeping staff at Hospital's Purple Gates HQ awake all night.

* 'Hurting' takes things deeper and darker, with Master X's heartfelt delivery underpinned by some filthy jungle styles. Aggresive distorted subs, off beat percussion and animal cries provide the soundtrack to a royal rumble in the rainforest. Last but by no means least comes 'Blue', a hard-boiled P-funk steppa. Like a post apocylptic night down at Ronnie Scotts, this jam is hot.

Andy C has revealed his new solo single, 'Workout', following the world exclusive first play from Annie Mac on Radio 1 (Special Delivery, 11/10/2013).

The 150th release for his Ram label and his first new material for some time, 'Workout' follows the announcement of the next chapter in his acclaimed 'Nightlife' compilation concept. Widely regarded as the definitive drum & bass mix series (with over 250,000 units sold), 'Nightlife 6' will be released in November. The hugely anticipated album is the sixth instalment of the now legendary series that began in 2003 (the last mix was released in 2010).

'Workout' features on Nightlife 6 alongside another new production, 'Haunting', which is an iTunes gratis track that comes free with the album pre-order. Andy has recently delivered remixes for the likes of Rudimental, Major Lazer and Chase & Status.

'Nightlife 6' sees Andy showcase sounds from the most exciting new names and the very biggest D&B artists in the game, including Wilkinson, Loadstar, Chase & Status, DC Breaks, Rene Lavice, S.P.Y, High Contrast, Mind Vortex, Culture Shock, Frankee, Unknown Error, TC, Calyx & TeeBee and many more.
