Vromm is a new music project created by Alvaro Martinez, with the aim to spread UK bass and beats culture that has influenced him since the late 80's. Based in London with 20+ years experience in the music industry. This new project is supported by Doc Scott with the first EP released through 31. Vromm is also one of the members of 'Various Production' and 'Hardware', and also co-runs 'Various Recordings'.

'This record wasn't calculated or über-conceptualised. The writing process was spontaneous, I let inspiration shape that and the recording sessions themselves. For me, art has to be original and arbitrary, almost random and not just functional - a strange science so to speak!' PHACE 'Shape The Random' is the third artist album of Phace, aka Florian Harres, the renowned German electronic music producer, DJ and label owner championed by the likes of Amon Tobin, Noisia, Skrillex, Andy C, Goldie and beyond.

Phace's own imprint, Neosignal Recordings, will release 'Shape The Random' on 16 March, preceded by a two track album sampler on 16 February (digital and vinyl formats). Having worked on the album for over a year, he believes this LP to be both his best work so far and his most intense production experience to date. The 14 track album contains the original and uncompromising drum & bass music that's become his signature - twisted bass, rhythmical madness, high contrast ambience, deep cinematic themes, explosive energy, and elements of analogue tech and funk.

Xanadu's debut LP will be the first time Dom has released someone else's music on his Dom & Roland Productions imprint. In Dom's words ' It is the musical equivalent of a Ridley Scott alien movie' 'One of the reasons I signed Xanadu is because I wanted to learn his tricks for myself, his production really is next level' A well thought out album that flows well from start to finish, Xanadu manages to merge the dirty break-beat vibe that Dom & Roland Productions is known for with a cleaner more modern sound reminiscent of Phace or Noisia. The man with the Chestplate, DJ Distance, working at a drum & bass tempo, minimal funk and filth combine for a emotionally charged journey into the future. This track featured on the Autonomic Fabric mix.

After a lengthy break from the electronic music world, Genotype is back with an LP for Exit Records and provides a lesson in stripped back dub influenced music at approximately 170 bpm. Having started his music career in the mid nineties under the legendary alias Just Jungle, with releases on the massively influential labels of that era such as Trouble On Vinyl, Renegade Hardware and Reinforced Records, its no surprise that he's managed to capture the essence of rawness in his recent music akin to the early years of Jungle. Many producers have tried and failed to bring back the old skool sound with an original flavor but Genotype has managed this by resisting the temptation to lash in the tired old classic breaks and instead has drawn for the more organic sounding percussion and drum kits. The dubbed out theme runs throughout the album paying homage to his love for West Indian music which he has been involved in for many years and naturally influences the music he creates. Genotype is a man of few words and prefers to let his music do the talking so check out the album and draw your own conclusions.

London's Loxy and Finland's Resound have always been known for their ragga-tinged, hardhittingsound, where each beat slams through with an untouchable technical precision. The two producers have been combining forces for the last three years - including their 2009 anthem 'Green Destiny / Storyboard' (Digital Soundboy), remixes for Kryptic Minds, additions to Renegade Hardware compilations, last year's 'No Money - Deadly Venom/Driving Force' (Def Recordings), and their contribution to Exit Records' 'Mosaic: Volume One' ('Vertigo') earlier this year. But the duo's long-awaited debut long player marks their first collaboration that has absolutely no boundaries: as experimental and creative as it gets. True to form, as most Exit Records releases go, 'Burning Shadows' sees both producers finding their stride, and treading into surprising new sonic territories from a few different directions. Taking the energy and force of early tech-heavy Drum & Bass, Loxy & Resound bring the genre into a sound that's uniquely their own.

'The Binary Collective is a new project formed by the Autonomic family in order to make spontaneous music as a collective with multiple inputs from whoever happens to be in the studio at the time. It could be two people involved on production duties or it could be four or more such as on this first release. Made on a drunken afternoon crammed into Rosies Box (dbridges Studio), the collective put their talents together and the tracks formed themselves like Voltron, The Binary Collective was born.' The first release is limited to 300 vinyl.

Opening things up for Cyberfunk is The Existence EP; it pulls no punches straight out of the gate. With his music gaining the attention of labels as diverse as Ram Records, Metalheadz and Critical Music, the production is precise and razor sharp, all the while retaining that tech edge Xtrah has become known for. Operator starts things off and surrounds you with growling deep, sub low bass. There's a definite old school vibe in its simplicity. We Exist is a lesson in tight, rolling percussion work - drum edits and drop outs sit perfectly amongst more trademark Xtrah bass stabs.

Keen to use the label as a platform from fresh and undiscovered talent alongside established names, up-and-coming duo Simple Technique take the reins on Cold Steppin. Equal parts brooding and dark, the track shows a mature level sound design whilst retaining an uncompromising rawness from the newcomers discovered by Xtrah and who will be a big part of the Cyberfunk family. Simple Technique are definitely a name to keep your eyes and ears on in the future. Closing proceedings is Forte; a deadly collaboration between Xtrah and Symmetry Recordings boss man, Break. Filled with punchy 2-step breaks and gut wrenching, speaker shaking low end, you get the best of two producers at the top of their game here and is a perfect way to tie up and incredible debut release.

With a single of the month rating in Mixmag, an 8/10 scoring from DJ Mag, Radio 1 support from Friction, plus club support from a number of DJ's across the scene, the Existence EP is just the beginning of what plans to be a productive year for Xtrah and Cyberfunk.

More amazing international neurofunk from the Close2Death camp. The Gloucester, UK-based label have been carving a path through drum & bass over the past few years, establishing a name and an identity by only dealing in the very best sounds from the edges of reality.

On C2D015 they present two mighty slices of future music, from Russia and from France. After releases on You So Fat and Ammunition with Kaibre, Russia's Effector returns with The Destroyed Kingdom, this time around in the capable hands of Neonlight. From its sleek, shimmering intro, filled with electronic pulses and rising, angelic backing, the remix takes you far and wide, from this world to others. The track lifts slowly, but soon establishes its meaning, which is all-out neuro destruction. Neonlight marks his own territory on the track, lending it an edge as only he can do. This is one unholy banger, full of energy and life. The remixer takes the track into new areas, but never loses sight of the original's soul and purpose. Get ready.

The flip, meanwhile, comes from French electronic producer Landscapers, who delivers Chords From Woods. Mixing drum & bass and ambient in his sound, Louis Pertuy has achieved something definitely unique. Chords From Woods establishes itself early on, with a sharp and dynamic melody rising out of the intro. To this the producer adds kicks and the rumble of a bassline. The track pitches up, as the drums roll on. Crazy synths come in after the drop, with Landscapers happy to alternate between the electronic, glitchy elements and more straight-ahead drum & bass ideas throughout the track. Different, divergent and utterly addictive, Chords From Woods shows just how much Close2Death are pushing things forward as we look to 2015.

Both are known well for their impressive solo work with various labels including Med School Music, Symmetry and Blu Mar Ten. But when Detail & Tiiu come together they produce a truly epic sound. If you heard their haunting 'Days Go By' release back in 2013, you'll be pleased to hear of their return with the mesmerising 'Delusion' track. And to put the icing on the musical cake, Detail tops it off with a slice of his darkly tainted tech funk that we know and love.

Detail employs the vocals of the beautiful and talented Tiiu for 'Delusion'. A track of contrasting elements blending the serene tranquility of the glistening pad sweeps and chords before the dark low sinking bassline and steppy beats slide in. The brooding, emotive, almost melancholic vocal has that hypnotic lost in the music quality that gives the track an understated intensity that'll have you listening to it over and over again.
* BREAKOUT - DETAIL
The opening to 'Breakout' is simply stunning. Lofty, buzzing, arcing inter-stellar sounding sweeps, evanescent hats narrowing in with a seductive female vocal hit that faints as the punchy bass kicks in. Sparse minimalistic beats with teases of old skool breaks accompanied by that swelling granular mid bass drapes the track in a cloak of darkness. Deep, dark and edgy.

Telekinesis - the highly praised Slovanian duo consisting of Smooth and Markoman - joins an already drool-worthy roster of neurofunk talent on Eatbrain, further solidifying the label's reputation as a stalwart of quality drum and bass. And with names like Concord Dawn and MC Coppa in the equation, the 6th release on Eatbrain stands out as a must-own for any neurofunk head.

Nightwalkers EP kicks off with an dynamic collaboration between Telekinesis and Coppa, the Leeds-based MC who's collaborations with Prolix and Mindscape made enormous waves within the drum and bass scene in 2012. Telekinesis's knack for atmosphere comes into full effect at the outset before Coppa's infectious rhymes take hold, winding things up into an irresistible drop. Still possessing the same raw ferocity that Telekinesis has become known for, 'Pocket Full Of Drops' takes their sound into playful territory. Combining their dirty signature bass, cleanly constructed drums, and Coppa's clever lyricism, 'Pocket Full of Drops' a true mood-lifter bound to crush any dancefloor it touches. Good vibes, plain and simple.

Next up, New Zealand badboy Concord Dawn features on the EP's eponymous track, 'Nightwalkers.' Opening with an optimistic-sounding concoction of warm pads, a light drum break, and shimmering synth arpeggios, the melody soon takes a darker turn as the full-moon comes out and the dead begin to rise. By the time the tune drops, it's too late - you've already been bitten by Telekinesis and Concord Dawn's monstrous musical creation, and there is no hope for you. One thing is certain; 'Nightwalkers' is a hauntingly contagious track capable of turning an otherwise normal human into a mindless dancing abomination. Beware.

The EP's third track, 'Lich,' promises to slay crowds with its upbeat neurofunk vibes. Clean drums, spirited keys, and a dirty yet carefully polished bassline make this energetic roller a dangerous piece of ammunition.

Nightwalkers EP wraps up with a truly fun yet complex exercise in future funk, 'She Wants To Skate'. A tune made purely for the dancefloor, 'She Wants To Skate' jumps right into things with tight, lively drums and an uplifting synth riff. Telekinesis's trademark bass warms itself up, before ripping into full swing at the drop, twisting and turning throughout the track amidst a catchy chopped up vocal. 'She Wants To Skate' is a particularly infectious joint, bound to get bodies moving and put smiles on faces.
