The Stone Techno Series returns with another exciting compilation. This time alongside a new festival that celebrates forward thinking artists from 9th to 10th of July at Europe's biggest coal mine complex under the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein. The project is exceptional at its core, bringing back excitement and inventiveness to the genre.

The project functions as a multidisciplinary ever-evolving experiment that brings different aspects together. Sampling, creating and releasing music made out of million years old inorganic materials which shaped and defined the Ruhr Area like nothing else. "Auf Kohle geboren - born on coal" stands for this region and the so-called "German Wirtschaftswunder".

The Stone Techno project wants to embrace the history of "the Ruhrpott" while looking into the future as well. Techno Music stands for upheaval and modernity, while coal is the symbol of the Ruhr Area. This unique project will lend audibility to the ongoing process of transformation in the cultural and natural history of this region. Science and museums crossing paths with contemporary electronic music culture.

The Stone Techno project is not shy of its obvious significance. World-famous Ruhr Museum and The Third Room collective mark a first of its kind of long-lasting collaborations between a techno brand and a cultural institution.

Anfang der 1960er lösten die Songs eines jungen amerikanischen Folksängers ein Erdbeben aus. Ausgehend von einem zeitlosen Repertoire und unter Hinzufügung von Offenheit, Humor und moderner poetischer Bildsprache, definierte Bob Dylan neu, was ein Künstler in einem Lied ausdrücken konnte. Er erschütterte damit die gesamte Musikindustrie und trug dazu bei, die Grundlagen des modernen Rock zu legen. Die neue Ausgabe der Bootleg Series von Bob Dylan, "Fragments - Time Out Of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series Vol. 17" erscheint als 5 CDs umfassendes Deluxe Boxset sowie als Standard-Version auf 2 CDs oder 4 LPs. Sie enthält in der Standardversion das Album "Time Out Of Mind" in einem 2022er Remix sowie zwölf ausgewählten Outtakes und Alternativversionen. Volume 17 der gefeierten Dylan-Reihe wirft 25 Jahre nach seiner Erstveröffentlichung einen neuen Blick auf das Meisterwerk "Time Out Of Mind" und zeichnet dessen Entstehung nach. Angefangen bei den bislang unveröffentlichten Song-Fassungen aus den 1996er Teatro-Sessions mit Dylan (Gesang, Gitarre, Piano), Daniel Lanois (Gitarre, Orgel), Tony Garnier (Bass) und Tony Mangurian (Schlagzeug, Percussion) bis hin zu (ebenfalls unveröffentlichten) Live-Mitschnitten aus den Jahren 1998-2001. Anfang 1996 begann Dylan, der seit der 1990er LP Under The Red Sky kein Album mit Eigenkompositionen veröffentlicht hatte, mit der Arbeit an neuen Songs. Von August bis Oktober ging er mit Daniel Lanois, der sein 1989er Album Oh Mercyproduziert hatte, ins Teatro Studio in Oxnard/CA, um dort Demos für eine mögliche neue LP aufzunehmen. Als die Songs im Januar des Folgejahres Form angenommen hatten, zog man ins Criteria Studio in Miami/FL um. Die Studiobesetzung wurde aufgestockt, und so fand sich in Florida ein illustrer Mix aus Session-Musikern und Mitgliedern von Dylans Tourband ein: Bucky Baxter (Akustikgitarre, Pedal Steel), Duke Robillard (E-Gitarre/Gibson L-5), Robert Britt (Martin Akustikgitarre, Fender Stratocaster), Cindy Cashdollar (Slide Gitarre), Tony Garnier (Bass, Kontrabass), Augie Meyers (Vox Orgel, Hammond B3, Akkordeon), Jim Dickinson (Keyboards, Wurlitzer E-Piano, Pumporgel) sowie die Schlagzeuger Jim Keltner, Brian Blade und David Kemper. Das Album "Time Out Of Mind", der schließlich aus diesen Sessions entstand, avancierte zu einem Dylan-Klassiker. Songs wie "Love Sick", "Can't Wait" oder "Not Dark Yet" wurden zu Lieblingsstücken der Fans. Mit "Make You Feel My Love" gelang Dylan sogar das Kunststück, dem Great American Songbook einen neuen zeitgenössischen Standard hinzuzufügen. Zahllose Künstler, darunter Billy Joel, Neil Diamond oder Adele, haben diesen Song gecovert. Bei den Grammy Awards 1998 gewann "Time Out Of Mind" in den Kategorien 'Album of the Year' und 'Best Contemporary Folk Album'.

'Pyramids, Stars & Other Stories: The Tangent Live Recordings 2004-2017' ist das neue 2CD bzw. 3LP Live-Compilation-Album von The Tangent. 'Eine Triple-Live-LP ist etwas, das man auf der Bucket List stehen hat.', sagt Leader Andy Tillison. 'Ich träumte davon, so etwas zu machen, seit ich ein Kind war.' Drei Konzerte sind vertreten, eines von 2004, eines von 2011 und eines von 2017. Alle wurden bereits in irgendeiner Form als 'inoffizielle Bootlegs' veröffentlicht, aber hier auf InsideOut werden sie zum ersten Mal standesgemäß präsentiert. Das 'Pyramids And Stars'-Konzert aus dem Jahr 2004 in Deutschland, bei dem die 'Roine Stolt'-Besetzung von The Tangent einen Großteil des Debütalbums 'Music That Died Alone' sowie (damals) neues Material vom zweiten Album 'The World That We Drive Through' spielte, ist in vollem Umfang enthalten. Hinzu kommen Tracks der COMM-Ära-Besetzung der Band (aufgenommen ohne Wissen der Musiker) bei einem Konzert in Großbritannien - sowie Tracks, die 2017 in den USA von der aktuellen Besetzung der Band aufgenommen wurden. Diese erschienen ursprünglich auf den Fan-Veröffentlichungen 'Southend On Sea' und 'Hotel Cantaffordit'. Präsentiert in einer neu gestalteten Ed Unitsky 'Pyramids and Stars' LP-Gatefold-Hülle und Doppel-CD-Digipack sowie als digitales Album, wurde die Veröffentlichung dieses Albums von den Fans der Band lange erwartet.

On top Moodorama’s remixes are trippy dubby jams. Moodorama have a long recording history, starting in the 90s on Stereo Deluxe, but even before that Martin Sennebogen was the DJ and co-producer of Knowtoryus, the legendary first hip hop outfit on Compost.

Colonel Red is a groundbreaking soul singer, musician, producer and performer, often referred to as one of the most powerful voices in the UK soul music community, a champion in equal parts of the original Broken Beat scene, as well as the UK soul scene. Working with and writing for the likes of Teddy Pendergrass, Amp Fiddler, Maurice White, Bugz In The Attic, Tony Allen and countless others. His track 'Belive In Me' was awarded the WORLDWIDE award from Gilles Peterson in 2014.
Colonel Red’s foray into the music industry began when Epic Record company giant Sylvia Rhone signed the then lead singer, Nikki Romillie, of Pride n’ Politix, to Atlantic Records. An accompanying publishing deal with Warner Bros. established the artiste, now known as Colonel Red, as one of the UK’s top cutting edge singer/songwriters.

Inkswel has been heralded as one of the busiest and most prolific beat based producers from Australia, a true master of his craft he has worked with the likes of Talib Kweli, Lee Scratch Perry, Andrew Ashong, Dwight Trible, Amp Fiddler and countless others as well as putting out timeless musical projects on labels such as BBE, Sonar Kollekiv, Rush Hour, Warner Music, Boogie Angst and others. He hovers evenly between Hip Hop and Club sensibilities, blending new age approaches with nostalgic leans. 'Holders of The Sun' is the audio melting pot of two musical aliens, future directive soul music drenched in the nostalgia of what once was.

Hailing from Brussels, Bandler Ching is a creation of musical ideas from composer and saxophonist Ambroos De Schepper (Kosmo Sound, Azmari and Mos Ensemble).

Flawlessly blending contemporary jazz, electronics, trap, hip-hop and global beats, the sound is based around the freedom of expression and improvisation and performed with astounding conviction. With the help of Alan Van Rompuy (Azertyklavierwerke), Federico Pecoraro (ECHT!) and Olivier Penu (Kel Assouf), the four idiosyncratic artists come together to express their musical identity to dazzling effect.

After a period of exploration, the quartet are set to release their debut album 'Coaxial' on the 27th January, via the groove-obsessed Sdban Ultra label. A hypnotic trip through each band members' musical fantasies, the band have their roots in jazz. "We start from Jazz and we give it our own attitude with improvisation and a lot of freedom and eventually mix it with influences such as electronics, beats, hip-hop etc," says De Schepper.

From the free-spirited beauty of 'You Call It' and pulsating, loose beats of 'Awpril' to the luminous 'Dag na Naamdag' inspired by warm winter memories and wild summer dreams, De Schepper gives the sax a new place in its musical sphere. The album title refers to the band members' various musical influences that coalesce around one artistic centre. That centre is 'Coaxial' - a distinct sound with a clear identity, yet versatile and difficult to catergorise.

Elsewhere, the bass-heavy 'RoodGroen' features Vieze Meisje (performer Maya Mertens) while the sonoric mayhem of 'Smooch' mutates without border - mischievous, dynamic and unpredictable at the same time. 'Rave Fever' is rich cataclysm of sound and rhythm while the intriguing 'You Have Got Me' and album closer 'Kitsune' showcase the magnetic soundings of Bandler Ching.

Tape Es kommt selten vor, dass eine Band mit ihrem bisher besten Werk ein comeback feiert, aber die finnischen ...And Oceans beweisen hier eindrucksvoll, dass "Cosmic World Mother" aus 2020 eine Symphonie stürzender Dämme kreativer Schleusen war, die in ein neues Gewässer, einen Ozean, wenn man so will, einbrachen.

Alles, was das erste Album seit 18 Jahren Pause von ...And Oceans gut gemacht hat - rasanter symphonischer Black Metal, berauschende Themen, die sich mit der Verbindung zwischen Philosophie und Übersinnlichem befassen, und das für ...And Oceans typisch abenteuerliche Songwriting - schafft "As In Gardens, So In Tombs" in den Schatten zu stellen und neu zu kontextualisieren. Die nun vorliegende Neuauflage erscheint als Ltd, Edition hellgrünes Vinyl und enthält exklusive Liner Notes von Chris Boltendahl.

Kid Cudi meldet sich mit seinem zehnten Studioalbum „Entergalactic“ zurück.
Der GRAMMY-Gewinner und mehrfache Platin-Award-Träger festigt mit seinem kommenden Projekt erneut seinen Platz an der Spitze der globalen A-List-Musiker: innen.

Als Parallele zur musikalischen Verwirklichung seines Schaffens erscheint ebenfalls eine gleichnamige Netflix-Produktion. Die Regie teilen sich Kid Cudi und der erfahrene Filmproduzent Kenya Barris (Girls Trip, Der Prinz aus Zamunda 2).
Kid Cudi teilt stolz mit: „Entergalactic is everything I’ve always wanted to do, create a long-form visual companion to an album.”

Neben der musikalischen Fülle überzeugt das Album auch durch seine hochkarätigen Feature-Gäste wie Ty Dolla $ign, 2 Chainz oder auch Steve Aoki.

Three O’Clock High war eine unkonventionelle Interpretation einer Highschool-Komödie der 80er Jahre.
Der Film, bei dem Phil Joanou (U2’s Rattle and Hum, State of Grace, Final Analysis) stilvoll Regie führte,
erinnert mehr an Scorsese als an John Hughes und zeigt Casey Siemaszko in der Hauptrolle als Streber,
der sich nach der Schule mit einem psychopathischen Tyrannen (gespielt von Richard Tyson) herumschlagen muss. Der Film wurde auf Heimvideos zum Kulthit, wozu auch die stimmungsvolle, dynamische und
pulsierende Musik der deutschen Synthpop-Legenden Tangerine Dream (Sorcerer, Thief, Risky Business)
beitrug.
Regisseur Joanou wollte die Band unbedingt für den Film engagieren und war überglücklich, als sie zusagten:
”Die Berliner Sessions mit Edgar Froese und Paul Haslinger waren ein wahr gewordener (Tangerine-)Traum”,
schreibt er in den neuen Linernotes zu dieser Veröffentlichung. ”In ihrem Studio direkt an der Berliner
Mauer arbeiteten wir mehrere Wochen lang an jedem einzelnen Stück... Was sie einem Keyboard, aber
auch Gitarren, Bass und Schlagzeug entlocken konnten, war einfach unglaublich. Ich war wie weggeblasen.”
Die 15 Tracks von Tangerine Dream werden durch zusätzliche Musik von Sylvester Levay (als die Filmemacher
mehr Cues brauchten und es sich nicht leisten konnten, nach Berlin zurückzukehren) und den bekannten
Song von Jim Walker, ”Something to Remember Me By”, ergänzt.

With Grammy Award-winning Canadian producer David Bottrill on mixing duties once again, Tellurian (first released in November 2014) sees SOEN coming out of their shell to become undisputed titans of the progressive metal genre. UK jazz dance hero Paul Murphy teams up with BBE Music to deliver his first compilation on the label: a blazing selection of up-tempo jazz titled ‘The Jazz Room’.
Lauded by none other than Gilles Peterson as “the original messenger of jazz who found almost every dancefloor classic”, Paul began DJing in 1970s London. His passion and unique playing style placed him at the epicentre of an emerging jazz-dance scene in the city, popping off in spots like The Horseshoe (aka Jaffas), The Wag, The 100 Club, The Blue Note and The Electric Ballroom, where he founded the now famous ‘Jazz Room’, after which this album is named.

With Forgot About Her, Sleepyeyes shares the weight of letting go. It’s a slow-burning process pushed and pulled by tension and release, a movement for moving on.

“Avada Kedavra Deluxe,” by Seattle rapper AJ Suede, is a 21-track, self-produced, self-referencing, double-vinyl labyrinth of experimental boom-bap. Building on a signature style that SPIN magazine describes as “stream-of-consciousness rhymes, containing everything from socio-political commentary and blunted cinematic allusions to psychedelic visions,” Suede’s creation is as compelling as it is unclassifiable. On the first LP, Suede demonstrates his substantial skills as a beatmaker and rapper, chopping up what Seattle’s KEXP calls “the smoothest, jazziest, weirdest samples” and overlaying parkour bars about Grunge, success, and social justice. From the first cut, “Nebuchadnezzar,” which New York’s Major Stage describes as a “powerful chant-like hypnotic loop,” these 10 tracks capture an elusive mood of too many hours inside watching YouTube and trying to piece together fractured connections. The album’s title is derived from an Aramaic spell: “Let this thing be destroyed.” On the second LP, Suede invites 13 guests to “destroy” the original songs. This disc of remixes and reworkings showcases underground voices from across the Northwest (Seattle’s Wolftone, Khrist Koopa, Portland’s Fines Double), from across America (New Jersey’s Fatboi Sharif, California’s mudwater, Ohio’s Lord Olo, New York’s Bloodblixing), and around the world (Tel Aviv’s Argov and Japan’s Wazasnics). Seattle rappers Astral Trap, Blake Anthony, Mika’il, and Greg Cypher are featured on a bonus “posse” cut. AJ Suede has been grinding for years in the underground, building a solid, devoted global fanbase. He’s released acclaimed cassettes and CDs through respected labels such as Fake Four Inc., Candy Drips, Chong Wizard, and Blackhouse. In May 2022, a 100-copy vinyl run of his album “Metatron’s Cube” sold out in less than four hours. With “Avada Kedavra Deluxe,” AJ Suede has tapped into the moment, using what Deeply Rooted Hip-Hop calls “a subconscious steeped in the mystical.” As KEXP says: “Quite predictably, the whole album bangs.”

Originally released on cassette in the winter of 1984, together with the 7th issue of Komakino fanzine - included here in its original format. 8 groups and 14 tracks revealing the whole meaning of the Afterglow operation. Bands who already had record deals and enjoyed some popularity, others that will do so shortly, others that will fade in the mists of that decade. “Afterglow” is a document from an era when small gestures and uncomfortable choices were true stances.

Originally released on cassette in the spring of 1985, together with the 8th issue of Komakino fanzine - included here in its original format. Relatively well- known names coexist with bands that lasted only a season. “Still Life” was and remains a half hour of pure abstraction. An intense and precious post-punk overdose!

Faitiche presents Groupshow’s Greatest Hits: The ten tracks on this first vinyl album by Groupshow (Hanno Leichtmann, Andrew Pekler, Jan Jelinek), recorded between 2005 and 2018, document concert recordings and studio improvisations by the trio.

In improvisation there are no mistakes, only missed opportunities. Groupshow found their first opportunity in the routines of live performance and they used this opportunity to break with these routines. The trio consisting of Jan Jelinek, Hanno Leichtmann and Andrew Pekler came together in the context of Kosmischer Pitch, playing live versions of the music from Jelinek’s 2005 studio album of that name. During this project, the musical interaction between the three participants quickly emancipated itself from the original programme, departing from fixed roles and finding a distinct form in constant change.

Groupshow sessions – rehearsal, concert or recording – are always improvised. The interplay of the various sound sources, converging from the directions of “electronics”, “percussion” and “guitar”, does not follow the Krautrock wave logic of crescendo and morendo. Jelinek, Leichtmann and Pekler have established a method of transparent density in which links and breaks are not concealed but remain audible. The music works through attraction and repulsion, with a loosely organized structure that always leaves enough room for the next intervention.

The principle here, repeated even in the smallest units, is that of duration. Groupshow think of their music in terms of an installation: no starting point, no dramaturgy, and ideally no end. Concerts take place not raised up on a podium, but in the middle of the room on a level with the audience, who only enter the space with the musicians and instruments once their interaction is already underway. In 2008, Groupshow used this approach to create a live soundtrack for Andy Warhol’s film Empire, over the full length of eight hours and five minutes.

Recordings in general and the “Greatest Hits” format in particular are another key aspect of this ongoing work on a collectively modulated continuum. The ten tracks on this first vinyl album by Groupshow, recorded between 2005 and 2018, document the ephemeral capturing of opportunities that were not missed. Extracts and essences of an endless movement of searching. The sprawling form of the whole, suspended in succinct, separate units.
To paraphrase Lao Tzu and Roland Barthes, one might say: Once their work is done, they are no longer attached to it. And because they’re not attached to it, it will remain.

Dirigenten. Simon Rattle führte den gesamten Zyklus mit
den Wiener Philharmonikern in Live-Konzerten auf, die
zwischen dem 29. April und 17. Mai 2002 im historischen
Musikverein in Wien für EMI aufgezeichnet wurden. Diese
7. Sinfonie ist einer der Höhepunkte des Zyklus, der in
Frankreich mit dem Diapason d'or ausgezeichnet wurde.

On the flip, the impactful sonics of Krokodil’s B1 ‘Kops Are Comin’ take hold, a production emerging deep from the archives and already supported by the likes of VTSS and SPFDJ, before closing the package via the warping electro spheres of ‘SurvivinTheDanger’.

Following in the footsteps of the landmark 1966 double-quartet recording by Joe Harriott and John Mayer, Indian born musician Amancio D'Silva produced some of the most adventurous and sophisticated recordings within the canon of 'indo-jazz', a term used to define a pioneering east meets west synthesis that reflected the shifting musical and cultural landscape of post-war Britain. An experiment which reached a pinnacle in 1972 with D'Silva's seminal recording Dream Sequence by Cosmic Eye (The Roundtable TRZY001), an adventurous fusion of modal jazz and Indian classical music viewed through the psychedelic lens of swinging London. Exotic third-stream jazz conceived by a visionary composer whose virtuosic technique and deeply emotive guitar playing defined his two earlier and now legendary 1969 UK jazz albums Integration and Hum Dono with Joe Harriott, both recorded for the much celebrated Lansdowne label.

Also recorded in 1972 although not released at the time was Konkan Dance, an unofficial sequel to Dream Sequence that further explored the unchartered possibilities of an Indian music-jazz fusion. Featuring many of the same personnel, this session also included support from Don Rendell and Alan Branscombe, two giants of the UK jazz scene who add serious credentials to D'Silva's singular and intimate compositions. For reasons unknown the album was cancelled by Lansdowne at the time and never saw the light of day until being resurrected again in the 2000s. The Roundtable are pleased to once again showcase this important artist and present a new addition of this incredible and almost forgotten piece of the Amancio D'Silva story. Pressed on 180g vinyl and packaged in a custom 1960s-style flip-back sleeve.

It has been exactly ten years since Finders Keepers first intrepidly entered Andrzej Korzyński’s cavernous musical vault, but it is only today that we are able to proudly announce the safe retrieval on what we consider the true heavy psych holy grail of the Polish composer’s mind-bending oeuvre. By cruel coincidence this welcome event has sadly come during the same year as the composer’s tragic passing. However, in true Korzyński style, alongside his previous Finders Keepers releases, the legacy he has left behind in this one final lost soundtrack project alone has come with musical riches beyond anyone’s wildest expectations.

The comprehensive elusive archive of the deeply psychedelic soundtrack to Andrzej Żuławski’s forbidden film Diabeł (The Devil) is perhaps the most detailed dossier one could wish to find – including audio sketches, rejected proposals and pre-butchered variations that play out like an intense and veritable creative conversation between the director and the maestro, both of whom are widely recognised as true mavericks of socialist-era Poland’s fertile artistic landscape. Never intended for anything as conventional as a straightforward movie tie-in promotional disc (state owned Eastern European record labels rarely did this), the music in this archive has required special forensic inspection. Let’s say the devil is in the detail. The 7” record you are now holding is more than just a companion piece, and it is far from a selection of the (non-existent) poppy title themes to promote a full feature-length album. This standalone release is wholly unique in its own right, giving Finders Keepers listeners a final access all areas snoop into the mind of one of the pillars of our alternative musical community.

As those familiar with Żuławski and Korzyński’s long-running relationship will understand (a methodology best exemplified in the schizoid soundtrack to the film Possession), their exchanges were deeply nuanced and often complicated, with lots of artistic “tennis” thrown into the mix. The key plot in this behind-the-scene fable is that after delivering his original off-kilter psychedelic score to the director, maestro Korzyński was asked to make the music “totally unique, like something from another planet”, to which Korzyński took his tapes, pulled down the vari-speed to a guttural grind and continued to recompose over the top using avant-garde electro-acoustic techniques while deploying psychedelic skills of guitarist Winicjusz Chróst. This limited record release proudly boasts Korzyński’s original uptempo awkward psychedelic pop music prior to the doom laden growls that make the official films soundtrack a true Goliath of Eastern European soundtrack composition. Which, when recontextualised, will stand as a veritable face-melter for stoner rock fans. As one of Finders Keepers deepest conquests, we are delighted to share The Devil Tapes… What is a grail without the wine.

Following on from 2020s acclaimed album Vodou Ale, Chouk Bwa turn up the heat for this exhilarating trip into their bush of ghosts by introducing a new stripped down line-up to fire up the dance floor, based exclusively on the drums and rhythms of the Haitian kongo rite and deep electronic dub expansions by their trusted Belgian counterparts The Ângströmers. As Afro-Caribbean polyrhythms meet bass-weight dub electronics, the two part EP has documented the group experimenting with a stripped back form which focuses on the dimension of trance. Opening with a cermonial chant and designed to enduce dancefloor delirium, the first track taken from the EP is the raw, high-octane, primordial techno of "Zemedo".
