Ministry of Sound are proud to present the next instalment of their pioneering album series, Trance Nation or in the words of MIXMAG, 'the Super-Bowl of trance mix-comps'. In a break with our established annual-release tradition, October 2015 see Ministry of Sound heed the call of the scene with - for the first time in a decade - a second Trance Nation outing for the year, fronted this time by Trance legend, global music icon and Cold Harbour head honcho, Markus Schulz. Bringing his trademark sound to the biggest album in Trance, loaded with exclusives (15 of them to be precise) sourced specifically for the compilation, Trance Nation Markus Schulz is, in every sense of the phrase, a release the fans have been waiting for, for a very long time.

Born in Eschwege, central Germany, Markus emigrated to the United States. Age 13, his dance music awakening came during the grip of the country's then-nascent breakdance scene. His early production and DJ career roughly tracked that of the second Stateside House explosion and he caught his first production break in 1993 when he remixed Sagat's 'Why Is It (F** Dat)' for FFrr. Markus' freshman production release followed in 1994 with the 6-track 'Plastik Trax EP Vol 1'. Throughout the mid to late Nineties he continued to accrue acclaim with a range of releases on numerous luminary U.S. labels. In 1998 he recorded 'You Won't See Me Cry' for Plastik Records (his first label), which was picked up by the UK's Eve Records and became his first non-domestic release.

Amongst the exclusives on the album you'll find Markus' dazzling remix of 'Déjà Vu' from Giorgio Moroder & Sia, 'Twilight of the Night' - a heralding return for his Dakota alias and an all-new version of pre-summer touchdown 'Tomorrow Never Dies'. That's really just for starters though... Through tracks & remixes, there's also a straight flush of productions from trance music's luminaries... Recent floor-wowers from Ferry Corsten, Chicane, Rank 1 & M.I.K.E. Push, Solarstone, Tritonal, and Judge Jules are all mixed into the discs. To further whet your appetite, here's also a full spread of productions from Markus' Coldharbour kings, with music from Mr. Pit vs. Fisherman & Hawkins, Nifra, Rex Mundi, Klauss Goulart and others.

Priming the first mix with 'Fibreglasses' - Chicane's liquid cool latest and Gai Barone's brooding 'Un-Theme', Markus fashions a deeply dug entrenchment for the intro. Supplying sonic ether of the darker variety too are 'Twilight of the Night' from Dakota - Markus' moodier mode and Marscela's (Schulz again) pad-soaked 'Time Plex'. Further in and bigger yet guns rollout. Schulz's trance-floor penetrating rework of Moroder/Sia Billboard smash 'Déjà Vu'; August's DJ Mag Single of the Month 'Juno' from Rank 1 & M.I.K.E. Push all blaze their own paths through the disc's midsection. Carving out its latter stages meanwhile is a host from the Coldharbour Recordings élite, with empyrean vocal numbers from Tenishia ft. Adina Butar & Nifra ft. Seri + instrumental cuts from Mr. Pit vs. Fisherman & Hawkins, & Klauss Goulart. Bringing first disc proceedings to their boiling point is the Markus/Delacey collab (and former Beatport #1) 'Destiny'.

Charging its opening moments with the new Coldharbour Intro Mix of his & Vassy's 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (Bombay), right off Mix 2's bat, Markus is swinging for the fence. Other 'destinations' from Schulz's 2015 City Series quickly arrive, with a midpoint stop-off in London for the Ministry-dedicated 'Lost In The Box' and the 'Trance Nation' exclusive outro version of 'Avalon (LA)'. Running between them is a mass effect of other exclusives. Purple Stories fresh take on neo-classic 'City of Angels' from Elevation vs. Grube & Hovsepian; the riff stridence of Danilo Ercole's 'Format' abounds and 'Knightfall' & 'Worlds Apart' from, Arkham Knights & Artisan rock blocks respectively. Bringing Disc 2 to its towering, uplifting conclusion are Gouryella's comeback release 'Anahera' and Ferry & Markus together on New World Punx's Coachella-destroying 'Memories'.

Who is/are Rita Furstenhof We have no idea who she/he/they are. The A1 track, the mighty "Hadron Collider" was sent to Optimo Music HQ about 18 months ago. Normally sending one track is not much use to a label, but this was so good that we instantly replied to say we wanted to release it. Rita Furstenhof works in mysterious ways, and it was 18 months until the other tracks for the EP arrived. Along the way there were a few times when we thought they had completely vanished, and we were never going to have a complete EP, but finally, here it is.
And well worth the wait!
This 12" is pure trance. Do not fear those words.

If, from its sequence-violating '13.5' numeric, you were to surmise that changes are afoot with
the mix-comp line that MIXMAG hailed as 'the greatest trance series of them all!', well... you
might be right. Well versed in seeking the sun-up in the most exotic and far-flung locales, this

'Myrki Heima' by Oliver Englafjord is an album like no other. Its metamorphosed from late-night sonicsketching, through YouTube beta testing on to an alias-donned/fully-fleshed 13-track body of work... 3 years in process, 'Myrki Heima's epic passage to album-hood culminates this July.

The by-chance brainchild of Sweden's Marcus Schossow, 'Myrki's embryonic moment occurred in
Iceland, a half decade ago. Blinking 'Oliver Englafjord' into existence, it was a trip for Schössow that went far beyond the bounds of the merely inspirational. A citizen of an unidentified Nordic city, Oliver's life musings visually push through the fourth wall of 'Myrki Heima's music. Across a series of 5-minute accompanying film shorts, sound-tracked by the album's audio, Englafjord half-ponders/half-narrates his life, the universe & everything. The meanings of Oliver words are initially cryptic. Only through the 4 video chapters, framed against the urban, metropolitan and bucolic Nordic locales that accompany 'Myrki's release, does his story become clear.

Explaining the genesis of Oliver Englafjord, Marcus says: "I started this project to basically learn about new hardware I had, and to explore what happens if I used it to make music that had no rules. At the time I'd been travelling around Iceland and was inspired by its nature and peacefulness. I started to play this material to a friend of mine and he suggested that I should develop it into a full album. I wasn't so sure, but I uploaded some masked demos to YouTube, for fun and to see what people - not knowing it was I - would say.

The reactions were overwhelming and it began doing the rounds on the underground blogs and forum boards. So I decided to follow that friend's suggestion, get on and make this album. It was a natural process, but as a side project, it took 3 years to complete. No deadlines, no pressure, no one knowing what I was working on and as I say, no rules. "After many years of producing and DJing the music I produce and DJ, it was an amazing freedom and liberation to do this - a sabbatical of a kind", continues Schossow "Deep inside of me, I've always
been a melodic techno guy, but I've always felt that I'd like to go down this path sooner or later. I never expected that instead of finding the path, that path would find me. This alias is all about freehand music with no compromise and I'm beyond excited to embark on this journey with Oliver and see where it takes us all."

The album is in essence 'Schossow: unbound', a transcendental, near out-of-body producer
experience, which entwines Marcus & 'Oliver's minds. It's long-player that has zero to do with
classification and everything to do with feel and atmosphere and ether. Downtempo, mid and up, it supplies theatre for the ear and eye, with start-to-finish cinematics and quantum drama, both mellow & melo. Somewhere between high concept and avant-garde/art-house, between this plane and another, Oliver exists... And so now does 'Myrki Heima'

If there's a term that captures to the nth degree the music of DJ, composer and master-producer Tapio 'Orkidea' Hakanen, it's 'retrofuturism'. Passing from simple terminology to his own personal genre playground, its past-meets-the-future melange is the driving ethic behind every piece of music he makes.

It sees him inhabit a remarkable & singular position in electronic music. Remaining anchored to its underground, he nonetheless enjoys the type of esteem typically reserved for the biggest trance stars of stage & studio. Notable by their cache of rarity, 'Harmonia' is just the fourth in Orkidea's album line, throughout his near-¼ century of electronic music creation.

Long regarded as Russia's foremost electronic music duo, put simply Moonbeam create music
unlike anyone else on the planet. Following 2009's 'Around The World', 'The Secret' (2011) and
the Original Soundtrack to their 2013 feature-length movie 'The Random', Moonbeam's fourth
international album 'Atom' follows in the Khvaleev brothers' grand tradition of the untraditional.
