Bonzai Classics is proud to present one of Belgium’s finest Trance projects, Carat Trax by Zolex and the massive The Message. Back in the mid-nineties, Frank Struyf and Carat Trax were churning out top club hits on Dance Opera, Circus, Frank’s own Zolex Records and our very own XTC imprint. Frank has such a long history you could easily write a complete book on his career. In the early nineties he became resident of Belgian mythical underground club Globe. At that time, he did about five gigs a week, being one of the most popular DJ's around the Benelux. After the closing of the Globe, Frank became resident of another mythical club Carat, a meeting point of Belgian, Dutch, French and German party people, where he played 12-hour sets, and made the club as we know it today. Despite his busy DJ schedule Frank still found the time to produce his own sounds. In 1993 he created Time modulator, a timeless classic, copies of which were sold all over the world. Together with R. Reynders, M. Engelen and M. van der Heyden, he released several tracks on the Antler Subway label Dance Opera. Many years of producing quality records followed and he is still twiddling the knobs and spinning sets to this day. For this special release, we’re digging out two remixes of The Message from Veroniq-Mas and Insider aka Kris Vanderheyden.

The Veroniq-Mas Mix was a huge hit in the clubs all over the world, but especially in Europe, where it fed into the very essence of the culture. The track opens with classic chords before that instantly recognisable vocal from Blind Truth comes through along with striking synth plucks and a tight, punchy, rhythmic drum arrangement. The track breaks, leaving that synth pluck in place as delicate bells fade in to the backdrop of some Bolland style drums. The short interlude soon erupts into full-on mode once again, sending the crowd into a frenzy, keeping the sweat glands open, ready for the night ahead.

In 2001, The Message got a makeover by Belgian technoist Insider aka Kris Vanderheyden. Kris was a name synonymous with powerful, pumping Techno and Trance, forming part of legendary groups such as Tyrome, Jones-Sider and Quick Reverse among others, as well as dishing out top tracks for Bonzai as The Assistant and Insider. His Insider Sharp As A Knife Mix gained traction at the turn of the millennium, thanks to its driving groove that shook the bass bins in any venue it was played. Huge, thumping kicks and a rolling bassline led the groove while the original plucky synths were joined by a hypnotic synth line that dug deep into your brain. The classic vocal is used sparingly but to great effect, fading in and climaxing just at the right moments. A stomper of a track that will stand up on its own today.

The sixth release on our imprint slowly starts to reveal the nature of the label’s sound signature. While simultaneously bending through various genres, the aim is to highlight what we see to be some of the most interesting corners and avenues of electronic dance music. For this reason its with great pleasure we present these four tracks bringing us into somewhat darker areas yet keeping an uplifting energy. One genre achieves this feat perfectly: Techno-Trance, and that’s what it’s all about with this one. Two tunes taken from Wolfgang S’ 1995 Album released only on cassette as well as two original, unreleased tunes from around the same time to complete this magnificent EP.

Arts Gallery keep scratching the surface of the emotional part of our soul with a brand new Geinst record. With no need of introduction with his other two appareances on the label this artist keeps delivering beauty in his unique way translated into electronic music. "Mantra" is a work of art, that takes the listener to the deepest part part of techno, the artist keep delivering literally "rooms" in where the user can get lost and get inspired with.

We have another tantalising treat for you for Record Store Day 2020. We’ve dug into the archive and decided to bring you Bonzai Power Vinyl 1 on 2 x 7” records containing four classic cuts that put the hardcore rave sound on the map. DJ Bountyhunter’s Demilitarized Zone first appeared on Power Vinyl and was an exclusive at the time. Featuring thumping beats and sweeping hoover sounds, the main melody and the vocals were inspired by the popular TV show, The Twilight Zone. Up next we will have the superb Reality from Phrenetic System aka Peter Schiettekatte and Frederico Santini. Hailed as one of the very best in our back catalogue, Reality hit hard and true, sending clubbers into a frenzy. A gentle melodic note opens the track before a robotic voice comes through. Powerful beats take over as gritty synths and basses rock the speakers. Karim Boux and Roel Reynders’ project, Belgica Wave, gave us The Wave which caused quite a stir upon release. The track opens with a Gregorian style vox with a crowd ready for action. After a short prayer, the hoovers start and the track lifts off, catapulting us into the stratosphere. Peter and Frederico’s Final Analyzis - El Punto Final (Petrofinal Mix) rounds up this fantastic four track EP. With a soft melodic opening sequence, the track soon brings forth the hardcore vibe as scathing, erratic rave synths weave intricate patterns to the backdrop of that now famous vocal. These four tracks are the epitome of the sound of the time and now you can savour the moments on fresh new vinyl.

Griffé is a new label curated by Chat Noir that focuses on dark and powerfull sounds. Between Electro, Rave, Techno and Acid, this release is a blend of very effective dancefloor weapons.

Paris based, Corsican producer Charlou takes control of the A-side with Mercenary and the complicity of Steve Marie on the track X-Station. The OPAQ Records co-founders deliver two tracks that brings immediatly the heat & madness of a rave anywhere it’s played !
The B-Side welcome Botwin, a very talented new comer based in Lyon for his first vinyl release.

Marlon Hoffstadt follows up his debut Album with new four track EP 'Hands In The Air Eurodance'.
The Berlin native is back with a dancefloor ready good vibes EP, describing it as "Tongue in cheek dance music, for hands in the air moments, on the dancefloor, your living room or under the shower.
The EP is an ode to all the hands in the air dancefloor moments that we are going to miss this summer, due to the Corona Virus."

Active since the early 1990s, the Master of Rave Ceremonies Olivier Abbeloos of T99, lands on Pls.UK with a rave oriented 4-track EP.

The man behind the timeless tune "Anasthasia'" comes back! First in the ceremony, "Deliver" fuses rich synths and melancholic pads with the producers' signature fast paced drums, leaving no rest for the wicked. The darker tone of the second track "Twisted Driver" sets the tone into full energy.

Next up, "Torture" combines a heavy-hitting rhythm with an ever-escalating bassline that peaks into an acid mood. Perfect tune to end a set "The Sleeper Must Awake" brings the vibe directly to the 90s era and closes the EP with high energy and nostalgia.

Celebrated record label and events brand Renaissance announce the next release in their acclaimed The ReMix Collection series – a stunning reworking of Pete Lazonby’s 1994 classic ‘Sacred Cycles’ from one of the biggest names in techno - Drumcode boss Adam Beyer, who teams up with fellow Drumcode alumnae, Bart Skils and Layton Giordani.

The spectacular and atmospheric remix is set to be a huge track this summer. The three Drumcode titans give Pete Lazonby’s sumptuous trance and progressive house classic ‘Sacred Cycles’ a tougher, harder edge that is perfect for peak-time dance-floors. The trio cleverly intertwine the swooping synths and spoken word sample from Genesis’ ‘The Fountain Of Salmacis’ in Pete Lazonby’s original ‘Sacred Cycles’ and inject a heart-pumping bassline and bring in a powerful drop to give it the signature Drumcode sound.

On the remix, Adam Beyer, Bart Skils and Layton Giordani said: “Our main goal was to keep the rolling, hypnotising flow of the track and transform it into a contemporary piece of music that remains timeless like the original. The end result is a strong piece of melodic music that leans on the
progressive ‘90s tip, without losing the power to move the dancefloor. Renaissance boss Geoff Oakes said: “The ReMix Collection has been a real labour of love. Selecting the right track and the right remixer is the biggest part of the challenge and as with the previous releases in the series we landed the perfect combination. It’s always difficult to remix such an iconic classic but the guys have really delivered. Amazing update on a track that’s very close to my heart!"

The ReMix Collection celebrates Renaissance’s proud heritage which has seen the brand at the forefront of electronic music since its inception in 1992. The concept behind the collection is to put a fresh and exciting take on seminal tracks that are closely connected with Renaissance’s heritage.
Previous releases in The ReMix Collection saw Solomun remix ‘The Age of Love’ (2017), Tale of Us remix Energy 52’s ‘Café Del Mar’ (2018), and Maceo Plex remix Remake’s ‘Blade Runner’ (2018).

London-based, Belfast raised talent Swoose lands on Lost Palms dishing up four slices of transcendental music to get lost in. ‘Introspective’ EP traverses sundowners, sunrises and the hours in between. Swoose injects a fresh burst of life to timeless sounds with this lush EP.

Opener ‘Introspective’ is bright, machine music; dreamy shimmers propelled by feel-good four to the floor kicks and spacey synths. Next up, mystical trance cut ‘Musa’ points towards Swoose’s influences. Hedonistic loops, euphoric vocals sit over driving, club-ready wiggler, a clear nod to a sound synonymous with Belfast. On the flip, stripped back ‘Smile’ is blissed out house to transport you to warmer climes. Rounding out the EP, hands in the air come courtesy of emotional ‘Lotus’. Ethereal vocals sit upon kickin’ broken beats, on this enigmatic, moodier cut.

Marlon Hoffstadt debuts his first album on his own Midnight Themes imprint.
Set for release on March 13th 2020, Marlon Hoffstadt’s debut album ‘Planet Love’ marks the ninth release on his label, since its launch in 2017.

Having established his very own signature sound over the years, navigating through feelings from house, disco, trance and eurodance, Planet Love showcases these sensibilities in a long listening format.

While he seemed to not take himself too seriously throughout his past releases, naming records “Ready For Take Hoff” and “Der Hoffmaster”, Marlon now touches a topic which, over time got more and more serious and important to him. Having dealt with anxiety and panic attacks in the past he developed his very own mantra, which one could already recover in projects such as his phone free "Savour The Moment" events at Berlin's Renate.

“Be kind. Be humble. Take Care. Give Love. Because only love will set you free”.

This simple but powerful mantra, that he kicks his album off with, is not only his very own guide through insecurity and fears that he faces in his life as a musician, father, student and promoter. Much more it is a reminder that true success is not defined by heavy touring, big money and fame. Instead being successful means to be kind and caring towards yourself, your fellow humans and the environment and that most importantly love is stronger than anything else.

The full album is out March 13th, 2020 and is available digitally as well as on a 2x 12” double LP. It comes along with a full cover artwork from Hermann Reimer, titled “Ewige Gärtner”.

Inner atmos and next time – rain into rivers, rivers to rain.

Sequence is subjective, irrelevant – it’s where we stand. Out of order, we dissolve and reform, coming together to come undone. There is no first, no now, no next – just precision points in the wide deep sky.

Another bang, another – it’s the reading which is important. Repeating in parallel, the natural loop is healing; repair, resonance, return. We live in a fragment; soft light and clouds drift like dreams into memory, showing movement in the mirror.

In this present, we are touched to have unreleased business from Memphis. In unlocking the stoic DAT tapes we open a direct channel from 1993 to this now; three tracks which are meditative, essential rhythm with direct, organic charge. It’s Dream Night Dance Music and Osram 509, with RHK, En-Trance, and Microgravity.

More poetry in remembering our first release was also Memphis. Big complex loops and inner paths. Who’s been here before? All of us, one of us, none of us.

Originally released by Michael Simon & Shahin Moshirian back in 1996 on Master Maximum Trance Traxx, Silverplate is considered one of the best Hard Trance releases of all time, with the vinyl release becoming highly sought after over the years.

Following Michael Simon giving us his permission, this massive Hard Trance Classic is being repressed, 23 years later, in collaboration between Simon Cutmore & Underground Music.

Although the original DATs were no longer available, this has been remastered from uncompressed CD source, and sounds fantastic. The label artwork pays homage to the original sleeve & centre label, and comes in a generic sleeve.

* Just like Edward Artemiev's elemental soundtrack to Tarkovsky's masterpiece 'Stalker' played an essential role in enhancing the film's highly empirical experience, or Badalamenti's iconic contribution to David Lynch's utterly hypnotic, trance-inducing body of work, 'Losing Your Virginity...' shines with a similar poise for setting up its own deeply evocative cinematic playgrounds. Images rise to the surface in a deftly-manoeuvered chaos of sound, elusive like sand gliding from one's hand but haunting like a first time. There is frailty and strength, despair and also ecstasy but more importantly, there is a bigger-than- life quality to this fine collection of mazy proto-tech and drone slabs, that seems to not only emulate concepts for what they are but also what they go against. Proposing rather than proclaiming, questioning rather than answering - moving feverishly as we all do, unsure of what tomorrow holds but well avid to disclose its omens.

Life and Death’s standout release schedule continues with a special new single from Swedish innovator Mr. Tophat that comes from his album Dusk to Dawn, while label boss DJ Tennis also steps up to add his own spin.

Mr. Tophat always makes a big splash, whether crafting epic, disco-licked house adventures, putting out strictly limited vinyl on his own Junk Yard Connections or collaborating with pop sensation Robyn. Next to an EP with the Swedish star, he also co-wrote and produced two songs on her latest album Honey. His taste and style straddles various musical worlds and means you can never predict his next move. A true original, this year alone he’s put out a magnificent three-part album of house, ambient and leftfield electronics and now aims for the dance floor on this latest massive.

At over 12 minutes long ‘Time Lapse’ is another Mr. Tophat masterclass in musical tension and narrative that is embellished with smart filter tweaks, dreamy vocals sounds and pixelated melodic rain. It is driven along by rubbery and propulsive kick that form an inviting bed from which you can gaze at the cosmic and sinewy chords that constantly shape-shift towards the heavens. This is a track that will have you lost in space and time and utterly enchanted by the majesty of it all.
DJ Tennis then steps up with a remix and is himself having a busy year that sees him release the Redrago album with Red Axes. Here he ups the dance floor clout with crisp percussion and more upright drums. Gorgeous arps will have people reaching for the skies and utterly lost in amongst the stars.
These are two terrific journeys that make for moments of magical dance.

After several records on Ransom Note, Rawax and his own Midnight Themes imprint in 2018, Marlon Hoffstadt continues his steady outcome with his second EP this year. Initially only produced for his sets and the dance floors of his Savour The Moment event series at Salon Zur Wilden Renate, 'Ready For Take Hoff' showcases Marlon's enthusiasm for trancy and mellow vibes. Somewhere in between of techno, disco, trance and proto house this EP includes everything you can expect from Marlon's dj sets right now.

We’ve reached into the archives and pulled out another popular classic to be given the exclusive 7-inch coloured vinyl treatment. This time Blue Alphabet’s Cybertrance and Quixotism are in the spotlight. In 1994 Blue Alphabet sent shockwaves through the trance scene and pioneered the newly found Nu-Nrg niche that existed only in the deepest darkest corners of the scene. Four producers, Christophe Vervroegen, David Brants, Gregory Dewindt and Peter Schiettekatte made up the group over the years and together they rocked the globe. These four guys also make up a vast number of aliases who dominated many releases for Bonzai collectively, far too many to mention here. Cybertrance delivers the quintessential energetic trance track that is always guaranteed to lift the party. Quixotism stood firm on its own as it delivered an energetic and uplifting trance explosion. The simplicity of the melodies is so powerful it reached deep into our minds as we were carried along by a rip-roaring bassline. The release of Marc‘s album „Voyage de la planète“ in 2017 marked a new era of his career. With ten rather beatless tracks where he combined his definition of electronica with classical instruments like violine, cello, double bass and piano Marc began to walk the path of fresh sounding music for the brain.

The title track has been the most successful one so that Marc called no one else than Erased Tape‘s poster boy Ben Lukas Boysen from Berlin to contribute his very own interpretation. Ben created a typical and unique version which comes along with a, believe it or not, 4/4 kick pattetn towards the end. But listen yourself, it totally makes sense. And Bordeaux‘s best Ocoeur made a short but epic ambient version you also should not miss.

4 techno tracks with rave and '90 trance sounds, wisely mixed with modern ones. Lucretio in the A side with an industrial digital track; same taste for Dove Quiete's track. The B side is characterized by two melodic and trance tracks from Albanish People and Stic.

"Elossa Records" fourth release is a melodic fresh breeze of balearic House from Miro-Benji & Stuster. A very talented duo from Finland who have been active as DJs and producers, for several years in the club music scene in Helsinki. They’ve also gained reputation for their NICE LIFE and Soft Assault Orchestra – projects. 'Magia EP' delivers quality down- and uptempo tunes, with a tropical, electronic touch.

Trying to build cultural bridges across the world, powering connection between dancefloor activists, Hard Fist thinks Princes Of Abzu not only as a compilation but as a tool to give space for expression to local legends like Kaan Duzarat in Istanbul or to upcoming artist such as Linja or Feller who are doing here their debut on wax. A tool to promote another vision of dance music, obviously produced to dance, but also to think, to raise curiosity, to keep a daring spirit and an open mind.

Power Culture is the union of Emmanuel and Tim Tama. "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." This project aims to melt the experience and the world of the two artists in one single place. Both known for their very unique style started to work naturally on music, figuring out lately that the entire project was right there, in front of their eyes, Power Culture is the result of the collision of many styles that dominated the 90's but look forward to the future, with a wider angle. Techno Culture has been crucial to the development of many crafts, and once in a while some projects tend to define a line in time, this is the aim of this project.

Tralala Blip are an Australian unit of differently-abled musicians hailing from the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. Over the past decade they have carved out a unique position in the Australian electronic music community. Working to overcome a range of challenges imposed by their disabilities, Tralala Blip have created a range of approaches to instruments, performance and composition that allows them to seamlessly create music together. Eat My Codes If Your Light Falls is their first full length album in over five years. It charts out an entirely new sonic universe that is the resolution of several years of intense live performance and expanded studio experiments. Produced by Lawrence English, the record explodes their working methodologies and reveals a collective sacred heart that is fuelled by their intoxicating post-electro pop melodies and diarised lyrical poems.

Eat My Codes If Your Light Falls is in many ways the first work in a new chapter of what Tralala Blip are becoming. It resolves their experimental practices and focuses that energy within a tight framework of explicit song form and entirely personal production aesthetics. This is their voice, articulating their stories. It’s for us to listen and begin to understand that which lies in parallel with our everyday. Beyond their extensive performance commitments, they have presented their work as special guests of TEDx, have had a stage production created about them and have instigated many workshops for other differently abled musicians and artists. Their goal is to reconsider the nature of creativity, especially music making and to push these process beyond any sense of the normative or commonplace.

Celebrated internationally for their relentless pursuit of a level playing field in music creation, they have been fortunate to be supported by festivals such as Unsound, Liquid Architecture and arts facilities such as ZKM Kahlsruhe.

The A-Side is a 7” edit of the classic ‘Monged Out’, edited by none other than Dave Wallace from Aquasky/Mad Dog. A heavy, no nonsense jungle anthem from 1993!

The AA-Side is a 7” edit of an unreleased Mad Dog track, recorded in 1993 and only recently found on DAT tape in 2019. The tune is called ‘Hypnotise’ and is a more uplifting track, with bundles of rave energy and jungle vibes.

For its fourth instalment, Interstate welcomes Copenhagen's Schacke. Rooted in punk and noise, the Danish artist grew into becoming one of the key figures of Copenhagen's scene and inner part of Courtesy's Ecotherm and newly found Kulor imprint. On INS004, Schacke delivers three originals, exploring musical spheres that are both brutal and graceful. The opener "Cold Hands" kicks things off on a dark yet atmospheric note with driving percussions that make your body shake. "It Was All A Dream" is built around an irresistible synth loop that is accompanied by angelic noises and winds. While this track blooms in its flow and drive, the short break shows what an exceptionally gifted producer Schacke is.The flip-side features the title track "Met Her At The Herrensauna" which is the record's most euphoric. Dazzling leads, shimmering synths and a somewhat otherworldy yowling loop drive this track which has all potential to create the special dancefloor moment one won't forget. At last, IBON, another Copenhagen talent, delivers his take on "Met Her At The Herrensauna" by giving the original an even more clubby and trancy touch. The two combined make this 130bpm and upwards Copenhagen take-over complete!
