Vatican Shadow - Media In The Service Of Terror

Dominick Fernow laces up his Vatican Shadow boots for the project's first set of drills since 2014 and one of its finest ever transmissions, trampling in the wake of his fierce new Prurient record Unknown Rains, for Hospital Productions.
Reflecting on a world much unchanged, even intensified since his last dispatch, Media In The Service of Terror works classic VS signatures measured with increased momentum and propulsive energy, divided into seven parts and imbued with that dramatic melodic arrangements that works beyond the club.
Stepping farther away from the 'floor, he's in scowling, contemplative form with Ziad Jarrah Studied Mathematics and at his best when working between spheres, as with the industrial reggaeton roil of Take Vows in both its versions, and particularly the pensile atmosphere of Interrogation Mosaic.
One of the best Vatican Shadow drops - bar none..

Manuel Di Martino - Raw Intentions Ep - One Sided

After the great debut of some month ago, Spectral Rebel is ready to return with another massive release, this time signed by a further coming up artist in the techno scene: Manuel Di Martino. Known for his leaning for an old school rugged way of interpret productions and sets, Manuel shows us his acidest side in a one-sided 12inch vinyl, accompanied by the new young revelation of our times, the composer, arranger and pianist Raffaele Attanasio, making this second release, an absolute masterpiece.
'Raw Intentions' isn't only the release title, but the perfect concise description of the entire incision. The original one starts with a simply running nocturnal rhythm hard and chary at the same time but, after a while, give off, almost as a surprise, its real soul, an incessant flooding river of acid stabs, angry bites which rain in a fluctuating progress inducing any individual on the dance floor to deal with an huge sharp wall of sound waves. Raffaele Attanasio put his sign on with an unique and nonpareil version, combining both his distinctive mark of piano artist and his 'raw' soul represented by his alias X501. Almost heard several times in his live sets, this work is recognizable for the mathematically combination of overdrived harsh kicks crossed by acid stabs, all broked suddenly by a melodically solo piano touch which puts you in a short deep dream. Finally 'V3' closes the EP as a digital bonus original track that confirms the acid taste of the release with an hammering pulsing drum kit worthy of the oldest techno tunes.

3TH keep on releasing techno with an eclectic vision, each track has its different shades and rhythmic approaches. Act 83 and 86 are both powerful tools that are lead by acidic repetitive patterns and distortions. Act 100 contains a raw and strong beat that travels through cosmic and "epic" soundscapes. As conclusion, Act 63 is characterized by emotional melancholic melodies and brain-dance music, accompanied by succession of rousing rhythmic evolutions.

Ossa Di Mare - Heautoscopy

* Blackwater starts it's third cycle with it's ninth release with an EP from London based duo, Ossa di Mare. A record that has come from the dark internal depths of a carnal energy between the two artists that make up duo, constructed around the idea of hallucinogenic experiences induced by dimethyltryptamine. Each track relates to a understanding and connection throughout the experience. The EP opens with 'Heautoscopy' A hallucination in which one see's one's own body from a distance. A very intense piece with influences from psychedelic music and pitch dark tones all well balanced with a proper veteran approach.

* On the same side '5 - MeO' follows- A chemical compound within dimethyltryptamine that let's you experience a near death sensation. Calm and relaxed pad lead through the percussive sounds in an infinite story. The B side comes with first track 'Asphyxia' -to show the dark face of the Ep. The entire piece is expressing the condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen, causing unconsciousness or death. Claustrophobic echoes and reverberated atmospheres for five minutes of deepness. 'Hypnagogia' - Is the experience of the transitional state from wakefulness to sleep: the hypnagogic state of consciousness, during the onset of sleep. Once again the main concept of the duo dominates into instruments, all well mixed and calibrated to the end. The Ep closes with Elle's remix of 'Asphyxia'. A perfect closing track, ethereal dark loop.

Luis Flores - Test Pattern

the Berlin based Techno imprint calls upon on one of Mexico's most reliable provider of unconventional, genre crossing electronic music. As usual, Luis Flores delivers his unmistakable trademark style with a minimal use of elements, a rich spectrum of textures and a dark, trippy dance floor pull. On 'Test Pattern", the man who actively helped Guadalajara, Mexico, to become a hot spot for electronic music, releases two outstanding original productions entitled 'Program' and 'de-Program". On the second track of the EP, a remix of 'de-Program' by Tommy Four Seven, CLR's core artist and consistent producer of exceptional Techno, picks up and accentuates the slow burning, hypnotic vibe of the original and takes the listener on a deep and exciting sonic exploration. Both tracks by Flores are skilfully crafted 'A' sides and will, like many of his previous work, make it into the playlists and charts of the most respected players in the scene, which along Tommy's remix, makes this EP a must for all aficionados of cutting edge, bass-heavy Techno.

* The mysterious Nurve follows up on his Tectonic debut, originally released back in 2014, with 4 crunching darkside cuts, conjuring the spirits of Ed Rush & Optical circa late 90's, to appear here in a techno form.* The EP opens with 'Pyromaniac', a homage or even a love ode to the power of fire, which, like the track itself is both mesmerising and bewitching, entrancing and delirious. Next up, in collaboration with Caski, 'Brain Sugar' takes the mood deeper, continuing with the mystical vibes and meticulous  tech-heavy programming and adding a more tribal dimension to proceedings. * 'Cabana' hits hard straight from the offset, forming as the more rolling dance floor focussed track of the EP, while holding true to the palette and moods of the rest of the EP. Finally, closing up, is 'Drugs Don't Work', an ambiguous statement met by the broken rhythm of the track and disintegrating trajectory it takes.

A Thousand Details & Sturqen - Kantes

It's been almost 2 years since our inaugural vinyl release, but after a long gestation period, the 2nd Reaktivate vinyl EP is finally here, and we hope the wait was worth it. We certainly feel very proud of it and are aware of what it has to live up to, after having one of the tracks from RKTV001 going as far as landing a slot in Pangaea's FabricLive 73 Mix-CD.
The idea for this release was born even before the 1st one was out on the streets. It's the story of how a bunch of music fans tried to make their dream release come true. The common goal was to put together a release that summed up what the label stands for, irregardless of commercial or dancefloor acceptance. It was a question of faith, belief, and musical passion coming together. Everyone at RKT has long been a fan of Portuguese duo from Porto, Sturqen's brand of power electronics and defiant experimentation and felt in that in their work, there was a techno sensibility worth stimulating. Label mentor A Thousand Details (Gustavo Lima, one half of Quantic Spectroscopy) is a particular fan and felt Sturqen's music inspired him to stretch his own musical muscle towards less obvious and straightforward directions, so the invite for a collab felt natural and was promptly accepted. The result was a collection of pieces that put together Sturqen's free-form twisted and burned industrial explorations, with A Thousand Details's rhythmic inclinations and desire to break free from dancefloor convention. Three pieces were carefully selected with the intention of showcasing the range of the project, but other ideas were explored and presented to someone who, from the start, seemed like the most natural fit for a remix : canadian rhythmic noise masters Orphx. This is where the dream part of the projected starting becoming a reality : to our collective delight, Orphx are fans of Sturqen's work and immediately jumped at the chance, delivering an engrossing, hypnotic and majestic remix for 'Canis'. The final piece of the dream gained form when almost by chance, RKT fan and friend, and UK industrial techno enforcer Casual Violence, got word of the project and told us he wanted to have a go at 'Kantes'. What he came up with sealed the release in ways that, as far reaching as our dreams were, we couldn't have envisioned : a scorched-earth techno slow burner that glues all other pieces together.
The music presented in this release turns out as being a perfect reflection of the ideas that were at it's the genesis and the struggle to make them true. It's not far-fetched to say that even if we had never done anything before this record, or do anything else beyond it, the whole journey was made worthwhile by seeing this come true. We can only finish by saying what matters the most. Thank you to the artists for this beautiful nightmare, thank you to you for lending us your time and ears and being the most important part of it.

Andy Stott - Faith In Strangers

Andy Stott returns with his first new album since 2012's 'Luxury Problems', no.55 in Pitchfork's 'best albums of the decade so far'

- It also featured high in numerous year-end charts in 2012; including The Wire, Resident Advisor, Pitchfork, The Quietus, Tiny Mixtapes,

PopMatters, XLR8R and more

- Includes vocal contributions from Alison Skidmore on six tracks

- The album straddles analogue club music and vocal pop songs - somewhere between Ron Hardy, Prefab Sprout, Dome, Actress, Cocteau Twins and Arthur Russell

- Mastered and cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy 'Faith In Strangers' was written and produced between January 2013 and June 2014, and was edited and sequenced in late July this year. Making use of on an array of instruments, field recordings, found sounds and vocal treatments, it's a largely analogue variant of hi-tech production styles arcing from the dissonant to the sublime. The first two tracks recorded during these early sessions bookend the release, the opener 'Time Away' featuring Euphonium played by Kim Holly Thorpe and last track 'Missing' a contribution by Stott's occasional vocal collaborator Alison Skidmore who also appeared on 2012's 'Luxury Problems'.. Between these two points 'Faith In Strangers' heads off from the sparse and infected 'Violence' to the broken, downcast pop of 'On Oath' and the motorik, driving melancholy of 'Science & Industry' - three vocal tracks built around that angular production style that imbues proceedings with both a pioneering spirit and a resonating sense of familiarity. Things take a sharp turn with 'No Surrender'- a sparkling analogue jam making way for a tough, smudged rhythmic assault, while 'How It Was' refracts sweaty Warehouse signatures and 'Damage' finds the sweet spot between RZA's classic 'Ghost Dog' and Terror Danjah at his most brutal. 'Faith in Strangers' is next and offers perhaps the most beautiful and open track here, its vocal hook and chiming melody bound to the rest of the album via the almost inaudible hum of Stott's mixing desk. It provides a haze of warmth and nostalgia that ties the nine loose joints that make up the LP into the most memorable and oddly cohesive of Stott's career to date, built and rendered in the spirit of those rare albums that straddle innovation and tradition through darkness and light.

These two meanings of the word 'INVERSO' inspire all the tracks of the label, characterized by a "Noisy and Distorted" sound, where symmetry and asymmetry live together and where analog source and analog processing give a great touch of depth.

collecting orders for another repress!
A year after their much-praised debut album STRGTHS, Avian's cryptic Swedish duo SHXCXCHCXSH are ready to present their second album, Linear S Decoded, this August. From the elegiac opener Entering The S-Cloud, the intensity of tracks such as Elocution and Rudimental Retreat, to the disorienting beauty of Wading Guise and aptly-titled closer Monolithic Conclusion, the LP deftly broadens the scope of SHXCXCHCXSH's singular aesthetic.

Keeping their mystic aura has always been important to SHXCXCHCXSH - so important they didn't want to take part in what they deemed 'the language game' until now. Their previous strict use of fragmented track titles illustrated an ideal of communication purely through music, to service the focus on sound via complete abstraction. Breaking the habit with Linear S Decoded doesn't necessarily indicate a complete break with their approach, but an adjustment to the direction they have travelled since they first emerged two years ago.

As Resident Advisor identified in a perceptive review of the previous LP, among SHXCXCHCXSH's key strengths is the imbuing of their productions with a narrative sense, a sonic progression that moves beyond techno's standard repetition - it's an element of their work that's heightened further on Linear S Decoded, pulling focus from the more grinding, brutalist elements of their distinct sound to reveal the more melodic, almost optimistic, elements that had previously remained in the shadows of the productions until now.

The track titles themselves are evocative about the new record whilst revealing few specifics: no less intriguing than the clustered consonants of the prior release titles, hinting at deeper underlying narratives at play, possibly historically informed, or a fiction of the duo's own making. Either way, definitive answers will not be forthcoming: the mysteries that lay beneath SHXCXCHCXSH's approach to music making have long been an intrinsic part of their appeal. Linear S Decoded presents the opportunity for newcomers and those already au fait with the duo to employ their deciphering abilities, whilst simultaneously offering an expanded and ever more richly detailed landscape to traverse...

Perc Trax
14.02.2014

Perc (aka London based Ali Wells) returns with his second album following 2011's 'Wicker & Steel' the release of which pushed his sound to a wider audience than ever before. From making #5 on the Quietus' best of 2011 list to The Guardian describing it as 'a soundtrack for our times' the album crossed into areas rarely reached by techno long-players.

'The Power & The Glory' takes the Perc sound and expands it outwards in every direction. The rhythmic tracks pulse with more energy and bite than ever before, whilst the freeform tracks add a melodic and occasionally political edge to Perc's already expansive repertoire.

The album features collaborations with two vocalists. 'Speek' includes a contribution from Nik Colk Void of Factory Floor (DFA/Optimo) whilst opener 'Rotting Sound' and lead single 'Take Your Body Off' feature Dan Chandler of London noise rock outfit Dethscalator. The last of these in particular is the kind of track that differentiates Perc from many of his peers. The piercing, guttural vocals, more akin to the short sharp shock of a metal performance
provide the kind of sonic jolt techno used to trade in, yet which is rarely heard these days.

The album will be supported by a tour taking in dates in Europe, North and South America, including launch parties in London, Berlin, Los Angeles and Buenos Aires. Album performances will range from DJ sets to a brand new hardware based live show and all will feature album-based visuals. The album artwork has been designed by regular Perc Trax / Submit collaborator Jonny Costello and this will be the first Perc Trax album to be released on
vinyl, with a 2 x 12" release as well as CD

Dubit & Reggy Van Oers - Xxx Ep Incl. Giorgio Gigli & Mynude Remixes

For our fourth release of the season we have a collaboration EP by Dubit, co-founder & owner of Several Reasons alongside the extremely talented dutch man, Reggy Van Oers. This collab delivers a fusion of experimental future grooves with mysterious atmospheres and psychoacoustic approach which will tingle the senses. The first track B.S. keeps a steady mysterious atmosphere with slow evolving off-beat groove. The next track, Planeti, takes a much deeper approach with an experimental twist. The mood throughout the track can feel to change and evolve giving the feeling of the constant attempt to reach the unreachable.

On the B-side we choose to demonstrate how the inspiration from the A-side can influence a diversity of styles. We start off with a man that needs no introductions, Giorgio Gigli, who delivers a superb remix of B.S. by maintaining the original mood of the track and injecting some serious deep driving techno action. The remix is deep, atmospheric and hypnotic with subtle yet
impactful changes throughout. Last but not least we have co-founders & owners of Several Reasons, Mynude. This remix starts off with an alternative experimental approach only to finally reach a series of alternating climaxes. The mood throughout seems to change and move from an almost melancholic setting to a driving machine-like environment.

Dominic Butler is one-third of Factory Floor, the London-based trio renowned for their wiry, dynamic live shows; his modular electronics are an integral component in that band's devastating cocktails of Morse code electronic blips, drum and guitar. Richard Smith meanwhile, records as L/F/D/M, and debuted with a scintillating clutch of acid tracks on Optimo Music in 2013. Bronze Teeth offers them free rein to explore their own interests in sound, and in particular the potential for chaotic interaction between metallic programmed rhythms and the fleshy pulses of the human body. On 'O. Unilateralis' sprawling opener 'Tapeworm' and the glassy club noise of 'Acetone' and 'Glass Tooth', they appear to be skirting along the edge of control, with their machines wrestling dominance back from their users and sending sparks ricocheting through the mix. For all its monochrome battery, this isn't lo-fi music, nor is it retrogressive. The ghosts of acid house and skull-shredding free party techno lurk in this machine, but they're refracted through a modernist sensibility and a keen ear for sound sculpture: edifices honed from diamond-hard tones and reinforced glass, all wrung from a sprawl of patched-together gear.

Deepbass (abstract Division, Max_m, P.e.a.r.l.) - Sleepwalker

Here it comes the third release from Rising Label with an original track from Deepbass, another Rising artist,
that gives the name and life to this record and gets completed by remixes from Abstract Division, Max_M and
P.E.A.R.L. The original track, "Sleepwaker", is a deep gummy trip into the Deepbass world, shaped on
modern techno. Following, we can find Abstract Division remix, where the dutch guys goes on purposing a
very beautiful version keeping at time an eye posted to the dance floor. On the B side we can find Max_M's
version, a track that goes punchy and energetic from the beginning while keeping all the essence from the
original, simply and very effective. P.E.A.R.L. closes the EP going darker and harder with a broken track,
"loopy" and powerful version to complete another finest techno EP.

Perc & Truss - Two Hundred

Perc&Truss

Two Hundred

12inchPTL003
Perc Trax
04.08.2014

Almost a year after they unveiled their collaboration with the wall of sound that was the 'Spiker' 12' Perc & Truss return to their home on the Perc Trax Ltd label to serve up a fresh four track EP of live analogue jams. Once again the tracks were recorded in one take. All mistakes, happy accidents and bizarre unexplainable audio artifacts have been kept in place, with no post-production or further editing done once the first take was recorded. These tracks cover more ground than the three on Spiker, but the Perc & Truss collaboration is no experimental vanity project, with all four new tracks aiming straight at the dancefloor.

Title track and opener 'Two Hundred' leads the way with caustic acid providing the foundation for a classic London cabbie-rant vocal, whilst 'Judd' layers all manner of malfunctioning effect pedal sounds over a triplet rhythm track. On the B-side 'Forever Your Girl', a mainstay of Perc's sets for months now, leads the charge, as rave interludes provide a breather from the kind of kick drum volley tailor-made for Awakening's Gashouder home. Finally 'Van Der Valk' mixes hardcore stabs over an icy electro-tinged groove and crowd samples, stretching the Perc & Truss sound further than ever before.
