Techno Novedades
The second of two remix EPs for Max Cooper's debut album Human - this one bringing one of the album's most talked about tracks Impacts for the first time, with an acid rework by Pitchfork favourites Factory Floor and Perc's insane, obtuse and uncompromising abstract version. This is also the first release of Harvey McKay's version of an earlier Max track, Von der Klippe Fallen - one long grinding techno beat that opens to the dramatic piano of frequent Max's collaborator Tom Hodge.
DJ SUPPORT Seth Troxler, Dubfire, Noir, Dominik Eulberg, Slam, Sasha, Adam Beyer, Brodanse, Shir Khan, Justin Martin, Pirupa, Christian Martin, Agoria, Richey Ahmed, Psycatron, Andrew Grant, Gregor Tresher and more...

Amsterdam's Indigo Aera label is back with part four of their Lost Archives series. The EP features two tracks, one by Befomo and one by label bosses Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff.
Befomo is a moniker used once only by Rotterdam's Benny Rodrigues, for an album of tracks that he produced some years ago called If One Day This Seems To Be The End. It was a personal project dedicated to his father, which was supposed to remain unreleased. However, following an email conversation with Derrick May, one of the tracks from the album is getting a release here. 'Hugs From The D', a broken drum based deep space funk with celestial pads circling round a jostling drum beat. It's an uplifting, intergalactic bit of music that has real soul at its core.
The flip side is 'Symmetrical', a track by Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff. This one is a seriously fast paced bit of supple and succulent techno with fantastic cymbal work, plenty of slap funk in the percussion and swathes of warming, dubbed out reverb. Once again then, two very special cuts from the Indigo Aera label.

Altren For SA017 Kangding Ray brings an EP defined by dexterity: Tempered Inmid. It is a record which balances the deepest drum with the most celestial synth, weaving a legend of both menace and tenderness. Possessed of an underlying hiss, the title track surges to dampen its muscular beat with a fabric of warm melodies. The discerning 'Dimien Andesso' is the Tempered's partner, shuffling with a considered high-end and off-kilter pads. On the flip KR ramps up the pace in introducing the mendacious thumps of 'Nuis Octury', which he twists into a fever. But emblematically KR once more tempers. Closer 'Ezerb Altren' conjures the image and emotion of an underground lake: depth, resonance, and total, glacial serenity.

Scuba continues his Phenix series with a second installment entirely devoid of the euphoric hallmarks of the Personality era but missing none of the familiar attitude. No trace of vocals, feel-good chords or retro kicks, no real concern for the hour or room, Phenix 2 is instead teeming with mood and spirit.
From the underwater tones of opener, 'Aphids', through the hedonist techno grit of 'Choke' and 'Solitary Confinement', to the free indirect dissonance that is 'Distance', on Phenix 2 we see Scuba at his most impenitent. Cocksure improvisation, heads-down escapism and ardor in restraint are all at play on a record that manages to sound distinct from what came before it, yet all the while one which bears an unmistakable signature.

Big follow-up of Dolly Dubs 1 by Dutch hero Martyn! Both 'Newspeak' and 'What is room 101' will be creating many special moments on dancefloors worldwide in 2013... ecstatic contemporary house tracks making you remember once again what this music is all about. Pure bliss. 'Oceania' on the other hand goes deeep... very intense track with beautiful broken beats and mesmerising melodies for the more adventurous dj. Big release!

Three is the number, Basement Toolz the titel. Once again Rat Life Records is taking Mickey on a night out to the sewer. Here are two tracks made by Credit 00 with a borrowed TR 909 drum machine. Side A is called Korg the Groove, as the title already reveals, it's inspired by a classic Detroit Techno cut. Can you tell which one it is On the Flip side you will find 909ish, one drum machine and one synthesizer, which is not much but all you need and more, plus there is extra noise on the clap to amplify your face slapping pleasure.

What's up
Delta Funktionen starts his own label! What Another artist starting a label Yes!
After several years of dropping 12 inches on Ann Aimee, and the well received album 'Traces' on Delsin, he felt it was the right time to launch his own imprint: Radio Matrix.
What is it about
Radio Matrix will represent the sound of Friesland and the city of Leeuwarden.
The core of the label will be based around producers from the city of Leeuwarden (The Netherlands). So far, releases have been scheduled from VC-118A, Area Forty One and of course the man himself. Next to that, EP's are lined up from guys who haven't had a release yet, but who are fuelling the local scene of Friesland for more than a decade now. But as Radio Matrix is not strictly limited to the borders of Friesland, befriended and like-minded producers will contribute as well.
As dedicated record junkies, everything will of course be pressed on vinyl. However, digital files will be made available as well, so you don't need to visit dodgy torrent sites.
How does that sound like
Drumcomputers and synthesizers. Somewhere on the borders of (classic) techno, house and electro, without sounding too retro.
Delta Funktionen with the first release on his own imprint. Four times 808 power combined with deep Moog basses. Riding a thin line between techno and house with a touch of electro.

Tyler Friedman returns to Kontra-Musik with a series of immersive wax maelstroms, adorned with the mind-melting artwork of Rafaela Drazic. Every track on CCC: BB: BBB: JJ is a controlled experiment in lysergic dance music; an examination of how far you can warp the constitutive elements of techno without loosing it's essential spine. The result is four evolutionary techno suites full of movement and life that make your brain move just as vigorously as your body. As the personal work of a composer creating soundtracks for artist projects - most notably as a long-term collaborator of The Otolith Group, the filmmaker collective spearheaded by pioneering Afrofuturist theorist Kodwo Eshun - CCC: BB: BBB: JJ sums up everything Kontra-Musik is about: dancefloor celebrations challenging the boundaries of expectation and genre.

Tresor Records is fortunate enough to be sitting on a catalogue of past releases that no other label in electronic music would turn down.
Three of the nest in this collection were albums contributed by Surgeon,
Basictonalvocabulary', Balance' and Force + Form' all originally came
out on the Berlin institution between 1997 and 1999.
Surgeon's inimitable combination of Detroit techno and post-industrial sounds emanating from his British homeland found its fullest expression in these masterful trio of releases on Tresor.
The Basictonal-remake 12' accompanied Surgeon's rst Tresor album in 1997, with additional Versions as well as a remix by long-time Birmingham collaborator Mick Harris.

One of the esteemed second wave of Detroit techno artists that emerged in the early-to-mid '90s, Stacey Pullen's place in the electronic music cannon has long been assured.
A skillful producer who values quality over quantity, he made his name via collaborations with Chez Damier and Kevin Saunderson before setting about crafting his own style that bridged the gap between house and techno and led to 2001's artist album Todayisthetomorrowyouwerepromisedyesterday. As a DJ, he has spent more than two decades playing everywhere from intimate sweatboxes to the biggest festivals, and was an early guest in the hallowed DJ-KiCKS, fabric and Resident Advisor mix series.
Stacey Pullen is an enduring artist who has never been subject to the fickle pitfalls of the hype spotlight; he continues to be highly sought-after, with Balance snapping him up for his first official compilation in six years continuing the Australian brand's commitment to supporting the underground's most revered legends, and he has not disappointed with his multifarious selection.
'Growing up in Detroit, we had a history DJs who had radio shows - whether it was a mix or a show that showcased new music' he recalls of his foundations in the art of the mixtape. 'My approach for my Balance mix was to compile music that I don't get a chance to play when I'm on the road, but that's still good music. I also wanted to give the listener a breath of fresh air and play some eclectic melodic tunes, because I love a good melody.' His double-disc mix is the sound of an artist who is truly comfortable in their own skin; of one who has earned their chops for long enough that they don't need to simply replicate his club sets to ensure consistency. A true DJ is able to adapt to fit any scenario, and Pullen's effort perfectly hones in on that sweet spot between the visceral and the physical.
The compilation begins in mysterious fashion with the eerie tones of Marc Ashken's remix of Rejekts Strung Out In Reno, its dramatic drum hits driving us towards the graceful melodic tech of Leman & Dieckman's deft Stomp. As the thumping breakbeat of Folic State's Another Zone (Remix) sweep in, you soon realise that this mix is going to be anything but linear. We move through the gentle piano licks and deep house groove of RaySoo's take on DJ Hightech & IZT's Fearless and into the chugging rhythm of The Revenge's Atmosfear re-rub, signalling the beginning of a disco/Italo-inspired selection of hip shakers. This yields effortlessly to the bubbling atmospheric techno of Cid Inc.'s Response - pitched down to allow its intricacies to breathe more - with a little bugged-out-ness coming in the form of Digitaria's mind-bending Little Boy. The Autotune Remix of Toby Dreher & Dirty Paul's A Try adds some melodic tension and drama to the mix as it builds towards its conclusion in Deetron's fizzling, stadium-sized rework of Huxley's I Want You.
Anderson Noise's UFO and Stacey's own Save Ourselves get things off to a glitchy start on Disc 2, the latter bringing thumping broken beat bass tribalism to the table before another Pullen production, I'm Coming, sets the solid groove in motion. Peter Gibney's twanging Fine Lines continues the hazy, tripped-out feel before segueing smoothly into the epic riff-fuelled tech of E Dancer's rousing Foundation (a nod to Stacey's roots in techno) and then Kevin Over's sorrowful yet weighty 2002. The wonky minimalism of Hoitio's Modern Kush takes the mix back to a more playful mood, the ethereal funk of Alex B's Discordant following in hot pursuit. Next we move into afro-house cut-ups from Jad & The Ladyboy and Oscar P - a world away from the beginning of the mix - before Osunlade's loose and funky jam Schvanna drops the pace. Pullen rounds off the compilation in with some softer sounds, the warm analogue feel of Tom Ellis & Caroline Mulcahy's Off On A Tangent and the old skool breaks and delicate melody of Fake Blood's Music Box drawing the mix to a close.
CD1 - 1. rEJEKTS - Strung Out In Reno (Marc Ashken remix), 2. Leman & Dieckmann - Stomp (Original mix), 3. Folic State - Another (NoGo) Zone (Gurwan RMX), 4. DJ Hightech & IZT - Fearless (RaySoo Dxb Mix), 5. Atmosfear - Dancing In Outer Space (The Revenge Rework 1), 6. Miss Mee - Lets walk down (Dub Version), 7. Roi Okev - Run Giorgio Run, 8. Cid Inc. - Response, 9. rEJEKTS - Skinnfog (Original mix), 10. Digitaria - Little Boy, 11. Sobek - Ubomi (Original Mix), 12. Toby Dreher feat. Dirty Paul A Try (Autotune Remix), 13. Huxley - I Want You (Deetron Remix).
CD2 - 1. Anderson Noise - UFO, 2. Stacey Pullen - Save Ourselves, 3. Stacey Pullen - I'm Coming, 4. Peter Gibney - Fine Lines, 5. E-Dancer - Foundation (Original mix), 6. Kevin Over - 2002, 7. Hoito - Modern Kush, 8. Alex B - Discordant (Original Mix), 9. Chris Carrier & Hector Moralez - Disco Remodel, 10. Jad & The Ladyboy - Be My Friend (Original mix), 11. Oscar P - Reactions Of You (Original mix), 12. Osunlade - Schavanna, 13. Roscius - The Royal Albert Hall (Jona Sul Remix), 14. Tom Ellis - Off On A Tangent (Original mix), 15. Even whilst travelling the globe, djing or touring with Inner City, Saunderson continued to produce and release not only his own tracks on his KMS label (with tracks such as 'The Sound' by Reese, 'Rock To The Beat' by Reese, 'Truth Of Self Evident' by Reese & Santonio, 'Let's, Let's, Let's, Let's Dance' by Keynotes and 'Colour Of Love' by The Reese Project), but he also released tracks by other up and coming artists, releasing classic underground gems, such as 'Flash' by Fix, 'Can You Feel It' by Chez Damier, 'Soundscape' by Kosmic Messenger, 'Definition Of Love' by Kaos and 'Use Me' by R-Tyme. The list is endless.
Fast forward to 2012 and it's hard to believe that KMS is still releasing records. With such a long history, what better way to celebrate than to release a special CD Boxset. The 'KMS 25th Anniversary Classics' will be released on CD, Digital (and for those vinyl collectors, there will be 6 x 12' Samplers). Each format includes a plethora of gems which have been released on KMS over the last 25 years.
KMS may be celebrating it's 25th Anniversary, but there's no slowing down for Kevin Saunderson. He's still producing, remixing and djing (all over the world). Here's to the next 25 years....

Fifth single from the duo Altarboy. Side A: 'The marathon thing' is slow and esoteric track with a long break in which the roman producers rise and fall of bpm. The song takes you on a world reminiscent of memory lane's horror movies. The B-side 'Blackmail' is a techno bomb with references to the early 90s. Wonder Wet could not be more clear than that. The sound of this label is solid as marble.

It's been a while since Delsin help launch the career of Italian producer Hazylujah, but now the two are back in action with a special 10'' vinyl release. Massimiliano Vianello debuted on this label back in 2011 and has since appeared on Media Fury, and here he comes correct with two more raw and jacking experimental house tracks. Few tracks sound as abrasive and in your face as this, and for that reason they once again prove Hazylujah is in a class of his own.

The latest Sound Transmission from Stephan Laubner under his STL project alias comes in shape of a 12 vinyl for likeminded people who are interested in the d-i-y sound research of the Something records audio sense facility. All Music has been recorded in analog mode without any computersequencing in real time. The technical support and programmed tones are coming out of currently favourite outboard equipment like the Pc3k, Orla dse24, K5000 to name a bit of equipment, and from the vast library of STL drum sounds that has been created in the past years. The music vibes are settled somewhere between late-night druggy grooved house feelings as well as vintage touched gravity-free tunes, that should be seen as positive proof that music hasn't to be an always too serious matter. It's sometimes like seeing those blurry pictures in front of your mind's eye shortly before falling down into sleep. Something Vinyl Series 26 can be at some times a nice rescuing escape from harsh unkind reality into an inside resonating Wirklichkeit. Hopefully this record will also be able to put smiles on your face when your turntable needle says once farewell and goodbuy. Enjoy!

Idriss D and Fabrizio Maurizi welcome back to their label Francesco Bergomi (a.k.a. F.Bergomi) and Rush. As eclectic as ever, the iconic Memento Records takes its music catalog one step further with this split Ep, featuring 4 off-the-wall tracks that stand out as some of the most uncompromising ever released on its roster. Gianni Sabato and Alfredo Caforio have been producing collectively as Rush their own Southern Italy influenced abstract house and techno for quite some time now. One of their previous tracks was included in Cassy's Cocoon Heroes Mix, giving the duo international exposure and wide acclaim. Francesco Bergomi releases on Dubfire's groundbreaking SCI+TEC Digital Audio and his music has been played and charted by some of the top djs wolrdwide. Rush's "Raw" is built around a percussive pattern and features a whole array of claps and cow bells that flow along spaced out noises, atmospheric pads and quirky vocals, while 'Quorum"'s orgy of galloping chords is a mind trip. Francesco Bergomi's "Black Ice"'s dark melodies and dub vibes sneak in at 122 bpm, slowing down the pace to an obscure and lurking rhythm, with creeping analog progressions and eerie spectral sounds; "Bodies"'s heavy drums boast open right into your face, and the exploding bass line kicks in like a mammoth low frequencies beast. Old school synth stabs and a ghostly break close off this tune sending shivers down the spine.

For the second release on his young label, Code Is Law, Moerbeck has brought together four producers who all in different ways converge on the idea of 'Wolves'. Eomac demonstrates his exquisite sense for harmonies, Sawf spirals into the convolutions of your brain with his vocal track on 'System' and the newcomers Janzon and Hound Scales slip in their take on industrial sounds. Four tracks with emotional depth that create a powerful pressure on your chest that you can't evade. ... the wolves are coming.
The wolf as mystical creature, his idealisation as an isolated, artist of survival or his transcendence beyond the pack as collective structure all lend themselves to highly diverse interpretation. A snarling wolf in comic book style is emblazoned on the cover, provided by friends and fellow artists Drik the Villain (Death Graff) and Cop 81 (Death Graff). Moerbeck selected the four track titles himself which each embodying a unique standpoint from which to view the contribute and their own ways of seeing. It has turned out well for the label owner to unite these different artists, for they blend harmoniously into the over-arching theme of the release. Eomac, also half of the duo Lakker next to his solo project, demonstrates anew his equisite sense for harmonies and lays atop the dry drumming in 'Myth of Origins' a melodie that contributes to the track's pathos, without seeming overdone. For Stuttgart's Janzon this is his very first release. His track 'Run with the Pack' picks up the tempo and unleashes its force right out of the loop. Just like with the other tracks on this realease and with those on codeislaw001: this is techno for listening, with the greatest value placed on emotional depths and harmonies, all the while maintaining dance floor functionality. Sawf pumps in an endless loop and the Athenian drapes 'System' over his droney modulations like a mantra.
Hound Scales brings in industiral-esque sounds on 'Scent of Flesh'. The Brooklyn producer manages to create a track that generates an unsettling atmosphere, the exact origin of which remains concealed to the listener. You can only sense it ... the wolves are coming.

The track 'Wander Of Base' will be exclusive to the vinyl release of Soweso 20.
We kick off 2015 with Efde's debut EP for Soweso! After delivering a killer remix for Samuel Dan's 'Shake It' release back in 2011, it's time for Efde to take the spotlight. Efde has been captivating us with his compelling dj sets and exquisite selection at places like Trouw and our Soweso label nights. With his 'Move On EP' this all comes together in a a unique blend of jacking house fuelled with warm pads and techno rhythms. Four tracks that are drenched in Detroit nostalgia, but with a very contemporary vibe and an irresistible groove. The title track has been remixed by the amazing Trus'me. The Prime Numbers head honcho has been making waves in the international techno scene over the last decade with hits like 'Somebody' and his recent album 'Treat Me Right". The remix he did for Efde is no exception; the 'Thrust Mix' is a dark and eerie banger that will leave its marks on the dance floors. Don't sleep on this one!
