Mary Chapin Carpenter's anticipated new album, Sometimes Just The Sky, is a celebration of her acclaimed 30-year recording career. The landmark record features new versions of some of Carpenter's most beloved songs as well as one newly written song, which became the title track. Produced by Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Paul McCartney, Ray LaMontagne), the 13-track album was recorded entirely live at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios outside Bath, England. Over the course of her celebrated career, Carpenter has sold over 14 million records.

Recorded in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, Blue Motel is the new album by Bart & The Bedazzled, a brand new musical enterprise by Bart Davenport and his seventh album proper since his solo breakout in 2002. Alluding to Los Angeles with the lights down, it's an amalgam sound of '80s English pop and West Coast yacht rock jams, sprinkled with cinematic flourishes clearly influenced by the understated production of L.A. Takedown's Aaron M. Olson. The jangly pop aesthetic, resplendent with choppy chorus tinted guitar, snappy snares, sax and bass is underlined with life trodden stories about day jobs, dating, financial insecurities, lost innocence and most prominently, time travel.

The album lives somewhere in an imagined past (or future) that is curiously both the 1960s and 1980s conveying the groups's nostalgia for a fantasy world with a cheeky cynicism, despite a perception of a world that is, for Bart, on the downfall. To that end, Davenport's songs are, as always, delivered with a happy and sad sensibility reminiscent of the great Burt Bacharach. From the surreal yet humorous 'The House That Built Itself' to the sad surf music of 'Halloween By The Sea' or the romantic L.A. noir of the title track, Blue Motel arrives with a spoonful of tears, a nod and a wink.

The Bedazzled band lineup, united by their love of the 'Elegant '80s', includes the guitar of Wayne Faler (Dream Boys), drums, percussion and beats by Andres Renteria (Jose Gonzales) and post-punk bass lines from Jessica Espeleta (L.A. Takedown). The four friends from Los Angeles, united in their affection for the more sophisticated sounds of English '80s groups like Prefab Sprout and Style Council give the setlist a more distinctively pop flavour compared to Bart's soulful last outing on his album Physical World, also released on Lovemonk. Blue Motel features regular appearances from female vocalist Nedelle Torrisi (Domino, Asthmatic Kitty) who notably adds the lush layers of harmony on 'The Amateurs'. Saxophonist Billy McShane is also featured on three songs with improvisations that evoke the scene of whales in outer space.

Producer Olson often incorporates soundtrack and avant-garde elements in his own work. His gift for song arrangement, understanding of the synth and penchant for subtlety all shine brightly on Blue Motel.

Domino was a big man in both build and talent. And while he was no Little Richard, cavorting behind the keys, he was the most consistent hitmaker of the Fifties. Inspection of the R&B and Hot Hundred charts between April 1950 and December 1960 reveals that he registered 58 hits, 18 of them million-sellers. Only Elvis outsold him. Six decades after his first recordings, one thing remains the same, if great rock'n'roll is the name of the game, Domino is hard to beat.

Melissa Etheridge is an American musician, singer- songwriter, guitarist and activist born in Leavenworth, USA.
Her 1988 self-titled album was a passionate rock affair with her distinctive vocals, often compared to Janis Joplin. The common thread that links all infectious uptempo songs, emotional difficulties of relationships, love, romance but also an independent spirit for a young woman. The album peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200 album chart and the first single Bring Me Some Water' was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female.

The Music On Vinyl re-issue celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the original album and is pressed on red vinyl in a limited run of 1.500 individually numbered copies.

Jackson MacIntosh may be an alien figure to most, but his resume pinpoints him as near the epicenter of the recent explosion in fantastic pop music currently being forged in the city of Montreal and exported the world over. He spent 2016 and 2017 deploying funky, percolating bass lines on the road for indie pop outfit TOPS.

He recorded and engineered the last two albums for labelmate Homeshake at his now-defunct home Montreal studio and venue, Drones Club. He has collaborated with cherished LA weirdo Drugdealer as well as Montreal's Bernardino Femminielli, all in addition to fronting the masterfully hooky power pop band Sheer Agony. Such is the man's work ethic that, when catching up with MacIntosh, the question that inevitably springs to your lips is: so what are you working on next

Björk has released two remixes of the track 'Blissing Me', from the current album 'Utopia', one which strips back the existing layers of song to purely her voice and a harp arrangement by herself, and another by the enigmatic artist serpentwithfeet who has gifted his heavenly gospel tones to the track.

With youthful exuberance and a catalogue of life-affirming slacker pop anthems, it's no wonder that The Magic Gang are at the forefront of 2018's breaking guitar bands. Recently nominated for Best New Artist at the NME Awards, The Magic Gang will release their self-titled debut album on March 16th on Yala! Records.

The announcement comes after the band's new single 'Getting Along' was premiered last night as Annie Mac's Hottest Record. Juxtaposing joyful melodies with lovelorn lyrics, the track's relentlessly infectious hook adds another contemporary-yet-classic anthem to The Magic Gang's burgeoning songbook.

Collectively the album presents a twelve-track snapshot of everything that The Magic Gang are about. The buoyant bangers that have been mainstays of their raucous live shows are represented by the likes of 'Jasmine', 'All This Way' and 'All That I Want Is You'. The latter song was inspired by tales from Brian Wilson's controversial autobiography 'Wouldn't It Be Nice', especially in regards to his reclusive years following the peak of The Beach Boys' success.

The majority of the album was produced by Jolyon Thomas (Royal Blood, Slaves), while James Dring (Loyle Carner, Jamie T) and former Maccabees guitarist Hugo White both produced a track each. Every song was written by the band - Paeris Giles (drums), Jack Kaye (guitar/vocals), Kris Smith (vocals/guitar) and Angus Taylor (bass).

Having released music under various aliases over the last decade most famously as Renegades Of Jazz, as well as recent incarnation Dem Juju Poets and his Latin outfit Mankoora celebrated producer and DJ, David Hanke, has gone back to his blissful electronic roots with his latest project, Keno. Hanke's love for the early 21st Century downtempo music, as is apparent when you listen to this, his debut under the Keno moniker, entitled Around The Corne. It's far from simply early 'noughties' nostalgi a though, as his keen contemporary ear adds a modern touch tothe proceedings.

Im September 2017 haben der DIY-Tausendsassa Angela Aux alias Florian Kreier und der Downbeat-Slacker Leroy Miller eine Kassette mit dem Titel "Grain In Vain" veröffentlicht. Nun, nur wenige Monate später, schiebt das Label Schamoni Musik die gleichnamige LP der Supergroup der Münchner Subkultur hinterher. Leroy kennt man zum Beispiel aus den Bands Das Hobos und Chat Group sowie solo als DJ und Produzent. Angela Aux ist Teil von Aloa Input, veröffentlicht als Heiner Hendrix Kurzgeschichten sowie Gedichte und organisiert das multimediale Kulturfestival Panama Plus. "Grain In Vain" zelebriert mit knisternden Gitarrenakkorden und analogen Beats anrüchige Lo-fi-Hymnen auf das Leben zwischen Grundeinkommen und Überschwang. Das Ganze siedelt mit Mut zur Lücke irgendwo zwischen Blues, Americana, Folk und Indiepop einerseits sowie Freak Brothers und Donald Duck andererseits. Dem Vernehmen nach verbrachten die beiden Künstler nur zwei Stunden im Studio, um so den berühmten Moment auch wirklich einzufangen. Das Experiment scheint geglückt.

The Numero Group's dive into the deep end of America's private press continues. I Paint Pictures on a Wedding Dress from the Belgian band Zita Swoon was originally released in 1998.

Zita Swoon is a group of artists with very different backgrounds gathered together by Stef Kamil Carlens.

Unlike any other band these members share their different views with other members. Stef Kamil Carlens, former dEUS bass-player, is an artistic leader and driving force and naturally created Zita Swoon. He is the composer, songwriter, musician and visual artist he always wanted to be and now felt the freedom to do exactly what he wanted in the studio as well as on stage.

Carlens is a musical sponge who isn't ashamed of his influences but does something with them. This album gave the band opportunity on gigs during festivals like Pinkpop, Lowlands, Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter.

I Paint Pictures on a Wedding Dress is perhaps the most graceful album he has created. Filled with emotion, soul and rock & roll as you would expect from this Belgium mastermind.
