Phantom Of The Paradise is a legendary 1974 American musical horror film written and directed by Brian De Palma, and starring Paul Williams, William Finley and Jessica Harper.

In the film, a disfigured composer writes his music for a woman he loves so that she will perform his music. However, a record producer betrays him and steals his music to open his rock palace, The Paradise. Betrayed, the composer dons a new appearance and exacts revenge on the producer.

Initially, the film was a box office failure and received negative reviews, however it earned praise for its music, receiving Academy Award and a Golden Globe nominations. Over the years, the film has become a true cult classic.

In one of the most anticipated releases of the year, Harmless are proud to announce that we will be issuing the soundtrack to the forthcoming film, 'Northern Soul' directed by Elaine Constantine. Early viewings confirm that 'Northern Soul' will be the most accurate portrayal yet of this legendary musical movement which
started in the north of England in the late 1960s and has now spread around the world and become a huge internationalscene. The film is due to launch in the UK in October 2014 and there will be considerable mainstream media coverage following the recent TV coverage via The One Show on BBC1 and the Culture Show
on BBC2.

British auteur Alfred Hitchcock appeared on only one album, 1958's Music to Be Murdered By, which was released at the peak of his massive popularity. Propelled by the sinister arrangements of Hitch's musical director, Hollywood veteran Jeff Alexander, songs like "I'll Never Smile Again," "After You've Gone" and "Body and Soul" intermingle with The Master of Suspense's sly monologues making for one unique and harrowing listening experience. Continuing with its soundtrack reissue campaign, UMe will be reissuing this classic back on the vinyl format for which it was originally intended!

Also known under the erroneous title "Schock", this LP is the soundtrack of Mario Bava's eponymous film, also his last one before his death, which sadly occurred three years later in 1980. "Shock" was therefore released in 1977, while the Italian horror cinema was at its peak, led to international success by Dario Argento with "Deep Red" and "Suspiria".

With Goblin at work with Argento, the choice for the music of "Shock" fell on Libra, in some ways 'related' to Goblin anyway, thanks to drummer Walter Martino and guitarist Carlo Pennisi, and they also say about a fleeting participation by keyboardist Maurizio Guarini. In '77 Libra, after a brief experience on the American soul/funk label Motown, had practically split up, yet they found the necessary inspiration to record an album like "Shock", maybe 'goblinian' in its intentions, but full of personality. It contains in fact groovy tracks, delicate and acoustic atmospheres, up to completely dissonant and avant-garde sounds.

"Shock" was released on LP only in 1977 in Italy and Japan, therefore this new AMS Records edition is therefore the first official reissue after nearly 40 years! A small yet important event, celebrated with a colored vinyl encased in a beautiful triple gatefold cover with a marvellous new artwork! The track list also includes four bonus tracks which have been released only on CD until today. A must!!!

This soundtrack by the great Bruno Nicolai (Case of the Bloody Iris, Red Queen Kills 7 Times) for the classic italian thriller EYEBALL directed by UMBERTO LENZI (Spasmo) is so pleasant and entertaining with an authentic 70's Italian cinema feel to it and with a catchy main theme that is definitely one of his best. The score for the cult sci-fi movie THE HUMANOID directed in 1979 by ALDO LADO (aka George B. Lewis) was composed by the legendary ENNIO MORRICONE who created some catchy futuristic synthesiser-based arrangements, great electro-orchestral disco grooves and dissonant atmospheric soundscapes, marking quite a departure from his usual style.

Archie Bell & the Drells were one of the main acts on Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff's Philadelphia International Records. The band's hits include 'Tighten Up' from their first album, 'I Can't Stop Dancing' (both 1968), and a slew more as the Seventies progressed.

The hit song 'Tighten Up' reached #1 on both the Billboard R&B and Pop charts in the spring of 1968. It is one of the earliest Funk hits in music history. The instrumental music for 'Tighten Up' had been developed by the T.S.U. Toronadoes in their live shows before and they brought it to Archie Bell & the Drells.

The phenomenal success of the single prompted the band to rush out their first album, which included the songs they had recorded in late 1967 and early 1968 with The Toronadoes. In 1969 the group recorded their first full album with Gamble and Huff, I Can't Stop Dancing.

Soul singer Don Covay's career traversed nearly the entire spectrum of Rhythm & Blues music, from Doo-Wop to Funk. On 1966's See-Saw, featuring its famous title track, Don Covay rides his most creative crest as a solo artist with a hearty collection of songs.

Its rawness is what makes these recordings compelling. A guitarist as well as a singer, Covay's pickings aren't buried in the mix, and you don't need a Geiger counter to detect the grooves.

Most impressive are 'See-Saw,' 'Mercy Mercy,' 'Sookie, Sookie,' and 'Boomerang,' a call to dance with the feeling of Major Lance singing a Curtis Mayfield song. On 'Fat Man', you wonder if he's singing about his old Washington, D.C., buddy Billy Stewart. The two began their careers with The Rainbows.

In 2009, the original plan for Lamb's Lou Rhodes and Andy Barlow was to play a handful of summer festivals. A year and a half and 33 shows later, they've recorded a new album: 5. Eight years after Between Darkness And Wonder, the inspirational fires have been rekindled and we get to reap the benefits of Lamb's creative reawakening.

The juxtaposition of beat driven programming submerged by an electronic framework and poetry set to transcendental singer/songwriter melodies is still at the heart of their sound, but the (solo) experiences of the past few years have added greater depth and strength to their sound. There are but a handful of composers toiling in terror that fully understand how to manipulate an image. We can easily add Richard Band to that list of heavy sonic hitters.



The veteran music man has sculpted dozens upon dozens of rapturous scores for films ranging from the classic (RE-ANIMATOR) to the curious (MUTANT) to the questionable (LASERBLAST). But perhaps no other work defines Band's genius than the haunting soundtrack he created for his Brother Charles Band's immortal 1989 thriller PUPPET MASTER and its many sequels.



The tale of a mystical puppeteer named Andre Toulon and his troupe of living, lethal marionettes who are dispatched through the ages to commit all manner of mischief and murder, the PUPPET MASTER films are the Band brothers' calling cards, revered B movies that exemplify craft and have over, the past quarter century, have etched a fascinating cinematic mythology.

The Carnival is the debut album released by American Hip Hop musician Wyclef Jean. Released in 1997, the album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number sixteen on the US Billboard 200 chart, and reaching the top Five on the Top R&B Albums chart, while receiving two Grammy Award nominations.

The album embraces many musical genres, including Hip Hop, Reggae, Folk, Disco, Soul, Son Cubano and Haitian music. The album features guest appearances from Celia Cruz, The Neville Brothers and Jean's bandmates from The Fugees, Lauryn Hill and Pras.

The Carnival spawned the singles 'Gone Till November', 'We Trying to Stay Alive', 'Guantanamera' and 'To All the Girls'. The album sold over 5 million copies worldwide, and was certified double Platinum.

Fifth western in a row for Sergio Leone after the Dollar Trilogy and 'Once Upon a Time in The West', 'Giù la testa' (Duck, you sucker, 1971) is also the fifth collaboration between the director and Ennio Morricone, which would be followed by the final 'Once Upon a Time in America' nearly 15 years later, before Leone's premature death in 1989.

World famous and holder of unlimited resources, with 'Giù la testa' Leone directed an epic film that tells of the friendship between a Mexican bandit and an Irish explosives expert, during the historical context of the 1913 Mexican Revolution; lasting over two hours, the film has almost tones of an Hollywood colossal, but its epicness is only occasionally accompanied by Morricone's music, which focuses more on the romance and melancholy aroused by the two protagonists' memories.

This score's main theme alone would have been enough to make it a classic, thanks to the recurring 'Sean-Sean' tune, and especially the melody sung by Edda Dell'Orso, a theme that even the less music passionate will immediately recognize!

Having changed the face of electronic music with his hard-edged and uncompromising but brilliantly persuasive sound, Gesaffelstein returns with 10 original compositions created for the motion picture soundtrack of new thriller Maryland, which also comprises three classic tracks from his discography.

Pressed on double 180-gram heavyweight vinyl, housed in screen printed gatefold and inner sleeves with one of his musical scores printed on X-Ray paper, this beautiful vinyl edition is limited to 1000 copies.

Stay Hungry is the third album by Hard Rock band Twisted Sister, released in 1984. The album features the band's two biggest hits, 'We're Not Gonna Take It' and 'I Wanna Rock'. It also features the power ballad 'The Price'.

It was the irrefutable menace of tracks like 'The Beast', 'S.M.F.' and the massive 'Burn In Hell' that connected with their loyal fans and displayed Twisted Sister's true power. Ironically, the album's very mainstream appeal would alienate their core Heavy Metal fan base and spell the band's overexposure-induced fall from grace, but for this brief moment, Twisted Sister were truly the talk of the town.

With Stay Hungry the New York Hard Rock veterans finally hit it out of the park. Having paid their dues on the tough as nails N.Y.C. club scene, Twisted Sister had finally worn down the opposition and truly arrived.

The Blacklist is the American crime drama television series that premiered on NBC in 2013. The show has received critical acclaim, with many critics praising Spader's performance in particular. The third season of The Blacklist is set to premiere in October, 2015.

Raymond 'Red' Reddington (a stellar performance played by James Spader) is a former United States Navy officer turned high-profile criminal. When surrendering voluntarily to the FBI, he tells them he has a list of the most dangerous criminals in the world that he has compiled over the years and is willing to guide their operations in exchange for immunity from prosecution. However he insists on working exclusively with a rookie FBI profiler by the name of Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone).

This cool soundtrack contains songs by Alice Russell, Bobby Darin and Hozier, as well as 'Welcome Home' by Radical Face, 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton and more.

First Base is an album by British rock music group Babe Ruth. It was released in September 1972 and went gold in Canada, and sold very well in the US.
It was their biggest success, both in terms of popular and critical acclaim. This LP defined an interesting junction between hard rock and progressive rock.

The album contained 'The Mexican', the band's classic song which includes a theme by western soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone. 'The Mexican' has been covered and remixed many times. Other highlights include the powerful rock number 'Wells Fargo', 'King Kong', and 'Black Dog'.

The album cover was painted by Roger Dean, who illustrated many Yes albums.

Silver Cycles is an album by American jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris recorded in 1968 and released on the Atlantic label.

Harris is best known for introducing the electrically amplified saxophone.

The music on this record is by turns swinging, touching, and peaceful bursting with new ideas generated from Harris' plunge into electronics. There is good old Latinized funk in the opening cuts, 'Free at Last' and '1974 Blues'.

Silver Cycles peaked #3 in the Jazz Albums Chart in 1969.

An incredibly significant film, still actual today in many ways, 'Indagine su un cittadino al di sopra di ogni sospetto' (Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, 1970) is just one of the masterpieces in which the director Elio Petri directs actor - one of the best Italian ones ever - Gian Maria Volonté, who here impersonates a police officer characterized by an unstable personality; abusing of his power, he hides his insecurities and a murder committed at the expense of his girlfriend (an irresistible Florinda Bolkan in a state of grace).

'Indagine' is an essential work, both from a cinematographic and a musical point of view, therefore it's one of the best ways to get closer to Morricone's incredibly vast discography. The approach to melodies is minimalist but also unsettling, having to music to evoke feelings of uncertainty and imbalance, which are proper of the main character. The use of musical instruments is more 'popular' and much less symphonic and bombastic; drums or percussions are almost completely absent, nevertheless the listener never loses the sense of rhythm, slow and obsessive at the same time.

Despite the prizes earned by the film - including the Academy Award for best foreign film - Cinevox only released a 45rpm with the main theme of the film at the time, and a first 'full-version' of the soundtrack was only published in the '80s. This new edition fills some other gaps, by including a specially selected tracklist, a never seen before artwork, a gatefold cover with extensive notes and a 30x30cm poster with a vast reproduction of lobby cards and posters of the film.

'Metti, una sera a cena' it is a 1969 movie directed by Joseph Patrons Griffi, made up from an eponymous theater script and especially transposed to the film medium. It immediately obtained consents and success, and paved the road to success for actors Florinda Bolkan and Tony Musante in particular.

So did the music written by Ennio Morricone, who in 1970 won the Nastro D'Argento Award for Best Score. Lounge sounds, bossa nova, jazz (especially the drums touch) and beat (usually still in vogue in the Italy of the late '60s), seasoned with orchestral arrangements conducted by Bruno Nicolai, merge here to one of the most famous soundtrack of the Italian Maestro. A perfect mix of eroticism and melancholy, for a real classic!

This AMS Records edition offers the original soundtrack released in 1969 on Cinevox Record in a new artwork, a gatefold cover and colored vinyl. A bonus track is also included, the song 'Hurry to me' sung by The Sandpipers, a folk/pop trio who became famous at the time for their version of the popular 'Guantanamera'.

Jefferson Airplane Takes Off is the debut album of San Francisco Rock band Jefferson Airplane, released in August 1966. The personnel differs from the later 'classic' lineup and the music is more Folk-Rock than the harder psychedelic sound for which the band later became famous.

Signe Toly Anderson was the female vocalist and Skip Spence played drums. Both left the group shortly after the album's release and were replaced by Grace Slick and Spencer Dryden, respectively.

Third LP in three years and substantially third center in a row, this was 'Felona and Sorona', the definitive consecration record for Le Orme, who became dominators of the Italian progressive rock scene, a status that still resists the inexorable passing of the years.

The long opener 'Sospesi nell'incredibile' shows how rules have definitely been broken: 'Felona and Sorona' can therefore be seen as a statement of freedom and artistic independence, waved in front of an even wider audience. In 1973 in fact the so-called 'new avant-garde pop' was so popular as to influence the famous artists (such as De André with 'E tutti morimmo a stento' or Battisti with 'Amore e non amore') and many musicians were not afraid to break barriers, album after album.

'Felona and Sorona' is, in short, a masterpiece, of those who are made only once in a lifetime, impossible to replicate and therefore even more unique and special.

The album was released in two versions, one sung in Italian and the other in English on lyrics written by Peter Hammill from Van Der Graaf Generator. This is the Italian edition, a faithful replica of the original edition on transparent green vinyl.

The Nightly Disease was very eagerly anticipated in Norway and Germany. It is the second album by the Norwegian Alternative Rock band Madrugada, originally released in 2001. A large amount of record buyers went crazy for Madrugada after hearing their 1999 debut album Industrial Silence.

Madrugada, however, chose quite differently; they returned with this ultra-bleak record. And for the better of it: this is a much better and more consistent album than their debut. The lyrics are more poetic, the songs are much more diverse, and the production is wonderfully dirty, giving the record a rather dangerous aura.

Madrugada has taken elements of the best bits from their past, for example, the beautifully dark 'A Deadend Mind', and combined them with a new rawness and energy found in 'Nightly Disease Part II'.

Spliff was a Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave) Rock band, active in the 1980s. The members were already playing together before they were 'adopted' by Nina Hagen when she came to West Germany in 1977. They recorded two albums with her as the Nina Hagen Band before continuing under the name Spliff when Hagen went solo.

Their characteristic sound was a mix of Electronic music, Reggae and Punk Rock. They recorded 'The Spliff Radio Show' in 1980, their only album in English. After parting ways with vocalist Alf Klimek, the remaining members carried on in German sharing vocals between all four of them. Their album 85555 was released in a limited English edition too, which is extremely rare. Despite their influential status, the band was short-lived.

Many of the musicians subsequently formed a band called Froon. The Other Ones was another offshoot band, which included Alf Klimek, who had appeared on the Spliff Radio Show as Alf Klimax.

Bootsy Player of the Year (1978) by Bootsy's Rubber Band featured two hit singles, 'Bootzilla', which went to number one on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles charts, and 'Hollywood Squares'. The album itself peaked at number one on the Billboard Soul Album charts.

This album finds Bootsy at his peak. There isn't a dull moment on Bootsy Player of the Year. Take for instance, 'Hollywood Squares', a song that teeters somewhere between a dance song and a ballad, sometimes picking up the pace, other times slowing it down to a strut.

Bootsy Player of the Year is one of the most enjoyable P-Funk albums ever. However, by the following year, 1979, it was clear that the P-Funk army was running out of fresh ideas, and Bootsy was no exception. This makes the album even more special in retrospect, because it was among the last of the great P-Funk releases.

A tight, atmospheric and pretty damn funky soundtrack composed by the Maestro ENNIO MORRICONE for the 1970 crime-drama CITTA' VIOLENTA starring the mighty CHARLES BRONSON and directed by SERGIO SOLLIMA. Another hard-hitting score by Morricone with a quite dark mood flowin' from the dramatic to psychedelic along with a touch of funkiness. The famous Città Violenta track, the score's main theme, is celebrated as one of Morricone's most iconic theme.

Recorded live in front of a packed concert hall, or full house if you will, 'Live' Full House is the third album by the J. Geils Band. Originally released in 1972, the record peaked at number 54 on the Billboard album chart in the USA. The Boston based band's first live album was recorded over two nights in April of '72 at the Cinderella Ballroom in Detroit, Michigan, and kind of set up things for the breakthrough success of their next album - especially the tracks 'Serves You Right To Suffer' and 'Looking For A Love' which enjoyed quite some radio airplay in the States. The live album itself charted for 26 weeks and was eventually certified Gold.

Combining Chicago Blues and Classic Rock (and throwing in some Motown too), the J. Geils Band's raw energy seems to jump out of the speakers like a burning locomotive. One of the best live albums ever pressed on vinyl, the only complaint one could have is that the album is too short. Be assured that this rock 'n' roll onslaught is a blast from start to finish.

The Godfather Part II is the Academy Award Winning Soundtrack from the movie of the same name, first released in 1974. This original score was composed by Nino Rota and conducted by Carmine Coppola.

Rota expands upon two of the three main themes from the first film: 'The Godfather Waltz' and 'Michael's Theme', while 'The Love Theme' from the first film makes a brief appearance during a flashback sequence. There are several new themes, including one for Kay (Diane Keaton), and two for young Vito (Robert De Niro).

In 1974, the soundtrack won the Academy Award for Original Music Score/Original Dramatic Score, and it was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

Suspense thriller Experiment In Terror (1962) was directed by Blake Edwards and written by Mildred & Gordon Gordon based on their 1961 novel Operation Terror. The film stars Glenn Ford, Lee Remick, Stefanie Powers and Ross Martinas a psychotic killer, Garland 'Red' Lynch. In the story, Lynch uses a campaign of terror to force San Francisco bank teller Kelly Sherwood to steal $100.000 from the bank for him.

In the film, Henry Mancini's music is used to good effect - it adds a huge amount of suspense and creates some hair raising moments. Now, this awe inspiring classic soundtrack will see a one-off limited run on blood red vinyl, to be released on not just any other day of the year: Halloween!

Tangerine Dream is among the most successful electronic groups of all time. The band was chosen by Michael Mann to write and produce the original score for the James Caan-starring Thief, his 1981 directorial debut. Tangerine Dream added their patented pulses, blips and whooshes to the film's highly stylized visual scenes. Up to this time, no one had ever used a sequencer for a neo-noir film...this score is one of the most unusual of its kind for American cinema.

Rather than a full orchestral score, Tangerine Dream's techno-based score uses synthesizer, percussion and electric guitar making for a fascinating and exciting experience. Tracks like "Dr. Destructo" have a fast-paced percussion tempo while the engaging melody on "Beach Theme" makes it one of the album's most familiar and popular tracks, and "Trap Feeling" has a delicacy that compares favorably to Brian Eno's Music for Films.

The soundtrack and the movie are inseparable and they have both grown beyond cult classic status becoming an important part of the collected works of Tangerine Dream and Michael Mann. Audio Fidelity is pleased to reissue the one-of-a-kind soundtrack on 180g vinyl.

Italian groovy lounge music, very sophisticated and classy, from the great WALTER RIZZATI, known for his legendary score for 'The House by the Cemetery' and '1990: The Bronx Warriors'. An absolute gem. Long forgotten and reissued for the first time ever!

Now we drift deep into the world of Bollywood. 'Hare Rama, hare Krishna' is an Indian movie from 1971 which features an odd story about family problems, the flight of a young girl into the hippie lifestyle far from home and the quest of her brother to bring her back home. The musical framework of this movie has been created by Rahul Dev Burman (1939 - 1994), one of the most prolific soundtrack score composers from India. And the music alone plays a movie in your mind even though you may not know the original flick. It is a rich and deep sound obviously rooted within the music of India but always with a pop approach. There is some acid rock typical for the era, there are Hindi pop tunes with haunting vocals on a background of traditional acoustic instruments. Some western oriented moments hook up with colorful Indian harmonies and even the obvious pop hits have a mystifying power. The playing here is surely excellent for all tunes have been executed by well educated professional musicians. This gets the compositions flowing easily into, through and out of your mind. If you are a fan of Bollywood movies and therefore love the soundtracks, this should be the right thing for you to enjoy. If you wish to go for some music with a straight flow but exotic flavor, this is a great way to start your journey. It is what I would call Hindi Pop, micro elements of ancient traditional music from India transported into new and rather accessible song structures. Since all of this happened during the era of psychedelic rock and powerfunk, you will find traces of these styles popular in the West as well but just in a very small dose so the whole atmosphere and spirit of this music is definitely Indian. It is a different route R.D. Burman takes compared to other contemporary Indian pop artists such as Ananda Shankar who let Western rock and pop and traditional Indian music stand as two equally strong aspects. If this is still new to your ears and soul you will be astonished by its beauty. But anyway, this is some music you won't get to listen to every day.

Breakin' Away is a great follow-up of Soul crooner Al Jarreau to his previous album This Time. The album was released on in 1981 and became the standard bearer of the L.A. Pop and R&B sound. The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA.

Breakin' Away assumes its own identity with brilliant results. 'Closer To Your Love' comes off as a tougher, more confident version of the songs from the previous album. James Taylor's 15th studio album of his first new recordings in 32 years is. October Road finds Taylor seemingly intent on evoking his own past.
