Jackson Finished The Night And Day Tour In May 1983. He Had Been Asked To Contribute A Song To Mike's Murder, A Film Written And Directed By James Bridges. He Ended Up Writing Both A Handful Of Songs And A Few Instrumental Pieces That Were Released On A Soundtrack Album In September. Unfortunately, The Film Itself Was Not Ready For Release Then, Since It Was The Subject Of A Dispute Between Bridges And The Movie Studio That Had Financed It, The Result Being Re-shooting And Reediting, Such That The Film Did Not Open Until March 1984, By Which Time It Had A Score By John Barry And Only A Little Of Jackson's Music Remaining, And Then It Earned Only One Million Dollars During A Few Weeks Of Theatrical Showings, Making It A Disastrous Flop. The Orphaned Soundtrack Album, However, Managed To Get Into The Top 100 And Even Spawned A Chart Single In The Jackson Composition "memphis," While "breakdown" Earned A Grammy Nomination For Best Pop Instrumental Performance.

OUT OF PRINT SINCE 2001, A CLASSIC TRUNK RECORDS RELEASE GETS A RARE REPRESS. NAÏVE AND PASTORAL SPACE MUSIC AT ITS VERY BEST!

HISTORY:
In 2001 Jonny Trunk started working with Oliver Postgate and his Smallfilms archive. The first music issued was the unreleased music from all 26 episodes of The Clangers. To create the soundtrack all music was originally 'drawn' by Oliver Postgate - sketched out in graph form on the original scripts. This was then translated by his good friend and regular musical collaborator Vernon Elliott into the music we know and love. It was all recorded in a village hall in Kent in the late 1960s and released originally in 2001 by Jonny Trunk (cat number SOUP 001), garnering a mass of fine reviews inclsuing a full 5 stars from The NME!. Listening today these recordings have lost none of their naivety and charm, and the Clangers soundtrack remains a seminal work of both TV and intergalactic musical history.

Andrzej Korzynski - Possession - OST

As our maiden voyage into an expansive vat of unreleased music by Polish composer Andrzej Korzynski, Finders Keepers Records presents his previously unreleased electro/orchestral/experimental score for Andrzej Zulawski's surrealist 80s horror classic, Possession. These 25 cues were written and recorded exclusively for the 1981 award-winning film starring Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neil, but due to the progressive, stark and modernist nature of the finished film less than half of them made it on to the actual director's cut - leaving many of the tracks on this spackage totally unheard outside of Korzynski's studio.

The intended Possession score in its entirety marks an important axis in Korzynski's career where his various musical disciplines overlap. In one respect it marks his first forays into to synth driven electronics and disco drum machines, while other tracks epitomise the well honed techniques used in previous Zulawski scores, such as Third Part Of The Night and The Devil, which rely on his inimitable orchestral arrangements and combination of clavinet, Rhodes, piano and electric guitar.

This is the first time any of this music has been released outside of the films original context and is packaged on CD, 12" vinyl and conceptual green compact cassettes housed in miniature clamshell cases reminiscent of the films original VHS release that briefly adorned UK video shops in the early 1980s (before being banned by over excited censors as one of the unproscecuted 'video nasties' in the infamous 1983 tape cull). The important restoration of Korzynski's music aims to shed new light on the seldom manufactured productions of the composer whose vast cinematic catalogue warrants overdue global status alongside other golden era Eastern European composers such as Kryzstof Komeda, Jan Hammer and Zdenek Liska - not to mention the best of the French and Italian soundtrackers, such as Roubaix, Vannier and Nicolai.

Duplicated and carefully remastered directly from Korzynski's original master tapes this album boasts the uninhibited studio experiments and retains the pre-cut ambience.

INCREDIBLE MODERN ELECTRONIC-BASED SCORE TO UNDERGROUND PSYCHEDELIC DETECTIVE VAMPIRE INDIE DRAMA. SO THERE.

There is little history here as this is a new release - but this is simply an amazing modern score to a film you may never have heard about (one directed by Grant McPhee). What sets this score apart is it's clinical post-modern feel - with influences including Mica, John Carpenter, Brian Eno, Goblin, Fabio Frizzi, even with whispers of the 1980s, as well as a musical feel a little like the classic Drive soundtrack.

Yet with all these influences composer Alec Cheer somehow manages to create a new work that sounds unlike any other. It's dark, bewitching, mesmerizing, ear-catching and even 'banging' in parts. Look, it must be good, otherwise Jonny Trunk would not be pressing it. And with a spelling mistake too.

James Taylor Quartet - Soundtrack From Electric Black

Soundtrack from Electric Black' is, however, the culmination of over thirty years of holding onto a musical vision that has developed within Taylor since he was a small child growing up in 1970s Britain.

This vision began to find expression with the JTQ's debut album 'Mission Impossible' and, since then, relentlessly gigging, recording, listening, studying and composing tunes with a view to raising the bar in the UK music scene.

Taking his inspiration from the truly great film composers such as Bernard Herrmann, Lalo Schifrin, Henry Mancini, Quincy Jones and John Barry, Taylor wanted to make exciting, cinematic orchestral music that, as he puts it, 'grooves like a mother fucker' in a way that retains an identifiable UK vibe; punky, angry and hip.

Taylor had always lamented never being able to convince a record label to fully commit to making the record he wanted to make - or, more accurately, needed to make: 'Labels would usually go halfway, give me some budget for a big hornA1. Electric Black

The score to Red Sparrow is composed by multiple award winner James Newton Howard. The score can be defined as one of the most impressive musical pieces he ever recorded. The orchestral grandeur captures the beauty of the Russian ballet. It is full of harmonies and moments of stunning magnificence, providing the correct emotional value for the scenes it accompanies. Howard is using classical pieces by Tchaikovsky's, Mozart and Bach. The soundtrack can be classified amongst the finest music he created during his long career.

James Newton Howard composed music for over 120 films, including the Academy Award-nominated scores for Defiance, Michael Clayton, The Village, The Fugitive, The Prince of Tides, My Best Friend's Wedding and Academy Award-nominated songs for Junior and One Fine Day. Howard also received Golden Globe nominations for his massive orchestral score for Peter Jacksons blockbuster remake of King Kong, his provocative symphonic score for Defiance, and his songs from Junior and One Fine Day.

Ennio Morricone - Lolita Ost

Unreleased until today in vinyl, Lolita is one of the most memorable and melodramatic score of its author. Morricone's original soundtrack accentuates the sensuality and the romanticism based on the main bewitching and obsessive theme. As underlined by the composer himself: "With my music, I only had to follow the director's intentions, to make Lolita a sincere and mutual love story, in spite of the purity and the mischievous innocence of the young teenager". The present edition offers themes and variations written by Ennio Morricone and used by Adrian Lyne in the movie. The composer demonstrates once again that he has become a master in the art of variation. Highlights of the album include the different variations of the main theme as well as the track "Requiescant" performed by the children's choir Coro di Voci Bianche dell'Arcum.

Konami Kukeiha Club - Original Video Game Soundtrack - Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood/Dracula X

Mondo is thrilled to premiere the next in our on-going CASTLEVANIA soundtrack series with the PC-Engine title CASTLEVANIA: RONDO OF BLOOD, and the game's Super Nintendo port CASTLEVANIA: DRACULA X.

Originally released only in Japan on the PC-Engine (a system known in the US as the TurboGrafx-16), RONDO OF BLOOD is one of the most widely missed chapters of the CASTLEVANIA saga. Better known now as the "prequel" to the hugely popular and influential title CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT (the first level of which is a re-creation of the final battle of RONDO OF BLOOD). The story follows Richter Belmont, descendent of Simon and Trevor, on his journey to save his girlfriend and her little sister Maria from the clutches of Dracula.

The game was eventually ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System a few years later but due to the limitations of the hardware, the port of RONDO OF BLOOD was re-made and re-named CASTLEVANIA: DRACULA X - a streamlined and more linear version of the game, featuring a soundtrack better suited to the system's capabilities.

Original Soundtrack - Yellowstone

Yellowstone is the brand new American drama television series about the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. Brian Tyler composed the soundtrack to the series. Brian Tyler shows and explores his more sensitive side and this particular score is far away from his usual bombastic action material. It's with scores like 'Yellowstone' that Brian Tyler proves, time after time, that he has the talent and craft to be amongst the greatest ever; it's his incredible range and his ability to sometimes channel that immense talent and magic to the maximum.

Yellowstone composer Brian Tyler, who once worked and performed in a Native American musical group, said he worked hard to blend his knowledge of traditional Native American music with the melting pot of western cultures in his score. 'What I ended up doing was finding ways to incorporate some of the percussion, some of the woodwinds, some of the instrumentation and weave it into things like cellos, basses, cimbaloms and all these exotic instruments,' Tyler said.

Various - Unusual Sounds

In the heyday of low-budget television and scrappy genre filmmaking, producers who needed a soundtrack for their commercial entertainments could reach for a selection of library music: LPs of stock recordings whose contents fit any mood required. Though at the time, the use of such records was mostly a cost-cutting manoeuvre for productions that couldn't afford to hire their own composer, the industry soon took on its own life: library publishers became major financial successes, and much of the work they released was truly extraordinary. In fact, many of these anonymous or pseudonymous scores-on-demand were crafted by the some of the greatest musical minds of the late 20th century—expert musicians and innovative composers who revelled in the freedoms offered, paradoxically, by this most corporate of fields. Unusual Sounds is a deep dive into a musical universe that has, until now, been accessible only to producers and record collectors; a celebration of this strange industry and an examination of its unique place at the nexus of art and commerce. The perfect companion to the David Hollander curated book Unusual Sounds: The Hidden History of Library Music (out now on Anthology Editions), these 20 tracks, encapsulate the niche and fascinating subculture of library music. Genres were spliced, conventions dispensed with, and oftentimes hybrid music of astonishing complexity was produced. Elements of rock, jazz, soul, even twentieth-century avant-garde composition were all utilized, and no stone was left unturned. As a result, some of the best library music defies all categorization, reflecting the individualistic quirks and artistry of the various musicians who made it. This compilation includes compositions by Brainticket founder Joel Vandroogenbroeck, KPM Allstars John Cameron and Keith Mansfield, Montenegrin-born composer Janko Nilovic, and the Italian film composer Stefano Torossi amongst others. David Hollander is a producer, music supervisor, writer and collector living in Texas. A lifelong record collector, his library music collection is considered by many to be one of the finest of its kind in the world.

Various - Musica Per L'Immagine II - Lost Italian Library Music Of The 1970s/80s

"Lost Italian Library Music Of The 1970s/80s"

DJ and label owner Lorenzo digs out more lost Italian soundtrack recordings from the 1970s and '80s.

The first volume of Musica Per L'Immagine (rough translation: Music For The Motion Picture) came out of left-field in 2017 and, appropriately, left a lot of music fans stunned. Stunned both because the music gathered across the 2 LPs was very fine (and obscure - even hardcore crate diggers had not heard the likes of the Flip Flop Group or The Space Craft's Men) and stunned due to the music sounding almost nothing like that which we consider to be "Italian soundtrack". No eerie Morricone-style electric guitars and harmonicas, no Rota-era baroque strings and folk melodies. Instead, what Musica Per L'Immagine gathered was a grab bag of recordings from the late-1970s and early-1980s that displayed a distinctly Italian tendency to create spacey funk, disco, jazz, easy listening and such. Library music with a soft Latin groove.

Lorenzo, founder of Fly By Night Music and a DJ, crate digger and Peckham record shop owner, found the LPs that provided the basis for Musica Per L'Immagine Volume I during his last trip to Buenos Aires. The resulting compilation received much praise from DJs and aficionados of soundtracks and library music - here was lush Italian jazz-funk possessing a unique, spacey character.

Demand was such Lorenzo set about looking for records for Volume II. This time Lorenzo didn't head to Argentina hoping for more lost gold. Instead, having tracked down the licensees of the original records when compiling Volume I he returned to his native Italy and renewed his contacts with the publishers he found the most pro-active to deal with. While this meant dealing with publishers in Milan and Rome - the capital has long been the epicentre of the Italian film industry while the northern city is where much TV and advertising is produced - Lorenzo also decided to go to Genoa. Here he found buried treasure that had been unavailable for decades.

With Volume II Fly By Night Music is releasing a double album far more than simply a reprise of what made Volume I work.

"Last time I drew largely from my own record collection - this time I've gone and dug from the archives that have been opened for me. Also, for Volume I I put the emphasis on the jazz-funk recordings because they were both so strong and so unknown. This time I've decided to ensure the compilation sounds very cinematic

The stunning soundtrack from Pete Travis' fantastic 3D epic Dredd is scored by the award-winning Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Spooks/MI5). The edgy, industrial soundtrack sets the perfect tone for the bleak metropolis of mega-city one in the 'relentlessly entertaining' movie.

The 2000 AD hero is given a mission by the chief judge - to road test a rookie Judge, the powerful psychic Cassandra Anderson. The judges head for a seemingly routine homicide in the notorious peach trees mega-block, a 200-storey vertical slum run by the pitiless ma-ma clan. When the Judges attempt to arrest one of ma-ma's chief henchmen, v shuts down the entire building and orders her clan to hunt the judges down - leaving the two judges in a vicious and relentless fight for survival.

Paul Leonard-Morgan has collaborated as a producer and arranger with artists such as Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian, Craig Armstrong, Nada Surf and Mogwai; and has most recently worked alongside producer Mark 'Spike' Stent on No Doubt's highly-anticipated new album. Paul was honoured by the US Olympic Committee when chosen to compose the official US Olympic Team Anthem, an honour previously held by John Williams.

The American multi-talented composer, actor and music producer Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Discovery, Legion, The Night Of, Snowfall, Counterpart) composed the soundtrack to the 2018 espionage action thriller Mile 22. The musician Migos recorded the new track Is You Read, which was first recorded for the Suicide Squad soundtrack. Russo took a break from his insanely busy TV schedule to write this and the main title. He delivered a solid, visceral ode to unescapable tension with the added bonus of some melodic pieces. Beautiful cues of solo piano motifs are alternated with dark passages of synths.

Mile 22 stars Mark Wahlberg, John Malkovich and Lauren Cohan. It follows an elite CIA task force, composed of paramilitary officers from Ground Branch of Special Activities Division, that has to escort a high-priority asset 22 miles to an extraction point while being hunted by the government.

A remake of the 1958 horror film of the same name, The Blob is all about an amorphous acidic amoeba-like organism that devours and dissolves anything in its path as it grows, where it begins to feed on the residents of the fictional town of Arborville, California. Much like the original film, the remake has gained a cult following after its theatrical release in 1988.

Soundtrack duties for the film were handled by German composer Michael Hoenig, who actually doesn't need much of an introduction.

Hoenig was part of the burgeoning progressive Kraut & Kosmische rock scene in Berlin where he was a member of the band 'Agitation Free' in 1971. In 1975 Hoenig joined the electronic-pioneer band 'Tangerine Dream' and then went on to collaborate with other big names like Klaus Schulze' & Manuel Göttsching (of Ash Ra Tempel). In 1977 he released his first solo album, the highly acclaimed Berlin School classic 'Departure From The Northern Wasteland'.

Over the course of multiple decades, Emmy award nominee Michael Hoenig has composed a diverse and extensive catalog of material that includes the theme to 'Dark Skies', the soundtrack to the extremely popular 'Baldur's Gate' PC game...and countless others. Horror scores composed by Hoenig include Class Of 1999 (1990) & The Gate (1987)...he also performed on the soundtrack for Galaxy Of Terror (1981).

Michael's music for The Blob is classic top shelf synth-driven electronica that fits the film like a glove. The voices, dark strings and feverish percussion create a rhythmic drive that embodies heroic desperation and a massive sense of relentless doom. Hoenig fashioned a creepy, compelling and atmospheric synth-based score, unleashing textured waves of sonic terror and suspense.

Piero Umiliani - Il marchio di Kriminal

This super cult spy thriller made in 1968 and directed by Fernando Cerchio was the third in a successful film series. Previous installments had featured excellent scores by Roberto Pregadio and Romano Mussolini. The master tapes of this incredible PIERO UMILIANI soundtrack were recently discovered in the composer's archives: combining jazz with 1960s beats, a hint of bossa, spanish style guitar, trumpet, sexy vocals and performed by the elite of the jazz and session scenes at the time, this score is a classic of its kind and a potential lounge music hit!

Old Man's Journey

22.10.2018

With Old Man's Journey, composer SCNTFC achieves something almost magically emotional. The game's narrative is derived from the memories of the hero character - the old man - but the powerful, whimsical and genuine score, through its own aural journey, dares to meet the daunting task of applying to your very own memories. It's a universally adaptive sentiment, accomplished with prestige by the SCNTFC, just as he did with the paranormally poignant OXENFREE. Artist Arno Kiss took that idea of memory and ran with it, crafting a package that mimics a nautical captain's book, elegantly cloth-wrapped, a poignant artifact from the old man's life.

In conjunction with The Criterion Collection's special-edition DVD and Blu-ray release of David Byrne's 1986 film True Stories, Nonesuch and Todomundo Records release a comprehensive soundtrack, collected for the first time in one package and in film sequence: True Stories, A Film by David Byrne: The Complete Soundtrack. David Byrne was inspired by tabloid headlines to make his sole foray into feature-film directing, an ode to the extraordinariness of ordinary American life and a distillation of what was in his own idiosyncratic mind. Byrne plays a visitor to Virgil, Texas, who introduces us to the citizens of the town during preparations for its Celebration of Specialness. As shot by cinematographer Ed Lachman, Texas becomes a hyper-realistic late-capitalist landscape of endless vistas, shopping malls, and prefab metal buildings. In True Stories, Byrne uses his songs to stitch together pop iconography, voodoo rituals, and a singular variety show. Byrne calls the record 'an immersive audio voyage into the little town of Virgil, Texas, in the mid-eighties.' He continues, 'I always imagined that the music written for True Stories should be heard as it is in the film. It makes the most sense this way. Me singing the song that was written for John Goodman's character, Louis Fine, always felt weird to me. It was written for that character, not for me.'

True Stories, A Film by David Byrne: The Complete Soundtrack includes twenty-three songs, many of which are on CD and digital formats for the first time:

· one previously unreleased version of Talking Heads' 'Dream Operator', from the film, with Annie McEnroe on lead vocals;

· three songs from the film that have previously been released only on the Talking Heads sets Dual Brick or Bonus Rarities &

Outtakes;

· five songs from the companion 1986 Talking Heads studio album True Stories;

14 songs from the 1986 film soundtrack album Sounds from True Stories: Music for Activities Freaks - previously released only on LP and cassette - performed by a wide range of artists from Kronos Quartet to Meredith Monk to Pops Staples to John Goodman.

The late great Italian film director Michelangelo Antonioni, perhaps most famous in the English world for Blowup, Zabriskie Point, and The Passenger created his most arresting work, the so-called 'trilogy on modernity and its discontents' in the early 1960s. Comprised of 1960's L'AVVENTURA, 1961's LA NOTTE, and 1962's L'ECLISSE, this is not a narrative trilogy, but instead a stylistic one. With music from the brilliant composers Giorgio Gaslini, and Giovanni Fusco this is an essential collection and a beautiful look into the sonic world of Antonioni's most brilliant work.

Graham Coxon - The End Of The F***ing World - Ost

The release of the debut original soundtrack score from Graham Coxon to accompany Channel 4/Netflix series 'The End of the F***ing World'. The 16-track album will be released as a digital download on on 26th January, ahead of a vinyl release scheduled for March 2018.

Recorded in Graham' home studio in Summer 2017 the album was written, composed and performed by Coxon and marks Coxon's original soundtrack debut. The first track to be released from the album is titled Walking All Day

The project saw Coxon write over 40 original pieces for the show. He said:
There were days were I wrote and finished three or four new songs in a single day. It was mental, I've never worked to that kind of schedule before. But the creative process around observation and interpretation is one that is very familiar to me. I feel very comfortable reacting to things and adding my bit.
And this show particularly appealed to both my appreciation of dark music as well as my dark sense of humour. It felt like a good fit.'
The End of the F****ing World is an eight part darkly comic TV series based on the 2011 graphic novel by Charles Forsman which follows teenage runaways James and Alyssa (Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden) as they embark on a road trip across England. Directed by Jonathan Entwhislte and Lucy Tcherniak, the critically acclaimed series is described by Noisey as Richard Ayoade's Submarine meets David Lynch's Wild At Heart with a splash of Black Mirror's bleakness and ink-black humour thrown in.'

In Mirrors - Escape From Berlin

Escape from Berlin is the last surviving nitrate print of a film thought lost to time — a bleak noir fantasy on the outer limits of sound. Its after-hours tenor has the beautiful blur of a night spent in the gutter, a confrontation with despair long past last call. Defiance in the face of suffering. Curtains of texture and electronic noise drape the walls.

Recorded in deep isolation on location at Nite Prison in Vancouver, the album plays as a dizzying singular collage. Acutely focused on texture & the negative space between moments, composer & poet Jesse Taylor is the anchor in a revolving cast of cameos. For this album, his partners in crime are Suzanne, Hiromi Inada, & Andrew Grosvenor on clarinet. As enigmatic & fleeting as reflections in a hall of mirrors, these themes are fractured & textural. Taylor ambitiously asks us to look beyond the mirror...through to the other side. We imagine Phillip Glass playing chess with William Burroughs while Klaus Schulze slaves over a droning synthesizer in the corner. We hear vapor trails from Coltrane, Carpenter, & Amon Duul. This debut is a glance at one of the most varied artists on Italians Do It Better's roster. Johnny & Jesse have been collaborating behind the scenes since 2003. Distilled in a process strengthened by time from Portland to Montreal...Los Angeles to B.C. In Mirrors blurs the imaginary lines between genres.

18 Creepie tunes from the most famous horror movies in history. Shudder with the music from 'THE BAD SEED'. Legendary tunes like 'The Phantom Of The Opera'. Or 'PSYCHO'. There is no sound more formative and fundamental to horror-movie scintillation than the screeching strings in the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho' composed by Bernard Herrmann. Those strings, forcibly played, seemingly sounding in an alien frequency, have freaked people out ever since. There are the soundtracks from 1960's 'Little Shop Of Horrors' and 'The Return Of Dracula.' The final track is for 'I Bury The Living' praised for its "dark, moody cinematography", "sometimes striking if sparse visual design" and "ominous music".

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: John Carpenter - Halloween 40th Anniversary Edition

This 40th anniversary release of the original Halloween music composed and performed by John Carpenter in 1978 presents the original Halloween film score as it was mixed within the film. The audio is taken from the "music stem' derived from the 35mm mono tracks that comprised the dialogue, sound effects and music of the original film which when combined, comprise the complete soundtrack of the classic film. The first LP album of Halloween, released in 1982, was a remix of the original 16 master by Alan Howarth, with instructions from John Carpenter to re-mix the tracks to represent the best sound of the music, and not necessarily be committed to match the music as mixed for the film. in this release, Alan Howarth carefully transferred the film music stem, assembled the music in chronological order as presented in the movie so the listener can visualize the film in their minds eye while taking a musical journey of the most famous horror score ever!

The Soldier's Tale is a theatrical work 'to be read, played, and danced' by three actors (the soldier, the devil, and a narrator) and dancers, accompanied by a septet of instruments. The libretto relates the parable of a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil in return for unlimited economic gain. The music is scored for a septet of violin, double bass, clarinet, bassoon, cornet or trumpet), trombone, and percussion. The libretto is adapted by Roger Waters from the translation by Michael Flanders and Kitty Black, based on the original text by Charles-Ferdinand Ramus.

As the work opens, Joseph, a Russian soldier, marches toward his hometown on leave, pack in tow. ('Marche du soldat'/'The Soldier's March') He rests by a stream and rummages through his pack. First he takes out his lucky St. Joseph medallion, then a mirror, then a photograph of his girlfriend. Finally, he finds what he was searching for: his fiddle. He begins to play. ('Petit airs au bord du ruisseau'/'Airs by a Stream') The devil appears disguised as an old man carrying a butterfly net, but Joseph does not notice him and continues to play. The devil sneaks up on Joseph from behind and startles him.
