'The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York's secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.' Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a British fantasy action film directed by David Yates and written by J. K. Rowling, based on Rowling's book of the same name. A spin-off and a prequel of the Harry Potter film series, the film will be the first installment of a series of five films, and stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol and Colin Farrell.

The score is composed by Grammy, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Academy Award Winner James Newton Howard (Dark Knight, Hunger Games series, I Am Legend, Batman Begins).

Solomon Citron's debut, a non-existing cinematic movie soundtrack called; "Kampu-China".

On the 4th January,KingUnderground Records are releasing "Kampu-China" on a 6 track vinyl EP, streaming and download.

Solomon Citron was born in Rostov-on-Don in the south of Russia. He's a professional musician and talented multi-instrumentalist.

Paying homage to his childhood memories of 70s action movies, he decided to create a soundtrack for "Kampu-China" - a fabricated, fictional movie. Behind the closed door of his home studio in Russia, Solomon composed the soundtrack in just two weeks, using only his imagination and the make-believe storyline as his inspiration.


The film is set on an imaginary world, where the mythical country Kampu-China lies. Shootout scenes, kung-fu fighting, crime pursuits, betrayal and revenge make this movie a classical action movie of the 1970s.

The soundtrack was composed using 3 instruments; guitar, bass and drums which has captured the sound and atmosphere of that era of movies.

Solomon grew up listening to hard-core metal and punk rock, as he got older he delved into all sorts of indie music and these days is a big fan of "old school" hip hop which all helped influence "Kampu-China".

returns to score Ben Wheatley's brand new film 'Happy
New Year, Colin Burstead'.
Mansell's score is a hypnotic and ethereal wash, built
around organic instruments including insistent strings
with a Celtic flavour and a brilliant use of woodwinds.
The score slowly descends into something twisted and
dissonant at points, beautifully laying a nod to
Wheatley's interest in folk horror. Toward the end, the
score features '[exeunt]', a beautiful piano piece
reminiscent of Ryuichi Sakamoto's 'Merry Christmas
Mr. Lawrence'.

From Guy Skornik, the composer and arranger behind
Popera Cosmic and Pour Pauwels, comes the enigmatic
instrumental cues that provided fellow existentialist and
notorious auteur director Alejandro Jodorowsky ('The Holy
Mountain') with the soundtrack music to what is now
considered his rarest and most overlooked feature film,
'Tusk'.
As part of Finders Keepers' ongoing dedicated Jodorowsky
soundtrack series the label presents the original film edits
from the 1979 studio sessions featuring Steve Hillage
(Gong) and members of Cossi Anatz.

Cherrypicked from pre-recorded synthesiser-fuelled cosmic
pop sessions by Skornik, these compositions provided
'Tusk' with arabesque new age synthesis alongside full
blown ambitious electro rock, as well as classic French
Fender Rhodes-driven romanticism during some of this
lesser-spotted movie's most memorable moments.
Presented here in isolation, Guy Skornik's multifarious
futurist-pop evokes worthy comparisons to Ash Ra Tempel,
Eno's Bowie and Suzanne Ciani, mapping an unlikely
journey between Magma and 10cc in the process. Don't
ignore Jodorowsky's 'elephant in the room' - you never
know what's hidden in the trunk.

This is the first time the complete score to The Conversation has been released on vinyl. The film itself was originally released in 1974 and a 7' demo of the theme was sent out as promotional material by Paramount (PAA-0305), but a USA stock edition was never issued. In Japan the same music was also issued on a 7' at about the same time (JET-2273), with a picture sleeve, but until now nothing else has ever been pressed on vinyl.

Jonny Trunk's little obsession with this music began after I'd caught the film, late night, sometime in the mid 1990s. Musically it's an exceptional example of the 'new minimalism' in film music of the period, marking a departure (for some) from big scores to smaller, more economic ensemble sounds.

The film was written, produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and is still a thrilling journey into sound, mind and murder. Heavily influenced by Antonioni's Blow-Up (and not, as some thought, by Watergate), Coppola wanted to fuse the concept of Blow-Up with 'the world of audio surveillance'. The story centres around Harry Caul (Gene Hackman), a mac-wearing professional wire-tapper and clandestine bugger who gets unusually consumed by a conversation he's been paid to record. Caul is a loner, an obsessive-compulsive character with numerous neuroses that play out brilliantly throughout the film. And as he slowly pieces together the conversation fragments and forms his own story around it, his world falls apart.

Sonically this movie - all about sound - is groundbreaking in many ways, with actual 'sound Design' Provided By The Legendary Walter Murch - The Man Who Actually Invented The Term In The First Place.

For The Music, Coppola Wisely Chose A Young David Shire, His Brother In Law. Shire's Deceptively Simple Piano Theme (composed Because Of No Budget For Big Orchestra) Is One Of Tragic Beauty, Brilliantly Capturing Caul's Loneliness, His Slightly Disturbed Nature And This Trip Into Darkness. The Melody Has Both Sweet And Sour Tones, Feeling A Little Like A Slow Ragtime, Which Both Develops And Retreats Throughout The Film; There Are Even Trips Into Avant-garde Territory With Electro-acoustic Flourishes And Concrète. The Solo, Agitated Figure Of Caul, Wearing His Distinctive Transparent Mac, Is Made All The More Raw And Poignant By The Score - The Sparse And Curiously Emotional Compositions Are Unlike Any Others I Can Think Of From The Period.

The Soundtrack For The Conversation Proved To Be A Major Break For Shire, His Career Really Taking Off From This Musical Point. His Next Score Was To Be The Underground Classic Taking Of Pelham 123, Followed Up Later Ironically By All The Presidents Men - A Thriller About The Watergate Scandal.

The Conversation Went On To Win Several Awards And Nominations, And Has Become A Classic Of The 'new Hollywood' Movement. Hopefully Now This Music May Become Part Of The Renewed Interest In Old Film Soundtracks.

In 1991 they released their Spielberg/Williams Collaboration, an attempt to encapsulate the fruits of their longtime collaboration. The first part consists of some of the best songs he composed, like the famous themes of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws and E.T. The bombast and fine orchestral cues are prominent in the way Williams' translated his music to the screenplay of Spielberg. The Boston Pops Orchestra plays an important role in the different pieces Williams created. The Spielberg/Williams Collaboration predates the bulk of Spielberg's post-1980s works. It covers 15 years (1974-89), or half of their collaborative years.

Hero (Ying xiong) is the 2002 Chinese wuxia film directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Jet Li as the protagonist. The famous Chinese classical composer and conductor Tan Dun composed the soundtrack to the movie. His mesmerizing score is based around the story of 'The heaven that unites us all'. It's an amazing and deep soundtrack, with a lot of beautiful cues. The violin play of Itzhak Perlman adds another layer to the different compositions. On from the captivating main theme the soundtrack fits perfectly with the various moods of the movie. War and love blended with the historic/ political/philosophical context. It is a journey you will never forget.

The Last Kingdom is a British historical fiction TV series based on novels called The Saxon Stories by author Bernard Cornwell (originally aired on BBC 2 & BBC America). John Lunn's music possesses a unique voice that spans a wide spectrum of musical styles. Classically trained, yet contemporary in attitude, he combines a highly intelligent and sensitive approach with a sound that always hits at the emotional heart of a piece. He is probably best known for scoring the hugely successful flagship ITV/NBC/PBS/Carnival Films drama, Downton Abbey, for which he has received two Primetime Emmy Awards, in 2012 and 2013 and a further nomination in 2014, as well as a BAFTA nomination in 2012.

Eivør often envisions the dramatic landscape of her Nordic homeland, a remote archipelago known as the Faroe Islands. 'It can be very harsh and very gentle at the same time, and when I sing I see that wildness and softness blended together.' Now based in Copenhagen, Eivør brings that stark contrast to a darkly textured yet brightly melodic sound centred on her captivating vocals. While her origins lie in Faroese folk singing, Eivør's most recent output reveals her fascination with the infinite possibilities of electronic music. Along with earning comparisons to Kate Bush in the pages of MOJO, Eivør's otherworldly ingenuity has led to her role in co-composing the soundtrack to the BBC/Netflix flagship series The Last Kingdom.
