In response to the warm reception of his most recent album, 'Melodium Rag' (released in Febuary 2017), the Ghent-based blues musician Tiny Legs Tim is delighted to annouce the release of another new album.'Live at Sint-Jacobs' - his fifth release - was recorded live during the Gent Festival and offers a broad selection from the 2,5 hour show Tim and his outstanding band performed on the main stage of Sint-Jacobs on the 16th of July 2016. An evening and recording to cherish!

The performance as headliner on the main stage of Sint-Jacobs has been the highlight of Tim's musical journey so far. Originally Tiny Legs Tim was a one-man-band, but opening for (among others) Pete Doherty, Richard Rhompson, John Mayall and Bombino, allowed him to evolve into a solid live act. 'Live at Sint-Jacobs' showcases a confident artist, who, with his band, enjoyed the magic atmosphere of that night.

The energetic concert at Sint-Jacobs follows 18 months after the release of Tim's third album 'Stepping Up'. Thanks to numerous national and international concerts preceding the live recording (like Dranouter, Blues Peer, EBC in Italy, AB, 4ad, Ribs & Blues, Eurosonic, Hoogtevrees, Sniester,...), one hears a tight-knit blues-act on the album. The many miles on the road together with Steven Troch (harmonica), drummer Frederik Van den Berghe and bassist Karel Algoed have bore fruit. 'Live At Sint-Jacobs' is full energetic and swinging music. "Tiny Legs Tim won the two hour home match at Sint-Jacobs", according to Het Nieuwsblad newspaper.

The Gent-based artist Tiny Legs Tim is one of the most important figures in the Gent Blues Scene. He is the co-organiser of the Missy Sippy Blues & Roots Festival and is one of the parties behind the bues jams and club concerts that take place in the Missy Sippy Blues & Roots Club. It's clear: Tiny Legs is a mainstay in the blues & roots circuit.

This collection brings together the finest televised appearances that the Doors made during their short but often unpredictable and chaotic career. Featuring performances on a number of shows made between 1967 and 1969, and including live-in-the-studio editions of classics such as 'The End,' 'Light My Fire,' 'Moonlight Drive,' and 'The Soft Parade' among a number of others, these little-heard versions reveal yet another side of this hugely influential and legendary collective.

Despite her last name, Anna St. Louis was born and raised in Kansas City. She grew up a painter and singing in punk bands, eventually leaving her hometown to attend art school in Philadelphia. After graduating she made the move to Los Angeles where she began teaching herself guitar, writing songs and recording them on her own in her bedroom. First Songs is the sound of someone discovering their talent in real time - a peak into the collage of a wonderful mind that is absorbing their new surroundings and using new tools to put them into the room. Listening to this collection you can feel the sun coming in through the window - Anna on the foot of the bed with a guitar on her knee, finding her voice. St. Louis wears her influences well - think Patsy Cline singing over John Fahey - but has a style all her own. And while you can take the artist out of the midwest, you can't take the midwest out of the artist - so let this be known, this is Midwestern music ran through a California filter. I believe Anna will have many more releases in her lifetime, but let it all begin here - First Songs.

Many musicians possess elements of genius, but it was the great Ray Charles who so fully embodied the term that it was bestowed upon him as a nickname. Blind since the age of six (from glaucoma), Ray Charles (Albany, Georgia, September 23, 1930 - Beverly Hills, California, June 10, 2004) combined elements of gospel, R&B and blues into a fervid, exuberant style that would come to be known as soul music.
This edition contains, for the first time on vinyl, Ray Charles' splendid 1960 live set at the Newport Jazz Festival, which was taped two years after his first appearance there (the 1958 concert issued on the Atlantic LP Ray Charles at Newport). By the time this 1960 performance took place, Charles had already left the Atlantic label, so the concert didn't originally make it onto an LP. The eclectic repertoire includes Neal Hefti's Lil' Darlin'', made famous by Count Basie on his classic 1958 Atomic Mr. Basie album. The studio versions of both Let the Good Times Roll' and Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying' were included on the 1959 album The Genius of Ray Charles, and bear arrangements by
Quincy Jones, which were played by a big band on the record and adapted to an eight-piece band for the concert.

Riding fairly high on the success of their singles, the band, whose members included Jim Capaldi, Steve Winwood, Chris Wood, and Dave Mason, released its 1967 debut LP, which also soon shot up to the number 16 slot on the UK albums chart.

Aided by their use of unusual instruments (Winwood played the organ, Wood played flute and Mason the sitar) they created a hybrid of pop / blues rock with a sound that was somewhat unique for the time and which soon made them international superstars.

The southern-style, Rhythm & Blues album Play The Blues by Buddy Guy & Junior Wells was recorded in the Miami Criteria Studios in the second half of 1970. Nevertheless, Guy was not able to leave Chicago out of this album with tracks such as "Bad Bad Whiskey" and "My Baby She Left Me".

This is probably the best recordings Guy & Wells ever made, sounding clean and smooth. An excellent blues album from two masters in blues!

This home-made and self-produced platter was issued by Roy Buchanan (guitar/vocals) after being rejected by Polydor. The six-piece backing combo are deceptively tight and likewise a perfect foil for both Buchanan's nimble fingers and acutely soulful leads. The opening cover of Don Gibson's "Sweet Dreams" alternately shimmers and sears behind the band's nimble waltz. The languid and drawn-out "Down by the River" is nothing short of a seminal example of the riveting command that formed around Buchanan's solos. Of even greater value are the originals "Since You've Been Gone" and the truncated "The Messiah Will Come Again," which is joined in progress.

Back in the '60s, when every town in America seemed to have its own burgeoning music scene, Austin was strangely quiet.

Not much at all -- save for one group that all but dominated the scene from the late '60s to the early '70s. That group was the electric, country-fried psychedelic outfit known as Shiva's Headband. Leader, violinist, guitarist, and vocalist Spencer Perskin was (and still is) the quintessential Austin hippie, who not only lobbied for city-based cultural support for local artists but also put Austin on the world-wide music map with the release of Shiva's first major-label effort, Take Me to the Mountains on Capitol (the first ever major-label release by an Austin band). The album is formidable, and its influence on the "galactic cowboy" genre was as great as, say, Love's Forever Changes was to the West Coast rock scene. It laid the groundwork for psychedelic twang and brought the world's attention to the creatively diverse (yet firmly rooted) music that was beginning to blossom back in those Texas heyday.

Harvey's merger with Tear Gas, a faltering rock band, was the smartest move of his career. With a heady mix of theatrics and driving rock, SAHB quickly made a name for themselves across England, releasing this album along the way. Harvey struts and yowls and gets raunchy (prefiguring the SAHBversion of "Delilah") while Zal Cleminson rips up the territory with some astounding guitar work. A great debut and a hell of a rock album.

Since the release of their first Jukebox Mambo compilation album in 2012, Jazzman Records, with the curatorial expertise of DJ Liam Large, have been opening ears and minds to the delights of Latin-tinged Rhythm & Blues. This, the third release in the series, sticks squarely to the tried and tested formula of its predecessors, combining a crate-digger's passion for the obscure with an ear for instant dancefloor crowd pleasers.

In a congested field of R&B comps, Jukebox Mambo stands out uniquely in shedding light on the era of Latin American and Caribbean influence, a sensual rhythmic shift which continues to be felt in modern music today.

Opener, The Emperor's 'Tough De Times (Things Getting Tough)' is a classic example of Large and Jazzman's idiosyncratic capacity to bring striking singularities to light, a beguiling and seductive blend of jazz, blues and Trinidadian calypso. Other highlights include the slinky rumba-blues of Percy Mayfield's lustful 'Loose Lips', the only known recording by female blues shouter Ethel Boswell on the track 'No More For You', and Chuz Alfred's powerful rendition of the Duke Ellington standard 'Caravan'. Elsewhere, Jukebox Mambo 3 is dominated by virtuosic performances, from the smooth tenor vocals of Roy Gaines to the polyrhythmic swing of the Monogram Caribbean Orchestra, and the Syrian-American jazz stylings of Eddie Kochak.

Lovingly compiled, artfully arranged and expertly annotated, Jukebox Mambo Volume 3 is another immersive gaze into an era of musical history that still carries a unique influence today. This one is for the crate diggers and music lovers alike!

In September, 1970 the band went into Electric Lady Studios in New York City to start recording their second album with famous engineer/producer Eddie Kramer at the helm. They were now signed with Warner Brothers, as Probe had folded, Kramer had worked with some of the top names in rock, such as Led Zeppelin and especially Jimi Hendrix, with whom Kramer had an extremely productive relationship. Going Back to Colorado was a great improvement over Zephyr being a more song-oriented and polished, while Zephyr offers more raw exposure to Tommy's guitar work.

Ellas McDaniel (aka Bo Diddley) was a true American original. He originated a rock beat that has been used by everyone from The Who, to Bruce Springsteen, to The Smiths, had a teenaged Marvin Gaye working as his valet, toured with The Clash, and was in a series of popular Nike commercials. Not to mention the fact that, oh yeah, he wrote and recorded some of the most important rock and roll music of the mid 20th-century. And that guitar, that iconic guitar, which is prominently featured on the cover of this classic 1962 LP. This is the first LP to feature his popular female rhythm guitarist sidekick, The Duchess, and while not featuring the chart-toppers of other release is a stunner of classic R&B influenced rock and roll that's essential for any Diddley fan.

This pivotal work refines the music that has come before and signals a new direction. Waits, in possibly the finest voice of his career, worked with a veteran team of gifted musicians and longt-ime co-writer/producer Kathleen Brennan. From the opening horn-fueled chug of Chicago,' to the closing barroom chorale of New Year's Eve,' Bad As Me displays the full career range of Waits' songwriting, from beautiful ballads like Last Leaf,' to the avant cinematic soundscape of Hell Broke Luce,' a battlefront dispatch.
