Revisitation of classic tunes from the legendary Howlin' Wolf best middle-period (1959-1963) material. A must-have for any blues enthusiast that stands proudly among the best of Howlin' Wolf's released material.

1966 was a busy year for the Shadows of Knight! Hot on heels of their hit '66 debut album and monster single "Gloria," they released their second long player, Back Door Men, before the year was out. It was another combustible collection of blazing blues covers and smoking originals. While there was still plenty of garage grit, they had already begun evolving stylistically. "The Behemoth" was a fine slice of raga rock while "Three for Love" jangled in a decidedly folk-rock style. Of particular note is their cover of the garage classic "Hey Joe." One of many bands to record the song that year, the Shadows of Knight version took the uptempo road and rendered a distinct rendition, albeit one with a very Byrds-ian chime.

The group's home town of Chicago was well-represented on the album through their foot stomping covers of Willie Dixon's "Spoonful" and Jimmy Reed's "Peepin' & Hidin'." The group even ventured into Top 40 territory with a cover of the Tommy Boyce & Steve Venet song "Tomorrow's Gonna Be Another Day," a track featured on The Monkees' debut LP, also released in 1966. That these seemingly disparate styles blended so cohesively was a tribute to the band's road-hewn sensibility. This was a band used to playing for intense live audiences where they received instant feedback from the dance floor. They knew what it took to move and groove a crowd and that skill transferred seamlessly in the studio

It's a common misconception that the late legend of soul, Aretha Franklin, didn't cut a good record until she got out from under her Columbia Records contract and began recording with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (aka The Swampers) for Atlantic Records. While those Atlantic sides are some of the greatest deep Southern soul ever recorded, there's a lot to love about her earlier recordings. Yes, there is much more of a pop R&B vibe to them with swinging arrangements and large horn and string sections but that unique and perfect voice is still there, here piano playing is gorgeous, and there are some serious Northern Soul burners in the bunch. The Electrifying Aretha Franklin originally released in 1962 features some of her greatest early tracks, including the Northern Soul classic "Rough Lover". A great piece of early '60s R&B from the undisputed Queen.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe is often referred to as "the godmother of rock and roll" for her pioneering guitar technique, use of distortion/reverb, and a 1963 UK tour with Muddy Waters that has been cited as a huge influence by Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Jeff Beck. Released in 1956, Gospel Train, is one of her finest albums and great introduction into her rocking gospel guitar style and powerful voice. Featuring the floor-filling album opener "Jericho" and book-ended by the stomping closer "99 1/2 Won't Do" this is a gospel album sure to get your body moving in a nearly sacrilegious way.

Fleetwood Mac will celebrate a half century of music this autumn with a new 50 song collection that is the first to explore the group's entire career, from their early days playing the blues, to their global success as one of the most-enduring and best-selling bands in rock history.

The new compilation touches on every era in the band's rich history and offers a deep dive into Fleetwood Mac's expansive catalogue by bringing together essential tracks released between 1968 and 2013. '50 YEARS—DON'T STOP' also highlights the talented musicians who have recorded under the Fleetwood Mac banner over the years, including Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer, John McVie, Danny Kirwan, Christine McVie, Bob Welch, Bob Weston, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Billy Burnette, Rick Vito, Dave Mason and Bekka Bramlett. The collection also features rare photos from the band's career along with new liner notes by veteran music writer David Wild.

The first section revisits Fleetwood Mac's early years as a blues-rock combo, a six-year period that began in 1968 with the band's self-titled debut and ended in 1974 with its ninth studio album, 'Heroes Are Hard To Find'. Many of the songs featured here were Top Ten hits in the UK, including 'Man Of The World', 'Oh Well - Pt. 1', 'The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown)' and the #1 hit 'Albatross'.

The second focuses on Fleetwood Mac's most commercially successful period with music from a trio of multi-platinum releases - 'Fleetwood Mac' (1975), 'Rumours' (1977) and 'Tusk' (1979) - plus the acclaimed concert album 'Live' (1980). Together they've sold millions of copies worldwide, with 'Rumours' alone selling more than 40 million copies. Several of the band's most beloved tracks come from these albums including 'Rhiannon', 'Say You Love Me', 'Go Your Own Way', 'Don't Stop', 'You Make Loving Fun' and the #1 single 'Dreams'.

The final part explores songs the band released between 1982 and 2013, including major US hits like 'Hold Me' (#4), 'Gypsy' (#12), 'Big Love' (#5), 'Little Lies' (#4), and 'Everywhere' (#14). Also featured are several rarities ('Paper Doll' and 'As Long As You Follow'); a live version of 'Silver Springs' from the multi-platinum concert album 'The Dance' (1997); and 'Sad Angel' from the band's most recent release 'Extended Play' (2013).

Fleetwood Mac kick off a North American tour in October that will travel through 50+ cities, ending next spring. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will feature the line-up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie along with newcomers Mike Campbell and Neil Finn.

The Congo has given us many excellent guitar players, but only one of them earned the nickname 'Dieu de la Guitare'. With this compilation, made in collaboration with Ignace Mukendi (Comité de Gestion des Oeuvres Musicales de Docteur Nico) and the children of Docteur Nico, Planet Ilunga recalls the life and musical career of guitar player and band leader Docteur Nico. Nicolas Kasanda wa Mikalayi stood for over 20 years at the forefront of Congolese rumba. Backed through his whole career by his older brother Dechaud, Nico introduced numerous innovations to Congolese rumba such as a remarkable take on Dominican merengue, the use of the Hawaiian guitar, the introduction of new rhythms and dances such as the kiri-kiri and kono, and especially the shimmering, electrified modern versions of traditional tunes from his native Kasai. Thirty-three years after his death, we remember him as the most gifted guitar soloist of Congo. This anthology consists of an original selection of 26 exquisite songs, made between 1954 and 1970 with the groups African Jazz, Rock-a-Mambo, African Jazz Aile Nico, African Fiesta and African Fiesta Sukisa, many of them reproduced for the first time and mostly taken from the original 78 rpm or 45 rpm shellac/vinyl. The album is released on September 22, 2018, a symbolic date since it will be exactly thirty-three years after the early death of Nico in Brussels (1939 -1985).
