Born out of the collaboration between Barcelona producers BeGun and Ocellot, AKKAN are one of the most exciting acts to come out of the current global electronic music scene that has been redefining dance music with the use of world grooves and organic sounds. The duo came together after a shamanic and hallucinogenic journey in Southern Africa, during which the two Catalan musicians started working on what would become their signature sound; club-oriented organic electronica characterized by jungle sounds, shimmering analog synths, tribal percussions, exotic vocals, trippy melodies and folk instruments that flow in a stimulating and highly contagious fashion.

The album, composed as a journey, was produced between the duo’s studios in the Irish countryside and Barcelona embracing the different global musical influences they encountered during their adventures. From field recordings taken from the streets of Mexico while touring, collaborations with local producers to setting up sound-systems in the foreign places they stayed during their nomadic life. The final product is as eclectic as sincere, an album born in several places around the world, inspired by different sounds. “We love African music, also the new Latin sounds coming from South America, we even take from Arabic influences and Japanese psychedelia. It’s the fusion between folklore and electronica that allows us to take the best of both worlds and to create something completely new.

Swedish nu-disco group Alcazar found their origin in 1998 and became one of Sweden’s most successful groups both nationally and internationally. Worldwide, Alcazar sold over
12 million records between 2001 and 2004. Their first single “Shine On” initiated a rocket start for the pop group, but it was their hit “CryingAt The Discoteque” that charted globally. Both singles are featured on the debut album Casino.

Berlin and London based avant-pop duo Private Agenda will release their second full-length album – A Mannequin – on Lo Recordings on 22 October via digital, limited-edition LP and music box formats.

Berlin and Reunion based duo, Amine Mesnaoui and Labelle are set to release their debut album on revered London independent imprint Lo Recordings on the 1st of April 2022.

‘African Prayers’ is a collection of seven new compositions, which includes lead single ‘Bleu Noir’, that aims to bring a contemporary and fresh interpretation to the Lila Ritual of the Moroccan Gnawa masters - also known as the Ritual of the Seven Colors.

With a firm belief they can deliver a sound that finds its anchor in heritage and yet escape folkloric clichés and stereotypes, the two musicians have strived to make something that is rich in meanings, minimal but complex, simple but deep. This is a record that is universal and invites the listener to the depth of meditation, to the dance, even to the spiritual state of trance.

Mesnaoui plays a prepared piano that is modified by different objects, which are inserted into its strings while Labelle simultaneously plays electronic instruments and further processes the piano sound. These instruments are not native to the traditional context

make things happen. To keep running even after our legs tell us to “stop!”.

The track list adventures from realms of the organic to the electronic, modern to classic, the understated to the overtly dynamic.
Brimming with an inadvertent frankness which I realised more fully after the event of recording (much of the time when I write I let
my subconscious do the talking), these songs comprise a journal, in words and melodies, of my life up to this point…

“Towers” was written at the piano back in 2013, in the moment I resolved to leave my university course behind in favour of the path
that has led me to writing this now - a song I have since been determined would end up on my first record. “Stronger Heart” at the
first sense of heart-break. “Plans” at my first sense of true partnership. “Stones”. “Big Bad Thoughts”, “Small Things” and “Spell
Hope” reactions at various points to the difficulties and destitution of my chosen career piling on top of other issues (- we all have
‘em right?), over time challenging my determination and mental stability.

After doing the soundtrack for the 2010 Scott Pilgrim video game, New York 8-bit geniuses Anamanaguchi dove headfirst into the recording of their second album. Three years (and many ideas, plans, and diversions) later, the 22-song Endless Fantasy finally saw the light of day in early 2013 on their own dream.hax label.

All the time and effort put into recording the music paid off in the end, and the album is something of an 8-bit masterpiece. The band uses hacked Nintendo systems, Game Boys, and live instruments to make (mostly) instrumental music that is blindingly bright and insanely fun.

Berlin-based, Italian-born sound artist Andrea Taeggi introduces his debut release on Hands in the Dark records with 'Nattdett', an album showcasing six mesmerizing and rhythmically intricate electronic compositions. Drawing inspiration from previous works such as 'Mama Matrix Most Mysterious' (2015), 'Batch 0006' (2017), and 'Zimní Král' (2018), Taeggi delves further into his exploration of cyclical patterns and tension-filled compositions within his creative process.

The album's tracks focus on unsettling atmospheres, unusual rhythms and percussive tones, using a vast array of rare equipment, including the analog computer from the Willem-Twee synthesis studio in the Netherlands, initially employed for flight simulation in the Cold War-era. 'Nattdett' eloquently showcases Taeggi's talent in transmuting the essence of vintage machinery into a compelling primal language, offering an immersive and mind-expanding listening journey.

Though any and all vocals on De Sidera are wordless, language is central to the album. ‘I try to make my vocalisms sound like words,’ she explains, ‘but it is a kind of invented language.
Somehow the form, the signifier, is enough to express meaning, sense, emotion.’ Burelli notes that this concept has resonance with her practice in Greek and Turkish music, in which wordless vocals and instrumental improvisations are common.
This is front and center on a song like the title track ‘De Sidera,’ where Burelli’s rising and falling vocals dance atop an undulating, contemplative bassline - close your eyes, and the clear tides of the Mediterranean lap at the sand - her wordless intonations guiding you to a tranquil state.
Burelli surrenders to the natural world and the ineffability of words - on De Sidera she shares the gem of universality she discovered while doing so.

Previously unreleased on vinyl, ‘Sex O’Clock’ was
planned for release before Anita Lane’s untimely
death earlier in 2021 as a 20th Anniversary edition
of her timeless album.
 Initially released in 2001, ‘Sex O’Clock’ was
produced by Mick Harvey and features co-writes
with various Bad Seeds, along with unique
interpretations of other songwriter’s tracks
including Gil Scott-Heron’s searing ‘Home is
Where the Hatred Is’.
 Known for being one of the most creative forces to
come out of Melbourne’s post-rock scene, Anita
came to London in 1980 with The Birthday Party.
Credited as a co-founder of Nick Cave’s Bad
Seeds, Lane exerted a strong influence over the
band and co-wrote the universally acclaimed ‘From
Her To Eternity’ and the haunting ‘Stranger Than
Kindness’, whilst also collaborating with the likes of
Barry Adamson, Einstürzende Neubauten, Die
Haut and Mick Harvey on his celebrated Serge
Gainsbourg albums.

After spending nearly a decade recording and touring with the collaborative psych rock band Quilt, Anna Fox Rochinski has completed her first solo record, Cherry. Though this is her first solo outing, Quilt released three full length records on Mexican Summer between 2011-2016 and toured North America and Europe extensively via High Road Touring and Paper and Iron Booking, respectively. Quilt completed several headlining tours in both continents, as well as opening on tour for bands such as The War On Drugs, Luna, and Woods. Anna’s songs have been licensed and used for sync placement extensively, most recently in Netflix’s “You”, and Quilt signed a publishing deal with Third Side Music in 2016. Their music was featured in many press outlets including NPR and Pitchfork, and was performed live on KEXP, Late Night with Carson Daly, and NPR’s Tiny Desk. Bumps Per Minute is a full-throttle reinvention of the traditional fairground dodgems, from Mercury Award-shortlisted composer, producer and musician Anna Meredith. The music is part of the DODGE installation, which can be experienced until 22nd August at Somerset House.

For Bumps Per Minute, Meredith has collaborated with BAFTA-winning sound artist Nick Ryan to design a bespoke tracking technology so that every thump, bump and swerve of the 18 dodgems around the track can trigger a separate composition. This results in a kind of ultimate shuffle where high octane music and ideas compete for airtime and each performance is unique. The installation will occur approximately every hour at DODGE through the day/evening.

The idea for Bumps Per Minute came about when the composer was thinking about what might be a more pandemic friendly replacement for the ice rink at Somerset House where she has her studio. The idea grew from there and now this summer DODGE is taking over the main courtyard at Somerset House, featuring a full smorgasbord of Yinka Ilori designs, DJs, food, drink and of course, dodgem rides.

Today, Meredith announces that she will be releasing a special extended cut of her material via Moshi Moshi out on the 15th July 2021. Bumps Per Minute: 18 Studies for Dodgems will feature full-length individual musical identities of all 18 dodgems – each one a bold and distinct musical track in its own right as well an intro and outro track (voiced by comedian Rob Broderick).

The key to both the dodgems themselves and the release is a user ‘driven’ triggering and shuffling of the material. Meredith encourages the listener to ‘take the driving seat’ and jump from one track to another, mirroring the real dodgem ride, shuffling and curating their own listening experience via the virtual interactive dodgems page or their preferred listening platform.

Bumps Per Minute: 18 Studies for Dodgems explodes out of the starting gate with Meredith’s uncategorisable sound and signature energy, combining fairground wildness with a healthy dose of the nostalgic electronics of old school gaming.

Mit der ersten Single »Die schönsten Wege sind aus Holz« präsentierte die deutsche Sängerin mit der unverwechselbar hauchzarten Stimme bereits einen ersten Vorgeschmack auf die Platte, eine wunderschön-verträumte Ballade.

»Kleine große Liebe« gibt es als Doppel-CD, Doppel-LP und als Fanbox mit drei CDs. Die dritte CD umfasst fünf Tracks mit »Berlin Session«-Aufnahmen. Zudem enthält die Box ein Notizbuch, zwei Bleistifte, vier verschiedene Postkarten, eine davon handsigniert, einen Kühlschrankmagneten und zwei verschiedene Sticker.

We're old and familiar friends. These compositions represent the thing that happens when we get together. They aren't representative of one individual, one moment in time, or one chain of decisions. Some are ancient refrains, beginning life as habits and warm-ups, in-jokes; others are distilled jams; more still are refined from MIDI sketches and ideas whistled into voice notes. On whatever terms these elements become something we're happy to stand in front of you and play, to put on record, so be it.” So ANTA describe the process behind 2024's Organesson. Characteristic of the Bristolian Sci-Prog quartet, the record weaves together mesmerising, muscular riffs in insanely loud compositions that extend well into excess. Less typical is the polarisation at play, where granular polymeters will yield in an instant to passages of one or two-note simplicity. The record strides from one raging refrain to the next, lurching between devastation, joy, chaos, and stirring the themes accumulated along the way in exposition. “It comes down to those precious sweaty hours” the group suggest, “in which we get to vibrate these sounds into your face and chest, and you can dance and laugh with us. This is the stuff we remember and plan for, the moments we talk about the most when writing these songs.” ANTA's live shows, ceaseless onslaughts of deafening riffs, have been notable for maintaining the same intense energy among festival crowds or to three people in a basement. Walls of amps going full-pelt. Pounding, ornate drums and metals, wherein drummer James King is relentless in discovering strange and mighty rhythms. Full-drawbar organs, electric pianos, piercing synths from keys-man Alex Bertram-Powell. Joe Garcia's growling bass that strides rather than walks. Ben Harris' all-encompassing, dizzying guitars. Hypnotic, communal, compelling, indefinite energy. Organesson is the latest effort to put this feeling on record.

These two songs were written, recorded and
mixed during the sessions for Arab Strap’s first
album in forever, ‘As Days Get Dark’.
 As much as they loved them, they couldn't find a
place for them on the final album. Maybe it’s
because they seem to have their own distinct
identities, but sometimes a song just sounds better
on its own, when it’s not part of a crowd and vying
for attention.
 So, to celebrate the anniversary of the album’s
release, Rock Action present ‘As Days Get Dark’s
two runaway loners; a couple of black sheep who
might not click with the rest of the family but, even
though they aren’t very happy, are still worth a
cuddle.

"ARCHETYPES COLLIDE demand repeated listening, mixing everything from Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon to The Chainsmokers, and Stranger Things-style retro synths, into a unique musical identity. A collection of singles and EPs drew a devoted fanbase and the attention of Oshie Bichar, bassist for Beartooth. Bichar enlisted his management, and the pair took Archetypes Collide under their wing. Soon after, SiriusXM's Octane got behind songs like ""Your Misery,"" ""Becoming What I Hate,"" and ""Above It All."" The band appeared on major festivals like Aftershock, Louder Than Life, and Welcome To Rockville, toured with genre giants The Amity Affliction, and crafted an ambitious self-titled debut album for Fearless Records. Archetypes Collide spent several weeks in the first part of 2022 making their inaugural full-length, with a super team surrounding them to execute their vision. Bichar produced alongside Nick Ingram (Dayseeker, Convictions, Hawthorne Heights) at Capital House Studio in Ohio. Additional production came from Jon Eberhard (Skillet, I Prevail, Until I Wake); The Plot In You frontman Landon Tewers lent a creative hand as well. The resulting album, mixed by Jeff Dunne (Ice Nine Kills, Wage War, Make Them Suffer), captures the vibrant spirit of the 2010s-era Warped Tour with a postmodern edge. It's a diverse but singular mission statement, brimming with authenticity and hope. ARCHETYPES COLLIDE aren't bound by preconceived notions or limitations. As single Kyle Pastor explains simply: ""Why not take every shot, in every direction, under the umbrella of hard rock and metal? "

Although Isa Fdez. Reviriego defends in one of the songs of her last album that “doing nothing” is a sublime pleasure, the truth is that Isabel herself nds it very dif cult to stay still.
It is not because she thinks there’s something wrong “doing nothing”. Introspection is, according to her vision of the world, a highly productive and ef cient activity for the individual. But Isa doesn’t just love to talk about “doing nothing” – she loves to do. In the last year, she soundtracked the Playstation video game Melbits World and a short lm for Stella McCartney. She provided singing voices for the Spanish-language version of Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, and has remixed several other artists.

In 2011, Isa discovered a melodic, kaleidoscopic, punk and unpredictable universe inside her head – one in which Brian Wilson’s melodies and Leon Tolstoi’s law-breaking nal messages – could happily dance hand in hand to electronic rhythms. She called this personal project Aries, after her zodiac sign. Her fourth and latest album, Juramento Mantarraya, released by Spanish label La Castanya and K Records, is a collection of beautiful melodies —seemingly convoluted yet simple— a combination of violins, utes, industrial sounds, and chest-rattling bass.

Across Juramento Mantarraya, Isa and co-producer Jose Vázquez creates an orchestra
– an exciting mixture of soul and free-jazz rhythms, melodies from the girl groups of the 60s, sunshine pop, spanish folk and experimental electronics. Combining samplers, synths, guitars, her precious voice and the sounds of the Galician Coast, where she creates, she speaks of friendship, love, and the beauty of error.

Isa tells us that the right to doubt is as relevant as the need to know that making mistakes and meditating are two legitimate activities – just like triumph and work. She shows that imperfection and experience make us human – and that building the path is much more important than the arrival itself. She analyzes ferocious, time-devouring capitalism and the egomaniac society, celebrates experimentation, and invites you to rethink everything you’ve ever learned.

In her 2015 book Un Rayo Ultravioleta (An Ultraviolet Ray) (Chelsea Ediciones), Isa explains: “When I make music, time stops, nothing else worries me and I am happy. During those moments, I feel true pleasure and fullness. I can concentrate for hours and get excited with an arrangement or a sound and vibrate with the harmonies. They are what Lord Byron called ‘the dazzling intervals,’” and Juramento Mantarraya is precisely that: a collection of dazzling intervals created by someone who knows that only those who are as excited taking a walk as composing melodies can reach people’s hearts.

The third album, In No Sense? Nonsense!, by the English avant-garde synth- pop band Art Of Noise is an experimental record. The instrumental power is besides the traditional band sounds (electric guitars, drums, and synthesizers) made up by orchestral and choral music. Art Of Noise created a piece where everything fits together in the sound as a whole. The perfect production is an advance to these wonderful and versatile songs. Some of the songs were included in Hollywood movies like Dragnet (which won Art of Noise a second Grammy nomination), Spies Like Us (with Paul McCartney), and Earth Girls are Easy.

Legendary UK band Asian Dub Foundation is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year!

Asian Dub Foundation are a genre unto themselves. Their unique combination of jungliest rhythms, dub bass lines and wild guitar overlaid by references to their South Asian roots via militant high-speed rap has established them as one of the best live bands in the world. The story began in the early 90’s when ADF formed from a music workshop in East London at the institution which is their spiritual home, Community Music. Their unique beginnings in a music workshop in east London shaped both their sound and their educational aspirations, setting up their own organisation ADF Education (ADFED), plus instigating campaigns on behalf of those suffering miscarriages of justice.

Building a solid live reputation in the mid-90’s, they gained worldwide recognition sharing the stage with Rage Against The Machine, the Beastie Boys, Radiohead and Primal Scream. On record, they've collaborated with Radiohead, Sinead O'Connor, Iggy Pop, Adrian Sherwood, and Chuck D. In addition to their blistering live reputation ADF were one of the first bands to experiment with live film re-scores (“Cineconcerts”), beginning with their rapturously-received re-interpretation of the French classic La Haine back in 2001.

In 30 years, Asian Dub Foundation have racked up 1000’s of unforgettable shows, 9 studio albums alongside a social and educational activism that both created the group and sustains them today. In celebration of the longevity of this unique project they are announcing an extensive European tour for 2024-25 of more than 60 shows and a special album showcasing their many iconic collaborations. “94-Now: Collaborations” will be released on September 27, 2024!

Debut collaboration between these like-minded English underground titans, perfectly mixing the long-form pop eccentricities of Grumbling Fur with the free electric sound of Astral Social Club to produce four epic and memorable tracks. The music is dense and layered, with hidden hooks, haunting vocals, unidentifiable electronic shuddering, delicate ambience, etc. Challenging but completely accessible and beautiful stuff. After a brief vocal declaration of purpose, “Back To The Egg” rides a motorik pulse ala Harmonia or Kraftwerk for ten hypnotic minutes. “Three Years Apart” pulses gently in a burbling cloud, reminding that along with crafting song gems, Grumbling Fur has collaborated with noted avant-composer / performer Charlemagne Palestine. “Ozone Antifreeze Intelligence” layers electronics over a haunting piano and vocal melody, framed by subliminal fuzz guitar. “Toejam Boxdrum” closes the album with an uproarious polyrhythm hidden by more layers of soft-focus electro-fizz, gradually giving way to thick bass riffs and tremelo’d interjections.

Nach dem Debütalbum, Feel It Break aus dem Jahr 2011, und dem von der Kritik gefeierten zweiten Album Olympia aus dem Jahr 2013 war die Band fünf Jahre lang nahezu ununterbrochen auf Tournee und Katie Stelmanis ein halbes Jahrzehnt ohne feste Adresse. Autotelia - as originally coined by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi - describes a process by which someone has a purpose in, rather than outside of themselves. Those who are autotelic depend less on external rewards for their satisfaction, being driven instead simply by purpose or curiosity. Such an ethos was the genesis of a new project put together by Tomaga's Tom Relleen and The Oscillation's Demian Castellanos. Autotelia's sound - as chronicled on their debut release for Rocket Recordings - evolved purely of its own volition, as its makers were happy to allow their own chemistry and interplay to take their distinct course. Although some observers may able to detect parallels with the blissful drift of Cluster's 'II', the glowing ampstacks of Spacemen 3's 'Dreamweapon' or the becalmed modernism of late '70s Eno in these radiant trance states, the core sound of Autotelia remains in splendid isolation, an incandescent and unearthly tapestry of echoes and vibrations channeled direct from the id and the ether, yet one that maps out a voyage sonically between vintage memories and future epiphanies."These tracks are pure escapism - zoning out and not worrying about anything" reckons Tom. BABii produces incredibly forward thinking electro tinged pop/R&B which features skittering beats and incredibly thick, layered synths with heavy bass with a semi industrial feel to them. The lyrics are dark yet the vocals are sweet. Despite its incredible pop hooks the whole LP drips with an undercurrent of darkness. BABii wowed SXSW this year playing 8 shows in 7 days and being compared to everyone from Grimes to FKA Twigs and while those comparisons give you a jumping off point they also feel lazy as BABii definitely inhabits her own unique world and Death Waltz Originals are very excited to give you your first dive into it.

Bill Fay has always sung about attempting to understand the
most universal questions: those of nature, spirituality,
humanity. His songs are “calming hymns for another chaotic
time,” he says. His influence can be traced through many
artists’ work, and so it only seemed right to celebrate this
with a collection of newer voices interpreting his timeless
tracks.
 Originally released in 2010 by David Tibet (Current 93), ‘Still
Some Light’ was released as a double CD, made up of 70’s
album demos (Disc One) and 2009 home recordings (Disc
Two). This year, for the first time, this collection of recordings
will be pressed to vinyl, presented alongside contemporary
re-imaginings of the tracks by Kevin Morby, Steve Gunn,
Julia Jacklin and Mary Lattimore.
 Bill Fay’s words and melodies remain unaffected by the
passing of time and changing trends; and here alongside the
original recordings, these reinvented versions still calmly
guide us through another moment of chaos.
 Bill Fay’s ‘Still Some Light’ was originally released on
compact disc as a two CD collection in 2010. Reimagined
with new artwork and available for the first time ever on vinyl,
Dead Oceans are pleased to present ‘Still Some Light: Part
1’, collecting Fay’s archival recordings from 1970 and 1971.
 Many of the songs are intimate sketches which were
eventually re-recorded for Fay’s self-titled debut and for his
landmark album, ‘Time of the Last Persecution’. This double
LP set includes heart wrenching versions of some of his
timeless works, such as ‘I Hear You Calling’ and ‘Pictures of
Adolf Again’ and features equally powerful songs like ‘Arnold
is a Simple Man’ and ‘Love is the Tune’, which only appear in
this collection.
