Creating an album doesn’t always start off with the thought of making one. Instead, it may begin as a form of self-expression: producing records simply to process the pure emotion that surges in challenging times like these. In the case of Maxim Lany, it’s most definitely the latter. dj poolboi is the moniker of Austin Texas' resident Adam Ansley. In 2017 Ansley started quietly releasing lo-fi house music as an artistic outlet on Youtube. Channelling his own struggles Ansley crafted a unique form of EDM – 'electronic depression music' creating emotional melodic songs mixing elation and nostalgia with melancholy.

Residing in the same vein as contemporaries Ross From Friends, DJ Boring, Mall Grab, Park Hye Jin and Dj Seinfeld while building on the experimental dance music of trailblazers such as Radiohead, Four Tet, Caribou and Jamie XX his music found its own niche and began to take flight online.

Wildly acclaimed Grammy-winning artist Flume returns with a
new album, ‘Palaces’, on Transgressive Records.

‘Palaces’ began to take shape when Flume returned to his
native Australia after struggling to write music in Los Angeles at
the beginning of the pandemic. Settling in a coastal town in the
Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Flume quickly
found the inspiration he needed through reconnecting with the
nature around him - the rolling hills, walking around barefoot,
the green colour the sky turns before a big storm, growing and
eating his own vegetables, the smell of rain.

He and his neighbour and long-time collaborator, the visual
artist Jonathan Zawada, became fascinated by the local wildlife,
in particular the birds, collecting field recordings that ultimately
worked their way in to the album. As Flume continued to forge a
strong connection to his surroundings, the album he wanted to
make started to form, eventually adopting a title to properly
highlight the luxury and magic of the natural world.

‘Palaces’ is his most confident, mature and uncompromising
work to date, a true testament to nurturing the relationships that
make us whole and bring us peace.

The album features a host of vocalists and collaborators, its
cast list spanning new and household names from around the
world - breakout US star Caroline Polachek, British polymath
icon Damon Albarn, Spain’s Vergen Maria, France’s Oklou and
fellow Australian Kučka, who returns following her standout turn
on ‘Skin’.

Motoring up to Norwich from London, it would be difficult to miss Thetford Forest, the vast wooded wilderness that follows a large section of the A11. Planted between the world wars to ensure a plentiful timber stock, today it’s a managed park attracting picnickers and hikers. But there’s another side to this wood that most day trippers would probably be unaware of…

Concretism’s Chris Sharp can often be found walking in Norfolk’s Thetford Forest as he has family over that way. It was on one such walk that he began imagining the story of a beast that roams the area. A little research soon revealed The Thetford Beast was real. Well, you know, real in a folklore way. There’s been many sightings over the years, descriptions of everything from a large cat to a seven-foot ape-like figure.

A set of tracks began to take shape, the soundtrack to an imagined children’s “Listen-Along” mystery book (note the inspired Phil Heeks artwork). The song titles follow a narrative... the beast hunters (‘The Thetford Beast Investigation Society’) hold meetings in the forest at night (‘Contact Ritual’), there’s sightings (‘Incident On The A1075’ and ‘The Figure’) and finally strange disappearances (‘The Disappearances’, which is especially chilling). The second studio album by singer JoJo, The High Road was released in 2006 by Da Family Entertainment and Blackground Records. Featuring production from heavyweight producers such as Swizz Beatz and Scott Storch, the album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. With many music critics lauding the album for its confidence and showcasing of JoJo's impressive vocal abilites, the album serves as a nautral progression for her artistry and establishes itself as a classic for fans.

The compilation opens with I Love Her, which is a previously unpublished version of the track released on 'Sizike-U Zemlji Cuda With Lost DATA Tracks' LP. Surprisingly, this version is technically better produced, with better groove and impressive sounds effects. The next is the equally groovy and even catchier, Magic Key. A beautifully vocoded sound of Roland SVC-350, intense dance beats of Roland MC-4B, hypnotically thrilling lines of SC Pro One and Korg Mono Poly synths, make this track so attractive, that it is hard to believe no one had ever heard it previously. The magic continues in next songs: Behind The Soul with its analog, dusty sounds of Roland SYSTEM 100M, TR-808 and SH-101 and Vasiona Desire, a top track of the compilation, with amazingly intense grooves of Roland TR-707, SC Drumtraks and psychedelic space melodies of the very rare RFS Kobol synth. A side closes with Tokyo, an unconventional, experimental song with inventive manually generated sounds effects of SYSTEM 100 and the remarkable Roland VP-330 Vocoder sounds.

B side rings with Italo disco atmosphere. The opening song Love To Me is a fantastic example of Jevtic and Bezek talent for composing dance-oriented songs: quality analog rhythm production in combination with memorable, sentimental themes. Such artistic mark is also evident in the next songs Daydream and Danger Lover, while Happy Together is a classic ode to the genre. The last song, Future, fascinates with its naivety and charm, while showing that dance music can carry further sensitivity besides mere fun.

Although Consequential's music relies heavily on an arsenal of vintage synths and its 80s production, it still sounds impressively fresh today. It will immediately resonate with the community of diggers, aficionados and DJs, since it is so very rare to come across an unknown music from the past, that happens to be so danceable. Fully remastered, with exceptional artwork (also executed by the artists themselves), this record stands out as an act of bravery, an incredible achievement of restoration of the forgotten 80s soundscape to which we can dance, laugh, yearn and dream.

One of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK's festival scene, the Ozrics layer ambient & ethereal landscapes with freeform dub trips, incredible rave grooves & psychedelic progressive rock.

It's an open exploration of music & the soul. The band's last release to feature Merv Pepler & Joie Hinton, who left to form Eat Static, 'Arborescence' was the Ozrics' fifth studio effort in as many years. Soundscape textures remained their focus & their strength, with the now trademark Steve Hillage- esque guitar, gurgling & whirling synths & tight rhythm section all wrapped around rave, techno, African & Middle Eastern influences.

The tracks alternate between the power driven ('Myriapod', 'Shima Koto', 'Astro Cortex'), classic Ozric Tentacles space rock ('Dance of the Loomi', 'There's a Planet Here', the title track) & those with an ethnic flavour ('Al- Saloog'). Kavinsky is a zombie who came back from the dead after his Testarossa crashed in 1986.

His first song, "Testarossa Autodrive", was an instant success, and was followed by two singles. In 2007, he was chosen by Daft Punk to open their now legendary "Alive" tour.

In 2011, his track "Nightcall", produced with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, became the theme song for the film "Drive", and consequently a worldwide success.

Kavinsky's first album, "Outrun", was released in 2013, followed by a collaboration with The Weeknd on the song "Odd Look".

In 2022, Kavinsky is back with "Reborn", his second album recorded at the famous Motorbass studio in Paris, due March 25th. "Renegade" which was recorded in collaboration with Victor Le Masne and Gaspard Augé (half of Justice) reinvents the French producer’s unique recipe: dark mood but with a thunderous groove. With a vocal assistance from Cautious Clay, « Renegade » announces one of this years’ most anticipated comebacks.

1970 was a time for heady experimentation in popular music, but very few records—and even fewer on major labels—come close to matching the stylistic ground covered by William S. Fischer’s album
Circles.
African American composer/arranger/keyboardist/saxophonist Fischer grew up woodshedding with the likes of Ray Charles, Fats Domino,
Muddy Waters, and Percy Mayfield…and then took a sudden left turn by studying electronic music in Vienna during the mid-‘60s. There, he met Joe Zawinul, and ended up penning five of the six tunes on Zawinul’s groundbreaking 1968 album The Rise and Fall of the Third Stream. Fischer went on to arrange for Herbie Mann, who signed him to his Embryo imprint for Atlantic Records; Circles was Fischer’s one and only release for the label. And he didn’t waste the opportunity; an utterly mindblowing mix of Sly Stone funk, heavy Hendrix-y metal, Southern soul, jazz fusion, and Stockhausen-esque explorations on the Moog synthesizer, Circles enlisted the same band (bassist Ron Carter, guitarists Eric Weissberg and Hugh McCracken) that Fischer had worked with while acting as Musical Director on Eugene Daniels’ underground classic Outlaw, complemented by drummer Billy Cobham and a five-piece cello section. With a line-up like that, it’s little wonder that the artistic reach of Circles is breathtaking, but it somehow manages to cohere according to its own internal, crazy logic; it remains one of the most adventuresome and collectible releases of its day. For this, its first-ever vinyl reissue, we’ve pressed 2000 copies in “black ice” vinyl, preserved the original “circle” cut-out stencil cover, and added liner notes by Peter Relic that feature quotes from Fischer himself. For the intrepid listener!

The fourth album by the singular Bastien Keb. Written, performed, recorded, engineered, produced and mixed by Keb in various bedrooms between London, Somerset and his hometown of Leamington Spa during a lonely period working a warehouse night shift job. The album’s outside contributions come from Alex Judd (violin), Claudia Kane (vocals) and Tomos Xerri (harp).

'Pungent Effulgent', the Ozric's first 'official' album in 1989, after self- releasing material on cassettes, is the first produced to label standards & retains their explorative style based on improvisations whilst performing live. One of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK's festival scene, the Ozrics layer ambient & ethereal landscapes with freeform dub trips, incredible rave grooves & psychedelic progressive rock. It's an open exploration of music & the soul.

For over 30 years, the Ozrics have experienced the vicissitudes of the rock & roll life. The band has flourished through several line- up changes, spawned several side projects, created their own record label, scored a hit record & sold over a million albums world- wide. A single that captured the hearts of Australians, emulating everything that was so special about the burgeoning electro scene of the early 2010’s, was none other than Parachute Youth’s debut single ‘Can’t Get Better Than This’. Made up of Johnny Castro (Courtidis), and Mat KVon, the single went on to be a huge international success for the newcomers, whilst earning Sweat It Out one of its first ARIA Gold Record since the labels inception just a few years prior, and charting in the Top 10 across Belgium and Luxembourg.

With the first release together in 7 years, the duo have enlisted one of the hottest dance acts on the planet, John Summit, for a special edit marking a decade since the release of the original. Formerly a musician, cinematographer and lighting designer with The Residents and a student of “Blue” Gene Tyranny, Philip Perkins issued this astounding release on his own Fun Music label in 1983.

Perkins often worked in topographical realms, crafting environment-enriching soundscapes, albeit on a micro level. Taking cues from minimalism, environmental field recordings and home-baked ceremonial mantras, King Of The World is a meditation on the lives of three ancient kings who believed themselves to be the ruler of all mankind.

The post-Hassell currents of Fourth World music unavoidably come to mind. King Of The World sits comfortably amongst the backwards-referencing style of more recent producers - but Perkins was a contemporary of the famed trumpeter and he alchemises a DIY spirit and sound art aesthetic into his own unique province of Magic Realism. Off-centre loops of African hand percussion are overlaid with a palette of water trickles, bird calls and mutant Casio synthesizer forming deceptively simple rhythmic and textural collages, always at a level just above subliminal.

Remastered in Brooklyn by Josh Bonati and with new sleeve artwork by the internationally acclaimed book designer Luke Bird.

Back in 2017, Moderat announced that they’d be taking an extended break following a final concert in front of 17.000 people in their hometown of Berlin. And now they return. MORE D4TA, the group’s fourth album, arrives more than six years after its predecessor (2016’s III). Created largely during a time when touring (and most traveling) was off the table, MORE D4TA is an album that wrestles with feelings of isolation and information overload—issues that have become particularly pronounced over the past two years. The ten songs on MORE D4TA are rooted in collaboration, but long before any of its tracks were laid down, Moderat spent months hanging out and getting musically reacquainted, indulging in extended bouts of experimentation and slowly fleshing out ideas as they dove into modular composition, field recordings and other sonic oddities.
But no matter how far the band ventures into music’s outer realms, they always wind up back in their own unique soundworld, a place where emotive pop and fluttering electronic soundscapes walk hand in hand. Many of its lyrics are rooted in Ring’s frequent trips to Berlin’s Gemäldegalerie museum (often with his infant daughter in tow), where he’d seek refuge in the great paintings of the past while worrying about the future.
What they make isn’t necessarily dance music, but it is something that shines brightest in the dark of night, the group’s rich melodies and Ring’s ethereal vocals emitting a warm, almost bioluminescent glow. in December 2020 at Middle Farm Studios and produced by Dan Weller, best
known for his long working relationship with Enter Shikari. Elles wanted this
record to feature 'gospel style vocals' so in steps Izo Fitzroy, an incredible artist in
her own right, who arranged the stunning background vocals on 'Shining In The
Half Light', and performed them alongside Jade Elliot and Andrusilla Mosley.
An exciting team of co-writers feature with three credits for Ashton Tucker & Will
Edmunds, who both wrote with Elles for 'Road I Call Home', plus she teamed up
with longtime guitarist Joe Wilkins to write the slow-flowing, philosophical 'Riding
Out The Storm'. Other kindred spirits include guitar maestro Martin Harley, for the
gentle and romantic 'Different Kind Of Love' and Matt Owens, co-founder of the
hugely successful indie- folk outfit Noah and the Whale, on the aforementioned
'Sunshine City'. The album comes to a striking conclusion with its title track, cowritten with Nashville's Craig Lackey, written over Zoom in May 2020.
