That we live in a world changed is beyond question. Das Debüt von Confidence Man, “Confident Music For Confident People”, war eine der Freuden des Jahres 2018, gespickt mit wilden Texten und schwärmerischen Electro-Pop-Melodien. Seitdem hat uns die Band mit gelegentlichen Tanzflächen-Snacks, wie der Single “First Class Bitch” geködert, die nun mit ihrem zweiten Album “Tilt” die Hauptmahlzeit servieren.

Die Australier melden sich dazu mit der Single „Holiday“ zurück, das in einer einzigen Session aus einem Mashup von Underworld und MIA heraus enstand. Angetrieben von federnden Beats, einer gesunden Portion 90er-Jahre-Dance-Pop-Einflüssen und dem verführerischen Gesang der Sängerin, stampft das Stück immer weiter nach vorne, bis zu es sich in einem Disco-Breakdown entlädt

"Flux" is the 1981 debut solo outing of Robert Turman, an American multi-instrumentalist and avant-garde composer. Until recently, Turman was perhaps best known for his contributions to the ballistic NON project with Boyd Rice, as well as other obscured U.S. industrial acts such as Z.O. Voider.

In the summer of 1981 Turman decided he would take a drastic turn from the noisy/electronic/industrial work of his compatriots, and began work on what is now the classic "Flux" cassette. "Flux" was originally self-released in extremely limited numbers. Weary of the noisescapes of old, he set out to create long-form minimalism utilizing kalimba, piano, "Mini-Pops Jr." drum machine, and tape loops to create a complex bed of interweaving micro-stasis'. The results of these new experiments were as beautiful as they were perplexing.

A curious dusty fidelity carries these classic tracks across four sides of vinyl, including all of the original "Flux" content. These compositions glow with a sprawling, slow motion haze that's light years ahead of its time. "Flux" reveals wide spectrums of sound from melancholic kalimba and percussion patterns to slowed down, syrupy Exotica. Turman had complex ideas in his mind yet only the simple technologies of the day were at hand. Hear the click of the stopping and starting Tascam 3340 open-reel tape machine as one hand presses the "record" and "play" buttons and the other plays piano phrases. While there are similarities in style to Classical Minimalism, Turman's sound and vision is his own and is exclusive to his limited discography.

For its second release of 2018, the Parisian crew Discomatin picked a real classic of the French boogie era, Palace Hôtel by Preface. If Preface recorded a total of four EPs, it's this first release from 1986 that is the real deal. Expect shiny synthesizers, percussive drum sounds, catchy and irresistible bass riffs and vocals!

Fortunately, it's brought here with all 3 versions: the extended 'Version Longue', with its great electronic introduction, the shorter 'Version 45 Tours', if you're in a hurry and, last but not least, the 'Instrumental Version' for those too shy to play the vocals - we certainly are not. Behind Preface, you'll find three great musicians still at their careers debut at that time, Manu Katche, Jean-Yves d'Angelo and Kamil Rustam. Now accomplished musicians, this project was for them an excursion into more mainstream territories through jazz-funk and boogie influences.

It had quite a success back in the day. Behind this project, you'll find Philippe Abitbol, the executive producer who was already behind 'Chacun Fait (C'Qui Lui Plait)' by Chagrin d'Amour, or French pop singer Patrick Bruel's debut 'Marre De Cette Nana Là'. Thanks to Discomatin, it's now available to the real connoisseurs with an exclusive insert which contains lyrics and chord progressions, again with the fantastic illustrations of French artist Camille de Cussac.

Voilaaa is one of the many projects led and produced by Bruno “Patchworks Hovart, who’s proven over the past 15 years, his place amongst the finest producers of groove music in all genres. This time exploring the wide spectrum of the African and Tropical Disco scene, he received a massive international support for Voilaaa’s two first album, On te l’avait dit, and Des Promesses. Following to that success and pursuing the same direction combining of the festive, yet sometime futile nature of Disco, and the instinctive, deep, sometimes rough nature of African music, Voilaaa’s now presenting a new 4 tracks EP, which will be followed later this year by a new LP.

Fatamorgana is the Universe, and Ahora Aquí, Todavía No the journey that will take you through it. Patrycja and Louis will be your guides, and with their Bass Station, RX11, JP-8000 and ethereal voices acting as a synth-pop spaceship, all the marvels and mysteries they have seen will be revealed, because they “want to fly and swim at once, forever, in another density”. The Barcelona-based duo continue to hone their brand of electronic post-punk, dishing out beats, hooks and atmospherics in generous servings, and whilst it retains much of the stark minimalism of their first LP (2019's Terra Alta), Ahora Aquí, Todavía No somehow feels deeper, more lush and considered. Clearly influenced by music from the 1980s – synth-pop, new wave, post-punk – Fatamorgana manage to create a sound that avoids standard retro manouevering, landing instead on something distinctly their own - an album made from cold sounds, that in their union become warm. A record that could just as easily soundtrack an afternoon's solitary contemplation as a night on the dancefloor.

"Art is awe, art is mystery expressed," writes Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. "Art is somatic, even if it is experienced cerebrally. It is felt." The central mysteries of Smith's ninth studio album, Let's Turn it Into Sound, have to do with perception, expression, and communication: How can we communicate when spoken language is inadequate? How do we understand what it is we're feeling? How do we translate our experience of the world into something that someone else can understand? For Smith, a self-described "feeler," the answers are inspired by compound words in non-English languages, translation, sculptural fashion, dance, butoh, wushu shaolin, and other forms of sensory and somatic experience. Just like fashion uses lines, shapes, colors, textures, and silhouettes to communicate on a sensual level separate from the conscious mind, Let's Turn it Into Sound strives to use sound to communicate what words alone cannot. "The album is a puzzle," Smith says. "It is a symbol of receiving a compound of a ton of feelings from going out into a situation, and the song titles are instructions to breaking apart the feelings and understanding them." The energized "Is it Me or is it You" comes from traversing the gaps between how you see yourself and how another might see you, through a filter of their own projections. The hushed sense of revelation that brackets "There is Something" refers to the feeling of walking into a room and being subconsciously aware of the dynamic present. All the while, Smith interprets these feelings through sound. This auditory interpretation process, driven by earnest curiosity, led Smith to record some thoughts and questions that popped up along the journey in Somatic Hearing_a booklet which accompanies the album. Over three frenzied months, recording alone in her home studio, Smith allowed herself to pursue new experiments to accompany her usual toolkit of modular, analogue, and rare synthesizers (including her signature Buchla), orchestral sounds, and the voice. She created a new vocal processing technique, and gave herself permission to pursue a pacing that felt intuitive, rather one that followed typical song structures. She walked around in the windiest season with a subwoofer backpack and an umbrella, listening to the low end of the album amidst 60mph gusts. She listened to herself, and, in doing so, to an inner community which suddenly opened to her. Underlying the album is a dynamic relationship between what Smith describes as six distinct voices, each a multifaceted storyteller. By acknowledging these characters, she was acknowledging her whole being: the woven plurality of self, the complex process of noticing and resolving inner conflicts, and the joy of finding harmony in flux. "I started to feel so embodied by all of these characters. This is all the felt, unsaid stuff my inner community wants to communicate but it doesn't have the English language as its form of communication, and so this album was a form of giving space to let it talk and not judge it and just let it play." By not adhering to expected song structures, each song feels even more like a conversation, with each character getting to express themselves in full.

'Bridging perfectly the space in between Butterfly Child's astonishing early EPs and the ravishing 'Honeymoon Suite' set, 'Onomatopoeia' is perhaps BC's most startling opus - as gnarly and grainy as it is shot through with radiant light, as interested in the turbid sonics of street life as it is in the magical transportation enacted by great song writing, as prone to wide-eyed innocence as  red-eyed reflection .  The sounds here are spacey, dazzling, sometimes bumping with A.R Kane-style beats, sometimes a beatless chiaroscuro of analogue and digital wonder - always changing, always opening up new antechambers to wander and wonder in. Contemporaneous to Disco Inferno, Bark Psychosis and other 90s UK bands keen on finding new ways to make pop matter to the listener, 'Onomatopoeia' throughout stakes out its own unique turf - Cassidy's sound and vision drawing in jazz, folk, psychedelia, industrial-noise and dreampop to craft an aperture through to other worlds, a window still stained poignantly with the detritus and drift of earthly life. Butterfly Child's critically acclaimed 'Onomatopoeia' gets there-release/ remastered treatment In the early summer of 1993, Rough Trade released Onomatopoeia, thefirst album by Belfast native Joe Cassidy's Butterfly Child. Havingfirst come to the public's attention after a wave of press resultingfrom two EP's released on dream pop legends' A.R.Kane's H.Ark! label,an incendiary first BBC John Peel Session, and a UK tour supportingThe Sundays, Cassidy recorded Onomatopoeia in a couple of weeks withthe help of longtime friend and collaborator Gary McKendry of the nowinfamous Papa Sprain.Gleefully using a shoestring budget that felt like a 1 million dollaradvance, Cassidy and McKendry bought an 8-track tape machine, a cheapdrum machine, an even cheaper reverb unit, a secondhand synthesizer,and a bunch of tea. They then proceeded into the album's recordingsessions with a classic Irish carefree attitude and confidence.As Cassidy recalled..."I always felt that no matter how little audio equipment or musicalinstruments we had back then, that it was always possible to makesomething really special, despite our limitations. In fact, havingextreme limitations often helped push us to get the most out of thesolitary synth or the one bad drum machine with silly tom sounds thatwe had at our disposal. I love that the song Our Lady Mississipp, forexample, is like the nursery school jazz version on the album, andthen by the time we did the second Peel Session six months later, Ihad Pendle on guitar, James Harris on bass, and a fantastic drummer(Richie Thomas - Dif Juz/ Moose/ The Jesus And Mary Chain, This MortalCoil), finally realizing what the adult version of that song couldsound like.'Part of Onomatopoeia's charm that still holds true almost 25 yearslater is its child-like, timeless quality—it sounds nothing likeanything of its time. This OST promises another exciting instalment in The Minions franchise. Produced by legendary Grammy-winning music producer Jack Antonoff and filled to the brim with a star-studded list of artists, the soundtrack celebrates a range of dazzling funk, disco and soul classics with brand-new versions of some of the biggest hits of the 1970s. From St. Vincent’snew take on Lipps Inc’s 1979 hit Funkytownand H.E.R.’s rendition of Sly and The Family Stone’s 1967 smash Dance to the Music, to Bleachers version of John Lennon’s 1970 track Instant Karma! and Phoebe Bridgers’ interpretation of The Carpenters’ 1972 single Goodbye To Love, every track has been reimagined by each artist with ingenious results. Set in the 1970s, Minions: The Rise of Gru tells the origin story of how Gru (Oscar nominee Steve Carell), the world’s greatest supervillain, first met his iconic Minions, forged cinema’s most despicable crew and faced off against the most unstoppable criminal force ever assemble.

Her fourth, and perhaps boldest, album project, 6abotage, marks Dillon's first full-length since 2017's Kind. Described by Dillon herself as "a love letter, a cry for help and a consequence, all in one", 6abotage is the unapologetic manifestation of Dillon's latest artistic excursion with artist and producer Alexis Troy. Together Dillon and Troy have created a lyrically and sonically captivating and genre-bending body of work. The unmistakable soreness of Dillon's voice surrounded by and embedded within Troy's decisive and, at times, almost cinematic production defeat all genre stereotypes. Written, produced and recorded in complete isolation, 6abotage reflects today's zeitgeist. It is sore and desperate but also reassuring and devoted.
6abotage is a successful protest. A successful protest against stereotypes and preconceptions. A protest against excessive suffering. A protest for self-love. A protest for patience and vulnerability. A protest for forgiveness and growth.

Leitstrahl were raised on a strict diet of electronic music. Electro pop. Italo Disco. Synth movie scores. This was the bread and butter of this three man Austrian outfit. With more than fifteen years of band history, the trio of Stoff, Paul Raal and Boogaloo Steve are as proud as punch to announce their debut album: Chromium Dioxide. For their thirteen tracks the triumvirate have pooled their enthusiasm and experience, calling on a string of friends to give their selection a unique energy and emotion. Jon Jon, aka John Foster, of Bronski Beat fame, offers his vocals for the rollercoaster ride of “Europa Supersaw.” Nicole Jaey’s mellifluous voice soars in the blazing “Chevrolée,” Christina Mirabilis lends her sweet lyrics for the fiery “Girotti” with Jimmy Baker voicing the pop heartbreak of “White Tail.” Synthlines sparkle across the collection, magical melodies pirouetting in a haze of deep Summer sun. Coursing through the entire album is passion, a passion crystallised in addictive hooks, laserdance rhythms and fledgling romance, a passion that combines Hi-NRG intensity with the reflection of wave and the optimism of italo. Inspired by the 1980s, simply inspirational today.

Ihr musikalisches Erweckungserlebnis war das Atonal Festival in Berlin, später hat sie auch viel im Berghain getanzt, und der Berghain-DJ Max Kobosil remixte ihren Song „Rigid“. Ihren enorm wandlungsreichen Gesang – der vom flehenden Hauchen bis zur kalten New-Wave-Sprechstimme reicht – unterlegt Rosa Anschütz denn auch mit einem entschlossen voranmarschierenden Four-to-the-Floor-Techno; doch finden sich unter diesem immer wieder polyrhythmische Abweichungen. Es scheppert und zittert, tiefe Bässe wühlen im Boden, während hoch droben schillernde Klangschleier wehen. Rosa Anschütz schließt an die Traditionen von Dark Wave und Postpunk an, aber furcht tiefe Kerben in deren Klangbild und romantische Glätte. „Goldener Strom“ ist ein großartiges Pop-Album, voller Melodien, Sentenzen und Beats, die sich sofort im Ohr verhaken. Zugleich ist es ein Manifest künstlerischer Souveränität – kostbar und klug in unseren Zeiten der stromlinienförmigen Kunst.

UCC Harlo and NY Graffiti team up for the second release on Peace Anthem Records. Alternating between bleary-eyed impressions and tightly articulated expression the artists forge a path laden with plangent sound, muted color, and circular forms. Ketamine-paced grooves, baroque miniatures, hazy-humid sonics, and dub inflections populate this domain. Each delivers one original and a remix of the other’s track.

Delete My Feelings is The Let Go's debut EP on Chess Club Records. The mixtape features self-produced bangers 'Woke' and 'Vegas' as well as current single 'Last Year's Model Club', which features additional production from Oscar Scheller (PinkPantheress, Arlo Parks, Ashnikko). The Let Go are Cole and Scout, 19-year-old Washington natives who relocated to the UK to attend LIPA in Liverpool. They write and produce all their own work together, with influences ranging from The 1975 and Billy Joel to Brockhampton and Dominic Fike, drawing influence from bedroom pop, hip hop, punk, indie and everything in between to create their own unique sonic landscape made for the here and now. Since releasing 'Woke', The Let Go have been featured on BBC Radio 1 as Jack Saunders’ Next Wave, and in tastemaker publications like FADER, DORK, DIY, CLASH & on NME's playlists. The duo will be heading out on tour with The Night Cafe and Daisy Brain in February, and with packed rooms at Sound City and Live at Leeds festivals under their belts already, The Let Go are poised to become one of the most exciting new acts in the UK in 2022.

Trees Speak are Daniel Martin Diaz and Damian Diaz from Tucson, Arizona and their music often draws on the cosmic nighttime magic of Arizona’s natural desert landscapes. ‘Trees Speak’ relates to the idea of future technologies storing
information and data in trees and plants - using them as hard drives - and the idea that Trees communicate collectively.
Special guests from the hyper-creative hub of the Tucson music scene on this release are Gabriel Sullivan, Ben Nisbet, Saul
Millan, Stephani Guilmette, and Davis Jones.
The album Vertigo of Flaws was recorded in Brooklyn, New York, and Tucson, Arizona during the plague of 2021.

‘As we travel through space and time, avoiding the discarded remains of the industrial period, the
deconstruction of social norms through the expression of art, music, and philosophy guide the human
experience towards the unknown.
All that remains are musical echoes scattered throughout the universe, like ancient vibrations that now
populate the cosmos. These waves now show signs of decay. Melody, beauty, tonality have all but fallen
away as dissonance blossoms. As John Cage wrote in 1937,
“Whereas, in the past, the point of disagreement has been between dissonance and consonance, it will be,
in the immediate future, between noise and so-called musical sounds. New methods will be discovered,
bearing a definite relation to Schoenberg’s twelve-tone system and present methods of writing percussion
music and any other methods which are
free from the concept of a fundamental tone”.
Similarly, George Van Tassel claimed the Integratron as capable of
rejuvenation, anti-gravity, and time travel. So, what remains of the
“people”? We have adopted from them our own Zeitgeber: their pulses
now guide our sun, our planets, our earths, and are the new circadian,
diurnal, and ultradian rhythms of the galaxy. Traumsprache, dream
speech, is now the internal language of trees.
Decaying metal and machines liberated the note unto nature’s table,
and we sip the delicious nectar of music once more irrational, elaborate,
violent, vast. The past is the future, musical disintegration its own rebirth.
We are nature, once more the computer of the Universe.’

Kavinsky is a zombie who came back from the dead after his Testarossa crashed in 1986.

His first song, "Testarossa Autodrive", was an instant success, and was followed by two singles. In 2007, he was chosen by Daft Punk to open their now legendary "Alive" tour.

In 2011, his track "Nightcall", produced with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, became the theme song for the film "Drive", and consequently a worldwide success.

Kavinsky's first album, "Outrun", was released in 2013, followed by a collaboration with The Weeknd on the song "Odd Look".

In 2022, Kavinsky is back with "Reborn", his second album recorded at the famous Motorbass studio in Paris, due March 25th. While recording it, Kavinsky had this special project to record a sequel to his hit song "Nightcall", which after all sounded almost like a movie scene. This sequel would be called "Zenith".

Italian duo Agents Of Time have been incredibly busy over the past few years, from releasing a string of classic singles – including their recent single for Afterlife, “The Mirage”, which earned more than five million views on Instagram – to remixing The Weeknd’s “Take My Breath”, which appeared on his recent Dawn FM (Alternative World). But the biggest news is here now – their second album, Universo, is ready. Elevating their trademark melodic techno with an exquisite pop-ness, Universo has found its ideal home with Kompakt, following their Music Made Paradise 2020 debut EP for the label. It’s a meeting of minds that makes perfect sense.

Andrea Di Ceglie and Luigi Tutolo, the two members of Agents Of Time, used their time during the pandemic to work on Universo, an album loosely conceptualised around their ‘personal universo’, a manifestation of the world Di Ceglie and Tutolo built both within and around their studio. This accounts for the sparkle and brightness of Universo – it’s full of personality, vim and vigour, the duo experimenting with their music, exploring its furthest corners. If you come to Universo expecting just another album of melodic techno, get ready to be pleasantly surprised – there’s a whole lot more going on here, and it’s all equally compelling.

After a typically poetic opening gesture – the swirling, synaesthetic, self-titled intro track – expectations are immediately blindsided with the two-step pop of “Fallin’”, sung with gentle clarity by guest Audrey Janssens, a dream of a song that harks back to the glory days of early ‘00s UK garage. “Interstellar Cowboy” is a confident, lithe, disco-fied strut; the gentle minor-key piano of “Liquid Fantasy” spirals into a gorgeously melancholy techno-pop epic, Vicky Who?’s voice rich with yearning. Janssens also reappears on the electro-swirl of “Poison”; “Dream Vision” revisits their single “The Mirage”, soft with sweeping strings, loaded with drama; “Part Of Life” sashays into view with a schaffel-stomp.

This rich variety throws the more dancefloor-focused tracks, like “Ciao”, into even starker relief – they’re more decisive, streamlined, yet rich with detail, chugging, Moroder-esque bass meeting strobe-lit synths that fire melodies out into the firmament. Universo feels texturally dense, but it still breathes, its sounds so tactile you want to reach out and grab them, its tunes so seductive you can’t get them out of your head. Universo is a fiercely beautiful album, brave in its spirit, a perfectly poised meeting-point of pop melody and stylish, lush techno: Agents Of Time in excelsis.
