Contrarily to the rest of Tasos Stamou’s experimental discography, the musician’s latest album “Balkan Express” has a more obscure electro-folk approach. It consists of seven pieces, all recorded with seven different vintage electric keyboards from Stamou’s own collection, blended with oriental acoustic solos. Since Stamou grew up in the Balkans in the ‘80s, he wanted to pay homage to the essence of the sound of the era that unintentionally shaped a whole culture. It was when these inexpensive, available-to-all electronic keyboards with synth sounds and drum machines replaced traditional Balkan folk music ensembles. The acoustic instruments solos and melodies of the album were influenced by local traditions and the heritage of the Ottoman music. “Balkan Express” is meant to be a time capsule taking the listener to the folk-wave retro-Balkan subculture.Tasos Stamou is an electroacoustic music composer and performer, alternative electronic instrument maker, instructor and sound technician. He explores the gap between ancient and contemporary transcendental music, using both traditional and advanced media. For 10 years, he has been performing and recording, developing a unique style of live electroacoustic composition. His long pieces are created in situ, using his “portable electroacoustic music studio”, made of acoustic and electronic instruments for sustained tonal textures and free improvised instrumental solos, creating a unique ritual atmosphere. He mainly performs and records solo, but he frequently collaborates with other artists at venues and festivals to create more innovative music. He is currently in charge of a workshop series exploring circuit bending and hardware hacking for experimental sound production

CRYSTAL are experts at their own brand of retro-futuristic synth. Discovered online by Gaspard Auge (JUSTICE) and Surkin, the world has steadily been taking note of the duo. Headed up by Ryota Miyake (aka flau roster artist Sparrows), the duo's sound may have taken different trajectories, but their experimental, energetic new wave meets techno with added video game music continues to turn heads. With Sunao Maruyama alongside Miyake, CRYSTAL have collaborated with big names throughout their career. Their GET IT EP (2013) appeared on French label Sound Pellegrino, complete with a feature spot from label head Teki Latex. On their 2015 album Crystal Station 64 the duo collaborated with Ikonika, and in 2016 CRYSTAL even jammed with the Thundercat at RBMA Montreal. The duo (Ryota Miyake and Sunao Maruyama), seamlessly mix techno, video game music, new wave and electropop for their modern, eclectic take on vintage synth music.

CRYSTAL's Reflection Overdrive is their second album in five years, arriving hot on the trail of 2020's Ecco Funk EP. While the album is a sure showcase for the duo's unique blend of '80s synth and video game soundscapes, Reflection Overdrive also marks a return to a bolder, more experimental side to CRYSTAL, making for an exciting, multi-faceted journey through time and space. Oro: Grandes Éxitos is a greatest hits compilation album by ABBA, first released in 1992, in which the songs are sung in Spanish. This album is the Spanish equivalent of their Gold: Greatest Hits album, originally released as Gracias Por La Música in early 1980. Oro was followed by ABBA Mas Oro: Mas ABBA Exitos (ABBA More Gold: More ABBA Hits) in 1994 which included further tracks in Spanish; the four songs that appeared on the South American versions of Super Trouper ('Andante, Andante' & 'Felicidad') and The Visitors ('No Hay A Quien Culpar' & 'Se Me Está Escapando'), and it also saw the debut of the previously unreleased Spanish version of 'Ring Ring', recorded in 1973 but left in the Polar archives for twenty-one years. In 1999, all 15 tracks were finally collected on one CD in the international re-issue of Oro. This reissue contains that complete tracklist, on 180g heavyweight black vinyl. (Download card included)

Andrzej Korzynski is, without a doubt, one of the most important, celebrated and influential Polish musicians of the XX century.
He wrote plenty of pop hits, created a very famous and extremely successful Franek Kimono project, collaborated with world renowned movie directors like Andrzej Wajda and Andrzej Zulawski, and played a key part in the legendary studio group Arp Life. Korzynski is also well known for his soundtrack for a cult classic for kids, "Mister Blot's Academy".

All in all, he's perceived as an extremely creative person, a real pioneer who helped introduce synthesizers to the world of domestic film and pop music. A true artist with many faces, a handful of projects, and a musician that cannot be pigeonholed. Without any doubt, he is really something.

So, with all that being said, no wonder that The Very Polish Cut-Outs' attention was drawn by the Master's work.

Without further ado, we have an honoor and pleasure to announce this release.
Four remixed tracks from the very rich artistic output of Andrzej Korzynski. All the tracks were carefully picked by the composer himself, out of a dozen proposals. It is worth adding that such a release was a personal dream of Zambon, the TVPCO's founder, especially given the fact that his very first edit was "Baby bump", a cut by the aforementioned Arp Life group.

"Niezle Numery" EP consists of four top notch edits and remixes brought to you by a well-known pack of producers closely related to the label with the famous rooster logo.
Holiday 80 guys take over the A side having expertly cut original material by Zenek Czubaty (the predecessor of the legendary Franek Kimono studio output), finishing off with two thumping peak-time heaters with infectious vocals.
On the flip you can find a more relaxed and reflexive take with a downtempo twist. Pejzaz adds his trademark sound to "Monika", a piece deeply immersed in slo-mo vibe, while Karol Aleksander's "Welwet" is a nu-disco tinged groover with a personal touch. This EP is strictly dedicated to the lovers of hidden dance floor gems and die-hard collectors of rare stuff.

The outstanding cover was designed by long-time collaborator, Bartosz Szymkiewicz.

PUMPKIN ORANGE VINYL

Fan favorite dark dance outfit Boy Harsher have contributed a sumptuously eerie track for the David Gordon Green directed finale to the iconic Halloween franchise. Sacred Bones and Nude Club (Boy Harsher's imprint) are joining forces and releasing a proper 12" maxi single containing four versions of the track "Burn it Down," to be released in tandem with the original score provided by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies. Boy Harsher said of the experience: "During an extremely brief period of rest between tours, we got this call from the music supervisor of Halloween. The director, David Gordon Green, had listened to our music and wanted to use something for the final installment in the trilogy - Halloween Ends. We flew to New York the next day to meet the team and discuss the possibilities. It was totally surreal. Obviously we're huge fans of Carpenter and the franchise is a fav, but to work with Gordon Green was also so special, his early films (George Washington, Undertow, Snow Angels) were heavy influences on our work. The real kicker is that Halloween Ends was shot in Savannah, GA - the birthplace of Boy Harsher and where we met. Unbelievable. It all felt too synchronous, and we knew we had to make something work although we were about to leave for a multi-month tour that week. We flew home to Massachusetts, dug through old demos, and found "Burn It Down". In the end it was the perfect energy for the bittersweet love affair between Allyson and Corey, so during a couple days off - we cleaned it up and made it come alive."

'To Syria, With Love', Omar Souleyman's new album released on June 2nd on Diplo's label Mad Decent. The record introduces itself as the follower of his 2015 al bum 'Bahdeni Nami', and features new 'techno' elements, thanks to arranger Hasan Alo. The first available track is 'Ya bnayya', which means 'girl' in English. Here, Omar Souleyman remembers the time where he fell in love with a beautiful brunette on first sight with a background of feasting drums.



Souleyman, who already collaborated with Björk and Four Tet, began his carreer as a wedding singer, with almost 500 live albums before the civil war bursts out in Syria in 2011. He moves in Turkey and releases in 2013 his album Wenu Wenu. In 2015, the album Bahdeni Nami gets an extraordinary amount of positive critics, of which The Guardian's just below.

The new solo offering by Jonnine (HTRK) takes its title from her mother’s maiden name – “the most haunted word I know”

The collection’s eight songs deploy an eclectic array of scavenged instruments: bass guitar, a broken Swiss metronome, an oddly tuned wooden stringed instrument, sparing use of recorder, Halloween charm bracelets and a homemade glockenspiel found at “an abandoned highschool in the hills”

Released by DJ Sundae’s Idle Press imprint, Maritz captures a versatile artist at a widening crossroads. Night flights, torn up photos, psychic spiders spinning webs like talismans – the world of these songs is imagistic and unrequited, attuned to absences and afterlifes.

The multi-media project Kraftwerk was started in Düsseldorf, Germany 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. They set up their electronic Kling Klang Studio where they conceived and produced all Kraftwerk albums.

Kraftwerk created the soundtrack for the digital age of the 21st century. AUTOBAHN 1974, RADIO-ACTIVITY 1975, TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS 1977, THE MAN-MACHINE 1978, COMPUTER WORLD 1981, TECHNO POP 1986, THE MIX 1991, TOUR DE FRANCE 2003. Their compositions, using innovative techniques, electronic sounds and synthetic voices combined with computerised rhythms, had a major musical influence on Electro, Hip Hop, Techno and Synth-Pop. 

With ‘Coexist’, The xx defied any perceived ‘difficult second album’ pressures to create a record that cemented their status as a truly global breakout act.

 On the follow up to their acclaimed, era-defining debut, the London based trio of Romy Madly Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith (aka Jamie xx) continued to deal in compelling, sparse atmospherics but expanded their musical world, especially through producer Jamie’s growing electronic sound palette.

 ‘Coexist’ surpassed expectations to become the best-selling vinyl record of 2012. Meanwhile, the band progressed from playing intimate venues to becoming an international must-see live act, curating their own festivals and collaborating with symphony orchestras.

 A final ambitious run of 25 shows at New York’s legendary Armory venue rounded off the album campaign, witnessed by fellow artists (such as Beyonce, Jay-Z and Madonna) and fans alike.

 To celebrate 10 years of ‘Coexist’, The xx release a special edition crystal clear vinyl pressing of the album.

Since the first Heavenly recording, there have been striking remixes that reframe the original track. Yasushi Ide is the Japanese street icon. In the 90's he was called "the Guru of Shibuya-kei" which was the movement of Shibuya style of eclectic pop by the artists such as Cornelius, Pizzcato Five, or Original Love who is once again recognized in City Pop revival of recent years. (Yasushi Ide was a manager of Original Love, and also Kenji Ozawa)

Through his works, he has been creating the global network of musicians such as Josh Milan of the Blaze, house music icon, Don Letts, the pioneer of connecting punk rock with reggae, and Jeff Mills, Detroit techno legend, and released a great amount of hi-quality music on his label, Grand Gallery.

The Cosmic Suite project started in 2020, during the pandemic. It started as a project to reconstruct the parts of music Jeff Mills created for Chieko Kinbara, a violinist which Mills produced. However, it turned out to be 36min of spaced themed original track = Cosmic Suite.
(There are few phrases of Jeff Mills music left in the final version) This masterpiece created a buzz in the music scene in Japan and overseas, and became Yasushi Ide's new beginning.

In June, 2022, Ide released "Cosmic Suite 2". Originally, Cosmic Suite was an instrumental. "Cosmic Suite" is the reconstruction of "Cosmic Suite 2" with the element of vocals. In this project, Don Letts, Josh Milan, DJ Krush are featured as guest musicians. Moreover, drums of Tony Allen, the legendary Afrobeat drummer, and Style Scott, a drummer known for his works in early days of ON-U label, and Gota Yashiki, a Japanese drummer known for his works with Soul II Soul are featured in this album. Also, Japanese brightest talents such as Kan Takagi of Major Force, Kaoru Inoue aka Chari Chari, Tomoyuki Tanaka aka Fantastic Plastic Machine and Calm are featured as artists and engineers. This is the true dream team of the Japanese underground music scene.

The artwork is done by Josue Thomas, the founder of popular fashion brand, Gallery Dept. He is also featured as poetry reading artist in track 1 of "Cosmic Suite 2." Ide and him collaborates in various projects under the concept of "Universal Music Connection."

His dub cover of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine (Space Dub Mix)" is selected for "Late Night Tales mixed by Don Letts" in 2021.

Highlight of "Cosmic 2" is the unique dub sound in tracks such as "Lava" feat. UA, the Japanese singer often described as "Japanese Bjork", and "Sumimasen Suite" feat. Rebel Dread (= Don Letts).

Tokyo is the melting pot of street music from all around the World such as Dub, Jazz, House, Hip Hop, Afrobeat, Punk rock, Techno,,, You can see the influence of all spectrums of rebel music in this album. This unique avant-garde music can only be created by Yasushi Ide, who has been heavily involved in this truly unique music scene for a long time.

It is in this fictional capital of the West, imagined by Michel Berger for Starmania, that the Pirouettes have decided to settle down to write their second long format: an album that wants to be more narrative, giving pride of place to storytelling, whether in the form of a love story, a true/false diary, or even... an oriental tale.

A perspective, a decentring and a will to open up which is also felt in terms of composition, since the duo has this time collaborated with several musician friends (Dodi El Sherbini, Lewis OfMan, Krampf, or Vaati). A way of renewing themselves of course, but above all of surpassing themselves, and of keeping ahead of the competition.

Attrition are pioneers in darker electronica. Formed in 1980 in Coventry, England, influenced by a mix of punk ideology and experimental art aesthetics, They emerged as part of the early '80's UK Industrial scene alongside contemporaries Coil, Test Department, Legendary Pink Dots, In The Nursery, Portion Control, and others. Founder Martin Bowes has steered the band through a 40-year career, fueled by a succession of critically acclaimed albums, selling over 100,000 to date. The band has regularly toured Europe, North and South America, Russia and Asia, appeared at major festivals and had their music included on a number of TV and film soundtracks.
The band celebrates their 40 year anniversary with their latest release, A Great Desire on Sleepers Records. The album is a compilation of some of their best tracks from 1986-2004, some never before on vinyl.

The occasional electronic duo KePESLAP is a joint project of Makina Girgir from France and ImiAFan from Slovakia. This month, their cassette "HyteParade" is being released on their own labels Falco Invernale Records and 4mg Records. It contains 5 new songs on the A side and on the B side there is a remastered edition, by today a rare 4 tracker EP of "Random Generator" remixes released back in 2010. The remixes at that time were contributed by Charles Kent, Click Click and Legowelt. It is a limited edition of 100 cassettes. Each cassette contains a unique code on the included card to get the digital edition with a bonus track.

Electronic pop music superstars Röyksopp present their extraordinary ‘Profound Mysteries’ project, released through Dog Triumph. Rich Aucoin is announcing his next album entitled Synthetic - The record is a rare Quadruple Album with its 4 seasons/LPs being staggered in 6 month intervals over the next 2 years

The album, which began at The National Music Centre in Calgary, Alberta in March 2020, houses one of the world's most extensive collections of rare and historic synthesizers. There, Aucoin was doing the Artist In Residence program and recorded 51 synthesizers to begin the project. The project was paused with the start of the pandemic and Aucoin shifted back into film scoring and worked
on the critically- acclaimed and short- listed New Yorker - Films of the Year documentary, No Ordinary Man, about the trans- masculine jazz musician Billy Tipton.This record is a good demonstration of Aucoin's scoring potential as well as it's a quadruple instrumental album; a huge contrast to United States, Aucoin's previous, and most vocal heavy album to date. Lyrics just take me so long to write that I just want to take a couple years to make other kinds of albums before going back to lyrical music as I can write instrumental music much faster. This first fulllength features Aucoin as the solo musician playing some 37 synthesizers including: Arp 2600s, the Supertramp owned Elka Rhapsody 610 String Machine, Formanta Polivoks, Novatron T550, Oxford Synthesizer Company Oscar, Selmer Clavioline CM 8 and the legendary TONTO which the first release off the record

Written against the backdrop of the Northern California wildfires, ever-growing tent cities and the continued rise of empty luxury housing in the Bay Area, the album explores the intimate experiences that transpire within the chaotic confines of modern living. Opener "Sleep" basks in the tension surrounding the album's inception with blown-out kick drums, claustrophobic verses, and deteriorating vocal effects. Sharp arpeggiated synths and woozy strings neutralize the track's subterranean anxiety with texture and sensuality. Produced by Matia Simovich (Inhalt) and with engineering credits that include Monte Vallier (Weekend) and John McEntire (Tortoise), it's a potent introduction to the muscular sound design underpinning the album. Booming taiko drums sound the beginning of "Dissolve the Floor," the album's most club-ready track. A pulsing arpeggio gives the song its industrial heartbeat while disintegrating tape delay throws menace into the hazy atmosphere. The undulating techno beat breaks and repairs itself with seductive and satisfying timing. "In Soft Confusion" doesn't stray from the album's obsidian narrative as it envisions and ponders the aftermath of human extinction. Sonically speaking, though, it's the album's most uptempo offering with Tecon's supremely infectious chorus vocal hook and Beck's dizzying guitar riffs. The intricate electronic drum programming is elevated by Ott's live drumming, which lends a refreshingly human touch to the potentially icy, and often mechanical, sonic territory of synthdriven music. Adding density to the album's shadowy allure are the unusual sounds and vintage outboard effects that Tecon and Simovich impressively maneuver into the album's tonal palette. Great care has been taken to finesse familiar pop structures with an inventive edge.
