Gianni Marchetti is one of Italy's best kept secrets...
A composer with a long and elaborate list of writing credits in both pop music and movie soundtracks.
He penned proper anthems in Italy's post-war melodic tradition. Amongst his large and varied oeuvre, in 1977-1978 he composed and recorded the original soundtrack for the skin flick 'Disposta A Tutto'
A slow-burning mix of funky clavinets, scat vocals, wah wah guitars and sultry tenor sax lines, all tied together by a distinctly Italian sensibility.

Rather than fading into obscurity, the soundtrack became a prized collector's item for DJ's and rare groove enthusiasts.
In 2019, Heristal and Danilo Braca (AKA Dany B) are very proud to present a new version of 3 tracks from the Disposta A Tutto soundtrack, edited and extended for maximum dancefloor impact.

After a short hiatus Phonica Records revives its deep-house focused Karakul imprint for Harry Wolfman's new 12" 'The Ritual'!

Having produced a dozen 12's for labels such as Dirt Crew, Omena and Outplay, Harry has been honing his craft for the best part of a decade and you can hear how his sound has refined over the past few releases, reaching new heights with this latest record for Karakul.
'SMBC' kicks the 12" off in a laid-back style with its woodwind and brass samples complimenting bright pads and drums, reminiscent of MCDE, while the mellow and sultry 'Eva' is up next.

On the flip 'Obi 1' takes things up a notch both in tempo and energy, working around a lo-fi drum loop and cunningly filtered bassline.
Strings come to the fore halfway through making this a real uplifting gem, the mixture of instrumentation bringing to mind early Pepe Bradock.
Finally 'The Ritual' rounds out the record in a mesmerising way, slowly introducing more and more elements and stirring the pot before fading out again.
An original and fitting way to end the record.

The ever-charming UK based pop power trio – Patawawa released their funky indie dance jam on Kraak & Smaak's label Boogie Angst'. Stepping up on remix duties is Hot Toddy, a name synonymous with quality in the UK disco, house and dance scenes. One of the founding members of Crazy P, both his work with that project and his releases under his solo moniker have never been short of excellent. There is no denying his pedigree in the genre and has once again assembled two absolute fire-starting reworks.

Maintaining the catchiness and instant glittery likability of the original, his mixes instead focus firmly on the club dancefloor with the 'Hot Toddy Disco Dub' clocking in at eight minutes and boasting more grooves than your local car-tyre dealership. It's still a bass led fiesta with disco vibes aplenty for your dancing pleasure. And for those that like their mixes a bit deeper fear not! There's the self-explanatory - 'Hot Toddy Deeper Dub' which is everything you'd want and more all neatly packaged in a dub mix.

Scottish producer Alex returns to Playmaker Media Records after his previous album ‘X’ was released through the label last year. After a few releases through New Retro Wave he’s becoming a house hold name in the alternative synth scene with his unique mix of dark synth and cyber pop".

Dark Entries Editions reissue series continues with a double A-side of the first two Helen maxi singles, 'Witch' and 'Zanzibar', as a 4-song EP. Helen was an Italo disco studio project that consisted of various producers, songwriters, and vocalists from Italy in the 1980s. The first line-up included popular Italo producers Piero Cairo and Massimo Noe, known for their work with Joe Yellow, Den Harrow, Pink Project, and Dharma to name a few. They were joined by prolific Italo session vocalist Elena Ferretti. 'Witch' was originally released in 1983 on Out Records, a label distributed by Discomagic Records. Signature Linndrum and Simmons drums create the driving rhythm track while Elena's powerful vocals tell the haunted tale of a witch and her magic. In 1985 the second incarnation of Helen recorded the song 'Zanzibar'. The vocal version was written by Ennio Ronchelli (Keyboards) and Roberto Barocelli (Guitar, Bass), with singer Daniela Paratici. This line-up was heavily influenced by the 'Afro' movement made popular by DJ Beppe Loda. 'Afro' refers to the Cosmic musical trend of slower disco records featuring African drums and rhythms. The 'Afro Mix' of 'Zanzibar' was produced by DJ Daniele Losi and Roberto Lodola, with additional live hand drums and sticks by Nigerian percussionist George Aghedo. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl is housed in the original jacket from the ''Witch'' maxi single, featuring artwork by Elena Feretti. Come Go with Me is an album cut that was never releases on a 12” and is another example of album songs that were a favorite at the Claussell family’s home growing up. This is destined to be another Unofficial Edits & Overdubs Classic.

Originally released in 1983 on independent label For Sale (sub-label of the highly influential Baby Records, home of some of the most striking italo-disco ever), this album is quite a different monster. Produced, composed and arranged by Maestro Gian Piero Reverberi (once part of the progressive cult heroes Le Orme and then the man behind the ‘classical gone disco’ project Rondò Veneziano) Presage lives in a ‘twilight-zone’ where new-wave, post-prog and disco weirdness collides. Some of these numbers could have been easily played at the Hacienda in Manchester or even used as a soundtrack for some mid-eighties Argento movie. Part of the musicians used to be involved in the prog band from Genova Struttura & Forma, while others spent time behind the desk with some minor disco stars. All in all quite an unusual heavy rare-groove collection.

Summer is coming sooner this year, and you can tell from the heat of the two latest releases from Slow Motion: yes ladies and gents, Italian Dance Wave Compilations are back! The first of the two, “Italian Dance Wave Disco Sette”, is here to delight you: starting from a half Italo and half Asian influenced Altieri track, killing it with a dancefloor belter that will make you sweat the night away, raving sensations guaranteed. Lukebox (Fabrizio Mammarella and Umberto Saba from the duo Loudtone) will serve you a slightly more downtempo, modular, weirdo beast that will make your head bang without you even notice: banger. Back on your turntables, is also Robotalco who is providing some proto-house extravaganza and adding some charme to the dirty, chunky beats of the compilation. Last but not least, José Manuel, delivering a touch of biting deep house and electro tribal feels to close the gap, and make us scream “hell yes”.

Izo FitzRoy has gone from strength to strength. Her gospel and soul drenched compositions coupled with a powerhouse vocal delivery and an ear for a melody made her an instant favourite with fans, critics and contemporaries alike.

After a tireless touring schedule and some killer feature collaborations she's back with some new original material and she's enlisted the help of the one and only disco don – Dimitri From Paris...

Dimitri of course needs no introduction to the Disco and House heads and the king of Glitterbox comes correct off the back of recent projects remixing the Chic catalogue and running his own 'Le-Edits' label. He teams up once again with his dream house band - fellow high-flying Parisian jazz/funk crew Cotonete who provide the 'magic' backdrop for Izo's stellar vocal performance.

The track sees Izo wishing for a change in her relationship, longing for yesterday and the feelings of excitement and wonder that a child gets to experience so frequently. Between her towering vocal performances, Cotonete's classy groove work and Dimitri's deft studio touches it's the perfect disco storm.

Introducing this first look at The Vision; a Bristol Boston collab with a locker of funk ready to go. Dusted up from endless years digging this pair of record enthusiast’s productions are full of the flavours of original disco and soul. This debut outing sees the pair dive deep into their record collections and add their unique stamp on personal house & R’n’B classics.

Prelude Records is easily one of THE most influential Disco labels of all time. The label released classic upon classic and launched the careers of many now influential artists and producers and engineers. Names like Francois K, Shep Pettibone, Tony Humphries and more were all intrinsic to the Prelude story. The music this label released throughout it's life has shaped modern day club culture and continues to do so....

1977 saw the release of one of Prelude's most sought after, desired and rare offerings. A 12" promo that features 2 insanely deep cuts from the labels impressive repertoire. Bill Brandon & Lorraine Johnson's split DJ promo '‎We Fell In Love While Dancing / The More I Get, The More I Want' - 2 megaton Disco bombs that will have your dancefloor in a frenzy. This essential release has changed hands for hundreds of pounds on the used market and has never been legally reissued before, there are sub-standard boots around and they sound awful. This official reissue has the full unedited versions of the tracks and has been repressed from the master sources and with the full involvement of the licensors to provide 2019's clubs with a true Disco rarity, as it was way back in '77!

"The Sound Of New York" in many of it's forms and shapes, has always been a source of fascination for the London based production duo Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel (Aka Los Charly's Orchestra), who clearly portray its essence in such an authentic fashion through every release they make; all filtered through
their very distinctive colorful / feel good style of productions, which have become a trademark of the LCO sound over the years.

On the other hand, the so called: "Acid Jazz / Jazz Funk" movement from London-UK had always been a defining key factor on the LCO philosophy, who until today remain so true to the nature of their fusion.

Joining restless soul brotha' & Jazz-Funk luminary: Mr Xantone Blacq on the vocals, this release could be perceived as a crossroad between the two timeless sounds.

'Boomerang' was first recorded in 1979, when the Broomfield Corporate Jam leader was attempting to plot a solo career. It was the first cut Aaron Broomfield recorded under his own name - Initially, at the family band's home studio, Kilimanjaro, and later at professional studios in L.A and Miami - but it was never released.

'I always wanted to be able to share 'Boomerang' with my fans some day - I didn't release it back then because I thought the time wasn't right,' Broomfield explains. 'It was so different to what was considered commercial then and felt ahead of its time.'

Before deciding against releasing it, Broomfield had two test pressings made. It was the accidental discovery of the
one remaining record by digger Arun Brown (the other perished when Broomfield's Kilimanjaro studio was damaged by a fire in 1996) that set in motion the chain of events that finally led to its release.

The jacket boasts a written essay by Broomfield himself, telling the remarkable story behind the song. The wax
features the two versions of Boomerang, of which both were meticulously restored and re-mastered by celebrated
Australian sound engineer, Dan Elleson.

Head to side A for the 'test press' version, a cosmic, starry-eyed chunk of elastic Miami disco-funk where the
Broomfield family's killer instrumentation - all rubbery bass, deep space synths and crunchy Clavinet motifs - arcs
around the sound space like a boomerang in flight. The vocal arrangement, in which Aaron Broomfield's conscious
lyrics come through loud and clear, brings it home. On the flipside, you'll hear how dynamic the band was through the

'Demo Version' - a relaxed, loose and spacey groover that sounds as ahead of its time in 2018 as it would have when it was recorded in 1979.

Full Intention's Michael Gray returns with his re-work of one of best Italo Soul anthems from the 80's, being Advance's 'Take Me To The Top'! Originally released on the Italian 'X-Energy' label in 1982, this one was in fact the record that built the X-Energy label. Released in cooperation with Michael's new outfit 'Sultra', High Fashion brings you the Michael Gray 'Sultra' remix together with his very playable 'Michael Gray Dub' on the flip side. A must have for all Disco lovers.

The new Outplay release is by young and upcoming dj/producer Cleanfield, or 'Jelle' as his mom calls him.
Hailing from Arnhem, the Netherlands, it's always great to see another talent pop up in the Dutch scene!
He has made three super catchy tracks for us, perfect for the summer season!

First up is the title track 'Haute Cuisine', warm bouncy bass topped with a super infectious lead melody and percussion. If there is a track more suited for the festival season it's this one for sure!
'Hot Wheels' races on with a deep rolling groove, fuelled by wah wah rhythm guitars, warm synth chords and arpeggios.
'Conflict With Clayton' brings another solid groove to the table with scattered vocal samples and multiple synth layers. Scorcher!

So imagine dancing your ass off to this EP in the sun and feeling fantastic, we sure are!

Two killer disco soul tracks from Judy Pollak and the Detroit trio 33 1/3 get official licensed re-edits from the chicago duo Al-tone. Fyi: Judy's album was just re-released on Athens of the north but these edits are exclusive to this 7".

Bybo Funk's interstellar and futuristic sound returns in the form of a brand new LP entitled "Black Eye Galaxy".

About a year ago, I had dinner with a special group of friends obsessed with food like me, we call it the Yum Yum Club. Max Pask is a member and while we were preparing a decadent meal, he played me that Evans Pyramid song « Never Gonna Leave You » that I didn't know of. It blew me away and I immediately tried to integrate it in my DJ mixes. But that proved to be a challenge as the beautiful song is very lo-fi in its production with very quiet beats. OK for a very end of a night, but I wanted to play it more than that, so we decided to make an edit with Max that quickly turned into something closer to a remix. Here it is now. There's a house mix for the pumping hours and a disco mix that is closer to the original. Very glad to introduce you to the amazing music of Evans Pyramid (if you never heard of him), a forgotten genius from Boston, the missing link between Shuggie Otis and Prince.

Kip Carmen and Danny Horton are seasoned men of music. In the early 70s, Kip was signed to Memphis’ legendary HI Records. He also had releases on independent labels, including Queen Bee, Reveille & AFE (with Danny), plus an LP in 1979 on Long Islands Sounds.
In August 1982 at Normandy Sound Studios, Rhode Island, the cream of New York and Boston session musicians assembled to record songs for an album release. Due to a prolonged recession in the music business and the onset of CDs, the recordings were shelved.
IZIPHO SOUL have captured two masterpieces: TECIHILA, which in Native American means ’I Love You’ in a powerful and spiritual way. It’s a post disco jam with sensuous lyrics - one of those songs where you can ‘picture the scene’. The B Side - THOUGHTS OF LOVING YOU - continues the alluring theme at a slower tempo.
Some releases require more complex licensing work, bravery and belief. I am personally thrilled for Kip and Danny that these unique pieces of music have been rescued, restored and released on vinyl.

Produced by Ronald Foster of Ecstasy Passion & Pain fame, Lou blends his sonorous baritone over a guitar, bass, piano and drum backing. We hope you enjoy their rawness and beauty!

Five years after his track 'Mr. Croissant Taker' appeared on Soulwax's Grand Theft Auto V radio station, Belgian producer Transistorcake releases his official debut release, the 'Future Plans' EP on Eskimo Recordings. Featuring 4 tracks of hazy electronica that would sit neatly alongside early releases on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label or recent excursions by the likes of Palmbomen and Betonkust.

Opening tracks 'Future Plan I' and 'Future Plan II' sets out Transistorcake's stall nicely. Swirling synth melodies, an ever evolving bassline that leads you down a labyrinthine maze and diaphanous strings and pads all add up to create an ecstatic yet at the same time melancholic quality to the music that manages to sound both ancient and modern.

"Future Plans I and II are constantly changing routes of ideas, improvisations and coincidences," explains Transistorcake, "nothing is a constant in the two numbers, outside the pulse of the drums. You can see them as two possible versions of the future or as an old version of the future alongside its current variation."

Whilst cut from the same cloth as the previous tracks 'Ribbles' has more than a touch of the Nordics to it. Sparkling, playful melodies glitter like snowflakes caught in the flash of a strobe light before a pulsing disco beat rockets the track into the stratosphere. In his own words the track is "an ode to spontaneity and dancing without braking. I pictured it being played by a live band next to a pool at an LA cocktail party in the '80s."

Closing the EP we have 'Kluts', driven by a stuttering, head-nodding, rhythm that recalls that rapping sound of a woodpecker in the forest, the track is gently swaddled in a warm embrace of synthetic stings that gradually develops and asserts its dominance over the course of nine, all-too brief as it happens, minutes. For all its gauzy textures there's also an undeniable solidity to these tracks, an underlying organic quality and nostalgic warmth that permeates them.

Having previously studied jazz composition and played in several bands over the years, Transistorcake brings a sense of spontaneity to the often all-to-structured world of electronic music. This EP just capturing a snapshot in time of these songs that can be endlessly reworked and reimagined in his live set, where live bass and drums, are added to his collection of vintage synths to an endless back and forth between man and machine.

A7 Edits is back with its second instalment from JD Twitch (Optimo). Following in the fashion of the first record by Stefano Ritteri, Volume 2 offers two edits alongside their sought after original counterparts from Africa Seven favourites’ M’Bamina and Tala AM.

The A-side sees JD Twitch take on M’Bamina’s 1982 ‘Kilowi-Kilowi’, from the group’s third album ‘Reflexion’. Twitch takes this already dance-friendly number and stretches it out, producing a a laidback disco groover with added effects for good measure. A delightful organ line pops us near the beginning, reappearing throughout the edit, often taking turns for centre stage with the vocals or the horns, whilst the funky bass keeps the pace and style throughout. Following Twitch’s version is the original which starts with a rather trippy, meow infused intro before slipping into the type of groove that M’Bamina became known for.

On the B-Side we have Tala AM first up re-edited in classic Optimo eclecticism. ‘Arabica’ was the lead track on Tala André Marie’s 1978 album on Fiesta records. JD Twitch goes large with his version, amping up the already powerful original into overdrive with heavy drums, plenty of reverb and some trippy Frankie-goes to Hollywood-esque effects glittering over the top. It’s not what you expect, but exactly what you wouldn’t expect from a man like Twitch, and definitely works on the floor. The B-side closes with the original version, more disco but all the same power behind it.

With their latest 'International Disco Mafia 2' release getting love from the likes of Marc Grusane and Jacques Renault, these Dublin based modern discotheque messers are on a roll.

Their latest sees Yorkshire based machine squelcher Perseus Traxx coming heavy on the A side with 'Pump It', which grinds a crashing jack track in and out of some choice disco snippets to create a relentless floorburner for 2019.

Sir Leon Greg is another of the Traxx-man's many pseudonyms, and 'Shakey' is an acid house tinged makeover of an old Northern Soul classic he made a few years back.
Fatty Fatty head honcho Pablo supplies his 'Warehouse Mix'Â of the track, which strings it out into a wild 10 minute trip that teases and caresses you before the strings and that chorus send you over the edge completely.

Last but not least, 'Last Days' will be, to some ears, the pick of the bunch - a rich, ever circling slice of funked up house music that will touch you in all the right spots, rounding off the package in some style.

The Pretenders 'Just Be Yourself' remixed from the original Multitrack 2" tapes. World class DJ Kon has been busy doing groundbreaking re-works and remixes of Chic, Michael Jackson, George Benson, T.S. Monk, Donna Summer, Chaka Khan, Gil Scott Heron, Willie Bobo, Pleasure + many others.

His 3-Volume Off Track "BBE" compilations with Amir of previously unknown Disco, Funk, Boogie & Jazz tracks have gone on to influence tastemakers Dimitri From Paris, Gilles Peterson, Joey Negro, Mayer Hawthorne and a new generation of artists like Anderson Paak and Floating Points.

This remix of a legendary and highly in demand Modern Soul track on Carnival Records keeps in step with the original recording while breaking ground into new sonic territory. The sound is rich and full due to Analog mixing by Kamal Humphrey through Maurice Starr's SSL Board. ... simply a future classic.
