Dark Entries Editions is proud to reissue Ghost Town' the 1984 debut 12' single by Mono Band from Italy. The project was conceived by producer Rene 'D'Herin and Massimo Fantinatiti aka Fantenax. They teamed up with songwriter and guitarist Luigi Venegoni aka Svengile who had previously worked with progressive and jazz-rock bands Arti & Mestieri and Venegoni & Co. as well as cosmic disco group Stratosferic Band. Treading the lines between Italo Disco and the darker side of New Wave, the trio crafted a mysterious sound. Melancholic arpeggiators, a throbbing baseline, stuttering samples, and the classic Linn drum machine run throughout the track. Vocals were handled by an uncredited Carlo Rossi who raps about a ghost town filled with fear. When female vocalist Elena Sansonetti begins to softly whisper the chorus one might get goose bumps. The trio were joined in the studio by DJ Mike aka Michele Paolino of Make Up/Mike Up, DJ Moody, Fabrice Bellini of Art Fine and producer Miceli. The song was recorded in a few days at Dynamo Sound Studio in Turin and originally released on the popular Discomagic Records. This reissue includes the original vocal version, backed with a longer dubbed out instrumental Ghost Version' on the B-side. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The 12' is housed in an exact replica of the original sleeve with an astrological photo the planets orbiting the sun. Each copy also includes a 2-sided postcard.

(EN)Rainbow Disco Club (RDC)'s regular artist sauce81 provided us with two unreleased tracks. sauce81 mercifully said "I would like to help RDC which was cancelled due to COVID-19." Beyond Space And Time was launched end of last year with DJ Nobu's 2LP compilation as festival's another musical imprint. The 7 inch record, "I Wanna Show You EP" will be the next release from the label. "Love Is The Harmony ft. Ben Hadwen" is on the B side. The track was played at the end of his set at RDC streaming event "somewhere under the rainbow!", energetic house/disco track made us all dancing through the screen.

After a first year of activity with 3 beautiful single reissues, SOL DISCOS presents its first album, with the compilation Message In Our Music, selected by WAXIST. Focusing on Modern-Soul genre, the selection ranges from 1976 to 1983 and gathers a nice selection of independent and private press records, all officially licensed.

From the David Nathan's downtempo previously unreleased version of "Ain't Nothing Like The Love", to the beautiful Glen Missick's gospel dancer "Message In Our Music", the album aims at providing to the listener a glimpse of the wide spectrum of productions that exist in this musical genre.

Some of these beauties are officially reissued on vinyl for the very first time, including some highly sought after records such as "Deep Inside Of You" by The Harden Brothers, "My Dream" by Harvell Guiton, or "Love With Me" by Don Scott.

ebut full length LP from Japan's favorite underground native son. A fixture in the Japanese beat scene & known by those in-the-know for years now, PEPIN lands his spaceship in Chicago courtesy of STAR CREATURE for his debut, modern funk meets space boogie anchored by Japanese King, SAUCE81.

The Black Pearl is very proud to present a real 80´s futuristic proto club banger from the STRÖER Brothers, with lots of clubby remixes by buddies & friends. The original track "Night Falls" was only released on a very limited hand-spread promo 12inch, which was especially pressed for the Kunstdisko art-project for the 24th Olympic games in 1988 in Seoul / South-Korea. Together with the Goethe Institut they created the "Kunstdisco" project for germany, which was located at the Yoido Ankara Square and took part for the german Seoul Olympic Art Festival. The Ströer Brothers, who were responsible for the video & music sector, invided and encouraged 25 young german composers and producers (among of them was the young DJ West Bam) to produce new music for the Kunstdisco between Rap and new electronic club music from the end of the 80´s. The Ströer Brothers, together with Howard Fine & Nadeen Holloway, were presented  through many DJ´s who played their music that they espacially created for this event. Next to the in-house project Mudegg, the single audio tracks of "Night Falls" were givin to musical buddies like First Touch, Enzo Elia, DJ Rocca, Siggatunes and Manelet to remix them and Black Pearl is more than proud to present a great variety of remixes, styles and visons on the original track.

A true dance-floor bomb, 'Over & over' is just one of THOSE records, originally written by the legendary team of Ashford & Simpson it's inevitable that this jam oozes class. Kon has lovingly freaked the original master tapes into 2 brand new, fresh versions that will undoubtedly find their way into any self-respecting disco freaks DJ set. On side A we have his 'Found a friend remix', a beautifully reimagined and restructured version that leaves lots of space and let's those wonderful strings really soar, finally crescendoing in total disco glory! It's no wonder that the mighty DJ Harvey has been closing his sets with this one. Pure class. On side B we are treated to an amazingly bold 'Dub mix', in keeping with the traditions of the classic labels, West End, Prelude, Fantasy and Co, it's sparse, melodic and contains just enough juice to keep the people dancing and asking for more! The limited numbered box-set King Of The World (40th Anniversary Remastered Ultimate Edition) will feature 2LP, 2CD and a 1DVD, the remastered album in vinyl and CD with many bonus tracks. “When I was asked to put my hands on the original tracks of Blancmange I was instantly excited. They were one of my favourite Bands when I grew up as a teenager in the 80’s. Listening to their music walking around with my Walkman back then was adventurous. Mainly because I was already in love with the aesthetics of synthesisers and drum machines. But also because it was unusual pop music with an extraordinary energy that made it in the charts. Remixing a favorite Band is challenging but I’ve tried to keep the free spirits and playfulness in my mix that makes Blancmange still so special after all these years” – Roman Flügel

Roman Flügel remixes the cult 1980s classic that is ‘Living On The Ceiling’, and the result is a killer, off-kilter slice of club-focussed machine funk that contains the same wonderfully bizarre cocktail of traits, that Blancmange always boasted in spades. THE JUST BROTHERS were Jimmy and Frank Bryant and are best known for their throw-away instrumental 'Sliced Tomatoes' that first graced the scene at Blackpool Mecca. 'Carlena' is a different beast altogether, a powerful slice of gritty up-tempo soul propelled by various members of Motown's Funk Brothers. A collector's item that was first picked up by Wigan Casino DJ Richard Searling on a visit to Soul Bowl circa 1976-7, a trip that also produced the first copy of The Honey Bees' 'Let's Get Back Together', both on the Garrison label, reputedly part-owned by Mike Terry, and both incredibly rare, approaching a combined $5,000 in today's market!
THE HONEY BEES were an in demand, for-hire, backing vocal group working the New York circuit in the mid-Sixties and can be heard, in fine voice, supporting Jack Montgomery (real name Marvin Jones) on his superb Barracuda 45 'Don't Turn Your Back on Me'. Here they deliver their own, much deserved, recording, co-written by Don Mancha and Wigan's adopted son, the late, great Edwin Starr.

Ancient rites of witchcraft and wisdom are the theme for Red Laser's 2nd release of 2020, with chief sound sorcerer Kid Machine consulting the eight schools of magic to create a spellbound opus of Manctalo mystery.

Across the 8 defined classes: Divination, Abjuration, Enchantment, Necromancy, Illusion, Conjuration, Evocation & Transmutation; Kid Machine renders these archaic energies into reactive musical matter. Much like mages and hierophants have kept centuries-old traditions and processes; the studio wizardry of Kid Machine reflects the various epochs of electronic music preceding it: the wistful yearning of vintage Italo coalescing with the charged energy of Northern English dance music and crafted via a meticulously sourced array of esoteric sound tools.

Side A's 'Magico', schooled in Divination, opens the LP.
A rugged rhythmic synth line nicely tweaked and with tasty clavs it's further expanded with glassy keys and a vocal refrain reminding us of its future-predicting powers.
'Make Me Feel Alright', protecting us with Abjuration, employs both squelchy and staccato synthesizer functions to construct its impenetrable gilded fortress. Banishing its foes to far-away lands with classico leads and a chord progression steeped in Italian nostalgia.
Snappy freestyle beats, galloping arps and searing melodies enchant 'S.D.M', an alchemical hybrid of electro-disco and pulsating EBM that would surely convince plenty, previous, non-compliers to frequent the poppers-drenched dark rooms of Europe's nocturnal underbelly.

Meanwhile, channelling dark necromancy, 'You're Love' closes off disc one with some of the most authentic, Italo-inspired keyboard interchanges and spirit-raising sequences available on the album.
Next come the winds & tides of Illusion and Conjuration. 'NGAFFS's' anthemic licks emanate off the wax. Broken down to 'not giving a flying fuck', it's Kid Machine's most spine-tinglingly epic track to date; uniting all under its Tesla-like harnessing of zero-point energy. Add coital thrust and you find us physically trying to grab the holographic, multi-dimensional synth fractals from the air in front of us upon first listen!

'Muszic' continues with another grandiose Manctalo coup de grace, full of sentiment and yearning.

Inviting Evocation through smokes & strobes, 'Modera' sees amyl nitrates recklessly thrown into the cauldron, tantalizing arpeggios stroking our most erogenous zones with abandon.

It's a fitting homage as galloping analogue sequences march over sensual strings and moody chord progressions; evoking that irreplaceable feeling of being surrounded by your favourite homo sapiens in one of the most hedonistic locations on planet Earth.

Don’t let the title mislead you, “Much Too Much” by Sass has just the right amount of everything, whether you’re talking about the vocal or the instrumental. And that’s as true now as it was when it was originally released back in 1982.

In 1981 The Jack Sass Band, as they were known, were still working the NYC club circuit. Along with the likes of Change, The BB & Q Band and High Fashion, they were part of the Little Macho Music phenomenon and that’s how they ended up in an 8 track studio on 7th Avenue near 20th Street, where Little Macho recorded demos.

Produced by the band’s vocalist Mic Murphy, who also wrote the track along with fellow band member LaForrest Cope, the band needed just one session to capture “Much Too Much”. The recording studio just so happened to be run by Silvio Tancredi and when the tracks were finished he offered to put them out on his 25 West record label. The vocal version and an instrumental mix were released as a 12" the following year. Mic tells us this meant Sass “were one of the few bands to have a record release while still playing on the club circuit. So the reaction exceeded our expectations at the time”.

According to Mic “Much Too Much” was something a little different from the band’s live sound at the time, “it was more R&B smoothed out than the more funk rock we usually leaned into”. Indeed, the track glides with grace, poise and patience. The elegant, easy tempo, combined with the magnificent melody and Mic’s signature sublime vocal conjures magic. The blend of deep boogie-funk power and heavenly sweetness is both infectious and goosebump-inducing.

Over on the flip-side, the instrumental slaps harder. Without Mic’s vocal it’s just pure groove, with nothing to stop you vibing all night - the bassline, the drums and the melody still connect. Hard. Pick your side, you won’t lose.

Working directly with Mic Murphy means that the audio for this re-issue of the classic 12" comes from the original tapes. Cut at 45 RPM and released in a plain sleeve, we’ve made sure this record is well up to the job of having a permanent place in every DJ’s bag. As far as we’re concerned, this is essential stuff.

Mic told us just how much it means to him to have “Much To Much” re-issued: “It’s an amazing feeling to have something you created almost 40 years ago still have relevance and even more amazing to be considered among the Northern Soul boogie anthems. And it’s especially important to me that we’re available again on vinyl”.

'90% of Me Is You' is widely known and loved, oft sampled and searched for high and low by soul aficionados and music lovers across the globe.

Vanessa Kendrick's take is a breathier, sweeter affair. A ridiculously rare 45 to obtain and boasting a $500+ price tag too. Recorded a year before Gwen McCrae's and arguably the original version, hence it's top billing spot on the A-side. Obviously, Gwen McCrae's version is more widely known, and it is astoundingly good. Her sultry and yearning vocals complementing the lush arrangement and tough backbeat drums in a different way. Obviously both versions bring something to the table in their own respective ways, with our 2 fabulous vocalists channelling different feelings and different moods, but they are both simply amazing and worthy of a place in any self-respecting music lovers stash. Flawless.

'Are You Ready for Me' by The First Choice is definitely a masterpiece of disco classic. This song has been sampled many times in several house tracks from the 90's, but never reworked in a proper way. Moplen is now giving what it was missing, a 8:09 mins remix from the original multitrack that gives to the song a
new arrangement keepin' it with the original vibe.
In recent years Moplen has been building a reputation for solid disco remixes. A vinyl junkie, DJ and remixer from Italy, he currently has remixes out with re-edit heavyweight labels like Gamm, BBE, Lumberjacks in Hell and Kat to name just a few. Moplen remixes now have a definitive trademark thanks to an obsessive attention to detail, and a rigorous adhesion to the parts from the original multitrack. His work meets the requirements of modern dance floors whilst never betraying the spirit of the original recording.

The unexpected death of Prince in 2016 shocked the musical world, not only because he died at such an early age, but mostly, because we have lost one of the greatest music talents of the last 50 years. The Many Faces Of Prince is a heartfelt tribute to his work, and shows some lesser known facets of his career, like his beginnings as part of the funk group 94 East. You will also find his songs in versions performed by pop stars like Chaka Khan, Gary Numan, Dead Or Alive and Sheila E. Daje Funk’s quick-fire 5th release keeps their homegrown Italian theme going as it pairs Padova’s Paul Older with Rome born and now Sardinian based producer and Viaggio label boss Musta.

Seamlessly moving up from 7” to 10” on this EP presumably so they can cram even more groove in it’s a dynamite and exciting pairing.




Continuing with the club focussed funk style of previous releases Paul Olders ‘Sax Francisco’ screams 1970’s like it’s been perfectly transported from a film soundtrack where the police are chasing suspects through a crumbling industrial complex at the start of the show.
A bubbling bassline and that eponymous sax do the damage here. Freeform sax changes into looped up notes powering the breakdowns then into sublime jazz funk all the while perfectly re-imagined for 2020. It’s full of energy and verve aplenty.




Over on the flip Musta’s ‘Groovin’ It’ is packed with an altogether deeper funk. It’s a record in a hurry, one which wants to head straight to the dancefloor for a lo-fi funk-off. Big bass and spaced out vocals run things perfectly before a distant trumpet pushes the track onwards. ‘Groovin’ It’ is a real combination of styles. Dominating is electric Funk which is combined with Blues refrains, Jazz licks and some added African overtones just for good measure. They all come together for an energy packed club track which will undoubtedly pick up heavy DJ support.

After much anticipation, our Belgian disco diamonds Rheinzand present their debut full-length album. On their self-titled record, The Belgian trio wraps the human heart in synthetic threads of modular electronic disco. 9 songs writhing on timeless dancefloors, morphing in and out of shapes of luxuriant melody and vivid instrumentation.

The album is full of classic disco and electro sounds, wielded with imposing prowess by multi-instrumentalist Reinhard Vanbergen. It’s both an exploration ofdance music’s electronic genealogy and the vintage cool that has defined its different eras. Still, an organic atmosphere pervades as the blend of real instrumentation fixes a sort of retro-futurism, imagining an alternative timeline that’s a bit more exciting, more sensuous and libidinal, maybe more human, too, than our current outlook.

We start the engines with Break of Dawn, a compelling beat rises from the basement and soon we’re submerged by the pulsing bassline. Dark sunglasses on, we cruise through the night, letting flashing city lights flow into unbroken torrents of color. Blind awakens us, a splash of handclaps in the face, vivid strings and Charlotte’s trademark slick vocals enter the stage. Tantalizing sunbeams power up circuits of electronic synths blipping and beeping away.

Later down the road, we hit the Latin part of town. Porque fits enchanting vocal spells in beautiful Spanish on playful flamenco rhythms. Fourteen Again is a throwback to early electro, playing around with knobs and buttons. An oscillating synth imagines new worlds of plastic emotion. Still disco and still very cool, though. A constant velocity is sustained throughout the album bythis recurring locomotive synth, trudging away beneath the action. Once in a while, we hear the deep, mighty, trembling voice of Mr. Rheinzand speaking to us in incantations. Someone’s pulling the strings here.

On Slippery People, the trio cover the Talking Heads classic in a characteristic procedure of bouncy funk. We’re swirled around by the delirious glasswork of You Don’t Know Me into the hypnagogic funk noir of Strange World. Drifting through the house of mirrors after the fourth mojito.

Obey collects all these threads in a full-bodied future classic disco anthem, before Queen of The Dawn wraps up the show with a sky-bound epic of operatic choirs and ceremonious drums that lands somewhere between Kate Bush’s Aerial and Peter Gabriel’s most bombastic.

The independent UK label Six Nine Records Ltd, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, proudly presents SLAY and his first release on the label.
Chuck Slay comes from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has been creating music in one way or another since early childhood. Chuck's mother has been an active gospel musician for over 60 years and is still playing the piano and organ at the local church, so he's always had music nearby. He has been developing lots of local acts and eventually teamed up with longtime friend and producer Anthony Larkin to start Icehouse Productions.
