Limited reissue of this hugely influential and ultra-rare record, originally released in 1983 on miniscule Italian label Recordbreaker (KKK was its only release). A slow and hauntingly beautiful track with strange electro-sounding bubbling synths and compulsive dark electronic bassline, this is an example of the absolute best in italo-disco and is a must for the serious collector or just anyone who loves great music.

Limited vinyl reissue of the amazing 'Rock Africa' album from 1977 by Malinga Five, a short-lived group made up of French, Caribbean and African artists. Released in France by Barclay, this hard-to-find afro-funk LP spawned a number of disco hits including an exhilarating uptempo version of Black Blood's 'Marie-Terese', plus the unstoppable bubbling funk magnificence of 'Kalimbo' later remixed by Bob Sinclar and the superb 'Kaloule Woman', a beautiful joyous track laced with intricate guitars and percussion with a great soulful vocal. Standouts aside, the whole album is fantastic from start to finish including hi-octane percussion workout 'Tambouye', laid-back funk groover 'Good Time' and blissful sensuous ballads such as 'Song For My Lady', the elegant jazz-funk of 'Vin Eve Nou', afro bubblers such as 'Kou Ma Ho' and Mankchine DouDou' and the synth-heavy 'Malinga'.

Breaking through with The Sunflowers in Nigeria's late-sixties soul explosion, Mona moved to the US after the group's equipment was destroyed in a car accident. There she was active in the new jazz scene, before returning home towards the end of the seventies, and forming The Sensationals with guitarist Jimi Lee Adams. An unsung pioneer, Mona was Nigeria's first female pop bandleader.

Fifth in the series: all remastered at Abbey Road, cut at D&M, pressed at Pallas; and presented with a 24" by 12" full-colour poster.

Sources is a brand new series which will examine the output of a number of extremely influential independent U.S. labels hroughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. In an age where corporate anonymity reigns supreme and music is being treated like aural
wallpaper, the Sources series will go back to a time when record labels really meant something via their A&R policies, their ground-breaking releases, their everyday modus-operandi and
their general philosophies. What made these operations unique How did they manage to compete with the major companies How did they protect their artist rosters What sort of people ran these operations and how did they manage to survive in the cut-throat music business Bill Brewster, co-founder of the influential DJ History website and forum and author of the
acclaimed Last Night A D.J. Saved My Life' will be compiling and writing the sleeve notes for the series. The first six releases will concentrate on 6 New York independent labels which have each been massively influential in the evolvement of Dance Music over the last 30+ years - Easy Street, Fresh, Sleeping Bag, Sam, Streetwise and P&P. Each 3 x CD package will be full of lovingly re-mastered original 12' mixes as selected by Bill. These will include many tracks which have never made it to CD before and you can be sure that a variety of 'secret weapons' will emerge from each of these packages! The fourth package in the Sources series covers one of the most loved New York independent record labels ever, the iconic Sam Records. Formed by industry veteran Sam Weiss in 1975, the label launched with a the killer atmospheric funk anthem Woman Of The Ghetto' by Doris Duke before heading into Disco territory with several hugely successful albums from John Davis & The Monster Orchestra before hitting big internationally with a brace of Disco smashes from Gary's Gang including their most successful single Keep On Dancing'. By the beginning of the 1980s Sam managed to deftly circumnavigate the Disco backlash and re-invent themselves as a bona-fide 80s Dance label immediately
scoring with Rhyze's Just How Sweet Is Your Love', Convertion's Let's Do It', Scandal's Just Let Me Dance', K.I.D.'s Don't Stop' and Mike & Brenda Sutton's We'll Make It' among others. This proved to be a fortuitous direction and by the end of 1982 Sam had scored high-profile successes with Vicky 'D''s This Beat Is Mine', Komiko's Feel Alright', The Evasion's Wikka Wrap', K.I.D.'s Hupendi Muziki Wangu! (You Don't Like My Music)' and the sumptuous Dreaming' by Greg Henderson. Sam's impressive dance hit tally continued into 1983 with further successes like Steve Shelto's pumping Don't Give Your Love Away' and Klassique's Somebody's Loving You' before the label wound down for much of the next decade. Over the ensuing 30+ years Sam's 70s and 80s releases have seldom been off DJs turntables whether via the Disco, Rare- Groove and Electro scenes or by the almost relentless re-edits that appear of Sam's main output throughout this period. 'Sources: The Sam
Records Anthology' continues the run of comprehensive anthologies of the most important labels in the evolution of Dance music.

Quality reissue of the highly sought-after promo 12' of the legendary Idris Muhammed's incredible 1977 disco classic 'Could Heaven Ever Be Like This' - eight and a half mesmerising minutes of hypnotic slow-building disco-funk huge on the early NYC disco scene which became an anthem at Mancuso's Loft parties and is still in high demand today. On the flip, 'Tasty Cakes' is a nice lighthearted disco bubbler but the clear go-to track on this side is the awesome hot funk groove of 'Turn This Mutha Out' as sampled by to great effect by Moodymann for his 'Amerika' KDJ release. Essential!

In Elsewhere, the second fulllength album by Moullinex, you get a window into the past's soul, funk, garage rock, Brazilian music - especially when it comes to percussion and utes, which have an increasingly important role in its universe - these sounds come together and meet synths bursting with nostalgia for the future, all coexisting in perfect harmony and in such a way that never lets you forget for a second that the music is all coming from the same person. Not to mention, of course, the penchant for dance music and the focus on giving machines a human touch. What changes now is the way it distinguishes itself from Disco and House, which Moullinex has been linked with throughout the years - though it's still present -, either in his own singles, DJ sets or remixes for artists such as Sébastien Tellier, Röyksopp & Robyn, Cut Copy or Two Door Cinema Club. This said, it would be a gross inaccuracy to tag him solely as Disco: his sound is much more juicy than that, squeeze it and a lot more will come out.

Django Django's debut album came out in January 2012 on Because Music and was lavished with praise. It was 'updated psychedelia that beguiles and delights' (The Guardian), 'consistently mind-melting and often brilliant' (Q), 'bursting with ideas' (Pitchfork) and 'gloriously, unpredictably new' (Mojo). By December it had been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and named one of the albums of the year by Rolling Stone and NME. They became known from their electric live performances full of energy, and went on to play memorable shows at festivals across the globe including as Glastonbury and Fuji Rock. Born Under Saturn is the work of a band fired up by confidence and experience and propelled way beyond their DIY roots. It has all of the imagination of their debut self-titled album but splashed across a larger canvas. 'Once we got into the studio it became obvious it would be a bigger-sounding record,' says bassist Jim Dixon. Recorded at Netil House in east London and Angelic Studios in Banbury, Born Under Saturn saw the song writing split four ways with Dave also producing the record. Lyrics often emerged naturally from the sound of the music. There are dark dramas like Found You, which draws on the myth of Faust's deal with the devil, and Shot Down, a bloody tale of crime and betrayal. Jim wrote the sighingly beautiful Beginning to Fade while contemplating writer's block and the atmospheric, synth-driven High Moon, says Dave, is about people who 'come alive at night". Born Under Saturn expands on the slippery, indefinable brilliance of the debut, finding magic in the unexplored spaces between different kinds of music, and never doing the same thing twice.

Limited 12' on the tiny Don Pedro's label from Nigerian disco supremo Bobby I.G featuring two of his best and most sought-after tracks on one slab of loud-pressed vinyl. Originally out on the impossible-to-find 'Bomp' album in 1980 (I.G.'s one and only release sadly), these cuts are top-class examples of early Nigerian boogie, both heavy ass-shaking floorfillers boasting some phenomenal funky guitar work and ultra-groovy bass. First up is the awesome collectors' favourite 'Disco Power' while on the flip we have the equally desirable funk monster 'Funk Ina Ghetto'. Totally brilliant - don't miss!

Reissue of the original Swedish Moon Shine records 12' release of the superb and hugely in-demand slo-mo disco monster 'Stars And Bars'. Originally released back 1981 and now changing hands for big money, this low slung gem is a must-have for any lovers of quality leftfield disco vibes with its phat b-line, great vocals, killer funky synths and a wicked chugging groove sure to ignite any dancefloor/beach party. A big favourite of DJs like Harvey, Rug & Tug & Mark Seven. Superb!
