Even though he didn't invent the concept, Bucharest born and Amsterdam residing, Andrei Idu, or more familiarly, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra has done a good deal of remixes in the previous couple of years. This record showcases his best remixes and dubs. Apart from "Lesson 1 Remix", all tracks are exclusive to this vinyl release.
Starting off the record is the infectious dance-floor filler remix of Odyssey's "Inside Out". The remix was done for the 2011 DJ History Odyssey remix competition. Having received enormous feedback and support, it was about time it saw an official release! The track builds the feel-good instrumental to a vocal chorus driven hands-in-the-air climax. It has been a sure shot secret weapon of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's DJ sets until now. The second track on the A-side is The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's most successful remix to date. His version of L'Equipe du Son's "Lesson 1" is a warm synth driven piece of the highest quality 80's inspired disco. The percussion and strings fill the track with sentiment. It's been witnessed to melt girls on the dance-floor and make grown men shed tears.
The B-side of the record is reserved for the deeper dubs. First off is an unreleased version of Emeron & Fox's "Dopecity". The Legendary 1979 Orchestra takes the original as inspiration and goes deep with it. "Dopecity Deep Dub" is a journey into emotions and euphoria that would fit wonderfully in those late morning deep house sets. Finishing off the record is a Bonus Beats version of Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club's "Marwencol". The original and the first TL79O remix of the track were released in early 2011 on the infamous Russian label Shanti. It was actually The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's first official release. The version on the record strips down the remix going even more dub and keeps the ultra-punchy drums in the forefront for some guaranteed head-nodding business.
With each track touching on a different side of underground dance music, this record is a complete guide to the many styles and tastes of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's compositions. It wouldn't be hard to imagine hearing all four tracks at different times of a perfect club night.

All killer no filler on the new Legendary Sound Research release! We've got a split double A-side EP from The Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club and head researcher of the label, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra.
SPDSC's 'Nightdriving' sounds like the soundtrack to an early 80s exploitation movie featuring crazy driving stunts! JKriv, of Deep & Disco fame, flips the track into a mid tempo piano driven stomper adding even more action to the scenes.
On the flip side, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's 'Love Triangle Theme' is the actual soundtrack to the opening scene of the short horror film 'Matasari'. The track is moody and tensed but somehow liberating with its groovyness. Taking care of remix duties is analog veteran Ruf Dug. His take is reverby, atmospheric, sounding straight off a lost proto house tape.

Debut EP from one of house's best kept secrets: Kask!
Don't let the newcomer status leave you doubting, Kask's sound is timeless: the entire EP is a soulful blend of stomping beats and synth manipulations! Thick bass lines and jazz chords hover over beats without being shy of experimentation!
We're sure you'll be "keeping up with" Kask after this release!

Debut single off Daft Punk's #1 album, Random Access Memories. Musically, ''Get Lucky'' is a disco and funk song while lyrically, according to Pharrell Williams, the song is about the fortune of finding chemistry with someone and not just about sexual chemistry. The single has topped numerous charts around the world.

With The Ladies Of Too Slow To Disco' we are taking a look at the women who kick-started the female pop revolution in the seventies. But we are not only presenting the big names like Carole King, Carly Simon or Rickie Lee Jones, Too Slow To Disco is once again unearthing lots of overlooked and lost gems of the 1970s LA music scene.
As ever with Too Slow To Disco, we hope we're moving the needle, reinstating a few unjustly overlooked talents. But above all this is about the music, that vaulting ambition that pours out of these arrangements, lyrics and melodies, all played by the finest musicians the LA scene could muster. So take a trip with us, and round out your picture of a decade. The style is still Too Slow To Disco. But the inspiration and the achievement is all woman.
About Too Slow To Disco These much-loved compilations are the brainchild of Berlin crate-digger DJ Supermarkt the musical luminary who brought J-POP to discerning Western ears back in the late 1990s with his Bungalow Records label and who has been a champion for the re-appraisal of smooth music for decades. Too Slow to Disco Volumes 1 and 2 were both rightly acclaimed as Best Compilation of the Year by Rough Trade records and this sideproject brings together another kick-ass roster of lost pop gems.

Hot new release from Sunkissed Recordings celebrating Italian synth pop hero Mike Francis aka Francesco Puccioni. Back in the 80s, Francis' elegant electronic style and smooth rich vocals provided a perfect backdrop to nights dancing on the sand and in clubs throughout the Mediterranean and his popularity continues today amongst the Balearic cognoscenti. This EP features the fantastic in-demand Club Mix of 'Features of Love', a funky pop-soul opus washed with lush synths, lazy guitars and dreamy vocals plus the sought-after long 12' cut of 'Survivor', a gorgeous slice of blue-eyed soul with a strong dancefloor sensibility. Flip over for big Cosmic play, the magnificent 12' version of 'Body Thrill', a bass-heavy chunky instrumental with an Art Of Noise feel followed by Francis's beautiful laid-back cover of the Bill Withers' classic 'Lovely Day' and lastly the heavenly hypnotic 'On and On', a little-known gem from the B-side from a rare 12'. A great package!

It's quality all the way with this superb new 12' featuring four incredible tracks from Balearic legends Elkin & Nelson. These talented Columbian brothers moved to Spain in the 70s where they fused funk, soul and Afro influences with their native Latin rhythms to create dancefloor gold. Refreshingly avoiding their well known and recently reissued anthem 'Jibaro', this EP instead unearths more obscure but equally brilliant gems previously unavailable on 12'. Side A features the floor-filling Latin brilliance that is 'Abran Paso - Ahoa' followed by the awesome 'A Caballo'. Then on the flip we get the sublimely beautiful yet enticingly groovy full 9 minute verson of 'Vamonos', an Ibiza classic favoured in 80s by the Island's original Balearic DJs like Alfredo and Pippi. Finally rounding things off is in style is the duo's definitive take on the Bill Withers' classic 'Ain't No Sunshine'.
Proper old school Ibiza - Viva España!

Originally released in 1994, Kylie Minogue represents the fun 90s pop acts had in absorbing an increasingly diverse range of influences - from house and ambient to Balearic and R&B. Beloved by perfect pop fans, this is Kylie's most sought-after record, finding a decent copy on vinyl will set you back well over £150.
Signposting another left turn in Be With's 'baffling roster' (Pitchfork), we proudly present this album's first ever vinyl reissue as a deluxe special edition, limited to just 500 copies. Righting the wrongs of its initial release, the album now stretches out over two pieces of 180gram vinyl and is presented in a sumptuous gatefold jacket, allowing the iconic Rankin portraits of an empowered, self-aware pop star room to breathe.
After phenomenal chart success in the late 80s and early 90s with the PWL hit factory, Kylie desired greater artistic freedom and critical credibility. Her move to dance music label deConstruction, and its commendable hands-off attitude, marked this profound shift In thinking and enabled the singer to make the album she really wanted. Indeed, Kylie Minogue is a sophisticated collection of stylish songs that elegantly reference new jack swing, R&B ballads, ambient pop and piano house.
String-drenched epic "Confide In Me" (produced by acclaimed dance duo Brothers in Rhythm) confidently sets the tone whilst "Surrender", a seductive sunset slow jam, unwittingly anticipates the voguish Balearic pop of the past decade. Jazzy pop-R&B groovers keep things moving but it's the masterful "Put Yourself In My Place" - in all its understated melancholy - that stops listeners in their tracks. Widely regarded as her finest downtempo moment, the monster single recalled late 80s American R&B but, having never received a proper vinyl release, its inclusion here is worth the price of admission alone.
Further orchestral ballads, subtly cinematic pieces and minor key house tracks (with the involvement of the Pet Shop Boys and acid house stalwarts Farley & Heller) serve to complete an assured collage of accessible yet resolutely eclectic 'perfect pop'.

In 2016, the new Breakbot version 'one plus one' (Breakbot + Irfane) will release a second album, Still Waters, a new assortment of southern sunrays, with swinging images of dancefloors filled with guys in flowing trousers and bare-shouldered young girls. For this occasion, Breakbot and Irfane followed a well-oiled formula. They each cook-up outlines of rhythms and melodies that the two boys then modify, complete and prolong to reach a final draft. For Still Waters, which also contains 13 tracks, Breakbot have nonetheless tried out a few new moves: unlike the previous album, this one is more of a matrix with intricate workmanship, carved out with the help of old analogue machines rather than softwares. Some of these tracks were also happy accidents from improvisation sessions, ricochets of voices and chords born of old-school jamming sessions. Thirteen bouncy acts with Stevie Wonder and the Motown crowd in the background, spouts of funk and disco on a well-trodden dancefloor. Crafty ideas whipped-up in a vintage outfit with techno vibes and futuristic accelerations creating a perfectly current soundtrack. Tomorrow's retro. With Still Waters, Breakbot introduces its new head along with a new uniform. With the help of art director Philippe Jarrigeon, the guy wearing short shorts and knee-high socks has become a character in a cocktail coloured costume, like a Florida prince. Image on music.

Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart is clearly a name to remember when it comes to modern groove music! Bassist and guitarist in various band, he started production in the mid- 90s and continues today to combine modern technology with the raw and genuine spirit of the golden age of Disco, Funk, Soul, or Jazz.Following the success of his many projects such as Uptown Funk Empire, The Dynamics, Metropolitan Jazz Affair, or more recently Patchworks Galactic Project, he proved album after album, a true gift of musical ubiquity, renewing in all genres and always anxious
to borrow unexpected ways. Back on Favorite Recordings label for this new solo album as Mr President, he finally
provides us with a sequel to Number One (2011), first album with whom he was welcomed and praised by international media and tastemaker (NOVA, Okayplayer, Gilles Peterson,
JAZZ FM, Laurent Garnier,...). Faithful to his love for Disco and Funk from the 70s and 80s, Hips Shaking however differs
from its predecessor by digging more into Pop music, but also by a more elaborate production, with real horn and strings sections invited around Patchworks. However still key to everything and polyvalent, he not only composes the whole album and plays a good part of the instruments, but this time also devotes to singing! From Roy Ayers to MFSB , through Vince Montana and Patrick Adams, or Michael McDonald and Ned Doheny, this Hips Shaking proudly look at the sound and production of the pioneer heroes, while infusing with Disco, Pop, Electronic and Fusion influences, which have made the Patchworks' touch: an authentic sound with a modern approach to music!

Great new reissue featuring three of the Stones' funkiest and most collectable tracks. Originally released as limited promo 12' versions on the band's own Rolling Stones Records label and now incredibly hard-to-find, these superb tracks showcase the rock gods' highly successful foray into the world of funk and disco. First up is 1976's 'Hot Stuff' which marked the start of The Stones' disco sound exploration - driven by a stupendously funky bassline accompanied by a heavy drum pattern, Mick Jagger breathes 'Hot Stuff! Can't get enough!' - we certainly can't! Next up is 'Dance', the ultra-rare instrumental version of 'If I Was A Dancer' which only ever appeared on the 1981 promo 12'. With brass stabs, DJ-friendly breaks, tweaky animal noises and lolloping basslines, this is seriously killer. On the flip, we have the band's first ever dance remix, the spectacular eight minute extended version of 'Miss You', a hypnotic disco burner with mesmerising harmonica, compulsive guitar, beautifully smooth electric piano and of course Jagger's signature falsetto 'oohs'. A must have for Stones fans and disco junkies alike!

Wonderful remastered reissue of Nancy Martin's 'Can't Believe', a deep Italo/proto house cut from back in 1982 recorded by Canadian producer Domenic Sciullo. Featuring an awesome phat analogue Italo-style bassline, great sexy vocals and an irresistible chugging groove that gets the floor bouncing, it became an anthem in the underground clubs of Chicago, championed by the likes of Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy. Released here on the original Neige Records label which features the full length long version of this killer and also the highly useful instrumental version. Essential!

Superb 12' reissue featuring three of Trinidadian soul legend Billy Ocean's greatest dancefloor tracks from the early 80s. Side A features the six and half minute Special Disco Version of 'Stay The Night' - a bass-heavy grooving funk monster with punchy horns and Billy's smooth vocals over the top. Flip over for big Frankie Knuckles play 'Nights (Feel Like Getting Down)', a pedigree jazz-funk cut often considered one of his finest. And last but not least is the long 12" version of the massive disco classic and Studio 54 staple 'Are You Ready'. With every track a guaranteed floorfiller, don't miss this chance to own them all on one loud-pressed 12".

Premium quality vinyl reissue of the highly collectible promo-only 12' 'I, I, I' by unlikely Balearic heroes The Osmonds. First released in 1979, this
fruitful collaboration between the proto-boyband and legendary pop-disco producer Maurice Gibb is a wonderful slab of chugging syncopated cosmic disco rock topped off with lush string arrangements which despite being criminally overlooked at the time of its original release, has recently garnered much favour with Balearic aficionados. Also surprisingly good is the flipside's 'You're Mine', a more 'live' sounding affair, coming across like Steely Dan met Chicago at Studio 54 and hit the studio on the way home. Don't miss!

If you were to cut Neville Watson he would bleed acid house, he'd also quite likely knock you flat on your arse for having the temerity to wave a knife at him, but that's a whole other story. For his first WU contribution he ventures down the ethereal proto-house boulevard. Jacking 707 patterns, a bouncing Juno bassline and outer-space synth lines take you into the upper atmosphere for a glorious airborne joyride. As ever, Neville manages to evoke those 85-89 feelings without ever sounding merely retro or like some kind of pastiche, something that many attempt but very few manage to pull off.

Messalina Records return with a fantastic EP of eclectic dancefloor bubblers from fellow We Love Space residents Jamie 'Fatneck' Low and Lucci Capri (aka DJ Callum). First up is the eagerly awaited vinyl release of Fatneck's incredible acid rework of Michael Jackson's classic 'Billie Jean', highly in-demand since receiving heavy rotation from Greg Wilson (the only DJ lucky enough to have a copy) who nicely sums the track up..."I love the way Fatneck has put a somewhat psychotic twist on 'Billie Jean' via his acid interpretation - inspired West Yorkshire Wacko madness!" Next up Lucci Capri delivers the quirky Balearic chugger 'Dame Un Beso', with super-sweet Latino lyrics and a great Reggae-influenced swing. Flip over for the beautifully understated 'Because Today I Saw U' which melds a cool deep house groove with Esther Phillips' yearning vocals. Rounding off the EP in style is Fatneck's superb dancefloor-friendly edit of the Aretha Franklin version 'What A Fool Believes'. Great stuff - welcome back Messalina!

First official reissue ever! Nigeria had an utterly strong popular music scene in the 1970s, Afro Beat' and Afro Funk' were the hottest musical creations of the day and garage rock oriented bands like OFEGE or funky monsters AKWASSA were at the forefront of the movement. I deliberately call it their second album despite three albums that were released under the monicker HEADS FUNK BAND with exactly the same line up as AKWASSA from 1975 to 1978. However, the main difference between In the groove' and the earlier records is a more slick and polished feeling and a strong reggae element. Next to this, there are definitely a few more up to date disco funk influences that outweigh the classic raw streetfunk we could find on the predecessors of In the groove'. So the development in sound and style is obvious. 'In the Groove' has a more easy, more relaxed feeling. The atmosphere is bright and certainly reaches out for a wider audience. AKWASSA were stars in their palce. In the groove' was a perfect album that would appeal to each and every fan of funky music. All the members of AKWASSA stayed with music after the band dissolved in the late 70s, some of them until recent years, others straight up into the 80s or 90s. Even though this important Nigerian band called out it's quit somewhen, they left a rich legacy of music! Colorful and inspiring this album is made to last forever due to the memorable hooks and harmonies. While collectors spend 1.000 EUR for original copies, an official reissue of this monster rarity was overdue and Afro Funk lovers around the world will leap for joy as nearly all tunes could be played in a row to set the dancefloor ablaze!

Fatty Fatty Phonographics is a new label out of Dublin determined to dispense with lazy loop button editing and get back to the original point - to make great songs work better on the dancefloor .
Pablo is a member of the Downtownsounds crew, who have been keeping the fair capital safe for house and disco shimmy-ing for over a decade now, while Shoey is the resident production whizz from External Sounds, a Drogheda based collective with the same spirit and soul...
First on the chopping block is the rambunctious disco-funk of The Emotions' 'I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love'. Produced by Earth, Wind and Fire's Maurice White and legendary arranger Charles Stepney, this one plays heavily on the gospel flavoured vocal breakdown and heavy funk horns, which Andy Weatherall et al chewed a chunk off of for the Primal Scream classic 'Loaded'.
Following Dead Rose Music Company's recent hypno-house floor-smasher 'Just A Bitter Love', the lads take the Gladys Knight belter 'Taste Of Bitter Love' and put the song right back at the centre, playing around with the luscious piano line and keening strings, even creating a dreamy new 2 step outro for sweet and smooth mixing out...
Last but not least we have legendary funky drummer Bernard Purdie and his 1972 cut 'Good Livin' Good Lovin'. It's a heavy funk bomb with a psychedelic wah-wah led intro and an absolutely killer piano line, not to mention some wise words from Bill Cosby on the jazz, lifted from obscuro American cult comedy show 'The Simpsons'.

This monster Underground Disco classic was produced by the legendary Patrick Adams and it's considered to be one of his best and rarest pressings. Released in 1977 on P&P Records, 'Dance Dance Dance' was ahead of its time laying ground for the signature sound he'd soon to be known for on productions for the likes of Inner Life, Loleatta Holloway, Bumblebee Unlimited, and Musique. This Classic release combines a smooth blend of Latin rhythms, an infectious bass line and Arp keyboards that create a dubbed out cosmic vibe, while Marta Acuna's dreamy vocals glide in and out. This is the perfect tune to close out an evening of hot summer dancing, a NYC Disco Classic. This Highly sought after and extremely rare 12' has seen other lives as well, heavily sampled in Underground House tracks like Alex Neri's 'Planet Funk' and covered by Joey Negro and his Sunburst Band. 'Absolute disco classic right here... out on P&P back in 1977. One of our favorites...a record everyone needs to hear.' Bicep

The second half of previously unreleased Aurra recordings produced by Slave-founding member Steve Washington will be released on December 11th.
The Album was recorded in 1983/84 just after the Salsoul years with his wife Sheila who had just finished writing and touring with The Brides Of Funkenstein.
Plans were made for it's release on Quincy Jones' newly formed Qwest Records, but legal troubles complicated it's release.
The first part of the album 'Satisfaction' was released in 2013. Body Rock represents the final chapter in the Aurra catalog.

Ashley Beedle returns to the Kat Records stable, this time on their 45 offshoot....
First up we have Flora Purim getting Ashley Beedle's extended edit treatment with the sublime Latin Jazz Funker Angels. Great vocal hooks, guitar licks and a jazz funk groove with added disco overtones to boot !...If the Mizell Brothers had been born in Rio then this is what it probably would've sounded like.
On the flip we have Brian Protheroe's Pinball. A lost psychedelic pop classic which got to no.22 in the charts in 1974. A staunch Ashley Beedle fave with his tripped reworking doing exactly what i says on the tin... Dubbed, stretched, spaced out and arranged to perfection......

Music For Dreams are extremely proud to announce the first-ever vinyl release of 'Cantoma', the debut album from legendary Café Del Mar DJ and collector extraordinaire, Phil Mison aka Cantoma.
Left, right and center, Phil has been one of the key players in the chill out/Balearic scene and today is more in- demand than ever playing festivals and clubs all over Europe - recent gigs include playing DJ Harvey's birthday bash at Pikes in Ibiza and alongside NYC icon Justin Strauss. His first album, the self-titled 'Cantoma', was originally released back in 2003 and quickly become a modern chill out classic selling over 15,000 copies with tracks featured on more than 150 compilations and supported by quality DJs such as Ross Allen, Idjut Boys, Moonboots, Harvey and many many more. This new vinyl edition is spread over three records and includes all the original cuts that have become modern Balearic, chill and lounge anthems: 'Pandajero' with its dubbed out flamenco; the Indian vibes of 'The Call'; 'Rain' showcasing Phil's fantastic guitar playing over electronic beats; the beautiful 'Essarai'; 'Overtime's dubby styling and the
Mediterranean moods of 'Etoile'. On this album, every track truly is a winner. The 2015 vinyl release also features bonus tracks and mixes not available on the 2003 LP, including three tracks
recorded during the original album sessions but only ever used on special limited Japanese versions and compilations: the summery 'Bill Morgan On The Organ'; atmospheric 'Trussevich' and accordion-based 'Katja'. We also have a previously unreleased gem discovered while digging in the archives of the Music For Dreams headquarters - 'Mondo Christy' is an uptempo Joe-Claussel-style stomper with a blend of beautiful violin and
acoustic guitars which sounds as fresh as when it was first made. Another heavy-hitter is the highly sought-after Banzai Republic remix of 'The Call', a track DJ Harvey included on his legendary San Diego Mixes from 2004. And to top it all off, there's a specially commissioned brand new Ruf Dug remix of the LP's biggest track 'Pandajero'. Manchester's Ruf Dug slows down the original, bringing extra keys and his magnificent Compass
Point style to create a perfect sunset tune. Triple vinyl release limited edition to 300 copies - no repress - don't sleep ..

Two totally new tracks: "Mistakes" which is more like old Italo sound, "Wake Up"... a mixture of 80s Italo and US hi-nrg. And then there will be a cover from "Hypnotic Tango" and the track "Be My Lover" which has been released already earlier on SP Records compilation. Special thanks to Magic System DJ and to Dana Jean Phoenix for their vocals.

Messalina Records return with a superb collection of Balearic rarities lovingly re-edited by Lucci Capri. Kicking off is the brilliant reggae tinged slo-mo funk groove of 'Madness & Judgement' taken from an obscure German LP followed by a superb extended instrumental edit of the uber rare 7' 'Atlantis' from 1979, a dreamy Balearic gem with added keys and horns by Lucci. Flip over for the stretched-out DJ-friendly 'Paradise Pastime' a killer Calypso disco remake of the Stevie Wonder classic, followed by 'Say Sayonara', a beautiful synth soundscape with cool vocals from Japan and finally an extended floor-filling edit of an impossible to find 7' B side from Brazilian boogie dons Robson & Lincoln. Top quality!
