Thank you for purchasing this trio of vinyl records.
The music contained within is a delightfully diverse collection that I hope you will find pleasing to your ears. Much like a bowl of goulash, not all the ingredients may be to your liking. It is undeniably more rustic roadside tavern than refined dining but as you have already purchased this release (downloads do not come with liner notes!), I guess you already trust me behind the pots and pans.
I have been spoilt for choice by the many fine ingredients available to me and have become somewhat blinded in compiling the final tracklist. However, the end result has now been tested on my nearest and dearest to approval. And with that I present to you, my own special "Paradise Goulash".

Kid Flicks is the music project started by greek producer and songwriter Nickos Devisis. Highly inuenced by the bright side of contemporary athenian life, multiculturalism and the internet culture, Kid Flicks created a unique sound which draws from various genres and styles. From electronic to sample-based music to psych pop to world music, the album full of upbeat pop melodies, explosive percussion and greek, middle eastern and african music references. Kid Flicks' third album Kid Flicks' and first with an updated 3-piece line up, will be released by Klik Records in Greece and wordandsound in the rest of Europe on late June. On December 2015 they showcased at Glimps Festival in Belgium and their creative process and involvement in the athenian music scene were one of the subjects of CBC Arts documentary series Interrupt This Program". They currently work with Brooklyn-based PR agency Drunken Piano (Carpark, Yep Roc) and booker JJ Pallis (Boogarins).

We don't know much about Domenique Dumont, nor do the guys at Antinote. In fact, they don't seem to care: they just came across the artist's music and decided to release it.
The eponymous track, Comme Ça, sets the tone for a pastel-coloured album with its dreamy French (is it
French) lyrics, steel drums and light reverbed claps. The following track, L'Esprit de l'Escalier, takes us even
deeper into Dumont's lost paradise of never-ending soft rock shows. La Basse et les Shakers is the clubfriendliest
track of the record, yet it doesn't lack the genuine sincerity that makes those tunes almost familiar to
our ears.

La Bataille de Neige and Un Jour Avec Yussef might be the most melancholic tracks on the album, sounding like
revived childhood memories, while the last tune, Le Château de Corail, is both a summary and a conclusion to the LP, a goodbye song that encapsulates all of the emotional shades which sprinkled on the five previous tracks.

There's a pinch of nostalgia throughout Domenique Dumont's record, of a time when a curious idea could turn intoa soon-to-be forgotten (yet-to-be discovered) pop song. Consider it an introduction to your warm summer nights.

Natürlich! Denn eines ist gewiss: bei Portable bleibt alles im Fluss. Aufgewachsen in einem verarmten Township in Kapstadt und von Chicago House sozialisiert. 1997 der Umzug nach London. Gründung des Labels Süd Electronic und erste, noch sehr atmosphärische 12-Inches. Dann die Begegnung mit Dub und Jahre in Berlin. Entwicklung des spezifischen, synkopisch-fließenden Trademark-Sounds, der in Stefan Bethkes (Pole) Label Scape eine kongeniale Heimat fand. Die Hinwendung zu Bass, Dubstep und schließlich afrikanischen Elementen geht mit einem Umzug nach Lissabon einher. Ab hier kommen - in Kombination zum neuen Pseudonym Bodycode - verstärkt akustische Signaturen ins Spiel. Und mit "Alan Abrahams" jetzt auch noch Jazz und klassische Elemente.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced she will release her new album Familia on 2nd September which will be preceded by new single Come With Us released on 19th July, both via her own label EBGB's and Red/Essential.
Familia will be Sophie Ellis-Bextor's sixth studio album and follows her #4 charting and silver certified album Wanderlust, which marked a critically acclaimed change in musical direction for Sophie. Released in January 2014, Wanderlust went on to spend 6 months in the UK chart and gave Sophie her first top 10 record since 2007's Trip The Light Fantastic. Wanderlust has gone on the sell in excess of 100,000 copies.
The lead track into the record Come With Us brings with it a touch of Sophie's original disco sound. Upbeat from start to finish, it is an instant disco-pop track that is as modern as it is retro with a completely addictive chorus. Sophie says it is what happens when Ed Harcourt and I write Four on the floor. It is a live disco song about the lure of a cult.
Familia features 11-tracks, which continue to showcase Sophie's newfound lyrical and musical maturity, from the beautiful and emotive unrequited to the synth-laded ballad Death Of Love and the alt-pop buoyant opener Wild Forever.

Rebirth 10 marks the 10th Anniversary of Rebirth Records.
It's a special compilation, spread over 2 CDs, selected and mixed by the legendary Larry Heard Aka Mr. Fingers, including some of the key releases of the label in this first 10 years plus a couple of unreleased tracks.

Established by Daniele 'Shield' Contrini in 2006, Rebirth Records has surely grown up over the years into one of the most respected Italian independent labels. A series of high impact releases alongside a focused and strong promotional work, have helped to enhance the reputation and credibility of Rebirth.
The label owner Shield remembers 'The first release was a record that had been in my bag for years. I just wondered why not resurfacing it again with a new remix and a vocal version and that's what I did. And If 'Finest Dream' feat. Alison Limerick was ready, remixed by Silicone Soul'. Shield continues 'The philosophy behind the label finds its roots in the past, building a link between the soul of a song and the warmth of a melody then combining them with a contemporary sound. I'm always looking for something timeless, something that I can imagine to still listen to in 20 or 40 years time. Collaborations with artists like Shara Nelson, Tracey Thorn, Ben Onono and recently Antena have been essential moments for us. In this first 10 years we released music from established artists like Joey Negro, Michel Cleis, Agoria, Butch, Marc Romboy, Freaks, Rampa and Blond:ish. Talking about the celebratory compilation Shield says 'Who better than Larry Heard could do it for us He delivered a mix that embodies the soul and the different facets of the label. Larry, as well as having remixed three songs for the label, is among the producers who had written the history of a musical genre and one of the names who most have influenced our music. The cover of the CD is designed by Emil Schult, who has created some special images for the occasion. Visiting him in his studio in Dusseldorf and breathing his Kraftwerk experience has been an unforgettable moment. I'm really pleased they both agreed to work on this project'.

Medium Medium's debut album, The Glitterhouse, was originally released on Cherry Red in October 1981. This reissue also features the Hungry, So Angry,' single version which was produced by Adrian Sherwood at Berry Street Studio in London.

In Sound International magazine Dave Henderson wrote prophetically, It could be one of the most important records of the type to emerge this year and will doubtlessly be revered as a classic after the group have long since departed.'

Also included is a selection of tracks from Cherry Red's 2001 Hungry, So Angry retrospective compilation album, the B-side of the band's debut single on Apt and a previously unreleased demo version of a song from the 1982 Sound-Products EP. It includes a bonus EP featuring previously unreleased tracks from the 2008 Village recording session. All of the various lineups of Medium Medium are represented.

Formed at the end of 1978 Medium Medium's self-described extreme dance music' had reviewers scrambling to draw comparisons with the band's contemporaries and find a label for its post punk sound.

Medium Medium's solid dance rhythms and chaotic, chiming guitar were superficially reminiscent of the Gang of Four and Talking Heads, but Rees's tangential sax playing and Graham's tape and keyboard interjections from the front-of-house mixing desk took Medium Medium in another direction.

Free-blown dubbed-up white funk' was how Max Bell described the sound in England's New Musical Express (NME). At the forefront of the post punk funk movement,' raved Cashbox in the U.S. Billboard magazine opined that this was post punk and post disco dance music.'

The list of musical highlights for Vincent Williams aka DJ Spinna are too numerous to list, from his seminal hip hop duo Jigmastas and DJ sets across the globe, to his iconic solo productions and
remixes. But if you ask him, it's the relationship he's forged with personal hero Stevie Wonder that Spinna considers to be his single greatest achievement. As with most artists of a soulful persuasion, Stevie's music influenced Spinna from the outset,
dictating everything from his approach to writing to his use of Fender Rhodes and Moog bass-lines on his productions. Having gained so much from the great man, Spinna decided to pay tribute in the form of 'Wonderfull', a series of parties celebrating the Wonder of Stevie. This is where the story became somewhat surreal for Spinna, suddenly finding himself joined onstage in
Washington D.C. by none other than Stevie himself, a spine-tingling moment even when viewed on YouTube. An extension of the Wonderfull parties, this album represents a celebration of the life, music and cultural impact of Stevie Wonder. Few compilers can boast Spinna's understanding of Stevie's back catalogue, not to mention the large number of
songs he's written for other artists over the years. Featuring stunning cover versions you may well have never heard before alongside songs many of us had no idea he'd written, Spinna's vast knowledge of and boundless enthusiasm for

Pets Recordings hit their 59th release, handing the reigns to rising star Adam Port who presents a fresh update on '80s synthtronica, mixed with a smattering of gradual peak-time, bottom-heavy house structure. 'This Time' is the product of a new and fruitful relationship between Adam and vocalist Jennifer Touch, who grabbed Port's attention with her stand out vocals on the Nightstalker EP on Riotvan. The pair connected and began meeting for off the cuff, un-planned sessions at the Keinemusik studio in Stattbad, with Port bringing his knowledge of the dance-floor, Touch her 80's'esque new wave sound and influences. 'It's a very good flow with her' says Adam. 'We're speaking the same music language even when we have a different background". Pets bosses Catz 'n Dogz immediately asked to sign the track after hearing Adam play it out. Full of dark, new wave pop sensibilities and edgy, dance-floor nuance, the original's slow and meandering electronic drum rhythm - permeated by crisp, mechanical snares, cymbal flashes and a guitar-picked loop with deep bassline and chanting background vocal melodies - make way for Jennifer's haunting vocal delivery while melancholy synths drape the track during it's choral bridge. Adam then progressively notches up in tempo as marching beats help to drive the track towards the dance-floor. Sei A delivers a punchy, bassy remix - driven by a thick and pounding kick drum at it's core - while radiating, pulsing synth bass slowly melt into range, before a high tempo organ riff heralds a darker, techno leaning excursion into full force peak-time territory before brutalist saw wave bass lines bring the warehouse vibes on the drop.

When Geraldo Pino rolled into town from Sierra Leone with his Heartbeats, Nigeria had never seen anything quite like them. Slick, tight and playing the latest James Brown-style funk on the very expensive equipment, they soon had the country in their thrall. 'Made me fall right on my ass!' a chastened Fela Kuti remembered in 1982. Fans of Geraldo's disarmingly eloquent enunciation on early albums - re-issued soon by PMG - may shocked the gruff, rawer tones on Boogie Fever. The album starts with a jaunty reggae track extolling the virtues of ganja and, later, 'Dance Fever' sounds like it was recorded down in Trenchtown after Geraldo had taken a toke or two of his own advice. Even the more traditional funk tracks like 'African Hustle' have a darker, more threatening vibe. Not that that is a bad thing. Boogie Fever is the sound of consummate musician letting his hair down. Or in Geraldo's case, letting it grow into a tight afro and not bothering to watch his Ps and Qs anymore. - Peter Moore,

"Geraldo Pino came to Nigeria from Freetown in Sierra Leone in 1968 with his band THE HEARTBEATS and quickly changed the music scene completely. He was the first bandleader that brought sophistication into show business. He owned the best musical equipments, his costumes on stage was fantastic, his musicians were good looking guys with afro hair styles. His drummer then was Francis Foster who later played percussion with Paul Simon. Pino got the title of THE HARDEST WORKING MAN IN SHOW BUSINESS in Nigeria. Girls loved him. I later joined his band with new set of musicians in 1974 as a singer while he based in Kano in the north of Nigeria. To survive in Nigeria those days as a musician you have to be very good on stage and Pino was. His stagecraft was exhilarating, his costumes were dazzling, he command the band and his audience wherever he played with his dancesteps and he became an inspiration to many Musicians. He later moved to Port Harcourt where he lived and died many years ago. Though he is dead, his music lives on through his many songs and this vinyl in your hands. His memory also lived with those who watched him on stage. Ladies and gentle men, this is GERALDO PINO!"

L.u.c.a. is Francesco De Bellis aka Francisco. Years ago he started putting together some selections for a friend of his: Luca. The intention was to pick songs to be played during car rides, and like any other kind of ritual, this too would come with strict rules. You'd have to go throw the whole selection of 100 tracks without skipping, because every single one was important. Be it the sounds, the arrangement or its creativity, each track was there for a very specific reasons. It quickly became a monthly event which for several years evolved in a deep musical research without genre boundaries: Disco and psychedelic, soundtracks, library music, exotica, electronic and dance music, italo, new wave, pop or prog. Tracks of each and any historical period and provenance had been featured in this special compilations. But it wasn't always that easy to come up with the right piece and eventually Francesco started producing a few on his own to fill in the gaps. After six tracks, it was quite clear that there was a project developing, one in which he could finally experiment freely, leaving behind the rules that often come with dance tracks. Of course, no name could have been better than the one of his friend that had inspired everything And so L.u.c.a was born. Now, while preserving the same mind set, L.u.c.a is back with an album that embraces a new-hippie vibe, strongly pervaded by a mystical naturalism. This is a whole new universe in the making, where rumbling magmatic atmospheres evolve gradually in a journey through an idealist new world, celestial interludes revealing a full take over of nature, with a pervasive library feel that dates back to the great Italian masters, carrying on Edizioni Mondo's legacy.

With his project Fred und Luna musician Rainer Buchmüller (Sugar Ray Buckmiller) from Karlsruhe, Germany is paying tribute to his favourite electronic oriented music by using its characteristics like repetition and beautiful melodies, putting them in a contemporary context and preserving their subtle and seductive charm.
Fred und Luna play their self described Elektrokraut (concerning songs that are basically Kraut mixed with electronic elements) and Krautelektro (which is Elektro mixed with Kraut elements).
They live in Karlsruhe which - like Düsseldorf - lies next to the river Rhine. Perhaps Karlsruhe is the NEW (neu) Düsseldorf, with Fred und Luna (as pioneers/vanguard).

Since the release of the album Catapulte' in 2013, media have been used to describing Chevalrex' music as miniature symphonies". For this album, Rémy Poncet, the handyman that plays himself all the instruments, writes his own lyrics and even makes his own cover, has decided to keep the same path but meanwhile, has grown in melodic power and maturity. I finally let my teen life behind, and from now on, offer me some peaks' he sings in Aussi Loin". With this new release, there is reason to wager that Chevalrex will be one of the future pearls that will be used as a reference for those who will venture out on the roads of French Pop.

Reissue of Elias Rahbani & His Orchestra's super rare Arabic Disco holy grail 'Liza Liza' on the original Lebanese 'Voix De L'Orient' label. Recorded pre-Civil War at a time when Beirut was known as the 'Paris of the Middle East', a luxurious holiday destination and flourishing trade centre. The title track is totally out of this world, perfectly blending Eastern & Western vocals, instruments and musical influences with a driving disco bassline to create an irresistible floor filling cosmic odyssey. The flipside features the even more out-there 'From The Moon' a fantastic tripped out psychedelic disco funk monster, followed by the dreamy accordion-led 'Summer Love'. Also boasting one of the sexiest covers in disco history further illustrating the liberal thinking and western influence in Lebanon at the time. Highly recommended!

Top quality reissue of Yellow Power's highly sought after X Records 12" release which features the wonderful extended versions of the cosmic disco classics Hai Samurai and Megawar. Originally released on a limited pressing back in '82, both these tracks are fantastic with driving electro beats and basslines layered with catchy synth riffs and deservedly became huge on the Cosmic scene with Baldelli and Beppe Loda. Due to its scarcity, this 12' has been a highly prized gem ever since.

After a great response to their first two releases, the secret society called Balearic Blah Blah continue to dig deep for number three pulling out secret outtakes and unexpected forgotten classics from their extensive collections. First up is 'Day Off', an uber-Balearic cut sounding like a Jose Padilla-era Cafe Del Mar classic or maybe a warm-up track for Alfredo or Leo Mas at Amnesia in that heady summer of '87. Next comes the brilliant Dub To Me', a Compass Point Studio creation mixed by Robert Palmer and surfacing for the first time here on vinyl. 'Pull Dub' on the flip is another heavy Compass Point gem - an unreleased Larry Levan outtake, with crazy dubbed out guitars and synths lacing the Paradise Garage classic. Lastly we have a great extended version of a long-lost New Romantic floor-filler from one of the UK pioneers of electronic music - one for lovers of the Greg Wilson/Trevor Jackson sound. Limited edition.

Brand spanking new edits imprint Same Speed celebrate the sound of the samba in 2016 in a very unique way. Searching out the more obscure uses of Brasilian rhythms over the past 30 years or so, the boys have dug out two rare treats - one from Norway and another from California - and given them the Same Speed re-touch, aimed directly at the dance floor.

All Same Speed releases are limited, hand-stamped vinyl-only affairs, but also be on the look out for the occasional re-work of more contemporary artists, available for free download as a little treat, to pimp up your DJ sets this summer.

Releasing obscure electronic disco from 1977 to 1980 with the special touch of virginity. The emotion and the power these tracks have, is indescribable. The title cut "On The Dot" is a straight up disco jam, and it's right on point. "Wharfside" was inspired by 70's yacht rock, and steams forward with sounds of today.

Once again, the Sunkissed camp get it spot on with this loud-pressed 12' collection of Balearic classics from Brazilian songstress Astrud Gilberto. Opens with the original version of mesmerising dancer 'Black Magic', a great DJ weapon that got the Tangoterje edit seal of approval a few years back. Followed by Balearic favourite 'Beginnings', a jazzy take on Chicago's classic hit which spins out into eight minutes of sensual bliss. Turn over for big Daniel Wang play, the obscure LP track 'All I've Got', a glorious low-slung floor-filling gem produced by none other than Salsoul Orchestra founder Vince Montana who also supplies the sublime disco version of the song that made Astrud a household name 'The Girl From Ipanema'. Lastly comes her cool and breezy version of the Bossanova jazz standard 'Agua De Beber'. Beautiful stuff.

Following on from the blistering Neil Diablo release, KAT are back with a couple of edits of grand proportions by stem edit master, The Reflex...
First up we have the 1975 gem that is 'Shining Star' as penned by the Earth, Wind and Fire dream team Larry Dunn, Philip Bailey and Maurice White (with production coming from the latter). Here we have The Reflex's own re-vision stripping back the original to bare all it's glory and lovingly stringing it back together using the original multi-tracks and re-arranging to twice the length of the original. BPM locked (so no excuses whilst mixing) and sonically enhanced with mastering done by Roland Schwarz... this one is destined to fly.
Disco Funk Soul Whatever the genre, this crossover beauty firmly works on that all important dance floor.
