A couple of years ago, Epoch established his Egyptian Avenue imprint with a few releases of skewed, bass-heavy club tracks from himself, Wen and Filter Dread. In the hiatus since, Epoch has been busy releasing on Innamind Recordings and Keysound compilations, but now - with little warning - he is resurrecting Egyptian Avenue with a startling change of direction. AVENUE001 features a couple of original Epoch productions that are a distinct step away from previous material, as he crafts two deeply reflective soundscapes built for nocturnal listening. The record's A side, Windmill, features the soulful vocal talents of London-based AFIYA. Her voice transfixes; meandering and drifting over waves of gently probing breakbeats and a grainy synth melody line to powerfully emotive effect. Even more wistful and sombre still, Devotion combines ghostly atmospherics with the chilling vocal and violin contributions of accomplished LA-based musician Alicia Kiah. Sunken ripples of sub-bass lurk beneath her violin strokes and the insistently swaying percussion, creating a mournful, yet beautiful, piece of music. The personal, emotionally charged nature of Epoch's release perhaps showcases another facet of his production, and marks a fine way to re-launch Egyptian Avenue.

Highlights, the band's first collection of new material since their critically-lauded debut, Mixed Emotions, in 2012, began in a basement in Pittsburgh and ended in a church in Brooklyn. It trades world music sounds for a more alive, realized approach, the result of Emm and Cohen knowing they wanted to break from their 'two guys, one screen' writing style.

Als Hälfte des US-amerikanischen Duos The Civil Wars feierte Joy Williams zwischen 2009 und 2014 weltweit große Erfolge; die beiden Alben verkauften sich alleine in den USA mehr als 800.000 Mal und bescherten den beiden vier (!) Grammys. Mit "Venus" erscheint nun am 26. Juni 2015 das erste Solo-Album von Joy Williams seit dem Ende von Civil Wars. Die erste Single "'Woman (Oh Mama)' handelt davon, die eigene Schönheit und die Stärke zu erleben, die man in seiner eigenen Haut erfährt. London's Motek Music is back with 'All on Me' - a release loaded with a plethora of underground talent. The original and range of remixes allow something for all the dance floors over the House music scene.

Heading up the release with the original mix is Superlounge's collaboration with the highly in-demand Canadian singer Forrest. Superlounge have seen their productions grace labels such as Soulfooled, Supernature and Noir to name a few. Forrest's vocals have been used by many industry heavyweights as the 'icing on the cake', that final sublime finishing touch that sets one track apart from the rest. He's worked with the likes of Avatism, Eric Volta, Re.You, Shall Ocin, Tom Budden and many more. This original mix floats along with shimmering bell like textured synths and soft punchy percussion. Organ riffs and soft stabby finishes add depth and atmosphere to round off an elegant instrumental. Finally Forrest brings a beautiful ambiance to the track through his soft but very present vocal.

The remixers in this release need little introduction, starting with Eric Volta's 'We Discover The Light Within'. The man responsible for one of 2013 biggest records - 'Love Your Illusion' has once again expectedly done the unexpected. His take on the track is experimental, fresh and thought provoking, providing his signature twist to Superlounge's already impressive track. A little more driving than the original and with a broken beat flavour, this version offers a strong groove through a very wooden textured percussion section. Sitting on top of this flow open and closed cutoff synth keys parts that add movement throughout the track. Warm chords, to strong improvised solo parts give the track a mystical feel and a real sunset ambient vibe. Crystal like swirling string synth pads finish off this track, gliding across the production.

Up next is Maher Daniel's remix, the most up tempo and darkest of the pack. Deep Tech House in feel, this track powers along over a strong kick and conga/tom base, driving hats and ride cymbals. Holding the weight of the track is the constant dark bass pad on top of which the groove and vocal sit. Distant reverb FX elements and crowd style noise textures add depth and atmosphere to the mix creating space for the percussive xylophone style lead, arpeggiating over a track suited perfectly for the after hours.

Hands Free and Kosmas combine forces to bring us the final remix in this release with an intelligent piece of dance floor friendly music. As with the previous remixes, this delivers a smooth flowing ambient atmosphere whilst still creating a strong punch and groove through the percussion and bass, to captivate any dance floor. A bold echoing lead line drives the track above soft, warm pad textures including use of the vocal, edited to add air and space to the production. The final touches to this remix are in the subtle riffs and FX parts that come and go throughout, whether in the foreground or background, creating movement which subconsciously captivate.

Stratford-raised Denai Moore signed to London independent label, Because Music (Metronomy, Little Dragon, Django Django...) and then Ben Drew was in touch; he'd heard a couple of Denai's songs and wanted to work with her on production, eventually producing The Lake EP in 2013 (he's since signed her to his publishing company.). A much vaunted solo spot on the BBC's Later... with Jools Holland followed, Denai commanding a grand piano under the studio spotlight. 'This girl's really special!' remarked a YouTube commenter days later. Special indeed. To discuss influences is to give very little indication of what route Denai was to take or indeed has ultimately taken. She's as passionate about the music of Joey Bada$$ and Tinashe as she is of Bon Iver, Kendrick Lamar, and Foals. Raury's music excites her, whilst James Vincent McMorrow contributed to a track on her 'I Swore' EP. Denai's cover of Band of Horses' 'Part One' was heard by the band and her version re-recorded by them. At the tail-end of last year, it came as little surprise that Denai's distinctive soul voice could be heard on SBTRKT's acclaimed 2014 album, on the track 'The Light', which she co-wrote with him. Denai recently completed a UK and European tour in support of and in collaboration with him. Fresh from those album sessions, the captivating 'I Swore EP' drew 2014 to a melodic close and gave a hint as to what's to come. Denai (aided solely by piano) performed a live session on Huw Stephens Radio 1 show at the tail end of the year, whilst the EP's title track was lauded as BBC Introducing Track of the Week on 1Xtra.

Vancouver DJ/producer (Homebreakin') kicks off his 7"-only label w/some synth-driven disco-funk propelled by the "Bom Bom Bom" chant. The flip is a hair more chill but still hooky, with a cinematic flair.

This Soft Machine makes his debut on Eskimo Recordings with a double-sided release including instrumentation from Dave Harrington of DARKSIDE contributing electric guitar, alluring vocals by Lorraine Nicholson for 'On & On' and Dan Whitford of Cut Copy fame, who helped record the synths.

Django Django's debut album came out in January 2012 on Because Music and was lavished with praise. It was 'updated psychedelia that beguiles and delights' (The Guardian), 'consistently mind-melting and often brilliant' (Q), 'bursting with ideas' (Pitchfork) and 'gloriously, unpredictably new' (Mojo). By December it had been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and named one of the albums of the year by Rolling Stone and NME. They became known from their electric live performances full of energy, and went on to play memorable shows at festivals across the globe including as Glastonbury and Fuji Rock. Born Under Saturn is the work of a band fired up by confidence and experience and propelled way beyond their DIY roots. It has all of the imagination of their debut self-titled album but splashed across a larger canvas. 'Once we got into the studio it became obvious it would be a bigger-sounding record,' says bassist Jim Dixon. Recorded at Netil House in east London and Angelic Studios in Banbury, Born Under Saturn saw the song writing split four ways with Dave also producing the record. Lyrics often emerged naturally from the sound of the music. There are dark dramas like Found You, which draws on the myth of Faust's deal with the devil, and Shot Down, a bloody tale of crime and betrayal. Jim wrote the sighingly beautiful Beginning to Fade while contemplating writer's block and the atmospheric, synth-driven High Moon, says Dave, is about people who 'come alive at night". Born Under Saturn expands on the slippery, indefinable brilliance of the debut, finding magic in the unexplored spaces between different kinds of music, and never doing the same thing twice.

Jamaica's favorite US northern soul group, The Chilites, perform some smooth harmonies on an updated version of the 'Sleng Teng' rhythm produced by King Jammy's son, John John. Pad Anthony sings 'Caan Mek We Run Way' on another Jammys classic 'Jump Up' rhythm in his finest style.

Four years since they released Dring, Nôze are making a very welcome return to Circus Company with their fifth album Come With Us, and once again the pairing of Nicolas Sfintescu and Ezechiel Pailhes has yielded a collection of captivating and curious songs that could only come from the unique sound world they inhabit. As has been evident throughout their career from their early experimental house days through to the more recent song-based material for Get Physical, the Parisian duo have always moved on from album to album, maturing their sound to deliver a new experience for themselves and their listeners every time. On this occasion, Come With Us finds Nicolas and Ezechiel in a particularly introspective mood. Even as their work has naturally turned more to home-listening craft over the years, here they revel even more in personal reflection both musically and lyrically. Tracks such as 'Saint' conjure up the romanticism of dustbowl blues with its vagabond guitar tones (played by long time collaborator Thibault Frisoni), while Nicolas's voice reaches new distinctive heights in spellbinding tales like 'Apache". Emiliano Turi also lends a new sense of natural groove to the Nôze sound with his live drumming, and as ever, Nicolas and Ezechiel are keen to bring their friends into the fold for guest vocal spots.

No (THe reLATIVe eFFecT oF eXPLIcATIoN) is XIII's first album, artist close to the Gang. Modular synth sessions along with vocal samples, munky drums and delay jams create an obscure journey, suspended between a primitive analogue world and the depths of a cybernetic one. Pads and harmonious weavings somewhere in between Wanda Group and Robert Turman and Actress' style beats.

An introspective tale unties itself along 9 tracks, 3 of which are featuring with artists who have been important to the Gang's journey so far, Traag, Vaghe Stelle and Sabla, who help in delivering a whole picture of what the philosophy behind the label is.

Based between Turin and Berlin, XIII develops musical concepts and deals with performing arts. The (im)perfect sound, the (not) punctual distortion or the (un)suitable atmosphere, are constantly researched by XIII through modular synthesis, computer music and field recording, crossing beats and genres towards something not easily definable.

A moniker born in 2013 for the "A Great Symphony for Torino" project, in collaboration with Kode9, Scratch DVA and Clubtoclub. XIII is about to release his first debut album on Gang of Ducks in April 2015.

Starting off your journey with a guided introduction to the Studio Rockers' vibe for the new year from The Moody Boyz, a hot track with bass drops that just don't stop, already receiving big love from Tom Middleton and Joe Muggs with 'EAN' featuring on a Solid Steel mix.

Followed up by some more innovative world sounds from Nuphlo dropping an exclusive re-work of his single 'Nona', the Midlands based producer really showcases his ability refresh his approach and create new sounds.

'The Final Stage' is guaranteed to sound raw on any dancefloor, with an insane cacophony of bleeping and more bass than you'll know what to do with The Widdler continues to drop hard rhythms.

Bursting out of Karachi's budding electronic scene with clever rhythm juggling and serene vocal samples is Rudoh with his first UK release, 'Come To My Mind' recently gaining attention from VICE magazine over his Pakistan based label, Forever South.

'Locked' shows you with its unstoppable pulse and rich bass that Bunny on Acid is back and ready for a big year with Studio Rockers.

Dusk FM's resident DJ's Lyeform & Nomi release their first track with Studio Rockers, 'Get Lost', and it slips in with an ethereal soundscape cut short by a deep vocal before it goes into a tasty subby groove that keeps chugging along.

Then Marcel Lune stutters in sweeping and swimming sounds in 'Mungenden' until it concludes with some tantalising vocal sample play.

Popping straight out of the compilation at number 8 is a jumpy electronic number from Buckfunk 3000 pulsating drums and some synth wizardry, exactly what you need.

Next up a real banger from EVM128, a garage remix of his 'Naked Truth' single that gained a lot of radio support from Annie Mac and Monki on Radio 1 last year, now back with a remix. We know your going to feel it.

Straight in with some dark bass structures from Ollie Realness, another new name and sound to add to the Studio Rockers year, this warped, deep track gives a great contrast to some of the more ambient tracks on the compilation, truly showing the spectrum of current bass music.

Lewis Badwan is back after a big year with Studio Rockers slipping into his brooding, melodic 'Sea of Trees', the track hypnotises and swirls with swelling chords until it eventually crests and breaks with clever use of layered percussion.

Another return to Studio Rockers from Albert with 'Dripping The Who' coming hard with deep bass and a pounding four to the floor, a pumping track that'll keep you moving with some toasting-esque use of sampling.

Calming the vibe again some more new blood, Exposia creates interesting ambient textures with 'Hold Me Back' and then drops a tranquil female vocal that shows the contrast to the relaxed side of the Studio Rockers' New Year.

A glittery, shimmering track from another new name, Bhava is featuring the aptly named 'Shimmer' as the penultimate track for the compilation, tasty 808 sounds and such a gentle harmonic guitar part.

Rounding the compilation off with Smoke Signals' 'Let Go' with a massive bass and huge beat, innovatively orchestrated with beautiful reversed guitar sounds and an infectiously sweet vocal melody.

New names, some old Studio Rockers veterans and 15 fresh tracks are going to take you on a journey through the most exciting new bass music you're going to hear all year.
