1997 release for this legendary Brit-core band, this record clocks in at a healthy 50', no filler, pure dynamite!!! The best of 2 worlds for punks and heavies, it blends equal dosages of thrash-core and street-punk, and the result IMHO is the best record since their debut lp by far!! Production is breathtaking to boot!!! Dynamics my amp had a very hard time managing, esp on the lower end of the spectum where it has some little audible but amp-clipping frequencies, though, and the best guitar Jock ever played. This is a punk-rock steamroller and a must for any GBH fan.

Long before groups like Oasis and Blur provoked cross-Atlantic media hype, Catherine Wheel were evolving the Britpop style that typifies the genre's distinction. With the release of Chrome in 1993, they advanced their dreamy pop to the rock sound.

It's not like Catherine Wheel established their sound with Chrome, either. Ferment (MOVLP1880) was considered their supposed magnum opus, with the extremely successful lead-single Black Metallic'. Chrome is more appropriately described as a perfection of their established sound, as the band's metallic shoegaze is refined in terms of both intensity and melodic-content. Every element that made Ferment so memorable and enjoyable is amplified in this release. Rob Dickenson sings with perfect tenor appeal on tracks like Kill Rhythm' and Crank,' highlighting the personal temperaments which shape the album.

There are quite a few album covers out there that flawlessly encapsulate the atmosphere and/or mood of the music contained. Chrome has one of those covers. It's design came from the collective Hipgnosis, who gained international prestige for the cover of Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd.

Mollie Marriott is very proud of her heritage (daughter of former Small Faces and Humble Pie singer/guitarist Steve Marriott and step-daughter to singer Joe Brown) but it does not daunt her, she is ready to go it alone and will release her debut album Truth Is A Wolf'.

Says Mollie, I'm really excited about the album. It features a lot of different styles and I think it really showcases my vocals. We have a lot of fun making the album and I hope people enjoy listening to it. I can't wait to perform the songs when we tour with Bad Touch in the UK during November.

Mollie collaborated with Paul Weller on the album's title track "Truth Is A Wolf" and also "King Of Hearts". Paul is undoubtedly one of the most influential British artists of his generation, and the album's quality is testament to his involvement.

Control' is the first single taken from the album, and is supported by an official music video.

Control is all about taking back control of my music,' says Mollie. It was important so this was the right single to start with. I'm in the driver's seat going where I want to go. I co-wrote the song with Sam Tanner, lead vocalist with Brother Strut. We knew right from the beginning Control was the perfect song to release as the first single from the new album.'

Mollie began writing the debut album in Nashville and has fond memories of the recording process. She teamed up with Paul Weller whilst recording, who appears on two tracks, Truth Is A Wolf' and King Of Hearts'.

Says Mollie, I went to Nashville to start writing the album. The title track 'Truth Is A Wolf' written by Gary Nicholson, he was going to give it to Bonnie Raitt or Susan Tedeschi - two artists who are big influences to me. I heard the demo just wurli and vocals and thought it summed up my album. It was the perfect tile song.'

A lot of the songs reflect my life. 'Broken' is all about ending a relationship and the effect that had on me and my daughter. It's a rock album, but there are also elements of gospel and country. It's grungy, too. I am a grunge girl. I love Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam. Alanis Morrissette's 'Jagged Little Pill' is a favourite album of mine, and also a big influence.'

Melkbelly, formed by vets of Chicago's experimental and DIY scene champions, organized noise and thoughtful freneticism on its debut full-length, Nothing Valley, fusing dreamy vocal lines and cantankerous guitar racket. Its songs clang and bang in stripped-down production that highlights the band's sharp edges, multi-faceted slabs of sound serve harmonious, immediate songs.

So it shouldn't be a surprise that the band members' tastes run obscure--The Hecks, Lightning Bolt, and jazz drummer Paal Nilssen-Love and, as they tell us, bands and musicians that draw on a sense of adventure." The quartet's membership overlaps with several Chicago noise and experimental bands and art collectives.

An efficient one-day recording session resulted in Melkbelly's first EP, 2014's Pennsylvania, which opened the door to touring and opening slots for Speedy Ortiz, Magik Markers and Built to Spill, and led to The Chicago Reader calling Melkbelly one of the most exciting new sounds out of Chicago.' Next, Melkbelly got back to writing and working, recording a pair of 7-inches with Dave Vettraino at Chicago's Public House where it had made its first recordings ever for Public House's Digital Singles Series and a Public House compilation tape. The sessions gave the band a chance to deepen its collaboration with Vettraino.

Miranda writes most of Melkbelly's tunes on guitar and brings them to the band who puts them through the ringer, where they morph into a Melkbelly arrangement. Often, however, the band will take a guitar riff or two from an open jam recorded at practice and spin it into a song.

Nothing Valley was recorded in early 2016 in Vettraino's basement studio to 8-track analog tape. Fresh off a West Coast tour, the band let the hours on the road and missed art tourism opportunities at Spiral Jetty shape the songs as well as the recording process itself, writing half the album material in the studio. Nothing Valley breezes gust fresh and forcefully.

This, this long-playing record, a thing we made in the midst of communal mess, raising dogs and children. eyes up and filled with dreadful joy - we aimed for wrong notes that explode, a quiet muttering amplified heavenward. we recorded it all in a burning motorboat.

Silence is the Only Sound', the latest album from Kari Rueslåtten, is due for release on August 25. Kari Rueslåtten, queen of melancholia, has one of the finest voices in alternative Nordic folk-pop. She is one of the first role models for female singers fronting in a metal band (The 3rd and the Mortal) in the 90s, so she was the main inspiration for bands like Nightwish and The Gathering. Her new recording Silence is the Only Sound' reaffirms Kari Rueslåtten's ability to deliver incredible vocals laden with dark-edged melancholy. Silence is the Only Sound is Kari Rueslåtten´s 7th solo album and she will tour her new album in Europe and South America late 2017 and 2018.
Kari Rueslåtten has one of the finest voices of alternative Nordic folk-pop. She is known for her dark-edged melancholy, always aiming to uncover the beauty hiding in the dark.

Wer den Auftritt von Tito (Larriva) und seinen Taranteln im Titty Twister überlebt hatte, lebte seither in gespannter Erwartung des nächsten Albums. Was die meisten in ihrer Vondertarantelgebissenheit vergaßen, war, dass es sich hier um das in Musikerkreisen berüchtigte zweite Album handelte, den Nachfolger also, der oft nur ein Nachzieher ist. In der Tat blieb die erfolgreiche Formel von Tarantism auf Hungry Sally weitgehend erhalten. Musikalisch wagten sich Tito & Tarantula ein gutes Stück weiter vor. Die Produktion klang differenzierter und ausgefeilter, nicht ganz so rabautzig wie der Erstling. Der sehr spröde Charme von Titeln wie "When You Cry", "Love In My Blood" oder des Titelstücks verlangte schon genaues Hinhören, um hinter den verhalteneren Tönen die Falltüren und -gruben zu erkennen. Die Stimmung des Albums war insgesamt etwas dekadenter und subtiler geworden. Auch bei mehrfachem Genuss längerer Stücke trat keine Übersättigung ein. Und das German Fräulein war das ideale Dessert zum opulenten Großen Fressen, das aus elf bis zu zehnminütigen wohlkomponierten Gängen bestand.
