Together with Crime, the Nuns predated and singlehandedly helped to shape the Punk scene in San Francisco in 1976. Their demos from 1977 seemed to be lost in the mists of time forever, but now here they are, all of them unreleased. An ESSENTIAL piece in the history of vintage American Punk!!!

After much searching and detective work we bring you a splattering of more undiscovered gems plus a few old hard to find favourites.

First up we bring you THE FEATURES who were another old Roxy Club Punk band from Orpington in Kent. Both tracks have been taken direct of the master acetate that the band had cut in 1978 and pressed up 500 copies on their own Progress label. The next band THE INNOCENT BYSTANDERS is a real coup for us as its features TWO unreleased tracks from this obscure London based band. This is the same band that released "Where Is Johnny" on a split single with the "Debutantes" on the 'ROK' label in 1979. I can't stress to you how good these tracks are.... Full OF ATTITUDE with sneering vocals and the story behind this band is awesome! Tracks 5 & 6 are brought to you by VAIN AIMS who are a VERY obscure Welsh band who only ever did one gig and split but in their very short existence they managed to record and released a single to die for and is SO hard to track down as only 500 were pressed. What stands out for me on these two tracks are the vocals and the catchiness of the songs..... I can't believe this record is not on every body's wants list, I put that down to the fact hardly anyone knows about this release! We finish off side two with a North London based band called FENZYX who were mainly made up of ex members of Demon Preacher and released a sole 7" on the collectable 'Ellie Jay' in a pressing size of just 500 copies again in 1981.

Side two kicks off with the RAREST UK Punk Rock single ever pressed. YES, the GREAT BRITISH HEROES (aka GBH), both tracks have been taken from their withdrawn Lightning Records release. When this single surfaced a few years ago, ALL the collectors around the world went into total meltdown and were shocked that it was actually pressed, NOT even the band were aware! We now move onto another old favourite of ours as we were the first ones to crack the mystery of Birmingham's ANTI-SOCIAL. Most collectors would of heard these tracks by now but we wanted to share the story behind this band. The penultimate band THE PEROID hail from the outskirts of Manchester and were mates of The Buzzcocks. This band started off life in 1976 and did go through a few line up changes but did get their act together enough to enter into a studio. Sadly over the years, the master tape had got lost and these tracks have been salvaged from an old cassette found at the back of a draw. Now onto the band that closes this volume for us are UNDERDOG who were from Harlow in Essex. Not strictly a Punk band as they were on the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal scene but we thought it was a cross over single. PLUS both sides of the single are a FULL ON ATTACK of NOISE and in the true punk spirit they formed their own label and self financed a run just 500 copies - another tough record to find! So there you go... I hope you enjoy another album filled with rarities and great tracks!

New Holywax reissue with the mighty Masada by Swiss maestro Graziano Mandozzi. This musical masterpiece has been written for the soundtrack of the Hans Kresnik Ballet with the same name in 1977. It was the end of the 70s, when Federico Fiumani, together with two classmates, gave life to the embryonic line up known as CFS. The acronym is formed by the initials of the members. Cicchi (Gianni, drummer), Fiumani (guitar and voice) and
Susini (Salvatore, bass). Later, Susini was replaced by the brother of Cicchi, Leandro. The new incarnation of 'Diaframma' was born, with the singer now replaced with Nicola Vannini. From their earliest momenets they were sharing the same stages cathching the a simialr fanbase as their friends Neon, Pankow and Litfiba - whom all contributed transforming the Tuscan capital into the epicenter of Post-punk in Italy.

The story of Movements began in 1969 with JOHNNY HARRIS being hired as musical director for Lulu's BBC television show, A Happening For Lulu' which would feature a different artist

each week along with a featured instrumental section of JOHNNY HARRIS and his band playing popular hits of the day that were requested by viewers.

Lulu with JOHNNY HARRIS would go onto winning Eurovision in 1969 with Boom Bang A Bang' and Johnny was signed to a three album deal with the newly formed U.K arm of Warner Bros.
The first album in this deal was Movements in 1970. The second release for Warner Bros in the U.K

Movements was recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Well before Shuggie Otis (Born Johnny Alexander Veliotes, Jr.) cut his debut album, musicianship and performance had long been a part of his life. The son of rhythm and blues legend Johnny Otis, Shuggie learned to play guitar as early as the age of two, and performed professionally with his father's band at eleven. Throughout his long and illustrious career he'd performed on records for the likes of Frank Zappa, Al Kooper, Etta James, and George Duke, to name a few. In spite of all this, widespread mainstream success eluded Shuggie for much of his career, though he'd penned the Brothers Johnson hit "Strawberry Letter 23", and would experience a resurgence in 2013 with the reissue of his most famous album, Inspiration/Information. His career as a session musician stretched across many years, but his solo career started in 1970, with his full-length debut Here Comes Shuggie Otis. The album was produced and contained contributions by his father Johnny Otis, plus a potent roster of session greats like Wilton Felder, Stix Hooper, Leon Haywood, and Al McKibbon, to name but a few, with Shuggie himself at the helm, performing lead vocals, guitar, and various keys instruments. Here Comes Shuggie Otis is a hybrid of lush, baroque harpsichords and strings mixed with bouncing, hard edged funk and blues, reminiscent of a combination of 60s chamber pop and the best elements of Stax Records. Gritty and wild, while also lush and sprawling, Here Comes Shuggie Otis is a solid benchmark of production flair and improvisational aptitude.

Bus Vipers is the moniker of Canberra-bred, Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Daniel Ahern. A new signing to Future Classic, Bus Vipers comes fresh with a new live band and EP, Federal Highway. Sounding like a mix between Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Silversun Pickups, this indie rock project is prone to hooky vocals, punchy drums and strong guitar riffs. In 2013, triple j Unearthed ranked him #20 in the '50 Most Played Artists' of that year.

100 broken Windows is raw, rough edged punk yet traditional in lyrics with tight raging tracks. These 4 Scots neglected everything that was happening in the music business at the time and went down their own path, producing intense rock songs about growing up in the working class inspired by the greats from late 80s and early 90s such as Nirvana and REM, Sonic Youth and The Pixies.

This album definitely deserves a prominent place in any discerning music-lover's collection.

Hope is important is Idlewood's debut album recorded in 1998, the first full length release filled with distortion, Roddy Woomble's screeching vocals and utter chaos. This transitional album marks the beginnings of boys becoming men. A raw emo-punk album full of energy, laying out the path this band is going to go on in the future.

Some bands just know how to hit the sweet spot. Elder's second full-length Dead Roots Stirring, originally released in 2011, was an hour of fuzzed-out goodness, a plethora of uplifting psychedelic riffery that remains for many fans the band's defining album. The strength of some bands lies in their ability to churn out record
after record, never stepping outsideof their comfort zones. For others,such as Boston's Elder, it is a constant evolution that trademarks their sound. Beginning as a stoner/ doom band adept at equipping the styles of others, Dead Roots Stirring showed the young band emerging with their own unique take on heavy music.
The album's five long cuts unfold organically, never lacking in depth or ambition, guitarist Nick DiSalvo's infectious riffs are equal parts uplifting melody and crushing fuzz that remind the listener more of majestic landscapes than bong sessions,
while Jack Donovan (bass) and Matt Couto (drums) form a
solid core of rhythm, never losing a beat. Listeners will pick up on Following the release of Dead Roots Stirring - which came out as
the trio were just barely entering their twenties - Elder began touring both the United States and Europe, winning a reputation for themselves as an incredibly tight and powerful live band. Their second record continues to be a fan favorite and no live set is complete without the opening track Gemini', a headbanger of a song complete with thick grooves, flashy solo runs and a momentous ending - in short, everything great about Elder's music: a journey within each song full of valleys and peaks.

Elder's self-titled debut album from 2007 was an impressive offering of psychedelia-tinged stoner rock and doom that set the tone for the band's later progressive developments. This delux reissue features an extra LP of songs from the band's first ever recordings, never before seen on vinyl. In 2006, three longtime friends and members of the small music scene anchored in the port city of New Bedford, Massachusetts got together with the mission of making music that was heavier and more brutal than anything happening around. The first version of Elder was an interesting beast, combining sludgy riffs, primitive black etalvocals and Genghis Khan-themed lyrics. After toiling in these murky waters for a year, band members Nick DiSalvo (guitar), Jack Donovan (bass) and Matt Couto (drums) shed their extreme metal origins and emerged with their first proper album, Elder, an album that would already establish the band as some of the best riff-dealers this side of Birmingham.
As more recent works have demonstrated, Elder is no stranger to
blending and bending genres to their will, Elder proves that the
three teenagers were already dab bling with this idea in their incipient years. Imagine the massive riffs from bands like Sleep, Electric Wizard or Fu Manchu reconstructed to build epic psychedelic soundscapes and you're on the right track.
Growling, delay-soaked vocals and spacey keyboards add further
touches of uniqueness to Elder's brand of stoner doom.
To celebrate the record's 10 year anniversary, this reissue comes
with a second LP containing the band's first ever recordings from
their early days. Originally released as an MCD in 2006, these songs have never before been given a proper release - a welcome addition for any hardcore fan. The entire package has been remastered by Carl Saff and presented on colored 180gr. for your listening pleasure.

All hail the debut release from The Stallion! The Stallion is Ben Wallers and Alastair Mackinven of the Country Teasers. For two years they labored at the legendary Hit Factory recording studios in London as their schedule allowed. The project at hand was their long-planned / often-threatened The Dark Side Of The Wall — a song for song interpretation of Pink Floyd's 1979 album The Wall. At long last In The Red is proud to unveil the results. It should surprise no one familiar with Ben Wallers's work or re-cord collection that he would choose this particular album to honor.
The Wall's influence has been noticeable in his music before (see Spiderman In The Flesh' from the Country Teasers' Empire Strikes Back album). The man likes his Floyd—he even rates The Final Cut as brilliant'.
It should also surprise no one that Roger Waters's compositions from The Wall take a morbid and twisted turn in the hands of Wallers and Mackinven.
What was already a fairly dark and bleak piece of work becomes much darker and bleaker here. It's also longer. Pink Floyd's original contained 26 songs spread across four sides of long playing vinyl which, by comparison, was the same number of tracks as Pink Floyd's four previous studio albums combined. The Stallion's take on these same 26 selections spans six sides of vinyl. Mackinven says, it's longer so it's better, right'

EVANESCENCE return this fall with SYNTHESIS, their fourth studio album, slated for a Fall 2017 release. The group today, August 14, announced the Synthesis Live' tour will launch this fall beginning October 14 on the west coast (confirmed dates below). Like the album, Synthesis Live' will feature a reimagining of some of EVANESCENCE's best-loved songs with the spotlight on full orchestra, electronics combined with the band and Amy Lee's virtuoso piano and voice.

This is a total passion project for me. There are so many layers in our music, underneath the huge drums and guitars,' explains AMY LEE of EVANESCENCE. I've always wanted to shine a light on some of the gorgeous David Campbell arrangements and programming elements in our songs, and that idea snowballed into completely re-doing them with full orchestra, not just strings, elaborate programming and experimentation. This will be our first time touring with orchestra and I'm so excited to perform this way-really focus on the vocals, and the emotion and the story we've built over the years. I'm also really excited about the new material on the album. Besides the two new songs, there are some really beautiful instrumental in-between moments. Emotional Tattoos' is the sensational new album by Premiata Forneria Marconi (aka PFM), Italy's most legendary progressive rock band! PFM is a very eclectic and exuberant musical group with a distinctive style that impressively combines rock, progressive, and classical music into one mesmerizing sonic entity. Formed in 1970, the band quickly gained a prominent place on the international scene by making it to the Billboard charts (for 1973's Photos Of Ghosts'), and winning a gold record in Japan while constantly ruling the charts in their home country until today. PFM was honoured with position #50 in the UK Classic Rock Hall of Fame' of the 100 most important artists in the world as well as being awarded two gold records in their home country in 1971 and 1997. Emotional Tattoos' marks the return of the band's trademark sound after two rather experimental releases. The new album takes a melodic rock route while offering surprising musical twists and turns including moody synths, orchestral arrangements, straight-forward guitar-driven passages and wonderful ballads. This US initially comprised Steve Hayton (guitar/vocals), Cliff Carrison (drums) and Kurt Palombaki (bass/clarinet/vocals). The Trio spent its early months on a farm in New York state, before moving location to New Mexico. The promise of work in films brought the group to Europe in 1969, and although such plans were later aborted, they decided to settle in England. Daddy Longlegs showcased their appealing brand of good-time, country-influenced rock before the line-up was expanded to accomodate vocalist Mo Armstrong. Both he and Hayton then left the group, following which the drummer and bass player were moine by Peter Arneson (piano) and Gary Norton' Holderman (guitar), the latter of whom had worked with Carrison in Slim's Blues Band. Oakdown Farm was released on the renose Vertigo label, but progress was ampere by further changes in personnel.

Free Will was a legendary band from Upstate New York who formed in 1968 and signed to RCA Records in 1971 after a name change to Jukin' Bone. Led by vocalist Joe Whiting and lead guitarist Mark Doyle, the band also featured George Egosarian on second guitar, John DeMaso on bass, and Tom Glaister on drums. This was the line-up that recorded their first album for RCA, Whiskey Woman,' although earlier members included Bill Irvin on rhythm guitar and Barry Maturevitz on bass. By the time of their second lp, Way Down East,' Tom Glaister had been replaced on drums by two drummers, Danny Coward and Kevin Shwaryk.

Both albums featured original compositions by Whiting, Doyle, and Egosarian in various combinations, and were hailed by Creem magazine as seminal classics of 70's hard rock. While signed to RCA, the band toured with ZZ Top, Freddie King, The Allman Brothers, The Kinks, John Mayall, and Three Dog Night, among others. They disbanded acrimoniously in 1973, although Doyle and Whiting went on to record several fine albums on the Blue Wave label.

That should have been the end of the story, but the band was honored at the Syracuse Area Music Awards in 1993, resulting in them playing together for the first time in 25 years. Never fond of the name that their record company gave them (and all the attendant misery that it grew to represent for them), the boys reclaimed their original name, Free Will, and gathered together every few years to do major outdoor concerts in Syracuse, even putting out a live CD, Free Will Live On Stage' that captured the band playing all of its classic material at the top of their form.

Most recently, Jukin' Bone was inducted into the SAMMY'S Hall of Fame in 2017 and have started work on their first new album of original material in 44 years. The band has also signed an exclusive licensing deal with Akarma Records in Italy for the release on high quality vinyl and digital downloads of five albums' worth of early Free Will titles.

What transpires from this album, besides the psychedelic blues with a touch of jazz and sometimes a component of garage (for example the fantastic arrangement of River Deep, Mountain High') is the great technical preparation of the music performers. Listening to these songs today it's hard to believe that they've been recorded in 1969 and what's even more surprising, in addition to the guitar strings and the beautiful singers voice, is that the arrangements of the songs are perfectly fused into that genre of heavy psychedelia that was all the rage in those years. Maybe Free Will were too ahead of its times

Thanks to their aggressive and captivating sound-a mix of heavy rock with blues/psych/jazz influences -- they were always well received. Ilmo Smokehouse was started by Craig Moore, bassist and singer for the legendary Gonn, whose "Blackout Of Gretely" was one of the most popular garage tunes of the late sixties. The Music Emporium were a little-known Southern Californian psychedelic band of the late '60s, somewhat unusual in that they featured a four-member lineup evenly split between men and women, In most other respects, they were a more or less typical psychedelic act. Carolyn Lee's vocals sometimes bring to mind the United States of America or (more distantly) Jefferson Airplane, some of the tunes have a nice gothic/classical touch, and the lyrics are excessively cosmic (principal songwriter and organist Casey Cosby is the chief culprit). Their self-titled album is highly valued by some psychedelic collectors.

This home-made and self-produced platter was issued by Roy Buchanan (guitar/vocals) after being rejected by Polydor. The six-piece backing combo are deceptively tight and likewise a perfect foil for both Buchanan's nimble fingers and acutely soulful leads. The opening cover of Don Gibson's "Sweet Dreams" alternately shimmers and sears behind the band's nimble waltz. The languid and drawn-out "Down by the River" is nothing short of a seminal example of the riveting command that formed around Buchanan's solos. Of even greater value are the originals "Since You've Been Gone" and the truncated "The Messiah Will Come Again," which is joined in progress.

Back in the '60s, when every town in America seemed to have its own burgeoning music scene, Austin was strangely quiet.

Not much at all -- save for one group that all but dominated the scene from the late '60s to the early '70s. That group was the electric, country-fried psychedelic outfit known as Shiva's Headband. Leader, violinist, guitarist, and vocalist Spencer Perskin was (and still is) the quintessential Austin hippie, who not only lobbied for city-based cultural support for local artists but also put Austin on the world-wide music map with the release of Shiva's first major-label effort, Take Me to the Mountains on Capitol (the first ever major-label release by an Austin band). Back in the '60s, when every town in America seemed to have its own burgeoning music scene, Austin was strangely quiet.

Not much at all -- save for one group that all but dominated the scene from the late '60s to the early '70s. That group was the electric, country-fried psychedelic outfit known as Shiva's Headband. Leader, violinist, guitarist, and vocalist Spencer Perskin was (and still is) the quintessential Austin hippie, who not only lobbied for city-based cultural support for local artists but also put Austin on the world-wide music map with the release of Shiva's first major-label effort, Take Me to the Mountains on Capitol (the first ever major-label release by an Austin band). Harvey's merger with Tear Gas, a faltering rock band, was the smartest move of his career. With a heady mix of theatrics and driving rock, SAHB quickly made a name for themselves across England, releasing this album along the way. Harvey struts and yowls and gets raunchy (prefiguring the SAHBversion of "Delilah") while Zal Cleminson rips up the territory with some astounding guitar work. A great debut and a hell of a rock album.

In September, 1970 the band went into Electric Lady Studios in New York City to start recording their second album with famous engineer/producer Eddie Kramer at the helm. They were now signed with Warner Brothers, as Probe had folded, Kramer had worked with some of the top names in rock, such as Led Zeppelin and especially Jimi Hendrix, with whom Kramer had an extremely productive relationship. Going Back to Colorado was a great improvement over Zephyr being a more song-oriented and polished, while Zephyr offers more raw exposure to Tommy's guitar work.

Ellas McDaniel (aka Bo Diddley) was a true American original. He originated a rock beat that has been used by everyone from The Who, to Bruce Springsteen, to The Smiths, had a teenaged Marvin Gaye working as his valet, toured with The Clash, and was in a series of popular Nike commercials. Not to mention the fact that, oh yeah, he wrote and recorded some of the most important rock and roll music of the mid 20th-century. And that guitar, that iconic guitar, which is prominently featured on the cover of this classic 1962 LP. This is the first LP to feature his popular female rhythm guitarist sidekick, The Duchess, and while not featuring the chart-toppers of other release is a stunner of classic R&B influenced rock and roll that's essential for any Diddley fan.

Earth And Fire was formed by Dutch brothers Chris and Gerard Koerts on guitar and keys respectively. The first classic line-up featured vocalist Manuela Berloth, who was later replaced by Jerney Kaagman with her recognizable voice, and included bass player Hans Ziech and drummer Ton van der Kleij.

After becoming the supporting act for Barry Hay's The Golden Earrings a crucial time arrived in their career, the George Kooymans' written "Seasons" provided Earth And Fire with their first hit and an album filled with own work followed.

"Ruby Is The One", "Wild And Exciting", "Storm And Thunder" and "Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Tonight" and "Memories" were impressive and successful singles and cracked the Dutch Top 10. Following their philosophical lyrical albums they scored the biggest hit of their career with "Weekend" which not only scored big in the Netherlands but had similar results in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and other European countries. Next to the hits, there are a plethora of B side singles "Song Of The Marching Children", "Theme From Atlantis", the seven part "Excerpts From To The World Of The Future" and many more to be found on the double vinyl album.
