Formed in the late 1980’s at the dawn of acid house, The Grid released their first single ‘Floatation’ via Warners in 1990. It was instantly celebrated as a groundbreaking slice of ambient house, and soon became regarded as an all-time Ibiza Balearic classic.

The track featured in the cult documentary ‘A Short Film About Chilling’, and has been included on dozens of compilations since release, including Paul Oakenfold’s seminal Goa mix.

Fast forward to now. DJ Paul Woolford, a long-time fan of the track, steps into the studio and produces a 13 minute epic re-rub under his Special Request moniker, a widescreen soundscape for the dancefloor and the mind. “I had one of the best sessions in the studio ever”, he commented. The track is now set for release on deluxe 12” clear vinyl via new label Chemical Alley. A digital release with additional remixes will also follow.

The Grid went on to tour the globe, and had a run of ten UK chart singles, including the million selling ‘Swamp Thing’. They are currently in the studio working on brand new material, as well as a retrospective ‘Best Of’ album, including all their single releases, key remixes and deeper cuts.

The Grid are Dave Ball (Soft Cell) and musician and producer Richard Norris, also known for his work as Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve.

Abolition of the Royal Familia is 17th album from Alex Paterson and his rotating roster of collaborative cohorts. It forms part two of a pair, and a continuation No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds. It’s also the first with Paterson and Michael Rendall as main writing partners, with Rendall having risen-up-the-ranks from a member of The Orb’s touring band. The album features guest turns from Youth, Roger Eno, Steve Hillage, Miquette Giraudy, and a whole lot more.

The album is inspired by and in retrospective protest of the royal family’s historical endorsement of the East India Company’s opium trade, which was hugely damaging to India and caused two wars with China in the 18th and 19th centuries. Humour, samples,deep ambience, cerebral throbbing dub, classic house, the white island, hiphop, psych and heartbreakingly beautiful contemporary composition together with, perhaps less expectedly, a proudly pop element.

Hawk Kings is atribute to Steven Hawking, who told Paterson that he used to listen to The Orb when they met at a lecture. Paterson describes the track as “monster of a tune, in a similar mood to Assassin and Toxygene.

The new decade dawns with a message of love and hope from Balearic envoy Phil Mison and his fourth LP under the Cantoma moniker. Joined by old friends and new acquaintances, Señor Misono draws on a lifetime of record collecting, selection and songwriting to pack 'Into Daylight' with the essence of the Balearic movement, from the Café del Mar and beyond. Frequent flyer Quinn Lamont Luke touches down for the tender embrace of 'Back Into Daylight', lending his honeyed vocals to Phil's balmy pads and subtle guitar in a reminder to let go of the past and look towards a better future. Blink-and-you missed it 2018 single 'Verbana' follows on, serving quicksilver guitar between its polyrhythmic groove and breezy flute. Spanish vocals dub out into the distance, carrying the essence of the White Isle to wherever we may be; it is one world after all. In fact, 'Kasoto', appearing here in its original form for the first time, was committed to tape in Gambia with help from Advoms Skhaan. The twinkling keys and Jojo Mendy's spiritual vocals ride the low slung groove perfectly, leading us to a promised land of triumphant horns and ecstatic kora.

'Space For Us' sees the return of previous collaborator Suad Khalifa, whose soulful vocals join glassy keys, snaking bass and elegant organ for a soothing Balearic lullaby. It's a forgotten daydream of Antenna playing 'Riders On The Storm' brought to life with a carefree perfection. 'A Night At Après Midi' takes us to the midpoint with velveteen textures and the bright brass of 70s soul, balanced to perfection by airy flute and a fiddle carried over on the breeze from the Gypsy Camp. The second half opens with the decade's first great love song, 'Road Home'. Naive melodies and gentle woodblocks fuse Latin rhythms and Americana, allowing the space for David Philips to muse on the importance of the moment and parting's sweet sorrow. 'Solando' sees Phil set the mirror-ball to half time with a serious slow disco groove, forged out of Doobie Brothers rhythm guitar and shuffling percussion. Luna Astri's seductive bilingual vocals pour on the charm, melting our collective heart before Mr Mison caresses every drop of emotion from those flamenco flourishes.

From there we ride Route 1 down the coast on 'Another Place', keeping on eye on the blue Pacific as the sincere AOR melts into the sophisticated synth pop of 'Closer', a nocturnal romance driven by slinking clarinet, a shimmering arpeggio and another wonderful vocal contribution from Luna Astri. Finally, Phil plays us out with the loved up lilt of essential sundowner 'The Mountain', where Spanish sketches of a subtle body bring back those hazy afternoons in San Antonio.

It was time for us to make a move into the world of ambient new age music. Released only on cassette and CD in 1986, Paul & Mark made Quiet Water from a single guitar and a Yamaha DX synth.

Quiet Water consists of the amazing 'Summer Daydream' and 'Restful Sleep' that clocks in over 20 minutes. Cover is recreated from the original cassette and extended by hand painting by the original artist, Danny Flynn.

We recommend you put this on the turntable and just relax. Prepare for a musical journey. A journey that you probably never have been on before. We cannot recommend this release enough.

Following his versatile Alone With Everybody EP, FD returns to The North Quarter with a stunning 16 track debut album: Better Days.

Largely written in a three month window, FDs (real name Freddie Dixon) new long player on The NQ undoubtedly brings the best of the Zurich-based/London-born producer. Better Days is an album that delivers a rare synergy of drive, harmony between subtle & raw and just sheer fun. A versatile yet coherent project drawn from a large pool of sketches, finalised in intricate detail with focused studio dedication.

Drawing influences from Dub, Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul and the Mid 90's Drum & Bass “GoldenAge”, Better Days bridges the gap between genres, as FD enlists carefully considered vocal collaborations. Manchester donny Fox shines on the dubbed out Better Man and Washington DC soul diva Cecily shows shades of Minnie Riperton on Sycamore. Meanwhile Ribs is lifted to one of the album's stand out tracks with Maverick Soul on the keys and the enigmatic Issac Rosie on the boards.

For some the better days in life are in their childhood memories: nostalgia-infused wonderings of the mind to a care-free time without today's online distractions. Although FD’s debut album 'Better Days' is inspired and informed by a period earlier in life, his best days musically are definitely in the present. To put it into the man's own words:

"I’ve been wanting to do an album for quite a while now, but the circumstance never felt right. Once I started working with The North Quarter that all changed – it feels like being part of a team all pushing in the same direction, all supporting one another, all wanting to do the best for each other. Once we’d done the first EP together, for me, it was only a question of when."

in MUSAR's new limited Cassette Tape series, that focusing on producers edgy sides.
'Resa' finds Wiltshire sharing 11 sci-fi and futuristic ambient gems, blends melancholic
movements with rich layers of harmonics, resulting in a sequence of slowly unfurling tracks
that sounds brilliant first time around, but also reveal more intricate details once you've listened a few times.
Listening through from start to finish, where it comes on like a genuine soundtrack to a
melancholic, space film, it's an evocative musical journey that stirs the senses and toys with
your emotions.
Opener 'Barefoot Pilgrim' is a welcoming hazy warm-up atmospheric piece, together with
'Lumb' and 'In The Position' reflects on how Wiltshire maps human calm and tranquillity onto
the softer parts of the natural world, a place where everything sounds calm and peaceful, in
his own words: "I was using music composition for a creative release but mainly as a tool for
calming anxiety."
There are also intense ambient moments and post-IDM dreamscapes inside, such as - 'Dismantlers' and 'Denied', It is in turns icy, futuristic, introspective and blindingly picturesque.
'Other Fruits Resplit' is a particularly standout highlighted track of a sharp and catchy vocal
chop melody, while 'Same Thing Twice' and 'No Longer Concerning' are gorgeously melancholic.

Dragon Skin is a new conceptual compilation around the ideas of protection and safety released by Cønjuntø Vacíø that showcases new artists and some classic acts of the label.

Dragon Skin was a type of ballistic vest formerly made by the now defunct company Pinnacle Armor, currently produced in Missoula, Montana by North American Development Group LLC available for public, law-enforcement and military customers. Its characteristic two-inch-wide circular discs overlap like scale armor, creating a flexible vest that allows a good range of motion and is intended to absorb a high number of hits compared with other military body armor. The discs are composed of silicon carbide ceramic matrices and laminates, much like the larger ceramic plates in other types of bullet resistant vests.

On August 3, 2007, the Department of Justice announced that the NIJ had reviewed evidence provided by the body armor manufacturer and had determined that the evidence was insufficient to demonstrate that the body armor model would maintain its ballistic performance over its six-year declared warranty period. Because of this, Dragon Skin was found to not be in compliance with the NIJ’s testing program and has been removed from the NIJ’s list of bullet-resistant body armor models.

Almost 10 years after his last solo album, Matthew Puffett aka Future Beat Alliance makes a long-overdue return with new album Beginner's Mind. The deeply immersive nine-track album lands on 10th July 2020, The record is an invitation to "slow down, think mindfully and see more clearly”.

Over the course of a career that started in 1996, Matthew Puffett has taken great inspiration from Detroit futurism, mixed it up with his own UK perspective and become synonymous with soulful techno and electro that gazes off into the cosmos. His always emotive, melodic sounds have made for electrifying EPs and absorbing long players on esteemed labels like Tresor, Delsin, Versatile & Rush Hour, as well as self-releasing on his own Reward System imprint.

The last 10 years have seen Puffett working closely & collaborating on James Lavelle's UNKLE project. The resulting body of work includes co-writing and programming UNKLE`s 5th studio album, `The Road Part 1’, various film projects and advertising campaigns, and remixing a list of high profile artists. During this period UNKLE were winners of the MPG Remixer Of The Year award in 2016, 2018 & 2020. In the background, Matthew continued to make his own music and always looked to grow, evolve and infuse his sounds with new techniques and understanding. It was a collection of this music that eventually got crafted and shaped into new album Beginner's Mind, which comes just after a new 12" for R&S which hit the shelves on 13th March & features a remix from Afriqua.

Beginner's Mind, Puffett`s most cohesive record to date, is a soothing, escapist listen in these uncertain times & will slow the minds and swell the hearts of all who hear it.

The third long player on Night Defined Recordings sees SUED affiliate SW. presenting his new mini LP ‘Night’ and walking a tightrope between jazz and club music. The tracks manifest and dematerialize themselves almost in a non-tangible and floating way, which can be seen as more than just a musical approach but rather shows the artist referring to issues of volatility and evanescence. While listening, some may find themselves in the dark and dusty atmosphere of a jazz club, where the band in the corner at the other end of the room is playing their instruments just when the beat kicks in and puts you right into the club atmosphere.

Three years after the release of Adrift, Ebauche (aka Alex Leonard) returns with a beautiful new ambient LP. It is inspired by a strange disconnected dream during a long cross-country journey through Poland in the depths of winter in 2014. Mutable reflects the rhythms of that journey and the ethereal dreamscape which enveloped him.

Each track on Mutable pulsates and wraps around itself, gradually evolving its soundscape and encasing the listener in a deep and rewarding world. There is careful exploration of polyrhythmic variations within juxtaposed morphing drones bubbling out from stacks of synthesizers. The pieces are densely layered with fine detail, often only revealed on repeated listens, and are subtly backed by field recordings from locations around Poland.

Chwiać opens the album with scintillating polyrhythms and pulsating bass tones; continuously folding in on itself teasing elements in and out of our awareness. Zmienny evolves gently over its 11 minutes, voices skittering in the background whilst synths, horns and strings grow, waver, and vacillate. Rozwijać is a lovingly constructed soundscape full of warmth and gentle tones which lull the listener to serenity as the album closes.

Each piece on the album is accompanied by a unique painting created by Polish artist Adrianna Snochowska. The paintings are 50 x 35 cm mixed media (texture & oil paint) on canvas. Adrianna spent many hours listening to the draft mixes whilst creating these paintings and moulded the texture effects to the sounds on each track.

Additionally, long-time producer Arovane has provided a remix of Chwiać which is included on the release. The remix picks up on Chwiać's pulsing polyrhythms and wraps them in layers of gritty distortion and subtle melodic nuances, underpinned by driving beats.

Currently based in Berlin, Germany, Alex Leonard's last release as Ebauche was in 2015, titled Adrift, was listed in Ambient Music Guide's best albums of 2015 and received a glowing review from Hypnagogue.

I listened to it day and night, in Tokyo's subway, walking across the busy streets and empty avenues. Sitting on the pavement in front of a konbini, a can of whisky-perrier in hand. On the plane, amidst the opaque grey clouds. And at the temple - humid mountainous scapes and dry wood.

In Japan the sun sets earlier, and the warmth of the day lasts a little longer, so it fades more smoothly into the night.

Aesthetically and musically speaking, it makes you want to dance the ‘JIVZ’, somewhat inebriated, a little too early in the afternoon, as if it were too late already, with nylon-bodies, bulging booties but the shoulders cumbersome, as the notes of 'HDV' play along.

Then, at first slow and wobbling, you hit the road onto some warm and cramped nocturnal destination. Preferably serving sake and broiled foods, 'D1V4G' on my mind.

Recall Eno through the volutes of 'M45C4R4D3'. And 'QYURKY RUQ' in Cutty Ranks' live and its lo-fi riddim.

The impression of being an airwave lost in between two AM frequencies, in the near-quiet of this interstice - 'D41N7Y 5QU4R3'.

Then you open an eye, look to your left, the body buried under a plaid, the pendulum of the big wooden clock has lost the pace, 'In Transit Across The Uni', and you can't help but think these ebony and solid oak monsters sitting in the living room once were that incredibly hi-tech cupboard in an ancient home. Giant mechanism, in the heart of the house. Watches and proportions. You close your eyes.

I figure myself the creature from the cover dancing an elastic dance, when comes the last of the 'JIVE ED' - its limbs suddenly zoomed-in, stretching out like chewing-gum seen from a disproportionate perspective, retracting just as quickly. Something that would fit the beach scene from Funky Forest like a glove, or the one of the animated short's screening.

Only frustration, the hope for a stronger, lastingly groovy and cheerful 'LYFSPAN’.

Undivided, unified, the overwhelming sense of oneness. Feeling and experiencing this was her strongest desire since the departure, a deep longing. Walking back to base, she knew this had been obtained, it was clear and ran through her like water. Though she did not feel complete, she did not feel intergrated or a part of the whole, as it were. The collective 'one' disected, distributed and proliferated without her. Did she feel spaciousness or emptiness?

1-800 Girls makes his debut on Shall Not Fade sister imprint Lost Palms with the dreamy, feel good ‘Dancing For You’ EP.

The first collaboration between frequent Past Inside the Present contributor Slow Dancing Society (both as an artist and in-house engineer for other PITP releases) and the label's founder zake, present 'Mirrored'; a wonderful meditative exploration of glacial drones, atmospheric hum, and touches of restrained ambient techno.

Mirrored is a quietly powerful, contemplative album with a beautiful stillness at its center. Layered dronescopes are intertwined with murmuring electronic rhythms, hypnotic bass, and the occasional pneumatic beat resulting in a collection of pieces that radiates a glowing warmth.

Following last year’s often praised “EMU” Electro Music Union, Sinoesin & Xonox Works compilation, Cold Blow is unearthing more Metatone affiliated material from the formative years of British techno. The EP is, for the most part, unreleased and unheard music circa 1994 by Kieran Warren aka Atonal. It appropriately bridges the 27-year gap in output by headlining the release with the only previously released track, “Cithare”, which featured on a Metatone Recordings compilation as a teaser of what was to be his solo release on the same label. The planned debut never saw the light of day due to sudden folding of the label but fortunately, a lot of the material Kieran produced survived on archived DAT tapes.
Clearly not immune to the influences of its era, considering the music was produced in the first five years of the ‘90s, there is still plenty of originality to be found. While the title track conjures up the melodic patterns of Selected Ambient Works married with the rawness of Universal Indicator, the rest of the EP takes a more broken beat approach. “Malago” and “Cluster” send us floating into dimensional space with ethereal pads harnessed with rolling breaks. As if almost an antithesis of its title, “Northern Soul” takes us to a more sinister direction which sounds like Mike Paradinas after a particularly rough ragga evening. The EP closes with a heartwarming drumless vignette that is “Saw Her Yesterday”, perhaps giving us clues of things to come. After all, the label has announced that a full-length album drawing from the same tape archives is expected later in the year.
A must have for the fans of early Aphex Twin.

Records with a brand new album 'Images.'

Since his last album
'Changes' released in 2015 Synkro has been exploring more ambient influences
and introducing new studio techniques.à
'Images' is heavily inspired by the 80s-90s new age/ambient movement and
artists such as Andreas Vollenweider, Jon Hassel & Marc Barreca (as well as
some Japanese ambient techno influences such as Susumu Yokota & Ken Ishii's
early work), most of the music uses a full analogue set up, moving further away
from McBride's earlier sample-based work.

Following a long trip to
Japan, McBride became "addicted" to vintage synths, and returned to
his studio in Derbyshire to write the album. The twelve-track long player still
contains his trademark rural soundscapes suspended in a rich seam of hooks and
emotive synth arrangements but this time with focus on more weightless, looming
melodies that extend throughout the album.

Vesa-Matti Kivioja has been making waves as an integral part of the multi-faceted Ljudverket & Meltdown Deejays crews in his native Finland for many years. His productions merge 80's ambient & library stylings with John Hassell-esque soundscaping, live percussions and vintage drum-computer programming drenched in fathoms deep kaleidoscopic dubbing and mixing. This particular EP is all of the above, the sound of rural Western Finland thawing after the hard-bitten winter months, each track inspired by Kivioja's fascination with various species of lizard, hence the EP & track titles.

The Portuguese say that ‘saudade’, the emotional state of nostalgia and the emotional thrills it can trigger, is an extremely powerful thing. It’s certainly hit Tom Trago hard in recent times, with the Dutch producer naming his new self- released single – his first since 2017 – after this distinctively warm and fuzzy heightened emotional state.

Trago’s nostalgia pangs were a direct response to his new life on the Netherlands’ North Sea-facing West Coast, a move that provided the musical inspiration for his 2018 album “Bergen”. While happy in his new home studio, Trago found his mind wandering back to countless happy days and nights spent jamming with friends and contemporaries in his basement studio beneath Volkshotel in Amsterdam.

“Saudade”, Trago’s latest single, was made during one of those all-night Amsterdam studio sessions alongside JP Enfant, a DJ/producer best known for his residency at De School and releases on his LET Recordings. The A- side “Main Mix” fizzes with excitement and the possibilities of the night ahead. Sentimental, emotion-stirring chords, lilting lead lines, chiming melodies and ecstatic electronics rise above a chunky, hot-stepping drum machine rhythm. It’s nostalgic but immediate: a musical marriage of two giddy producers living for the moment.

On the flip you’ll find the “Ambient Mix” set to soundtrack slow-burn sunrises the world over. All immersive synthesizer chords, yearning musical motifs and seductive melodies, it sees Trago delivering a suitably tactile and loved-up soundtrack with which to usher in the dawn of a new day.

One of the all-time fantastic masterpieces of tribal ambient, an absolute must-own for any fan of the genre. Peyote is a musical trip well worth taking.

O Yuki Conjugate (OYC) are an English post-industrial/ambient musical group founded in 1982 in Nottingham by Roger Horberry and Andrew Hulme and still - intermittently - active today. Originally inspired by the spirit and sound of post-punk, they soon started pioneering their own brand of ambient at a time (early 80s) when few people were interested in such a low-key approach. Their music has been variously described as 'ambient', 'fourth world', 'ethnic', 'tribal' and 'dark wave'; the band prefer to call it 'dirty ambient'.

Exhausted Modern joins the Artificial Horizon family and delivers a caustic mix of brutish and combustible electronix in keeping with the style that has seen his productions supported by the new wave of artists from Europe and beyond that seek to bring the future sounds of Acid, EBM and Techno to the present. From the contorted modulations of Dysphoric Experience to the emotional and melancholic closer ’Seagulls in a Harbour’, Exhausted Modern’s Datura EP twists and turns at every step, each track capable of sending any listener into certain frenzy.

Nikolajev is a Tallinn, Estonia based producer, DJ, half of Dima-Disk with Ragnar Rahouja and co-founder of the club Kauplus Aasia and the now legendary Lekker before that.

His 'LEL' EP on Incienso is a diverse four tracker containing many moods and styles - All recorded live in single takes. From the Devo-meets-Deep-Disco shuffle of 'Plasticine', to 'Left', a song from an alternate universe where 80's movies were scored by Bunker Records - and the sweeping ambient passages that bookend them, 'Lumipoly' and '12 AM Monday' - This is an EP filled raw emotion, for raw people,
everywhere.

Hamburg-based Love-Songs’ newest output Nicht Nicht continues the band ́s striving to mesh defined grids with improvisatory snapshots to create their very own take on organic electronica. Since 2012, the electro-acoustic trio were able to explore the possibilities of their free-flowing interplay through the course of several EPs and the mini-album ‘Inselbegabung’, which was released on Kame House.

Well, it has more than a little to do with mastering magician Sergey Luginin, whose eagle-ears and technical know how have been a part of the process since GBR002. For the latest Glowing Pin powerplay, our man in Moscow joins some close friends on the other side of the console, letting the creative juices flow for ‘Four Amazing Tracks’. Luring Simple Symmetry brothers Sasha & Sergey and DJ & photographer Ivan Pustovalov into his studio with the promise of an afternoon stroll through the nearby Elk Forest, Sergey set the circuitry in motion and the quartet got lost in music. What begin with a plan for some simple edits and a woodland walk quickly became a full scale studio throw down, reimagining forgotten favourites amid a multi-instrumental stew of propulsive polyrhythms, low slung bass, cosmic synths and frazzled guitars. There’s techno-tribal hypnosis on the mind bending, brain blending A1, poetic post punk on the angular, janglier A2, outrageous Afro-cosmic on the freaky Floyd-in-Lagos B1 and languid ambience on the lysergic lullaby which closes the set. Recorded as they worked and presented in chronological order, this EP is a triumph of inspiration over perspiration - a snapshot of a moment which will last forever.

Apollo are delighted to welcome the return of Australia duo Albrecht
La’Brooy AKA Sean La'Brooy and Alex Albrecht with their blissful new
album 'Healesville' recorded in a mud-brick hut on a strawberry crop in the
Melbourne countryside. 'Healesville' follows on from the bucolic wonder of
their Apollo debut 'Tidal River' which took inspiration from the duo's visit to
the beautiful Wilson's Promontory (a remote national park on the South
East coast of Australia). "Late last year, we trekked out to a beautiful mudbrick studio located next to a large strawberry crop in Healesville," Albrecht
explains. "We spent a few days capturing the feeling of the slow-paced,
relaxed surrounds: The wildlife, the strawberry pickers, the sounds of the
night, and improvising a response to them with music we felt suited."
Setting up their favoured musical equipment, which included two pianos, a
Waldorf, a Nord and a clutch of microphones the long-form improvisations
began. "The physical construct of the hut imparted a warm and acoustically
interesting environment to record in," Alex explains. "It also allowed us to be
as close to the strawberry crop itself - we positioned a mic out the window
to capture the recordings of the sound outside. During one of the sessions,
a harvest was taking place, and you can hear tractors passing and workers
talking and laughing in the recording. The resulting drowsy pieces were
completely improvised (augmented by percussionist Joseph Batrouney,
guitarist Carla Oliver (Badskin) and guitarist Oliver Patterson), freeform
recordings that explores themes of relaxation, sleep and dreams;
somnambulant piano figures are caressed with delicate guitar passages
bathed in the bucolic field recordings of the Healesville environs. Recording
the album proved to be as relaxing and civilised a process as listening to it:
"We cooked nice dinners, enjoyed good wines, and took plenty of walks
through the landscape to break up the sessions," Alex shares. The resulting
record is one of quietly sozzled majesty - a delicate fusion of ambient
electronic textures, live instrumentation and field recordings that beguiles
and soothes the listener in these troubled times. — Recorded live at Earth

Hendrik Weber aka Pantha Du Prince (‘a fantasy character...a poetic transporter for the concept behind the music’) has carved a niche for a style of techno he calls, ‘layered and cinematographic.’ He released the Diamond Daze (2004) and This Bliss (2007) albums on Berlin dance label Dial before signing to Rough Trade and widening his audience with Black Noise (2010) and The Element of Light (2013).

On “Conference of Trees”, Pantha Du Prince explores the communication of trees and creates a sound concept based on it. What we experience here is a break through recording of experimental music, visual poetry, club culture and speculative science.

Newly reworked selected classics by the 2020 line-up of the legendary pioneers of electronica and ambient. Including “Phaedra”, “Stratosfear”, “Tangram” and “Yellowstone Park”. Tangerine Dream have been a fundamental influence on electronic music since Edgar Froese founded the band in West Berlin, 1967. Providing the groundwork for multiple electronic music genres including ambient and electronica, inspiring musicians and other art forms, from The Future Sound of London to Porcupine Tree, the widely popular TV show ‘Stranger Things’ (for which their music also featured in) to seminal video game ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (for which they helped to write the soundtrack). The group have also received seven Grammy
nominations, written over 100 studio albums and were led by Froese, who developed an instantly recognisable synth-based instrumental music based on a meditative musical experience that came to prominence in the 70’s and 80’s. Fast-forward to the present day, when popular culture is rediscovering synthesizers and sequencers, and Tangerine Dream are in the mix of an exciting time for an evolving electronic music scene. Modern Tangerine Dream has seen the beginning of ‘The Quantum Years’, which began as a concept and series of musical sketches by Froese before he passed away in 2015. Remaining band members Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane worked together to realize Edgar’s visions and
expectations of a conceptual body of work that attempts to translate quantum philosophy into music. The new direction led to the 2017 album ‘Quantum Gate’, which was described by The Guardian as their “most interesting release in years.” With ‘Recurring Dreams’, the new generation of Tangerine Dream pay homage to the band’s timeless beginnings with captivating and emotional renditions of selected classics, such as “Phaedra”, “Stratosfear”, “Tangram” and “Yellowstone Park”. These new recordings are not just re-recorded covers but heartfelt and individual interpretations, featuring all generations of synths and sequencers, added layers and new arrangements, applying Froese’s new quantum dream to these highly influential tracks.

It blends itself with the archaic tunes of mankind’s cumulative musical history and in this very context believes that “everything comes from the east”. He uses electronic music to carry the old vibes he grew up with to the dance floor, transforming irregular local rhythms into 4/4 electronic beats. Since 2011 he has been making both DJ sets and live performances, and since 2015 he focused to perform mostly as live shows Ex Nihilo (Latin “out of nothing”) It’s and immersive experience where digital art and music collides. A melodic Story told by Safak Ozkutle aka Oceanvs Orientalis through his first thematic album which tells 10 different stories of 10 breaking points of the Universal history, from the Planetary scale to the Human dimensions. Beginning right from the first point of creation, the big bang in title track ‘Ex Nihilo’, Oceanvs travels through the timeline that in turn saw the evolution of our planet and universe as it is today, whilst touching briefly on where we may end in the future. SONG OF THE CREATIONPERFORMANCE The Ex Nihilo Show is planned to be performed by a 17-piece small orchestra. This orchestra will be consisted of strings, brass, a small choir and percussions, and will be led by a conductor.

Apollo Records present a masterpiece of ambience and beyond - 'Calypso' - the stunning new album by Venetian maestro.
The LP is inspired by the mythical Greek island of Ogygia and its alleged real life counterpart Gavdos - also known unofficially as Calypso - a place of extreme beauty, which upon visiting had a profound effect on the musician.
"Gavdos gives you profound sensations in every corner, as here you can find enchantment, mystery, the getting lost to forget, to erase and drown the memories in a light and salty water. A place new and ancient, between cedars that have seen exiles, pestilences, blood and desperation, isolation and abandonment, it's the absolute of a life that every heart in love seeks, desperately, in the arms of Calypso, divine among the goddesses. For their next release Kontrapunkt goes deeper into the realm of experimentation. It reaches from neo
trance techno tracks to some spiritual influenced tribal tracks. There will be discoveries in the breaks
area as well. And in the end it is all about how rough techno can sound today

Improvisation is the core of Bugge Wesseltoft's and Henrik Schwarz's collaboration. Technology and the joy of playing often meet and beautiful creations are formed somewhere between machine and human, balancing like a mobile delicately around a centre. For "In Spite Of Everything" the duo plays on two opposite grand pianos. One is driven by Wesseltoft's emotional piano playing and the second is a so-called player piano, in which the keys are driven by motors and which Schwarz controls in real time with a computer program written especially for this piece. The program is highly reactive and sensitive, creating a sparkling piano duet of pulsating energy and wild dynamics.
