Too Slow To Disco regulars will remember Vibes4YourSoul’s name
from his standout remix for L’impératrice on last years “TSTD – En
France” compilation. He is one of the edit-producers that specialized
in those slow jams and mid tempo tracks on the record. With a lot of
SOUL, Vibes4YourSoul (aka V4YS) is a French DJ and producer who
blends elements of disco, rare groove, Afro-Latin and soulful Indie together with the deeper edge of contemporary House and Nu Disco sounds. The four reworks on this Double 7" reflect all these styles, held together by Vibes4YourSoul’s lush, mellow and funky production

Last year Into The Light delved deep into the unreleased archives of Free Level, a collaborative project between Greek composers George Theodorakis and the late Petros Skoutaris. Now the label presents a blissfully sunny and gorgeously life-affirming EP of rare solo tracks from Skoutaris that were recently discovered on a forgotten CD-R.

Petros Skoutaris first rose to prominence in 1981 when the band he formed, new wave and ska fusionists Sharp Ties, sold 50,000 copies of their debut album "Get That Beat" on the back of the title track becoming a hit single all over Europe. A year later he quit the band, re-emerging in 1984 as the co-owner of now legendary Athens nightclub "Graffiti''. Up until his unexpected death in 2004, Skoutaris appeared as a guest guitarist on a wide range of records – Pavlos Sidiropoulos' classic album "Zorba The Freak" included, while also pursuing collaborative projects such as 667, Dubient and Free Level.

The tracks featured on this posthumous solo release were recorded in 2000 and were originally intended to appear on an album that never materialized. They offer a neat snapshot of Skoutaris' chameleon-like musical nature and the layered melodic intricacy of his trademark guitar playing. This latter feature is particularly evident on "Tropika", a dreamy but up-tempo affair that sits somewhere between Pat Metheny's breeziest moments and mid-1980s alternative synth-pop, and the becalmed, Flamenco-influenced sunset bliss of "Attica".

Skoutaris' life-long love affair with reggae culture comes to the fore on the two-part "Yusurum", an epic journey through off-kilter, low-slung NYC dub-funk heavily influenced by the work of Bill Laswell. Like the latter's work as Material, both versions of "Yusurum" incorporate extensive use of Indian style percussion and instrumentation, as well as hallucinatory effects and some of the warmest, weightiest bass known to humankind. It's a mind-altering trip from an overlooked, little-known Greek master!

Golden Days is the late completion of Ethimm’s EP trilogy on Light of Other Days and it continues exactly where the group left off 4 years ago. What started as the groups signature „tension music“, oscillating between dark repetition and moody improvisations is slowly morphing into a production style that features a heavy pop sensibility infused with conciliatory optimism.

The opener and title track of the EP recounts the meeting of a new lover in an autumn sunset. Starting with dreamy piano chords, a rhythmic bass and handclaps, it provides a beautiful musical backdrop for Tizi’s longing voice. During the course of the track, modulating synths and plucked guitars join her vocals as she sings about the „Golden Days“ spent with her lover.

Over & Out starts off in typical Ethimm fashion. Dubbed guitars, minimal beats and a sparse piano melody sets the tone for Elisabeth Thimm’s fragile vocal. In Over & Out Elisabeth negotiates her wish for freedom and how she breaks with her daily constraints. Albeit initially being drained in melancholy, the track ends on a musically hopeful note when a beautiful chord progression suddenly appears, colliding with an extended synth solo from outer space.
On Echoes in the Distance, glorious arpeggios accompany a sophisticated 303-style bass line and haunting vocals. The track follows one of Elisabeth’s dreams into a frantic, nondescript, deserted backdrop and slowly morphes into the most ecstatic piece of the EP. The multi-layered arrangement combined with Ethimm’s yearning voice on top, sound like about 3 tracks seamlessly sticked together. The track ends in pure ecstasy and the listener is left with the exciting feeling of wanting more.

The EPs finale is made up of the hopeful and minimalistic Day by Day, a track reminiscent of the balearic pop from the 1980ies. Gracefully and drained in beachside sunshine, Ethimm reminds us not to waste our days with unnecessary actions and focus on the beautiful small things in life.

This release is LP and it's individually 300 hand-numbered limited edition. The first 100 copies are pressed on WHITE & GREEN MARBLED vinyls (AR016).

Roy Comanchero (Running Back, Japan) 'Moon Hike' welcomes us to Kansai International Airport, where the local time is shortly after midnight. It's gradual, introspective pulse rejuvenates the listener after a long trip and prepares you for the night ahead. Before Christ is a new project from Craig Christon and Bonar Bradberry. Remix maestros Mushrooms Project take on both tracks. First up Barry's K is a moody brooding chuggy basement Jam with ethnic melody and dubby effects. The mighty Italians mellow out the groove and extend adding all there trademarks touches.Uh!. The second track is Tuesday Club is a techy machine funk bomb with shades of New Beat and a nod to Forgemasters. The Mushrooms boys bring the acid and soft melodic pads turning this into a dreamy heads down groover.

Emotional Rescue again delves in the world of private pressings, with a reissue of British electronic pop meets proto-House duo 4AM. With copies of their self titled album now highly sought after, this timely reissue presents two of their songs as a stand alone 7".

Consisting of multi-instrumentalist Steve Kirby - piano, guitar, bass, programming - and vocalist Kevin Finch, 4AM came together after youths filled with a love of music. Following a string of band attempts, Steve dived in to the world of midi, allowing him to build a studio set up and play solo. A meeting with new work colleague Kevin quickly developed to joining forces to expand on his early demos.

Their melodic, dance-influenced pop draws on a love of Japan, OMD and The The, but also ECM jazz and a touch of "white boy soul". The TR-808 drum and hi-hats, string stabs and random acid squelches - although no TR-303 was used - highlights the influence the nascent House sounds emanating from the "second summer of love" of 1988 / 89 had in their music melting pot.

Over this, personal lyrics flow, full of honest emotions and a touch of youthful naivety thrown in - of relationships, love, sex and passions. Intended as a personal artifact, the original album was released in 1990 with no promotion or live shows and has taken until now, some 30 years, to find a cult audience. I want you with a Passion.

The Amsterdam based Modern Obscure Music label launches a new sub-division named MOMArchives. MOMArchives is a reissue label that will focus on electronic music. All releases will be available on vinyl and also digitally.

The first release is Neocrystal by Japanese producer Yoshihiro Sawasaki. It is a fantastic slice of mid 90s Japanese Ambient Techno that needs to be heard by a larger audience. Yoshihiro Sawasaki is a Kyoto based producer who has released music under aliases such as Naturally Gushing and Doctor YS & the Cosmic Drunkards on labels like Sublime Records, Apollo Records and V2. Neocrystal was originally released on Sublime Records back in 1994. Sublime Records is an important label in the history of Japanese electronic music. The imprint has released music by domestic artists such as Susumu Yokota and Ken Ishii, as well as foreign talent such as Global Communications. The B Side to Neocrystal is Magic Dome. This was licensed to Dave Angel’s instalment of the legendary X-Mix series on Studio K7!

The first MOMArchives release begins with the ‘On The Beach’ mix of Neocrystal. It is a dreamy ambient track with gorgeous key washes and reverberating synthetics. It is followed by Magic Dome, a spacey keyed cut with bright synth play, subtle percussion and hypnotic key work. This is a wonderful archive release from Yoshihiro Sawasaki and it is a great start for MOMArchives.

DJ Raff’s creative sampling and ability to seamlessly blend hypnotic beats with traditional Chilean and Latin sounds have earned him a place among Latin America’s most highly regarded DJs and producers. From beat-making at 12 years old to being an architect of the flourishing Chilean Hip Hop scene, despite the success his hip-hop productions, DJ Raff wanted to convey a message without the need for lyrics and so his journey into producing electronic music began in the early 2000’s. Over the years he has played his distinct sounds at events such as Sonar, Mutek, Lolapalooza, mentored at RBMA Bass Academy in Chile and had his ‘Latino & Proud’ track used as the theme tune on Comedy Central’s award winning series ‘Broad City’ and much more.

DJ Raff's ‘Resistencia EP’ won strong support by tastemakers like Tom Ravenscroft on BBC 6 Music who called it “…his best record ever” and as well as interviewing DJ Raff he also featured a guest mix on his show. Further support included Worldwide FM as ‘Resistencia’ was selected as one of ‘This Week’s Essential Tracks’ and featured in Resident Advisor’s ‘New Tracks’.

Dj Raff has kept busy since then making appearances or guest mixing on Soho Radio, Red Bull Radio, Le Mellotron and Reprezent. A 15 date Latin America ‘Resistencia’ tour ensued taking in Lollapalooza (Chile) where he played before the remarkable Nicola Cruz (who has listed DJ Raff’s music as an influence in the formation of his own outlook). Back in the UK he was invited to play The Great Escape as well as a series of events performing one off experiments in sound and collaborations with fine artists at Casa Festival.

Big In Japan are now putting out the DJ Raff’s ‘Resistencia Remixes’ EP with some heavy hitters on board. Out on Nov 29th on digital as well as a 12” vinyl with both originals and remixes too.

Hot off the heels of releasing their latest album Peruvian duo Dengue Dengue Dengue take the reins on remixing title track ‘Resistencia’ and focusing on the drums and bass they have turned it into a heavy 1:56am hypnotic banger. We were at Phonox in Brixton when they played it at 1:56am and the drop was met with cheers and whoops… tried and tested!

All round incredible talent El Buho, renowned for his beautifully textured production blending Latin sounds with electronic beats, has given ‘Memoria’ a bouncing bassline, shuffling beat and textured with strings results in an infectious track you can’t help but move to.

Argentinian producer Kaleema (who has previously worked with Chancha Via Circuito) played a version of her DJ Raff remix on a live session at Worldwide FM earlier this year. She has taken ‘Mundo Paralello’ and with added synths and strings turned it into a down-tempo dreamscape.

To celebrate the release of the remix EP and the new vinyl package, DJ Raff will playing Folcore in Hackney, London on Nov 29th. This is the first in the new The Fifth Sun series of events hosted by Papaoul from Worldwide FM and Movimeintos focusing on alternative electronic music from Latin America for the dancefloor.

At a time where protests are happening all across the globe, and most recently in DJ Raff's home country of Chile, Resistence is still needed.

Mothball Record presents the first collaboration between Hysteric (Public Possession, Fuego International, Bordello A Parigi) and the prolific Shelter (from Plaisir Partagé and International Feel), who are now working together as H&S. Both known for their edit skills and obscure taste, they now bring us dark balearic versions of two underground Italo killers. With strong new beat influences, and two versions of each track for added flexibility, this record can fit easily in different sets.

Over the years Argentinian duo Klik and Frik have taken the bubbling Latin electronic scene to deeper levels and in the process garnered support from the likes of Vice, Billboard, Red Bull as well as sharing line ups with Squarepusher, The Orb, Nina Kraviz, Detroit Swindle and more. Their debut album was released in 2017 and featured friends Nicola Cruz, Chancha Via Circuito and Mohanad Zohair. But it is impossible to talk about Klik & Frik without first delving into their origins as the explosive Frikstailers. The Frikstailers (pronounced freak-stylers), composed of duo Rafa Caivano and Lisandro Sona, exploded onto the scene in 2006 by turning the who electro-cumbia genre on its head. Fusing cumbia with dancehall, hip hop and electronic beats they took tropical to extraterrestrial levels and tore up unsuspecting dancefloors across the world. Their unique style has seen them put out remixes on DFA Records, Young Turks/XL Recordings, Mad Decent (Hold The Line Cumbia style anyone?) and included on Modeselektor’s ‘Modeselektion Vol 2’. They have played sessions on KEXP, Boiler Room and NPR and their debut album caught the attention of XLR8R and more. But during their journey as Frikstailers, Rafa and Lisandro found they were maturing in their ideas, sounds and productions. They needed a musical outlet that enabled them to showcase more subtle and textured sounds for the dancefloor that weren’t just upbeat bangers. They wanted to go deeper. In 2013 they were invited to play Mutek Mexico on the Red Bull Music Academy stage and so they began making new music. They explored indigenous sounds (which at the time had been largely ignored) and started to blend them with deeper electronic production. The resulting hypnotic, ritualistic and meditative blends were debuted at Mutek Mexico under their new moniker Klik & Frik. With rich layers of electronic synthesizers and groove boxes the Refugio EP has a unique approach to the ancestral influences of South America. From the bass propelling opener Achalay (meaning How Beautiful) textured with glitches and synths, to the quenacho flute and hypnotic beat on Refugio (Refuge), to the piano on La Puna Satie inspired by French composer Erik Satie, and the euphoric Las Penas, the EP is a deep and meditative melding of influences. The traditional quenacho and pinkullo flutes feature across the tracks as a tribute to the indigenous music and mysticism of Argentina. The Refugio EP is a reflection on the need for human connection, refuge and a noble reasons to keep going at a time when the world is burning both politically and literally

London based experimental producer and composer "Leifur James" announces his return with news of a six date EU tour and the release ‘Wise Old Man’. The first single taken from his highly anticipated second album ‘Angel in Disguise’, which is due for release on the
24th April 2020 via "Night Time Stories" - Sister label to the coveted ‘LateNightTales’.

Driving, melancholic electronica, ‘Wise Old Man’ is a nod to what can be expected of James’ second album, Angel In Disguise, showcasing a more experimental side to his production. Traversing through musicality, progressive synths and introspection, this first single unveils the producer’s distinct sound with disorientated vocals; speaking of the interplay between reason and emotion, the lyrics repeat “Wise old man in my brain, soul bursting through my veins”, opening the gates to this captivating electronically steered opus.

This news comes after an incredible few years for the artist. In 2018 saw James release his esteemed debut album A Louder Silence on Night Time Stories and follow up remix EP that championed upcoming electronic talent including Bruce, FaltyDL and Whities producer, Coby Sey, on rework duties; projects which captured the attention of key tastemakers including Resident Advisor, Pitchfork, Mixmag, Electronic Sound and Future Music UK.

An aesthetically driven artist dedicated to marrying powerful visual backdrops with sonic explorations, James teamed up with Hungarian director, Balázs Simon; producing the critically acclaimed, ‘Wurlitzer’ project which saw widespread support from the likes of Boiler Room, CLASH, Directors’ Notes, Motionographer, the UK and Berlin Music Video Awards, the London Short Film Festival, Dublin International Film Festival and more.

Angel In Disguise promises to explore the themes of love and loss through a masterful blend of harmonic vocals from James himself, nuanced electronic soundscapes and vibrant percussion -
punctuated by bespoke visuals, directed by Balázs Simon.

This exciting project is expected to make waves and see James
step up, exhibiting his discerning ear and painstakingly honed production craft on aseminal label.

Hot on the heels of the smash "Things You Do For Love" seven inch.

When Claremont 56’s first compilation series, “Originals”, came to an end in 2013, Paul “Mudd” Murphy decided not to replace it, choosing instead to pour his energy into promoting albums and singles from the label’s growing family of artists. Six successful years later, Murphy has had a change of heart and decided to inaugurate a brand new compilation series, “Claremont Editions”.

This time round, the focus won’t be rare and obsure cuts selected by DJs, but rather new, unheard and overlooked recent material from label stalwarts, new artists and friends Murphy has made along the way. The first volume of “Claremont Editions” is naturally rather special, offering a vibrant and colourful trip through Claremont 56’s distinctively warm, sun-kissed and emotion rich sound. As befits a compilation that will be desired by DJs and sofa-bound listeners alike, Murphy has selected a mixture of dancefloor-friendly workouts and hazy, horizontal fare. The compilation kicks off with something rather special: a chugging, mind-altering late night cover of Eagles classic’ “These Shoes” by Angel Spells, an all-star collective featuring 40 Thieves’ Layne Fox on production, David Harks on vocals and Jack Cutter on guitar. The results are trippy, hypnotic, mind-altering and alluring: a 21st century West Coast voyage that never loses sight of its 1970s roots.

It’s followed on side A by another stellar cover: a jazzy and breezy disco-reggae version of Hall & Oates’ classic “I Can’t Go For That” by HF International. The version here is Kaoru Inoue’s “disco dub”, which does a great job in showcasing the eyes-closed guitar solos provided by guest musician Kashif. Completing record one is an absolute epic from German krautrock combo Fursattl, who return to Claremont 56 after a seven-year hiatus. The Frank Mollena-helmed outfit offers up “Leerlauf”, an 11-minute journey through heavy punk-funk grooves, Stereolab synths, backwards guitars and constantly building percussive energy. Like their previous 12” on the label, it’s staggeringly good.

Hear & Now kick off with record two with “Alba Sol”, an undeniably gorgeous, sun-baked trip that recalls the lazy, slow motion beauty of their 2018 debut album “Aurora Baleare”, before Murphy transports us back to Japan and the quirky trip-hop-pop of new signing Yamp Kolt’s languid and groovy “Fuyu No Ne”, featuring the blissful vocals of Karin Miyagi. To round things off on side four, Murphy has reached for previously unreleased cuts from the label’s vaults. First Essex trio Statues doff a cap to Pink Floyd on the lazy, multi-coloured trip that is “Heaven Fades” – nine minutes of softly spun grooves, dreamy vocals, toasty Rhodes riffs and David Gilmour guitars – before Murphy dusts down a previously unheard track by the late, great U-She and Holgar Czukay.

The cut in question, “Longing”, offers a stunning – if poignant – conclusion. Low-slung, atmospheric, eccentric and lusciously string-laden, the track was recorded by the husband-and-wife duo some years ago and was intended to form part of an album called “Second Life Identity”; here it provides a stirring, breathtaking finale to the first installment of “Claremont Editions”. Given the quality of this collection, we can’t wait to hear volume two.

"Elossa Records" fourth release is a melodic fresh breeze of balearic House from Miro-Benji & Stuster. A very talented duo from Finland who have been active as DJs and producers, for several years in the club music scene in Helsinki. They’ve also gained reputation for their NICE LIFE and Soft Assault Orchestra – projects. 'Magia EP' delivers quality down- and uptempo tunes, with a tropical, electronic touch.

For 'Music For Dreams’ collector’s series, we aim to bring you something a little different, something a little out there. After eclectic contributions from Jan Schulte, Moonboots and most recently Basso, we’ve lent the slot to Belgian sonic globetrotter DJ soFa. As always, he’s been granted supreme curatorial sovereignty, and trust us, he held us to our word on that one. For elsewhere Jr I, soFa takes us on a trip to the alluring and magical reality of childhood - and a trip, it is.

This double LP features both new and old compositions from a wide range of countries, all centered around the youngest citizens of planet earth. The compilation has been 2.5 years in the making, with soFa collecting obscure pieces from all over the world and inspiring young collaborators to produce new tracks mostly by means of analogue synthesizers and vintage drum machines. The result is a thematically and sonically homogenous collage of cosmic children’s music.

'soFa' starts us off with Milo Kolarov’s exercise in sonic imagery ‘Analogue Beam’, a story about animal characters, presented to us as distinct motifs of bleeps and blitzes. Next up is the surreal jigsaw puzzle dub ‘Totti und Pippo’ by Jah Limonardi and 'Die Kleine Gräfin Dubski'.

Here, we come bouncing on giant, iridescent mushrooms, lulled deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole by incantations of a child’s voice. Throughout, the record is full of these synaesthetic properties, immersing the listener in creative ways, nudging you down hidden experiential pathways.
All of the tracks, more precisely ... they were pleasantly engaging, often blooming with charming grooves and provided with a whimsical melody.

In an effort to dive back into electronic music like in its early pre-jazz days, the 40-year-old dinosaur of a label IGLOO is teaming up with fellow Brussels-based and significantly younger label Le Pacifique Records. The latter selected two tracks from Manu Louis’ latest album “Cream Parade” and gave them to producers for a dancefloor-friendly remix treatment, marked by a strong sense of paranoia.

The Belgo-Italian duo Front De Cadeaux went for a trademark slow, dark, trippy rumbler with their “Tinfoil Hat Mix” whereas the Frenchman Too Smooth Christ opted for a more housey, melancholic interpretation in his “Heartbreak Mix”.

But who is this Manu Louis guy whose tracks were the starting point?

Les Edits Du Golem return with a 45 release featuring two spaced out francophone oddities. Side A is a slow disco burner lamenting an evening getting lost while disco dancing. On Side B things simmer down even further with a doped out dad rock track.

Gafacci is well known for notable artist collaborations, eclectic edits and his Asokpor productions. On this new four track EP, he steps out of familiar soundscapes, driven by his steady desire to ex-plore a more melodic side of his own production style. This led him to experimenting with the ,Lo-Fi' and infuse it with afrobeats as well as diverse tropical sounds.
Over the past three years, the Accra based producer, DJ and songwriter Gafacci had been circulating around the term ,Low Fidelity' and he dedicates this album to all those across the globe who can relate and support the music.
The Title ,TASH BNM', meaning ,Tash bought new music' is inspired by the notifications of a music connoisseur's weekly purchases on bandcamp.

Noteworthy are also the featured artists, from multi instrumentalist Nii Quaye to Chefbanku, singer Amaarae, Ghana Music's OG Kyekyeku and rappers Tinuke & Lazee, each guest complements to this timeless piece of music in their own unique way.

Tempo Dischi's second release is one of electronic music’s seminal albums; 1798 Italian space disco album: Automat by Automat.

A year after the release of Oxygène by Jean Michel Jarre, a milestone for electronic music, “Automat" was released in Italy, a timeless record that has influenced the years to come. Released in 1978 by EMI Italia, the album has been produced by two veteran italian songwriters and composers, Romano Musumarra and Claudio Gizzi after meeting Mario Maggi, one of the major innovators in the manufacturing of electronic instruments in Italy. Maggi invented the first programmable monophonic synthesizer ever made: the MCS70. Its sounds have been the basis for the production of the whole Automat album. That synth was used only for this record and remained a prototype, leaving a halo of mystery behind this record.

The album moves in the furrows of an atypical space disco, with abstract classical arias alternating with more sustained rhythms, which combine electronic experiments, progressive psychedelic journeys with cinematic themes. The A Side, composed by Gizzi is an electronic disco-tinged suite divided into three parts (The Rise, The Advance, The Genius). Ater a brief spatial intro, the insistent arpeggio expands into a soundtrack theme with a sumptuous melody, which slowly fades away to make room for a progressive psychedelic journey. The B Side, composed by Musumarra, is made by three tracks, including ‘Droid‘, one of the most representative songs of the electronic music of the early eighties. A magic sequence between the bassline, the electro drums, and the spatial disco theme with a futuristic and cinematic mood. This is a record that has influenced the music of our days and after 40 years may still sound contemporary.

Fresh from offering up a “Claremont Editions” compilation packed with previously unheard gems, Claremont 56 has taken another rummage through the archives and delivered a 12” single containing magical revisions of back catalogue favourites.
On the A-side long-term friends of the family 40 Thieves offer up an epic new treatment of Jack Cutter’s “Serpent Strut”, a gently psychedelic fusion of glistening acoustic guitars, hazy slow-burn grooves and David Harks vocals that the California-based duo produced for Claremont 56 back in 2015. The San Francisco duo has rebuilt the track from the ground up, delivering a 10-minute take that opens with three minutes of blissful acoustic guitar and atmospheric field recordings before morphing into a spacey dub disco chugger rich in intergalactic electronics, eyes-closed electric guitar solos, hazy bass, drowsy chords and echo-laden snippets of Harks’ vocal. It’s a breathtaking revision that takes the beautifully understated original version in a feverish, mind mangling new directions.
When you’ve got your breath back, head over to side B where a previous single by psychedelic disco-nauts Almunia is given the remix treatment by fellow Italians Leo Mas and Fabrice, a production partnership that has been active since the original Balearic era. They’re experienced remixers and in the past have put their stamp on tracks by Roisin Murphy, Dj Rocca, the Woodentops, Underground System and Ruf Dug. Here they offer up a deliciously trippy Balearic dub revision of “Pulsar” album favorite “View From a Blue Train”. Their spaced out “On Air Dub” brilliantly breaks up the beats, emphasizes the original’s superb bassline and smothers select snippets of guitar, synthesizer and electric piano in Lee “Scratch” Perry levels of delay. It’s an inspired revision, all told, and as out-there and intergalactic as a shuttle ride to Jupiter in the company of DJ Harvey, Dennis Bovell and Adrian Sherwood.

DJ Mad A (Adam Embleton) & Dr. Stevie The Ambient Guru (Stevie Hewitt) originally met when Adam picked up the Saturday shift at 'Record Mart', a record store run by Stevie back in the late 80's. They quickly bonded over shared tastes and enthusiasm for the growing dance club culture in England.

'Balearic Beat' had arrived from Ibiza, house music was taking over, and clubs were pushing boundaries, encouraging DJs to experiment with the dancefloor. Stevie was a regular selector at classic venues like 'Club Havana' and 'Flixx', where he blended house, electro & techno for the loaded English youth. Adam had signed to Island records, at 17, the first signee for newly appointed A&R rep Darcus Beese. Their collaborations in the Island studio is where the early 'Mad A' production techniques were cultivated.

With Adam behind the programming and Stevie on guitar, the two assembled a few songs to add to their explorative DJ sets. They printed a white label tiny pressing of 'The Mad Vibe', four tracks, "sending out waves that shock", their sound was a frantic blend of electro and house. The E.P. sold out fast locally, with their tune, 'Levitating Pharaohs' catching the attention of Drum 'n' Bass duo 'Spring Heel Jack' and labels like Mo'wax. As the 90's rolled on, the two continued to DJ as residents at clubs like Corner House, Brody's, Arena & Dickens.

"Play The Trax. Feel The Vibes. Mad as....."

Over the past few years, Palms Trax has cemented his place on the Dekmantel roster and become one of the family. His upbeat attitude and knack for selection have made Jay Donaldson one of the scene's most in-demand and warmly regarded selectors. Combining rare, globally-sourced finds with exuberant house anthems, his annual sets at Dekmantel Festival have showed a nearly unmatched capacity for filling floors and creating grooves. Now, the UK producer puts his talents to work on To Paradise, tapping classic Italo, wave and Balearic house for an EP that has summertime written all over it.

Title track "To Paradise" kicks things off with an infectious, melodic chorus that spirals into a pulsing rhythm. It's full of those 'hand-in-the-air' type moments, and topped with blissful vibes. "Love In Space" follows with a throbbing bassline melded with rich atmospheres. It's more Adriatic than Balearic, careening with an anthemic affection and destined for festival season. "Heron" veers away from the Italo vibes and standard structures that hold regular dance tracks together. A departure into more experimental electronics, the dynamics are controlled through rhythms and the synthesised melodies create forlorn narratives across machine-driven sequences. It's a dynamic finish to this considered and perfectly timed trio of offerings.

When Air’s Nicolas Godin released his debut solo album, Contrepoint (2015), he channelled the influence of Bach into a rich, resonant and hugely rewarding spread of musical explorations. One soundtrack (A Very Secret Service) later, Godin builds on equally fertile conceptual foundations for the follow-up. Released through Because Music on 24th January, Concrete and Glass is an exquisitely crafted set of variations on architectural reference points: mounted with minimalist precision and delivered with an abundance of pop warmth, it finds Godin in his element, working seductive wonders with poise and style to spare.

For Godin, the album circles back to his formative work as half of ground-breaking French electronic group Air. Revered modern architect Le Corbusier was an influence on the young architecture graduate’s music, notably on his 1997 debut “Modular Mix”. Twenty-plus years later, Le Corbusier featured on a list of modernist architects Godin was invited to compose tributes for, tributes intended to be heard as the soundtrack to site-specific installations around the world.

In its soft ambient pulse and melting minimalism, lead track “The Border” is a perfect entry-point to Godin’s hymns to buildings, arranged and co-produced with Pierre Rousseau. Its levitating synths, vocoder vocals and scudding bass hove into view with understated elegance, all the better to accommodate the discreet slow-build of delicate details within. As with Air, Godin makes gorgeously light work of every angle: this is music that seems entirely unperturbed by gravity, occupying an elevated atmosphere of its own.

Elsewhere, the title-track’s clean synth lines, crisply apportioned arrangements and tender timpani offer another inviting entry-point, sculpted with architectural clarity. While Godin’s vocoder vocals also hark back to Air’s early work, the album accommodates a diverse spread of guest vocalists elsewhere. Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor guests on the falsetto-soul dream-pop of “Catch Yourself Falling”, one of Godin’s sweetest melodies yet. Oxnard singer/activist Cola Boyy brings soul to the righteously engaged “The Foundation”; the squelchy synths and buoyant grooves burn slow, allowing the stealthy arrangements and message room to resonate. Psychedelic soul singer Kadhja Bonet sings with measured serenity over tremulous synths on “We Forgot Love”, while Russian experi-pop artist Kate NV brings a gracefully aching romanticism to the blissful swoon-pop of “Back to Your Heart”.

Additionally, Australian conceptual provocateur Kirin J Callinan contributes a vocal of restrained drama to “Time on My Hands”, a midnight-drift soft-pop ballad with a silky allure. One of the quickest tracks to record for the album, it emerged in collaborations between Los Angeles (”During some lively sessions in Mac DeMarco’s studio,” notes Godin) and Paris. After he missed his flight home, Callinan stayed in France for a day as the guitar solos were recorded, complementing the song's air of sleek luxuriousness.

Between its title-track and the sultry, smoky jazz stylings of closer “Cité Radieuse”, Concrete and Glass is an album that truly travels, in tune with its global pitch. For Godin, it marks another milestone in a musical journey that began when Air’s 1998 debut album, Moon Safari, became the sublimely weightless soundtrack of its time. For Concrete and Glass, Godin builds on his storied past with tremendous finesse, charm and fluency, opening fresh windows of perspective at every lovingly executed turn.

Chilled Classics is the follow-up to the chart-topping 2016 and 2017 albums Classic House and Ibiza Classics, which saw the revered DJ, broadcaster and dance pioneer rework classic tunes with the orchestra, conducted and arranged by Jules Buckley.

This third collection sees Tong and Buckley introduce a number of new tracks, fitting seamlessly in amongst the classics as if they too were unearthed from the vaults. "We’re trying to make timeless music,” says Tong, “and we think these fit in.”

Since debuting on the label in May 2017, East London duo Earthboogie has been part of the extended Leng family. In rhat time, Izak Gray and Nicola Robinson have delivered a swathe of superb singles and a fine debut album, 2018’s critically acclaimed Human Call. Here they present their sole single of 2019, a two-track fusion of intergalactic, terrestrial and tribal elements reflective of their by-now trademark style. Fittingly, lead cut “Creepy Steve” – a previously unheard workout recorded during the sessions for Human Call – contains many of the musical ingredients that made Earthboogie such an enticing proposition. It boasts a raw, fuzzy and driving analogue bassline, densely layered tribal percussion, dub disco-influenced guitars, woozy electronics and sporadic blasts of African style chanting. As if that wasn’t enough to get the blood pumping, Gray and Robinson have also thrown in some extended, rock style guitar solos and more cowbells, bongos and timbales than you can shake a stick at



It comes accompanied by a previously unheard remix of “Human Call”, the title track from their superb debut album, by friend and fellow musical fusionist Joel Harrison. His version is warm, woozy, driving and percussive, brilliantly re-imagining Earthboogie’s original version as a supersonic slab of peak-time ready deep house. The band’s original chanted vocals, guitars and melodies slowly rise above bustling, all-action drums, weighty bass, alien-sounding electronic flourishes, poignant trumpet parts and seriously dreamy sustained chords.

Music From Memory's sister label Second Circle returns with their first release of 2018, this time with a 4 tracker EP from French producer and Antinote via Melody As Truth affiliate D.K. aka Dang Khoa Chau. Titled 'Mystery Dub', this new record features two percussive house cuts on the A side with two more evocative compositions on the flip. Recorded in his studio in the 11th district of Paris, the release showcases a wide yet characteristic palette of sounds and textures the Parisian artist has been sharpening over the years: atmospheric/hypnotic strings, warm pads, dreamy landscapes and spacial rhythms.

Mysterious trio Mount Kismet are dropping debut single ‘Teenage Fantasy’ on Oct 11th, and their debut album “Warmer Lanes” on Nov 15th via Disco Halal.
Strung together by the dark, alluring vocals of French-Canadian artist C.A.R., the 1st single, ‘Teenage Fantasy’ combines sparse, synth-driven cold wave with the kind of Middle Eastern electronic elements that have become synonymous with Disco Halal. The track will feature alongisde 9 other tracks on Warmer Lanes.
Based between Berlin and London, Mount Kismet is a project driven by an eastern music obsession and a taste for the heavy pulse of drum machines and the rumbling of analog synthesisers. The group’s only other release, the track ‘Prunes & Dunes’, was included in Perfect Strangers, a ‘various artists’ compilation put out on Disco Halal last year.
An established artist in her own right, C.A.R. has previously collaborated with the likes of Maceo Plex, Red Axes and Bawrut.
