Articulat is the (new) artist name of Ovidiu Stanciu, a Romanian dj/producer living in Rotterdam. Under the moniker Manikin, he worked on several concept albums with titles like Popular Mechanics, Taxim and Grandma's Attic Revival over the last couple of years. While selecting tracks for this debut EP it felt like curating a 'best of', and we chose to put three thriving and pounding slow-beat bangers on the A side, and to show more of Articulat's versatile style on the B-side. Expect experimental electronic songs inspired by themes like Steampunk and Romanian folklore, very precisely engineered to experience storytelling in the most physical way.

At long last! We're delighted to present a hypnotic time-capsule courtesy of Dissmentado aka Ismael Pinkler from Carisma and Kompakt collaborator, Máximo Graesse Bondino.

Recorded during summer trips in Buenos Aires and spending autumn in Tromso, Norway between 2006 - 2010, Maximo and Ismael met several times during that period and used friends houses and studios to produce a long list of material, selecting later the best of it for this compilation.

The tracks are long and slow, with deep and moving beats and long background sounds dedicated to warm up dreamers and after hour survivors.

The elements develop their movements in a relaxed way through the tracks creating a loose feel. Every beat was played with their hands and there is no arpeggiated melodies to remind you where the ground is.

The release is complemented by a beautiful artwork by the supremely talented Glasgow-based artist, Rosie McGurn

Max Essa has been active as a DJ and producer since the early 90s, initially releasing music on labels such as Warp Records and Paperecordings and DJing alongside the infamous D.i.Y Sound System. His recent work, for labels like Is It Balearic Recordings, has been play-listed by the likes of Andrew Weatherall and the late David Mancuso, gaining him a devoted following around the world.

2015 saw his first release with a major label in the shape of the 'Vacations Never Taken' CD for Victor Entertainment (Japan). The same year also found him completing another round of world-wide DJ bookings in Brazil, Indonesia, and Vietnam to name but a few.

2018 sees Max continuing his hectic weekly DJ schedule in Tokyo as well as playing the length and breadth of Japan from Sapporo to Okinawa, and releases are scheduled this year for Hell Yeah!, Music For Dreams, Palms & Charms, and Aficionado.

Peak:Shift (Simon Flower) returns with a new EP on Furthur Electronix after two years since his last release on Temporary State. Furthur Electronix are excited to release 'Standard Candles' on the label, with four tracks of the deepest kind. All cuts were previously unreleased, and limited to 200 copies

For this EP, Jófríður Ákadóttir has re-recorded some of the finest songs from her bands and solo-projects (JFDR, Samaris, Pascal Pinon) with new string arrangements. These versions have a simple, inherent beauty that is juxtaposed with their seething, stark intensity.

To replace the original arrangements with strings was originally planned as a one-off event: When preparing a Pascal Pinon performance in Portugal, Jófríður asked NYC-based composer Ian Davis to help her re-arrange four tracks. After the show Jófríður realized that the material deserved to be captured.

The featured songs were chosen from the repertoire of JFDR (her solo project) and Pascal Pinon (the duo she forms with her sister Ásthildur). There were no objective selection criteria: - I chose the songs that called for strings, songs that I was interested in continuing their story', Jófríður says. - Making this EP was meant to cast new light onto old bodies, to explore what is song and what is arrangement'. Indeed, the arrangements establish a fresh perspective on the selected songs (except for - My Work' - as the track will appear on a forthcoming JFDR album). Being freed from genre, these versions also expose JFDR's voice and its dynamics— the absence of beats gives her vocal performance new possibilities.

The EP was recorded live in a studio in Reykjavík, where Jófríður was joined by producer Albert Finnbogason, her sister Ásthildur (additional vocals and piano) and a string quintet. Ian Davis also made it to the recording sessions and brought two new transcriptions: - I wanted to have moments of clear simplicity juxtaposed with more dense, experimental passages. Sometimes the strings are just holding root notes and simple chords and other times they open up into more contrapuntal and textural moments', Ian explains. As a result, you'll find both moments of modest beauty as well as intensely seething passages. Even if Jófríður's voice clearly is the main attraction here, this EP - as she emphazises herself - is a collective work of those involved: - Trusting your collaborators is the truest gift'.

Theomatic's tenth anniversary, Andrey Zakharov aka An-2 brings together 'Sunset stories", the first true Long Play released on the label. The six tracks (eight for digital version), including previously unreleased 'Ode to Andromeda' and 'Elegy FM', represent An-2's very best production from 2006 to 2011. Separate mastering was made for the digital and vinyl release, the latter of which will come in a fine full color printed sleeve.

Theomatic is back with a surprise 12-inch from the label's mainman An-2. Mint EP is a collection of four space-boogie jams spanning a variety of moods and tempos that have been recorded over the period of last couple of years. The lo-fi beats and pulsating kalimba-esque arpeggios on 'Sigint' create an instant feel of a sci-fi movie soundtrack, while an ultra-deep kick drum and a punchy bass on 'Mint' is a sure way to test your speaker performance. Things get more chilled and pensive on the flipside with 'Dusky Downtown''s brooding synthwork and rolling pads taking you on a stroll along glittering neon-lit city streets. Last, but not least, Amberflame's take on 'Dusky Downtown' is a steaming affair that uses tight compression and lush synths and to create that special euphoric dancefloor moment.

FEATHERED SUN is the collaborative experiment from Acid Pauli, NU, Jo.Ke, Raz Ohara, Chris Schwarzwalder and Iannis Ritter. They fuse a celebration of spirit with moody atmospheric melodies, trying to celebrate moments in time through their music.
Friends for years, they hang out, with or without kids, and cook, eat, breathe, record and produce in different combinations and locations, with Berlin and Peru as their main bases. With a wide ranged sound that is at the same time familiar, they start to draw ever bigger circles, touring the world and accumulating hits, especially NU with the still topical "Who loves the Sun", sung with Jo.Ke's haunting voice.

Night Theatre is a new label from Linkwood dedicated to serving dancers and deejays a like.

All tracks of the EP are accompanied by Idil Meºe's soft as summer rain vocals and lyrics rhyming on stories of streets. The EP will be released under Kanto Records label, the newly established contemporary platform focused primarily on experimental music and the arts, founded by Oceanvs Orientalis himself. Featuring many esteemed musicians such as Ilhan Ersahin, Idil Mese, Hasan Gozetlik and Ali Ceyhun Kartalsuna, 'General Tales of Ordinary Madness' EP consists four tracks, recorded over a year in New York and Istanbul.

Francis Harris is one of the most interesting figures on the american electronic music cicruit and beyond. His output has gone from tightly wound tech house cuts as Adultnapper in the early days, sublime deep house as Frank & Tony, intricate and expressive musical journeys as evident in his two solo-albums 'Leland' and 'Minutes Of Sleep', and ambient shoegaze with two Aris Kindt albums, co-produced with Gabe Hedrick. Most recently Harris branched out with a new label - Kingdoms - a home for his love of a more adventurous sound. Up until now his most notable milestones remain the two solo-albums Leland (2012) and Minutes Of Sleep (2014) who became essential albums of the genre. Both albums have been out of print for a long time and due to public demand we are happy to present new vinyl editions of both albums. Carefully restored from original masters and artwork the albums now appear in gatefold-sleeves while Leland spans over three vinyl discs and Minutes Of Sleep over two, just like the sold out originals. ‚Leland' features Danish vocalist Gry on three tracks including lostfound,' the first single and video which was remixed by Mathew Herbert and debuted on Pitchfork. Also featured throughout are Emil Abramyan, whose poignant performance on cello evokes comparison to Arthur Russell, and Greg Paulus (No Regular Play/Matthew Dear Band), whose improvisational free jazz inspired trumpet accents converse thoughtfully with Harris' own tonal melodies performed on piano and guitar. It has become a tradition for The Maghreban to make records commemorating the passing of cats he knew and loved. One of these tracks is for Martha.One of the tracks someone said sounded like "too many pots and pans". The other one he made using Elka X705 organ sounds.

It's a shame that these tracks together make for such a tepid, middling, unremarkable record. Not his best work by any stretch. Perhaps there is different music around the corner.

South London producer Ben Hauke takes a sonic excursion to South America via Lewisham for a new seven track release for Far Out Recordings. While littered with Afro-Latin percussion, and samples of obscure Brazilian, Cuban and Colombian records, Only Old stays true to Ben's distinctly London identity, with a record that fluctuates between house, broken beat and instrumental hip-hop.Having collaborated with the likes of Nubya Garcia and Joe Armon Jones, Ben Hauke stands at the electronic end of London's new jazz movement. Currently working on new releases with more of a focus on live instrumentation, Ben titled the release 'Only Old' as it leans more heavily on his foundational approach to music making: an idiosyncratic, almost brazen sampling style in productions bursting with personality.Always full of character and style, Hauke's productions have seen him likened to Theo Parrish and Madlib, with an altogether physical approach to sound. Title track 'Only Old' is moody broken beat with eerie sampled vocals and piano. 'Get Up To Get Down' is a light n' breezy summer house stepper, while Brazil-inspired 'Runners' sounds as if it was made for MF Doom. Only Old will be released on 180g Vinyl on 20th July. Liai is the audio/visual project of Lo Bise, a Chicago-based experimental electronic musician and recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. At the intersection of music being presented in a certain framework, questions regarding musical quality, intentionality, virtuosity and purpose arise. The work 'Preset Music' engages with questions regarding compositional intentions. Notes, chords - and often times improvised snippets of music - are exclusively serving the purpose of showcasing the instrument itself. 'Preset Music' aims to display the juxtaposition of intentionality and non-intentionality in music and composition. With the gesture of intentionally sampling and composing, using non- intentional musical material - in the sense of purposive presentation regarding the instrument - the seven compositions stand in direct contrast to the presenters' original intentions.

'Preset Music' is the result of complex sampling strategies working with looped segments, automation, pitch, timbre, speed and mapping amongst other.

KREATTONES fourth instalment is finally here and it is, of course, a blast ! DJ Fett Burger and Finish mastermind producer Stiletti Ana have been making their first album together, titled 358 MEN. After their first successful 12 Seriously Goodbye released on Sex Tags UFO four years ago, they continued the work in progress. And did a series of studio collaborations in Stilleti Ana's amazing Helsinki based Haista II studio, and it led to this double vinyl underground smash album. Containing nine atmospheric under the radar cuts, touching base in slow disco, electronic leftfield house, underground hip hop beats meets krautrock and dub, and some live sound experiments. A 100% style debut by the two producers. Original, leftfield, and with the live drummers groove and bliss synthesisers move to create the hypnothic swag. This will be DJ Fett Burger's debut album, and self released on his own and Jayda G's Frekout Cult label. Rumoured to be the last Freakout Cult release. Hailing out of Montreal, 00:AM follow up their killer first release with a four track VA e.p. setting their stall out as a label to watch in 2018. The Hutchin Crew open up proceedings with an ethereal and hypnotic cut, coupling sweeping pads with dreamy keys. Next up, DJ OK takes things darker layering thudding toms and atmospheric strings with a sci-fi sampled spoken word.

Die kraftvolle Soundwelt des ersten Songs ist eine klare Aussage. Elektronische Musik muss nicht dunkel und zwischen vier Wänden ohne Tageslicht versteckt sein. Rey & Kjavik veröffentlicht seinen ersten Longplayer namens "RKADASH" auf Katermukke und ist vielseitig und unerwartet erfrischend. Bekannt für seine kraftvollen Dj Sets zeigt der Frankfurter Produzent mit diesem Release einige neue Fähigkeiten.Der Track "Ulima" zeichnet sich durch ethnische Reime, einem hypnotischen Gesang und interessanten Synth Akkorden aus. "Saraswati" ist der Track zum meditieren während getanzt wird- ein bewegter Rhythmus, der jede Menge Raum für Körperbewegung bietet.
Eine neue Version von "Baba City" bringt orientalische Rhythmen in den Vordergrund. Inspiriert von seinen Reisen zum Burning Man und anderen berühmten Festivals rund um den Globus, ist dieser Longplayer eine Zusammenfassung von Impressionen und Klängen auf Straßen, Hotels, dunklen Flughafen-Lounges und sonnigen Stränden. No doubt, 'Sistema Lunar' is the masterpiece work to date of LA's producer Rigopolar. The best Giorgio Moroder hedonist style is totally present here but with a modern approach that makes of it an absolute instaclassic capable of burn up any dancefloor of the planet, this is a truly gem for any important collection. It arrives on 12 Maxi-Single EP format and produced in a ONE-OFF truly limited edition of 300 copies lacquered pressed on 180 gr. high quality solid color vinyl.
