"When We Were Astronauts" is Twardowski's third solo outing on U Know Me Records and his first full-length LP. The album started as an exercise in creating an alternative soundtrack to a certain sci-fi movie - sketches for the tracks were laid out as illustration to particular scenes and sequences from the movie. Eventually, as the sketches started to form an album, the concept evolved into an impression about childhood dreams, manifested by the yearning to become an astronaut. All this is heavily filtered by the artist's 80's nostalgia and unconditional love for sci-fi movies, especially the kitschy ones.

Sonically, the album builds on Twardowski's formula for the previous two EPs: take some samples, add a truckload of synths and mold until a modern take on boogie forms. Touches of broken beat and cheesy 80s arpeggios are added to complete the sci-fi theme of the album.

Both sides of the LP feature vocal tracks: Borys Dejnarowicz appears on side A with a sort of a theme song for the album and side B features Misia Furtak in a lullaby for spacemen. The limited edition vinyl (300 copies) features a beautiful gatefold cover, designed by famous Polish designer Edgar Bak.

In the summer of 2014, producers Frankie Valentine and Thomas 'T-Ash' Sciurpa bumped into each other in a London shoe shop. Over a fine selection of brogues and loafers, the conversation drifted onto music. The duo quickly realized they had much in common, and a plan began to form: they would get together and make music as Vitruvians, using the alias as a vehicle for their collaborative work.
Some 18 months and numerous recording sessions in England and Italy later, the first Vitruvians record is ready for release. Dropping on Paul Murphy and Simon Purnell's Leng Records imprint, 'Spaghetti Saloon' is a banjo-pickin' hoedown at the last drinking hole in the Milky Way. Propelled forwards by a restless drum machine rhythm, the duo's original version expertly combines winding synthesizer melodies, wild honky-tonk piano solos, clanging 'closing time' bells, and the most loved-up banjo player in the galaxy. Ennio Morricone, eat your heart out.
The flipside of the 12' features a pair of tasty, DJ-friendly revisions. There's the chugging Banjo Dub, where delay-laden bells and undulating banjo lines rub shoulders with a throbbing, space disco groove, and the even more psychedelic and alluring Piano Dub. As the title suggests, this pushes the duo's distinctive keys work to the fore, stretching out the life affirming solos in a bid to incite even greater dancefloor abandon. Social Experiment is back with a 3 cut EP that was specifically crafted for the dance floor by rising star AD/D. An individual with a long history in dance music who is set to go the next level off the back of this stunning debut package on this imprint. The EP features 2 floor destroyer grooves featured heavily in Art Department dj sets all year, and ends with the sublime and slightly 90's nostalgic gem 'Star 233411' from the Canadian also knows as Mario J, which is heavily influenced by the music he made and played at his iconic nightclub, Industry.

Ladonia is a micronation proclaimed in 1996 by the artist Lars Vilks. In 1980, he began construction of two sculptures, Nimis and Arx in the Kullaberg nature reserve in north-west Skane, Sweden. t. Frank Agrario has given Ladonian citizenship this year and titled the label's second release to his new nation. The peaceful and deep nature that surrounds Nimis really impacted the sound. There is a certain deepnes that dominates the tracks, still the beats are funky as usual and percussion and dub fx work is an undeniable Frank Agrario's trademark. The Rmx comes from his Majesty RICK WADE that sparkled the release with his magic Detroit's vibe, a masterpiece. Note : Anthem is the first recording of Ladonia's national anthem known to be pressed on vinyl. "

The ninth installment on House Is OK comes from Homeboy who brings four fresh joints to the table. After making the move to Berlin earlier this year, this Mediterranean goodboy brings some newly acquired production techniques with his latest record. Live drum sampling, loose synth riffs and other more personal notes can be heard across the entire release. For "Decisions Ricochet", Homeboy teamed up with the Croatian blues man Bebe Na Vole who takes this record into unexplored territories for the label. These four tracks weren't necessarily designed to move bodies on the dance floor, but more likely mirror his inspiration from the past 12 months and show his abilities to simply write great music. It's House Not House, post-disco, jazz, and acid synth hippie music all at the same time.

Vivod welcome Paul Withey to the fold for a slice of his funk tinged repertoire. With recent tracks on Birmingham's Ruby Hills & Diamond Mountain and a remix for Future Unit's Tusk Wax release, this should be a telling year for Mr Withey. The Sound of Detroit by one of it's unsung heroes, Amp Fiddlers new album Motor City Booty comes straight off the D Funk assembly line, a full on dance floor affair from Motown to P-Funk, Techno and Neo Soul.
This 11 track album produced by Yam Who & includes the massive Soul Fly sounding like a Mark Ronson production had he been hanging out with George Clinton's Parlet followed by the bonafide P-Funk anthem 'Steppin' both featuring the stunning vocals by the Dames Brown girls.
Amp Fiddler is credited for taking both a young J Dilla and also Q-Tip under his wing teaching them Akai MPC techniques, setting the path for some of Hip Hops finest recordings which have defined the shape of things to come.

Not An Animal keeps up the pace and pressure with yet another high quality distinctive release, further cementing the labels specific sound and revealing more of the scope of its musical mission. Machete Savane are compromised of label co owner Andy Bainbridge and producer/composer Saul Richards. Manticore continues with their instantly recognisable hi octane yet organic discofied sound, as previously displayed via their releases on Cynic and Redux. Remix wise, there's a very much 'night and day' choice to be had here, with Johnny Nash (Land Of LIght) providing his trademark blissed-out ambience to a beatless rendition and Ian Blevins taking the original even further into dancefloor territory, upping the tempos and evoking the drive of Paperclip People.

After releases on Nowar, Terpsichoré and Cinematic, French artist The Florian Muller Project gives parisian label Escapade their second release. The four tracks span across a wide range of electronic sounds, showcasing the artist's rich influences. 'Friday Afternoon' opens the record with a solid house groove featuring a beautiful Rhodes solo. 'Hommage Galactique' pays a tribute to Detroit's Hi-Tech Jazz sound pioneered by Underground Resistance's Galaxy 2 Galaxy. On the B side, The Forian Muller Project leaves out his jazz influences. The hypnotic sounds of 'Frederique' conjure up a mysterious, almost jungle-like, ambiance and 'Low Tech Soul' ends the record on a deep and atmospheric techno vibe.

Mozez (Zero 7, Nightmares On Wax) teams up with Ray Mang for some gospel disco infused versions of Run River, a track from his new album Wings.

After the success of their collaboration with Mozez' girlfriend Mari's track Free a couple of years ago, Mozez invited Ray to do some versions of something from his new album Wings recently released on Numen Records. Run River with its powerful gospel vocal harmonies and disco tinged guitar seemed the obvious choice. Presented here on heavyweight 180g 12" vinyl in three versions for your listening pleasure with digital to follow.

'River In Me' is the first single taken from Trentemøller's new album 'Fixion'. While the new album is scheduled for a September release, 'River In Me' will be available from June 24th and features Jehnny Beth of Savages on vocals, while Trentemøller contributed his own rework for the B-side. 'I've been a huge Savages fan since their debut record.' says Trentemøller. ' I met their producer Johnny Hostile at a festival in Paris and ended up inviting him to support us on our tour. Jehnny actually tagged along for some of the dates. Afterwards, he dropped me a line and asked me to mix the next Savages record 'Adore Life'. Myself, Johnny and Jehnny built a real friendship in the process so it felt right to ask her to sing on a few of the songs. She has this really intense and unique voice and it ended up being really challenging, and fun, to take that voice out of the Savages' universe and into mine.' Swedish director Åsa Riton and Swedish artist Andreas Emenius created an outstanding video for 'River In Me' which will be published on the release date of the single. The new album 'Fixion' follows on three full length albums 'The Last Resort', 'Into The Great Wide Yonder' and 'Lost' as well as 'artist-compilations' like 'The Trentemøller Chronicles', 'Reworked/Remixed', 'Live In Copenhagen' and 'Late Night Tales'.

Alma Negra is a Swizz collective that consists of four musically driven friends, the Figuiera Brothers Dersu & Diego who's roots are established firmly in their Cape Verdian heritage, Dario with his half and half Portuguese/Italian mix and finally Mario with Spanish roots.They are all passionate diggers who love playing music from all over the world, something that's evident in their productions as well. Encompassing jazz, african and latin sounds to soul, funk, disco, house and even techno.
As far as inspiration goes they mention Donald Byrd ,Fela Kuti and Theo Parrish. TOM And His Computer is the newest alias for Copenhagen favourite Thomas Bertelsen. He started out as a teenager by looping and creating beats on his 4 track tape-recorder. Since then the very talented producer and DJ has been around the block. He produced two albums (with Lulu Rouge) and a number of songs, edits and remixes. He has also been DJing alongside Trentemøller every now and then since the early days and most recently TOM And His Computer performed live on the opening slot of Trentemøller's latest live tour and lately at Sonar Copenhagen 2015. Now we are happy and proud to present 'Small Disasters', TOM And His Computer's debut EP on Anders Trentemøller's label In My Room! Mixing elements as disparate as electronica, lo-fi guitars, driving beats, vocals and cinematic soundscape, this EP is a perfect example of why TOM And His Computer is tipped for big things in 2016. What maybe can be described as 'alternative electronic music' unfolds in different nuances. The lead track 'Organ' rides along on a crunchy rhythm track while throwing in psychedelic organs and howling electronics. Fizzing guitars weave in and project a paranoid undertone. Next up is 'Girl A Go Go' and its raw driving beat and bass hits in without any warning, before an agressive, hypnotising surf like guitar-riff comes in. Layers and layers of dirty distortion build a colapsing, overdriving climax. 'Tectonic' keeps the dark energy flowing, but packs it into a slow crawling creepy setting, drenched in reverb and noisy layers. Fraser McGuinness contributes the otherwordly vocals. Is he moaning Or conjuring Or proclaiming The song evolves from a fragile, fleeting feel into a massive, 'tectonic' pressure and all the way back. 'La Fountaine' completes the EP with another cut that perfectly fuses diverse elements from across the musical spectrum

Youandewan makes his Voyage debut with Luna Via, a three track EP sitting comfortably at home, above the ether.
The opening piece is spread across the A side, with two separate interpretations, 'Ciel' and 'Vessel'. 'Ciel' is the faster, uplifting predecessor to 'Vessel', which remains slow and nostalgic. On the flip, a touch of familiarity with the antonymously named Stranger (Glad Eye), a surging take on house music and Youandewan's various influences.
Luna Via is also accompanied by a full sleeve interpretation by Melbourne's Sprinkles.

Her beauty too radiant to be beheld. Stark and striking, at once an object of desire and lust. Carved by the hand of a king, brought to life by the gods; hers is a story now captured in modern day ivory; vinyl. Originally released on the mighty Y Records in 1982, this single by Disconnection was a mutant disco cover version of a song from Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1949 musical, South Pacific which was made into a blockbuster film in 1958.

An odd choice of a song to cover Well, something was in the air back in '82 as at almost exactly the same time the Disconnection record was released Captain Sensible covered Happy Talk' from South Pacific and had a UK number 1 with it. I'd like to think he got the idea after hearing Bali Ha'i' but that would be pure speculation. What I do know is that even though the Disconnection record made barely a ripple at the time it is by far the superior record. Vocals are by Angela Jaeger

Long sought after and going for stupid money on Discogs, as a long time Y Records freak I am very honoured to have been given permission to make this curiously great record available again and to give it a home in the Optimo Music Disco Plates series. Dick O'Dell's Y Records released so many great records - The Slits, The Pop Group, PIgbag, Sun Ra, Pulsallama, Shriekback, Maximum Joy, The Tesco Bombers and Mouth amongst others - and this one is up there with the best of them.

It is released in the original configuration, Radio Mix, US Discomix and UK Discomix versions alongside the faux exotica delight that is the Angela Jaeger penned Aaaah'. It comes in a shrink-wrapped black disco bag with a 12' x 12' insert featuring the original front sleeve artwork.
