Comparisons to genres like Krautrock are predictable, however we feel these four songs are so heavily narrative and wildly visceral that attempting to categorize the music would be a disservice to your imagination. Rothmans are back with their first real milestone as a label and what better way to celebrate the labels 10th record than honouring the greatest no10 of all time Diego Armando Maradona Franco.

In their first 3 seasons Rothmans have developed a reputation for throwing us curve ball after curve ball, and in what has without doubt been their best season yet off the back of Roth 8's house slammer with Aimes & Brassica, to Roth 9's Acid Arab chug from Naduve & co, they have once again thrown another huge spanner in the works (feels like 1986 all over again)

The Diego Maradona EP comes from Brooklyn based producer Cale Parks. Better known in the New York music scene as a professional drummer Cale has recently turned his hand to producing and off the back of some fine releases on HAKT (Have A Killer Time) , he has now found his way onto the Rothmans Teamsheet.
Track 1 - The Big Bust sounds like something you might hear as the opening to an Apparat album , the sweeping synths and beautifully scored piano remind me of the first time I watched Maradona leave Beardsley and Reid for dead in the centre circle of the Azteca Stadium on a hot evening in Mexico City.
Track 2- 9G steps up the pace a bit with a much more attacking Piano sound and darker synths that remind me of watching Diego charge right past Terry Butcher and storm towards the goal on that fateful night in Mexico.

The record is finished off with a banging breakbeat sounding remix by the delectable Eddie C that almost replicates the same energy, and kick ,as Maradona steaming into the box and beating Shilton to score the greatest goal in World Cup history.

All we can say is that Rothmans have delivered another masterclass of their own.

Damien Lynch enjoys countryside a drive in the twilight hour. This is his second offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, Brunette opens with a straight-ahead techno thump of hi-hats and a pulsating 16th-note bassline—a subtle playing field composed solely with a rare 1970's Italian machine, the Godwin Drummaker 32, unearthed from the secret back room of a music shop in rural Ireland where it hid among wonderful vintage Russian synths and oddball electronics. This elegant track drips with warm and phasing pads, gentle staccato keys and beautifully simple arpeggios that blur every now and then—all affirming Damien's less-is-more ideology. With side B's Forced Relax, Damien continues to exercise his restraint, arranging his instruments in a band-like fashion, affording each player the sonic space to project their individual qualities whilst supporting an overall dialogue. There is a soft ebb and flow to every machine's role, whether the swelling of bass or the interplay of percussive keys, but when these characters arrive in one place, the result is a tranquil euphoria. These two songs will accept you for who you truly are.

Sleazy McQueen, ne´ Laurin Fedora, has been one of the U.S.'s foremost purveyors of classic disco, fuzzy house, and funky edits for over a decade, so it's about time we bring him into the fold at LPH. Doing it in style and with a bang by delivering a package that includes two originals—the cosmic 'Huit Etoiles' and the bumpin' shuffler 'Galway Jam'—plus two remixes of the titular track, one by Kenji Takimi, best known as the founder of Japan's preeminent dance music label, Crue­L, one by Gerd Janson, the head honcho at Running Back as well as Lauer's better half in Tuff City Kids.

The Blah Blah Posse delivers once again another goodie bag of Balearic obscureness well worth checking out. 'Balearic Flame' is a chilled trumpet funker with that certain Herb sound in the mix - sounding like the missing link between 'Rise' and 'Rotation. Next up is a fave of Aficionado meister Moonboots 'Wateworld' - cinematic 80ties keys. Did anyone mention George Clooney is the Balearic Doctor of perfect new age sunset soundtracks for that Cafe Del Mar moment 'Mexodus' is a hard to find original from 1981 - comes across like a chanson meets French band Air.
Finally, the atmopsheric afro Cosmic funk stepper 'Buh Bak Ho' is full of jazzy keys and lovely savannah chanting.
Not much to say - Balearic Blah Blah is serious business for any collector of pure Mediterranean bliss. Don't sleep - limited 300. No repress.

Way back in 2013 we were a new label, and they were a new face on the scene.
Their hit record 'Camino de Dreyfus' helped propel both the label and the artist in to the established figures that both are today.

Vinyl collector, producer and resident DJ of CIRQ (one of the most influent underground club in Italy) Olderic is the man behind this fascinating EP 'Alma'. The A side is opened by the title track, which is nothing less than a banger built on purpose to create magic and panic on the dance floor. The dramatic melody break will take you on a journey, the gentle but effective bass and rhythmic patterns combination will shake your senses bringing you back to reality. Classic 1986 Original crossover Club hit Why Why Why by The Woodentops remixed for its 30th anniversary.
The Woodentops Why Why Why was in 1986 a floor filler In Ibiza played by DJ Alfredo and brought back to UK by the now super DJ's. It is for many DJ's, a career starter and pivotal record in the beginning of the club scene that gave us the Summer of Love in the mid to late 1980's. It was a live performance of a song played amongst electronic music in countless clubs around the globe.

Tonbe is back on his lovely label Disco Fruit with 4 new tunes, including one remix by well known Munich-based DJ and producer Alkalino. First tune on A side is Tonbe's powerful high-octane disco house tune with great bass guitar, clavinet and flute sections. This tune is definitely for the peak time wherever you play. Second tune on this side is remix by Alkalino who delivers other vision of this tune but with still energy as well. On B1 is "Feel The Night", one more big disco house tune from Tonbe who's already released on digital few months ago. Great vocal sample inside with bass guitar, guitar, string and disco tom sections....and last on B2 is Tonbe's classic disco track with wonderful string and lead synth.

After a string of successful disco and funk releases on Editorial Records, The Owl is back with his very own label. These sample heavy gems from the funk forest of yesteryear will soon see this nocturnal avian soar to modern disco peaks.

Next up are two exceptional disco remixes of The Salsoul Orchestra classics, Tale of Three Cities' and Tangerine', by Mike Maurro, whose recent The Mike Maurro Peak Hour Remixes box set has cemented the New York producer's reputation as one of the most respected disco remixers on the scene right now.Side A features Tale of Three Cities' (Mike Maurro Disco Remix), one of The Salsoul Orchestra's funkiest cuts, written by bass player Ron Baker for their debut LP. Maurro extends the arrangement to nine minutes, concentrating on the driving beat and rhythm section for the intro, subtly adding the guitar and keyboard parts before the first orchestral bridge at 1m36. Stripping back much of the orchestral elements throughout the mix he gives more space to the deftly executed solo guitar and keyboard passages and gives special attention to Vincent Montana's vibes, taking the dancer on a beautiful journey through the Salsoul sound concluding with an instrumental, ethereal outro.

Side AA features Tangerine' (Mike Maurro Disco Remix), Vincent Montana's skillfully rearranged version of the lilting Jimmy Dorsey pop standard which was the group's biggest pop hit, also from their debut LP. Adding a further 6 minutes to the original version, again Maurro respectfully gives the orchestration more room to breathe over the propulsive rhythm section, gaining patient momentum throughout while exposing the best instrumental elements of the original and sprinkling just the right amount of The Sweethearts of Sigma's vocal refrains on top. Both mixes were initially released on Groove Line's 3CD 40th Anniversary Salsoul Orchestra Anthology as exclusive tracks.

Son Dexter is a talented producer who released two fantastic eps on Larry Heard´s Alleviated in the early 2000´s. His influences are really extensive and diverse: deep house, funk, pop, hiphop, jazz, broken beat, rock, T-Bone Walker, Black Science Orchestra, Miles Davis, Lenny Kravitz, Al Di Meola, The Intruders...and you can feel that in this Eternity ep. When the canadian artist sent them this 4 tracks ep, the Downbeat guys could not believe what they was hearing here.

4 colourful and delicate pearls full of nuances, strength and optimism which reminds us that its possible still to find purity and unconditional love for music.
