The Florida based Brookside imprint have dug deep into the Philly master tapes and let NYC master-mixer Mike Maurro loose on a couple of stone cold classics from the catalog! Maurro, a Queens based DJ and mixer since 1986 has become one of the top remixers out there today with his own, faithful takes on numerous dance classics from the last 30+ years. Here, he tackles 2 cuts from Philadelphia International recording artists and Soul, Funk and Disco legends - Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes. "Bad Luck" takes up side-A of the 12", a glorious 13 minute remix that just oozes class. This one was made with DJ's in mind, extended drum breaks, elongated sections that squeeze every drop of sweet Philly Soul out onto the dancefloor. Side-B sees a fantastic mix of the evergreen classic "The Love I Lost", clocking in at just under 12 minutes. A slow burning version with the instrumentation and arrangements up front for the first few minutes before the track unfolds and Teddy's iconic vocals grace our eardrums. Incredible! These mixes are ESSENTIAL for any Disco/soul/Funk fans out there, unmissable for the DJ's, legitimately remastered and pressed onto high quality 12" singles in conjunction with all rights holders.

Early in 2014, Copenhagen's Kenneth Bager asked electronic wizard and remix entrepreneur Ruf Dug if he would make an album for his acclaimed Balearic imprint Music For Dreams. That summer, Ruf Dug headed off to spend three months on the island of Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean. Seizing the opportunity to live out his own Compass Point fantasy, he put together a portable studio that would fit into a suitcase - two half-rack synthesizers, a couple of effects units, his laptop and a 4-track cassette recorder. He set up the studio in the spare bedroom in a rented villa and spent the next 12 weeks watching the sun set and making the album. All tracks were written and recorded in Guadeloupe, with Nev Cottee beaming in vocals and guitar parts for a couple of the tracks direct from the heart of Mancunia, hooking into the powerful and long-standing musical relationship between Manchester and that most famous of sunset islands - Ibiza.
This is music not only for sunsets, but also for late-night smuggling adventures; for tropical storms and rum-soaked afternoons; for pirates, playboys and people like you and me.
The end result hopefully transports you to an island in the sun: neither Guadeloupe nor Ibiza particularly, but rather that island of the imagination, one we all escape to from time to time, no matter where we find ourselves. Welcome to 'Island' - the nine track debut album by Ruf Dug on Copenhagen's Music For Dreams.

Originally written for a quintet including heavily merited jazz cats Erik Nylander, Ole Morten Vågan, Petter Vågan and Even Helte Hermansen in 2013, The Mechanical Fair expanded at the initiative of the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, growing bolder and more powerful with the addition of the adventurous and Grammy-winning chamber orchestra The Trondheim Soloists in 2014.

Having just spearheaded seven genre-blending shows in just six days as the «Artist in Residence» of this years prestigious Molde International Jazz Festival, the multi award-winning Norwegian violinist/multiinstrumentalist, composer and producer Ola Kvernberg (35) can look back at an already impressive recording- and performing career. The once 17 year old jazz manouche violin sensation quickly and impatiently moved beyond the jazz realm for inspiration - resulting in seven albums as a solo artist, eight feature films as a movie score composer and countless additional recordings as a sideman. The reveries begin with a simple electrical hum - a starting signal for the appearance of a vibrant array of sound, shifting before us in seemingly random motion. Before we know it, all those pulsating melodies, razor-cut hifi-house beats and drunken robot jazz ensembles start forming into patterns, secretly & perfectly designed by one Art Alfie. A long time operator in Stockholm's small but insistent underground music scene, Oscar Wedrén broke through internationally in 2012 with the Karlovak project, founded with on-off studio and dj partner Rudolf Nordström, a.k.a. Mr. Tophat. The duo's inexplicably fresh takes on classic dance music tropes is as much a result of a brilliantly odd pairing of personalities as of a defined concept and a precise method in searching for the perfect house groove. While writing Reveries Of, released early spring 2017 through Studio Barnhus, Art Alfie freed himself of all conceptual footholds, delving instead deep into his archives of old and new memories and feels, working with improptu field recordings and emotionally-guided sampling processes. He came back with an intricate and personal debut album and he didn't lose his groove on the way.

Finnitus is back with its first 12" release! Spanning the entire A side, Superkind, consisting of Rulefinn and Kim Durbeck, delivers a driving Disco bass line, epic strings and screaming laughter, which The Glue dubbed as 'the weirdest thing we've heard in our entire lives'. On the flip, Rulefinn drops 'Just Try', a nine minute slow jam, slowly building to a climax worthy of finishing your perfect night at the club, and 'Let the OK music play', an intense Disco drum tool in his favourite bpm range(130s).

Consumer Manoeuvres by Le Cliché is the latest release on Cold Beats Records (Barcelona). This follows the debut release by Le Cliché, 'Consumer Behaviour' on the Seattle (USA) based label Medical Records in 2014 and its follow up in 2016 entitled 'The Product is You' on the Sincronica label (Valencia).
Le Cliché is the electronic music project of Gerard Ryan, professor of marketing at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. The music takes a critical view of the malaise of marketing and its effect on our postmodern consumer society. It deals with serious issues as diverse as consumer privacy, identity, fad diets, fast fashion and the hyper-reality of contemporary advertising. Yet it does so always with an optimistic sarcasm and playfulness.

With Evening Shadows, D.K. slowly unveils a very personal virtual landscape, letting us approach his island of dreams, while Ivory Forest already invites us to loose ourselves in a wood in which the babblings of synthetic birds can be heard. Play On is more of a beach affair, an invitation to rest on numeric sand in front of a digital sunset before a highly melancholic Journey To The Sun and an initiatory dive in a sea of pixels on Memories.

The music on Island Of Dreams is not designed for the dancefloors and Raindrops is the only housy excursion of the record, but it resonates with so much intensity and energy that the song wakes you up from the dream you've fallen into. Claudja Barry's cult "Love for the sake of love" gets Mike Maurro's magic remix treatment for the 7th release on Brookside Records. This is no ordinary edit or reworking though, Mike got his hands on the actual physical master tapes and turned in a refreshed, original mix of this sleazed out downtempo monster. Well known by underground Disco aficionados by it's inclusion on DJ Harvey's earth shattering and legendary "Sarcastic Study Masters" mix CD from 2001 this mid 70's Tom Moulton mixed number came out on Salsoul and caused quite a stir. This new mix really breathes new life into this stone cold classic, Mike utilises lots of alternative takes, vocal vamps and instrumentation from the original sessions giving us a version that's never been heard before! A completely new, original mix. If that doesn't get all you Disco fiends excited then something is seriously wrong!
On the B-side Mike takes Claudia's "Sweet Dynamite" into a new realm too, again using the master tapes to full effect to create a new, refreshed version of one of her more popular jams, A raucous, slamming club cut. Also released in 1976 and mixed again by Tom Moulton, Mike Maurro's version extends everything in just the right way! His rearrangements and remixes are always respectfully executed and it's clear that Mike understands and feels the tracks he works on. Again, another cult Disco cut reworked beautifully for 2016, essential stuff for all lovers of this kind of music, this release is simply unmissable. Mount Liberation Unlimited is formed of sunbeams, sockerbitar, and Swedes ! Chance members of a Stockholm-based band during their late teens, Tom Lagerman and Niklas Janzon found themselves peeling off from the pack to smoke and make Techno. Dreaming of a global dance music community in which artists are allowed anonymity, the two set out to service this secret society by soundtracking happy-making moments under the Mount Liberation Unlimited guise.
MLU's third release, (Eerie) For Your Love, developed organically and inversely from their live set into the studio. In this procedural fluidity, hypnotic live takes animate as tenacious tone, melody, and groove. MLU's method relies upon thee jam, the feeling shared in the moment, and then revisiting that friendzied magic.
This dedication to spontaneity is tempered by a naive faith in one another, an unspoken jibber jabber that melds two minds together in childlike harmony.
'(Eerie) For Your Love' is almost ten minutes of eccentric, eclectic, and electric crescendos. This loving intensification threatens to unravel into mania, not so much an eeriness as an uncanny, maddening of reality. The track is an itch that can't - and won't - be scratched, the sense of anticipation accumulating and splashing over everything when you find yourself relieved.
'Maiden Voyage' is informed by the impermanence that accompanies touring. The track is virginal yet determined, a youthful militancy marches it along the open road careening around the complicated crags. Though the track occupies fewer, more introspective grooves than its A-side brother, the shared experience between the two overflows in an almost sibling understanding.
Each 12" on Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. For (Eerie) For Your Love, Los Angeles artist Jen Stark spirals into three dimensional psychedelic space accurately depicting the love mania of the title track. .

Virginia steps up with her first full-length on Ostgut Ton, playfully answering all questions and rhetorics about love, lust and life with her singing on eleven new songs. Titled Fierce For The Night and co-produced by renowned artists Dexter, Martyn and Steffi, the album offers a very personal insight to her inner self while drawing from club culture's long and rich history.
Love, longing and lightness are the superior motifs of my album,' Virginia says, they're universal human emotions, but also part of the classic House music narrative.' There are two hearts beating in her chest: being an experienced DJ and a longstanding resident of Berghain's Panorama Bar on the one hand, and her other self, the vocalist, producer and songwriter on the other. My challenge was writing an album that works as well on the floor as it does in a home-listening context, that consists of songs rather than tracks,' she continues. Electronic music doesn't necessarily need a political message. On Fierce For The Night I've focused on club culture's basic principles: found and lost love, frenzy and extreme emotions.' You can fall in love with a person everywhere, but within club culture there are more abstract sentiments involved: The fierceness between crowd and DJ, the togetherness between people on the dancefloor, the love for a moment when people connect with a tune. What I like about the word 'fierce' is its ambiguity, in a positive and a gloomy way. Overall it has an explosive connotation, it's connected to the history of House music, divas and ballroom culture and stands not only for freedom and poise but also for challenges.'
After her first two solo EPs with Ostgut Ton the idea of putting her vocals more into the foreground grew inside Virginia. Throughout the years I've collected many notes and sketches on the road that I always wanted to write up.' Having worked on songs for many years before and having collaborated with others was another motivation to elaborate her songwriting and put it into a new context.
When I've approached a song from the music itself rather than the full lyrics, it was usually me improvising, humming along in a kind of fake English. Funnily most times when I choose this gibberish writing approach it all adds up in the end: the phonetic flow makes it work.' While lyrics are not random in the end, Virginia uses her voice as another instrument in the writing process. At times one word I pick is the starting point to develop the rest of the song and to add meaning. That's a different approach to songwriting, but it's a very much flow-driven way of writing.' An approach that also refers to and reflects Virginia's craft as a DJ, where records come in one at a time and not only need to connect to the one before and the one after, but also to the floor.
Yet Fierce For The Night isn't just a solo, but also a group effort. The eleven pieces on this longplayer are co-produced by Dutch artists Dexter, Martyn and Steffi, each bringing their individual compositional skills and musical styles to the table, with influences ranging from Funk, Boogie, Disco, UK Garage, Drum & Bass and House. Written and produced during various studio sessions, Fierce For The Night resulted in a broad range of melodies, rhythms and musical moods, while preserving a coherent vibe. It was important that the album didn't come out as a patchwork with every track having a distinctive signature sound. For us as a team there's a mutual understanding and an artistic vision we all share. We speak the same musical language. This isn't just limited to the studio, but also extends to the live context, as Dexter, Steffi and me will be performing live and touring the album as a group.'
Besides the personnel, Fierce For The Night is, music-wise, an album deeply rooted in club culture while staying approachable for listeners that might not be regulars on the dancefloor. A Pop album that playfully defies the schematic formulas of Pop music. There is dancing and muscles being flexed in Bally Linny', Lies', Funkert' and Raverd' (both serving as the album's lead-single on 12 vinyl), Follow Me' and the eponymous Fierce For The Night' - cheerful and energetic songs that can be played out over the course of a club set, but just as well click with home stereo or radio listeners. There are the bouncy, more break-heavy cuts such as 1977' and Obstacle'. And there are slower paced, balladesque songs like Believe In Time', Subdued Colors' and Han' that underline the bleak moments of life. All held together by Virginia's soothing, smooth and soulful singing voice.
And while all songs have personal stories behind Virginia's songwriting, there is also a classic Pop music narrative: making music approachable and offering meaning that people can connect to their own lives. Fierce For The Night is therefore first and foremost an album about relationships: A very personal reflection of Virginia's own experiences so far, but also about the once intimate, now loose connections between everyday people. Firmly placed in House culture, yet with open arms towards Funk and Pop culture, Fierce For The Night has a basic message: Go out, enjoy yourself, loosen up and take what's good for you.'

After a storming 2016 celebrating Twenty Years of Atjazz, where the master musician himself has spent the year jetting all over the globe performing shows to both loyal fans and new converts alike, Atjazz Record Company is very excited to crown this hugely successful year with a release like no other. Please allow us to present: That Something Else!.

We start with a real treat: the re-release of Atjazz's debut album, That Something, for the very first time on digital formats and never before re-issued. Originally released on the DiY Diversions and Sony (Kioon) labels in 1998, the album has been remastered and re-edited for the 21st century by Atjazz himself. Whilst each track has been delicately tweaked, special treatment has been given to the seminal effort, "Wind & Sea", taking an already well loved track to the next level.

Also included is a selection of previously un-released tunes from the basement archives here at ARCo. Labs. These gems were originally recorded onto digital audio tapes between 1995-97 but never unveiled. They have now had new life breathed into them and have found a welcome home in this celebratory work of Atjazz.

Finally we have included a collection of recovered and reclaimed works that were created in the early days of Atjazz's phenomenally productive career. With remixes from today's finest artists, including Nacho Marco, Charles Webster, Trueself, Si Tew and the master Atjazz himself, the only disappointment is that we couldn't include more from the extensive canon of this titan of house music.

Atjazz himself has expressed his own astonishment and gratitude at the level of love and support that he has received over the last 20 years. He has spent his life in the house music industry, quite rightly becoming the byword for high-production values, musical integrity and total commitment to creating music that not only moves the body but warms the soul. Here's to the next 20 years!

Claudio Coccoluto goes back to print with THE DUB Records

After spending over a decade in hibernation the Claudio Coccoluto's record label The Dub comes back to life with a new disco tinged offering from the label boss himself and sets the tone for a full schedule ahead.

Claudio Coccoluto is one of Italy's most famous musical sons; a DJ, producer, radio and TV show host and music writer. He plays all over the world at clubs and festivals as well as for brands like MTV and Peroni.

Using everything from the vintage sounds of Chicago and Detroit to the ultra-modern music coming out of Europe and everything else he hears around the world, Claudio Coccoluto is never afraid of experimenting with pioneering sounds and allowing others to be influenced by his never ending search for the next record.

Having evolved from engaing underground prospect into a fully established international DJ and producer in recent years, the time has now come for Huxley, born Michael Dodman, to release his debut album. Entitled Blurred, it will land on Will Saul's Aus / !K7.
Since debuting as Huxley five years ago, Dodman has continued to evolve and mature his sound in ways most cannot. Initially precipitating something of a garage house revival with his early EPs, ensuing releases on key labels like 2020 Vision, Hypercolour and Tsuba have seen him roam into percussive and deep house territories, but always with a fresh modern twist that has seen him find favour with a diverse array of press and peers from Pitchfork to Mixmag, Pete Tong to The Black Dog. One lead single from the album has already been premiered:
'Callin' is a collaboration between Huxley and house veteran Roger Sanchez in his revered S-Man guise and with its deeply infectious drum loops, earwormy vocal hooks and slick production is indicative of the album overall. Elsewhere the LP excels with original vocal performances from Yasmin (who has seen chart success working with Gorgon City), FEMME aka Laura Bettinson (a vocalist in Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich's
band, Ultraísta), Thomas Gandey and emering UK talent Obenewa.
Starting with the deeply emotive melodies and snug sub bass of 'I Want You', the album coherently unravels through fractured garage beats and classic LFO wobble, anthemic and idyllic pop leaning vocal cuts, screw face bass tracks and tough techno stompers. Tying it all together is a polished sheen, a deeply rooted musicality and Huxley's trademark sense of irresistible groove.
Certainly marking yet another step up in the musical evolution of Huxley, Blurred more than captures the contemporary dance zeitgeist: it truly defines it and will do so for plenty of time to come.

After the success of last year's multi-edition album release 'F O R M A T' via The Vinyl Factory, the critical acclaim of his 'Science Fiction Dancehall Classics' On-U Sound compilation and the 'Metal Dance' series for Strut, Trevor Jackson is back in 2016 with the long-awaited return of his much loved PLAYGROUP project.Inspired by the hedonistic early days of house, disco, post punk, electro and dub, these tracks reflect a unique moment in time', explains Trevor. Targeted directly at the modern dance floor, many of the tracks were freshly re-edited and tweaked with the assistance of Sasha Crnobrnja from In Flagranti. Ed DMX lends a helping hand on one track, two feature the vocals of Mike Z from the seminal new wave band Crash Course In Science, and a young Kieran Hebden (AKA Four Tet) plays guitar on the final EP's lead track.
Released as series of 9 limited edition vinyl-only EPs over a period of 9 weeks, the 30 tracks featured are a collection of reworked demos and unreleased recordings. Still sounding as relevant today as they did when initially created during the writing process of the debut PLAYGROUP album from 1997-2001.
Packaged in a collection of 9 individual sleeves that, as a full set, combine to make a single image featuring a photo by legendary photographer Bill Bernstein, they're as much a testament to Trevor Jackson's visual ability as his musical one.
PLAYGROUP'S self-titled debut album was released on the Virgin affiliated Source label back in 2001, then re-issued on Trevor's own Output recordings label in 2003. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with Mojo stating 'there will be few better albums this year' and The Face calling it 'a shuddering amalgamation of risky disco, punk-funk and early house vibrations'. Rolling Stone described 'perfect incandescent pop funk' whilst XLR8R dubbed it 'a concept album that does that rare thing - actually delivers'. Featuring Kathleen Hanna, Peaches, Gonzales, Edwyn Collins, KC Flightt, Rowettea, Roddy Frame, Dennis Bovell and Shinehead, the album played a key part in the rediscovery of modern dance music's foundations rooted in the 80's underground - something that still powerfully reverberates today.
Trevor Jackson has been working at the forefront of audio and visual culture for over 20 years. The London based Creative Director, moving-image maker, producer and DJ's work includes countless classic record covers, and has been exhibited at prestigious international galleries/museums like the ICA, the Barbican, and the Guggenheim. Jackson's iconic Output Recordings label ran from 1996-2006 and helped launch the careers of Four Tet and LCD Soundsystem. Trevor has produced and remixed Massive Attack, U2, The Cure, Tiga, Run DMC, Soft Cell and Dinos Chapman. He has created award-winning artwork for Soulwax and been commissioned to create audio visual works for major brands like BMW, Lexus and Coca Cola.
Jackson continues to DJ internationally at some of the world's finest locations such as Berghain/Panorama Bar, Salon des Amateurs, Robert Johnson, Watergate, The Rex, Lux, Fabric, Oval Space, The Roundhouse, The Warehouse Project, Sonar, Red Bull Music Academy, Primerva, Bennicassim, Glastonbury, LACMA, the Serpentine Gallery and Kraftwerk's Tate Modern residency.He also hosts a regular fortnightly radio show on NTS featuring the very best in brand new alternative underground music titled 'Music for Sick Minds and Warm Hearts'.

"Jungle Hideout" is the third album from California native Daniel Judd, aka Sorcerer. Dan has wide ranging Influences, from 80s electro-pop, disco, psychedelia, kraut-rock (Kraftwerk, Can etc.) through to 70s style "smooth music" like Steely Dan, ELO and Fleetwood Mac. Dan started his life as a founding member of San Francisco pop group "Call And Response", whose releases on Emperor Norton have garnered comparisons to Stereolab amongst others.Our debut 12" vinyl on the Real Balearic label was Sorcerers "Video Magic", its sunny vibes and top draw remixes really did the business back in the summer of 2016. Featured on the album "Video Magic" is one the albums "endless summer" grooves. The lazy guitar of "Pop Harder", The shimmering chords of "Secret Agent" and the smooth picked lines of "Master Cruncher" the others to complete the Balearic sun quotient on this album.Tracks such as the Xylophone festooned "Afro Heaven", the leftfield crunchy beat "Kookerz" and the staccato punch-drunk groove of "Revenge of The Ninja" all show the quirky, inventive directions that Dan has been able to experiment with on his third album.Cuts such "Intimacy File" (with a middle 8 to die for), "Summer Sleaze" & "Watercolour Jungle" notch up the tempo and merges west coast LA 80's style production sheen with 2017 laid back disco.11 tracks brimming with invention, mindful-funk, conviction and a high level of production sheen that we come to expect from Sorcerer.

Groove Line Records series of officially licensed disco / funk 12' reissues continues with two incredible cuts from the Nu-Yorican Soul/R&B/Jazz singer-songwriter Angela Bofill - 'People Make The World Go 'Round' and 'Under The Moon And Over The Sky.'

'People Make The World Go 'Round' sees Bofill and her producers at GRP Records (label heads Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen) take Al Bell and Linda Creed's classic 1972 smash for The Stylistics firmly on to the dance floor. Taken from Bofill's second LP for GRP, 1979's Angel Of The Night, Bofill, and pianist/arranger Ray Chew take 'People...' into an up-tempo jazz/funk realm, central to which is the propulsive off-beat and dynamic, driving funk bass line. Chew decorates the groove with deft horn, string and keyboard parts that match Bofill's urgent, forceful interpretation of the lyric, while bright Latin percussion is added to the chorus's and even more so during the instrumental passage from 1m40s. From there Bofill and her backing singers chime the title refrain over the magnificently named Tinker Barfield's incessant bass line to the track's close at just under four and a half minutes.

'Under The Moon And Over The Sky,' the opening track from Bofill's 1978 debut for GRP, Angie, is an expansive deep jazz composition penned by the singer herself which brings to mind the music of Jon Lucien. Revealing Bofill's jazz roots this 5m43s track is strongly influenced by her Cuban father's musical background. Complex percussion and the song's challenging structure exemplifies Bofill's song-writing talent. Initially dextrous keyboards and flute drift over the Latin percussion before Bofill delivers her sophisticated, poetic lyric which subtly rises over the arrangement. In the mid-section Bofill shows off another talent, scatting along with the flute and percussion in majestic, shimmering style before bringing the track to a close by revisiting the tile refrain, and leaving the listener breathless.

All Groove Line Records releases are fully licensed and taken from the original master tapes, remastered by Nick Robbins at Sound Mastering, and cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy (Mastering Engineer of the Year 2013). 'The Light' is the first taste of the weird world created by American vocalist Craig Louis Higgins Jr. and French composer Marc Nguyen Tan. Marc is best know for recording under the name Colder for Trevor Jackson's OUTPUT in the 00s. 2016 see's him back after a ten-year hiatus with two records, the Save! LP and a new Colder one called 'Turn Your Back'.
Forthcoming on Les Disques De La Mort, Save! mines similar terrain to David Lynch's surreal landscapes.
Marc's collaborator Craig Louis Higgins Jr. was born in Cape Cod, MA. He has released his debut album '336 W 17th St.' under the name Mutado Pintado and is also known for contributing the wry vocals to acid house outfit Paranoid London, featuring on their 2014 self-titled album.Like Higgins, Tan is also a painter and video artist. Although the pair only met in person recently, months after establishing Save!, the project is well served by Tan's background as the solitary creative force in Colder. Just what Higgins and Tan are here to save is anyone's guess. It's a name that implies much yet remains elusive and misleading. That's the way the pair prefer it.The debut 12' release comes with a remix by Hivern Disc's Marc Piñol. B1 of the 12' sees Marc re-edit the track under a new moniker Judy Vs Save!, while Les Disques De La Mort boss Ivan Smagghe contributes an edit for side B2.

Back once again with the renegade masters, To Rack & Ruin romp on, bringing ill behaviour and dance floor damage wherever they go.This twelfth instalment of the heady edit series sees Mancunian maverick Neil Diablo invite The Rejected and Que Sakamoto to tackle a side each on this floor flaying four tracker.
Italian newcomer The Rejected may be a man of mystery right now, but as soon as you've copped an earful of his body shaking A-side, you'll be stalking him like an ex on Facebook! He kicks off the set with the tumbling toms of 'Gambling In The 70s', a feel good groove which leads the conga line on a precise path between parmesan and taleggio.
Making expert use of percussive breakdowns and reverb heavy rests, The Rejected revels in the cruise ship orchestration and camp euro vocals without ever letting the pecorino overpower the pasta - buono! Leaving the glam and glitter of the A1 behind, the Italian edit maestro takes us deep on A2 offering 'Lucky Lucio', working a low slung bassline, wah guitar and hushed psyche vocals into a slow burning funk bomb perfect for the warm up or post peak. Additional synth work and a dynamic arrangement light make this wonky wonder stand taller than the Tower of Piza, taking the dance floor on a tile-eyed trip from start to finish.
The B-side belongs to Japanese disco kingpin Que Sakamoto, who takes a break from rocking the decks with Psychemagik, Crazy P and the ALFOS crew at his legendary Huits Etoiles club night in Tokyo, to bring the party to your turntable. 'Mr Moonlight' makes an instant impression, slicing some familiar piano chords over a squelching funk guitar and propulsive bassline to get those fists pumping from the off.
As the track progresses, the producer introduces star gazing synth licks, psychedelic solos and a chugging groove blasting us into a distant dance floor dimension. We've barely caught our breath from that unbridled ecstasy before Que freaks us out again, dropping us headfirst into the full blooded funk of 'Salut Des Frangines'. Powerhouse percussion and heavy duty wah guitar take the lead here, blazing bright over tasty organ licks and rumbling bass, before dropping out completely for an fx heavy breakdown in the second half. So dope you could smoke it!

Brazilian Shakedown is back!
The second release in this series brings you a collection of outstanding mixes by Rio de Janeiro's own Carrot Green.
On the A Side you'll find 'Ponto Gira', which already is an underground anthem in Brazil. The traditional chanting, combined with CG's super groovy production will certainly also smash the European dance floors this summer. Good vibes galore!
Straight after there's 'Movimento'. In this tune Carrot Green transforms roots music from the North-East of Brazil into an intense dance track, which mesmerizes with its passionate vocals and violin played in peculiar unison.
The B Side takes off with a heavy nu-disco remix of 'Mariama'. The acidic bassline, calling vocals and wide synth-chords will make you feel like flying over the Brazilian seashore. The final destination of this journey leads you to the bass heavy 'Capoeira', where the classic Berimbau and hypnotic call-and-response vocals get dirty over a stomping groove.
