When thinking Balearic, there is a name that should strike you right away. No, not Ibiza itself, but the man responsible for producing and curating some of the lushest sunset music the White Island has ever heard - Steve Miller, perhaps most commonly known as Afterlife.Making a name for himself in the early 2000's by playing monumental events such as Glastonbury, headlining Cafe Del Mar's 20th anniversary party and reaching the top of the UK charts by remixing Another Chance from Roger Sanchez, he's managed a consistency unlike many others in the decade and a half since. Releasing standout classic albums such as "Simplicity Two Thousand" and "Speck of Gold", his music has been released on the premiere labels of the time, such as Hed Kandi and Defected, while also being featured on numerous compilations to date. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he's also managed to attract some of the best in the business to work with him, namely K-Klass, Jose Padilla, Chris Coco and an almost inconceivable amount of others. Lately, Steve has shifted his output to his own record label, Subatomic UK, averaging an album release every two years over the past six years.
This time Steve looks to build a bridge to the dance floor, with a pair of remixes released on a 12" with one of the lead singles ahead of the album. 'Give It Up' gets the treatment from two of the underground's current finest. WOLF Music's Medlar changes up the percussion and gives it a more tropical flare, all the while using the main arpeggiated elements of the original, adding his own airy synth work and groovy bassline that's just bound to set dancefloors on fire. The second rework comes from Futureboogie's mainstay Christophe.
Choosing to work with atmospheric strings and vocals, this version utilizes plenty of the producer's own groovy ingredients. Managing to inject some funk into his take, the bassline and disco toms give it a fresh, playful vibe that pleasantly contrasts the original. The remix 12" is set to hit shops first as a teaser to the full product in mid -June, with the album following closely behind.

Kalita Records are extremely excited to announce their second release, Okyerema Asante's Ghanaian disco monster, 'Sabi (Get Down)'. After touring the world and recording with both Hugh Masekela and Oneness of Juju, 'Sabi (Get Down)' was Okyerema's first solo record, released privately in limited numbers on his label Atumpan Records in 1980/1. Recorded and manufactured in the USA, but only ever released on the African continent, this self-funded, scarce, and brilliant afro-disco LP regularly exchanges hands for eye-watering prices.
This is the first time that 'Sabi (Get Down)' has ever been officially reissued, and we are happy to reproduce it in its original, 14 minute long form (check out Lady Eke Ete's amazing vocals at the 13 minute mark!), backed by the equally impressive 'That's My Girl' on the B side. In addition, we are glad to accompany it with extensive interview-based liner notes and never-before-seen photos, detailing Okyerema's career from his membership of Ghana's legendary band Hedzolleh to performing with Paul Simon and Fleetwood Mac twenty years later.

2019 REISSUE ORIGINAL ART!! - The second edition of our Classic Series comes in a 2018 Reissue also! From 40 Thieves and is all about their fantastic cover version of one of our alltime disco favourites, 'Don't Turn It Off' from Hot Chocolate, with the amazing Qzen on the mic. And for the first time all remixes and versions are finally on one vinyl, plus the Greg Wilson Dub Edit is exclusive to this release. The Original Version came out in 2008 on Permanent Vacation, followed by the Brennan Green Remix, that came out on vinyl on his own Chinatown imprint, and the Greg Wilson Edit first appeared on his Credit To The Edit compilation 12 sampler. All three records sold out a long time ago.

Here comes Argoman, the antihero of disco music. Inspired by the 1960s b movie super hero Argoman, the name literally means lazy man, however it's also a combination of three Italian producers' names, who started the project about one year ago. The track Chimicalissimo merges the vibrant rhythms of disco with the emotional approach of modern electronic music. It's a peak-time dancefloor banger completely produced with analog synths and drum machines. The tune is a proper voyage between syncopated rhythms and heavy basslines soaked with synth melodies that often recall IDM progressions. The dub version gives more space to a melancholic piano melody that culminates through analog arpeggios to an unstoppable build. Black Spuma remix finally turns the track into a slow burning disco monster.

Natasha Kitty Katt returns with a new, two-tracker 12" for Masterworks Music. The Multi-talented mistress of disco has been wreaking havoc on dance floors all over the place with her infectious sets at Liverpool Disco Festival, The Southport Weekender and this year's SunceBeat in Tisno, Croatia. Not to mention having recently solidified her own imprint, Ghetto Disco Records, she's also been flexing her talents in the studio with recent releases on Hot Digits, Tribe UK and now, Masterworks Music.

The Disco Vibrations ep comes with two sides of pure dancefloor heat with "24 Hour Sesh" up to bat first. Co-Produced by Krane, this high tempo burner features a relentless, pumping bass groove and loads of those quintessential disco-strings. Jubilant vocal chops chant, screech and howl for the party to continue "all night and day" while filtered piano riffs keep the disco fires burning bright.

Flipping over we get "After The Dance," which offers a similar approach to it's A-Side counterpart. Taking on a deeper, sub bassline, things get even groovier once layers of sampled vibes and cosmic synths chirp and swoop all throughout the tracks six minute run time.

Second release on new LA based Pleasure of Love label, Barcelona's Pau Roca on editorial duties. Soulful disco grooves and rare south african funk are subtly retooled, teased out, and extended to perfection for DJ use. Born out of a dingy basement club in Hollywood, Pleasure of Love has grown from anything goes disco house party to adventurous re-edit label.
Reworks reflect the spirit of the party and limited pressing of 300 matches the capacity of the venue that holds it each week.

Tempo Dischi is an italian label created on a mission to discover and repress classics and rare gems of the italo disco, afro and cosmic scene. With the support from all the main players who has made that era magic, we work to put back on records stores shelves a piece of art that may have been lost but it's still timeless. The first release is one of the key projects of the underground Italo Disco scene, probably not the most famous one, but surely it is among the most loved one by DJs and connoisseurs: Steel Mind.

'It was the end of the '70s and at that time Disco Music was very popular. I was in a band called Caelestium, and we were playing in the most important clubs in Italy…Around the beginning of the 80s, I started to feel the desire to make a different kind of sound and I decided to start my solo project creating songs like 'Boss Man' and 'Lionel' that were closer to the Krautrock style' recalls Piero Torsani, the producer behind this project.

These songs have become a cult for many djs, including Daniele Baldelli, Beppe Loda and Alexander Robotnick and they still sound contemporary. The Tempo Dischi collective is responsible of a club friendly edit of 'Boss Man'. And after a deeper search into Pietro Torsani's original music archive, an unreleased track has surfaced we could not resist to give to the world: 'Summer in The City' featuring the voice of Marisa Lucà , at that time singer of Caelestium.

A new year means new musical horizons here at the Bordello. Curses formed his sound in the distortion and sweat of back alley dive bar bars amidst the crash of guitars and the audible gulp of beer. Hints of disco and wave balance this rougher edge, smoothing down those creased lines for a style that adheres to no boundaries. 'Pedal To The Metal And Don't Look Back' is a perfect introduction to Curses' multifaceted sound. Beats orbit burbling bass and brash strings in a work of dreamy hypnotics. 'Knife in Teeth' comes from a similarly shadowy lair. Dark bars are further inked by industrial percussion in a track born on the factory floor to strict EBM parents. Terr takes on 'Pedal To The Metal And Don't Look Back' and does the original proud. Bass rumbles to the tune of a guttering engine before lighter notes take hold. Murky currents are cleared by bright synth blasts in this uplifting remake. The Bird of Paradise closes the EP with his psychedelic take on 'Knife in Teeth.' Drums take on a more sinister tone as tribal rhythms give rise to jungle imagery and the immediate threat of what might lurk behind those supposedly innocent sounds.

Based in Colombia's capital Bogota, Felipe Gordon is an artist on a very rapid ascent. He is one of the champions of the Colombian house movement effortlessly fusing complex sound combinations from Jazz samples to flowing pianos and acid bass lines into hugely exciting house records. It's a sound which comes together perfectly to create tracks which have been moving dance-floors worldwide over the last couple of years. Felipe has already released a string of hugely well regarded tracks and worked on remixes for some of the coolest labels out there including Toy Tonics, Quintesentials, S3A and his own Nómada Records. We are happy he contributed 4 amazing tracks for Shir Khan's Vinyl Black Jukebox Series.

Jules Etienne is back on Cocktail d'Amore Music with Triangle Des Bermudas.Referencing the legendary region in the Western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, this EP opens up to a mysterious space of adventure and discovery.The title track is a down tempo, balearic, and mystical ballad. Sounding like a ship moving slowly, but fiercely toward unexplored territories. The toms resemble a voice coming up from the depth of the sea, the pads like fluffy clouds reflecting off the waves. Massimiliano Pagliara is on remix duty, blowing on the sails and taking the ship into a cosmic expedition. This is deep and dreamy house music with cascading string lines combining effortlessly with hypnotic drums.
A driving arpeggio melts sweet and delicate with celestial strings, dreamlike vocals and breezy percussions in Cuban Omelette. While John's Job is a vivid dialogue between hand percussions, echoed toms and a sturdy baseline.

August 2018: It's already been three years since Domenique Dumont made its entrance in the music world with a debut EP named Comme Ca. Despite a seemingly very quiet musical activity (the opening song to Antinote's compilation Five Years Of Loving Notes was the only song released by the band in 3 years) a few things have changed in-between these two summers: Domenique Dumont is no more the mysterious lone French producer we introduced last time but a Latvian duo, Arturs Liepins and Anete Stuce, which has been collaborating with 'an enigmatic French artist whose existence cannot be confirmed nor denied' (sorry, but it sounds like there's still some mystery in the air, and, again, we're just as clueless as you might be), the duo have been touring live and, most importantly, they kept on broadening their musical palette experimenting in a definitely pop field. Eight of these experiments are now tied together in Miniatures de Auto Rhythm.

The record probably begins where Comme Ca ended: frantic but light drum programing backbones a solar and slightly melancholic melody on Le Début De La Fin ('the beginning of the end'). However, the scope gets enlarged as soon as one reaches the second tune, Quasi Quasi, or Quand, on the flip side, perhaps the most overtly pop-rock oriented song on the record with its Mediterranean guitar and emotional bridge.

The road towards the apex of the record, Le Soleil Dans Le Monde, is a narrow and windy one, punctuated by toy instrumentals like Ono Mambo Haiku or the Donkey Kong Country-friendly Message Of The Diving Bird; however it never departs from its original tongue-in-cheek attitude. It's quite pleasant to imagine these eight 'miniatures' as field recordings from an enchanted world of pop music designed by some Pierre & Gilles' disciples - or are there
musical interpretations of half-mechanical, half-organic creations from a certain Otto Rhiesem (who might have inhabited the Locus Solus villa) There might be no definitive answers to this second set of riddles by Domenique Dumont.

Born the 26th of October 1956 in Aïn Azel near the Algerian city of Sétif, Nordine Staïfi, real name Larbi Smati, was very young when he emigrated to the French Chambéry region.
After having recorded 'Sraoui' style songs, his real devotion as a singer took place in 1978 when publishing the song 'El Ghorba S'hiba', a disco version of a traditional East-Algerian piece. This song would revolutionize the modern Algerian music, and made Nordine one of its most important protagonists of the 1980s.
For nearly ten years he dedicated himself to the modernization of his music, traversed by the themes of exile, love and the nostalgia of his country.
Nordine Staïfi died prematurely on December 17th 1989 in France, at the age of 33.

Four new tracks, offering various perspectives on Dukwa's taste for squeezing that last bit of juice out of a sample that brings to mind Carl Craig's Paperclip People project and Thomas Bangalters Trax On Da Rocks series.His devil may care one take approach to recording his tracks always ensures you're in for some wildness - stray frequencies, the random attack of the 303, extra heavy kicks all play a role here.
However making grayscale festival fodder house is not Dukwas thing. This is music made on raw intuition and a timely reminder that house and techno in 2018 can still be fun and full of surprises if you put your back into it.

From Conrad Schnitzler in the 1960s to the pioneers of Detroit techno in the 1980s, experimental sonic artists were often inspired by the metallic noises of industrial factories. Schnitzler wanted to recreate the sounds he heard in his apprenticeship as a locksmith with musical instruments, and the sons and daughters of the midwestern automobile-industry generation programmed the motown soul into Japanese electronic music equipment. With his new piece The Metal Beat EP, Credit 00 wants to get in line with this tradition of transforming factory sounds into music. Each of the three tracks reflects on the role of the human being in an industrial environment. The never-ending movement of the machine becomes the rhythm, while the melody embodies our forlorn voices in the vastness of the factory site. The blues played by machines--modern work songs for a post-industrial society!

NYC party boys HOMAGE first foray into the label game comes via a four track EP from Brighton-based producer Tech Support - who, with no discography to his name aside from a couple self-released EPs on Bandcamp, is also essentially making his debut here. The Tech Support formula, as is displayed on this EP, combines bangin' and funky percussion with classic disco-boogie flavors to craft modern mid-tempo tracks that are nicely beefed up for the dance floor.

Studio Barnhus regular Your Planet Is Next makes his album debut on Mixed Up with his most personal and varied outing yet. Keeping his hazy acid house swing as main palette, here YPIN expand its vision adding elements of pastoral ambient and downtempo over his well-honed mixture of 303 basslines and skeletal rhythms. Somewhere between the early LFO and Sweet Exorcist bleep era ('Molten Smile', 'Powernap'), with extra dose of No Wave ('Huggteknik') and stoned ambient ('Trainspotting'). Session Victim can do no wrong in our eyes. Not only do they run an absolutely brilliant vinyl-only label known as Retreatwith the help of fellow Berliner Quarion. Not only do they play an amazing live set which has seen recent fans at London's Corsica Studios get so worked up they started crowd-surfing. Not only were they responsible for last years' underground hit Good Intentions which is so good it had Move D in tears as he closed a festival set with it last summer. On top of all this they're the nicest and most focused couple of chaps you ever did meet. In short, we're very proud and happy to be presenting their debut LP The Haunted House Of House on our humble label. As with our last LP from the mighty 6th Borough Project, we have made the LP available as both a beautifully packaged triple pack vinyl as well as CD.

Opening track Dark Sienna sets the mood and serves as a good taster of what you can expect from their highly accomplished debut. We're talking looped up deep-disco territory here with a lovely mid-tempo rolling groove driven along by open hats and a square wave bassline, lush string sections and dubbed vocal hits all adding heat to the mix.

Zoinks continues the theme with the perfect balance of organic drums, dusty stabs and a healthy dose of solid gold machine-funk. Push Comes To Shove follows, upping the pace slightly and resulting in one of the more obvious floor friendly cuts (or should i say as obvious as it gets with Session Victim!).

Next up is the more laid back yet still seriously head-nodding vibe of Alpine Glow on which the SV boys even manage to make a cut-up Mark King-esque slap bass sample sound good! Haunted House dives straight in next with an uptempo jam featuring a heavy disco groove and compressed pads laced with subtle arpeggiating acid lines. Some Balearic vibes are offered up next as things continue with Cow Palace and Bison until we're hit with a special new LP version of Good Intentions, the original having been only available on vinyl so far.

Time to shake things up a bit next with a definite highlight of the LP - Light Scent of Decay. As the acronym of the title suggests we are heading straight into psychedelic territory with this beautiful 9 minute and 40 second long live jam drawing us deep into its pleasantly off-kilter confines. Next the boys drop it down a bit for Fine, which sees the duo opt for some headnodding hip hop vibes. And finally we have the spellbinding Flying Visit to leave us on a total high.

Coming on like some long-lost Nightmares On Wax classic, we are treated to a gentle Balearic beauty which should leave you in no doubt that you're in capable hands with Session Victim at the helm.

Funnuvojere is the new imprint founded by Massimiliano Pagliara. Now marking his third album release, after countless remixes and EPs, the Panorama Bar resident widens the horizon of his musical contributions by launching a label "deep as the ocean" as the name suggests, and open to different musical genres. The first instalment comes from James Booth. Known also as The Gardener and North Vest, the Manchester born producer has been known for his distinctive deep sound very dear to Los Angeles based imprint 100% Silk and Hamburg's Growing Bin Records that released his latest LP in 2017. "Bath Time" is a thrillingly deep-cosmic cut rich in melodies and emotions. The EP starts off with a spaced-out, italo classic cut where form assumes a different dimension as the music layers intertwine in an everlasting flow. If the title track seems ironically like a perfect place to start a party night, "Roller Chrome" is an emotional ballad for hopeful dance floors; while "Such Is Life" is a nostalgic piece of balearic tradition.
