Ramona is happy to present "The Video Dead", Chinaski's debut-EP for Live At Robert Johnson.

Originally hailing from the high north of Germany - Rostock - near the rough and stormy sea, the young man with interests in 80s video-aesthetics and vintage synthesizers is now calling Offenbach his home-turf. Chinaski's EP starts out with "Time To Kill" - a straight forward hypnotizing jacker directly heading to the synthesized happiness. "Midnight Workout" features a different side to the young talent - sensitive placed synth harmonies packed in a vintage-pop interlude. After a journey through more harmonious domains, "Night School" turns the page again and picks up on those synth-waves and put Ramona away from her calm drive through the midnight heat, right on the dance-floor - mesmerizing analogue deep-house-vibes all over the place. "Hide Society" steps out of context and mixes Chinaski's affection for the warmth of these marvelous synth-sounds with trippy post-breaking - or even proto-hip-hop - sounds topped off with a weird vocal sample. The title-track "The Video Dead" summons all emotional power Ramona could implant into a synthesizer - the heartbeat-like reduced kick-drum and hi-hats floating around the track are mostly incidental or not even there for the ears. Purely visual.

Here is the first offering of Rock Sucks! a label where forgotten disco and boogie will finally get its revenge.

These two gems were made in 1983 and they've been ignored for far too long.

The mighty SHOW-B contributed a versatile peak time re-work.

On the white island, between Ibiza Town and the infamous fish shack high up on a rock next to a bird sanctuary, you will find the beach of Talamanca. Plagued by too much seaweed, anchored middle-class yachts and joggers, it is also surprisingly the spiritual home of a correspondent post-Balearic group. As luck would have it, a remix request by Mark Barrott bedded the International Feel boss in a trio with Philipp Lauer and Gerd Janson, alias Tuff City Kids. A highly sought-after 12-inch later ("Balanzat"), as well as fantasies of getting together to work on more material, led to a fruitful and effortless studio session on the non-Balearic outskirts of Frankfurt am Main.

The outcome of that meeting forms the homonymous debut album of Talamanca System. A documented vision, or a sunburned imagination of a day and night spent on said island, during a moment in time that probably never was or will be. Still summed up best by dungarees, long hair, yellow sunglasses, espadrilles or that famous picture of people grouped around roofless Amnesia's pyramid well, it is the food of the Balearic gods. But, dear nostalgia, stop right here! Even though Talamanca's debut flies the Balearic flag, it is not about turning back the clock, but rather about a past that could be the future. Dusted, danceable, driving, dreamy and dapper at the same time, this is an album for the club, the car, the beach, the (coke)float and the fountain.

Coined by the colourful and respective talents of the three individuals behind Talamanca, you will hear nine tracks ranging from up to downtempo, piano house smashers that would have deserved the prefix Italo-, percussion rituals captured by a group of Zoo animals on the loose, soundtracks for dusk and dawn, hushed vocals, rites of ambient passages, powerful synth ballads and vamp choirs. If this album were a car, it would be a Citroen 2CV remade by Tesla.

It’s no secret that the Irish know how to party. That energy is epitomised in the bubbling scene of homegrown talent rising through the ranks all over the island. House of Disco, having recently moved back to the Irish shores, let loose their first 4 track sampler EP in 7 years, ‘Home Turf’, showcasing the best in under-represented young Irish producers.

Taking the first slot, Dublin’s LPM hones in on that signature HoD sound with some expertly interlaced late ‘70s samples, reworked and repackaged into a bomb of a filtered, disco house, hand-raiser that’s got sunshine stamped into it’s very core. Newbridge locals, Mix & Fairbanks then offer up a deep, synth-laden gem, drenched in weighty stabs, analogue melodies and squiggling top lines.

On the flipside, the young gun from Killarney, Shee gets soulful for ‘Me You Us’ with low-slung vocal samples and hazy pads layered over the top of swirling disco loops. Lastly, Wicklow native Purple Ice signs off this killer Irish EP with a blissful, piano infused groover that’s eyes closed ecstasy from start to finish.

It's a melting pot of park jam throwback energy at its finest, and is a guaranteed hoot to the last drop.

Fantastic Voyage kicks off the first vinyl focused label, Fantastic Wax, with Hong Kong based vinyl aficionado, and owner of Pharmacy Records and Fauve Radio, Romain FX. Inspired by his love and respect for African music and it's deep roots, Romain approached it with a modern mindset to give a second life to the tracks that we're disappearing due to the lack of accessibility and rarity of these records.

After a string of succesful singles, “Deixa Musica A Tocar”, “So Vejo Voce”, “E A Felicidade” and the Dj Harvey supported “ Te Faz Bem” and “Serei Seu”, The Danish / Brazilian quartet constellation Copenema (Copenhagen / Ipanema = Copenema) are ready to release their debut album “Deixa Musica a Tocar”.
The album mixes European electronica influences with Brazilian songwriting style. The sound becomes unique and some would say Balearic.The albums leading single “Te Faz Bem” a funky downtempo track with live saxophone, flute and rhythm guitars and a baseline to die for has become somewhat a national Ibiza balearic anthem over the past years and spread worldwide especially due to the massive support from Djs incl from Harvey to Dj Pippi to Pete Tong. “Serei Seu” the second single another Ibiza fave is a funky party track that sounds like a modern Jorge Ben. The single “So Vejo Voce” is Stan Getz meets the beach vibes, “Festa De Relaxamento” an Alfredo fave is jazzy Brazilian funk vibes with heavy live drums and a bass line that wants you to move.
“Lullaby For Impanema” is sunset material. The bands first recording the 12 min beautiful jazzy cosmic downtempo Pat Metheny influenced and Leo Mas supported “Some Di Some Day” is pure bliss and a sunset fave amongst the Balearic community.
The album has three added bonus tracks (Vinyl Only) - Can’t Sleep and Nada Mais both recorded in a Music For Dreams writers camp recently and the 12 minute journey of Serei Seu by Danilo Braca

Salsoul opens the vaults once more to today's top editors and remixers. This incredible 12" sees Australian editor supreme Dr.Packer take the reigns.
Side A sees the good Dr tackle Loleatta Holloway's massive 'Hit & Run' to devastating effect, and Aurra's boogiefied 'Such A Feeling', taking these classic dance cuts into a new dimension, essential DJ weapons right here. Over on side B we have Salsoul Orchestra's evergreen early 80's jam 'Take Some Time Out' being tweaked and The Jammers 'Be Mine Tonight', another total killer from the vaults.

Notorious disco protagonist, DJ and producer, Al Kent returns with his latest dance-floor tour de force. His updated take on 'Gold Wave' is a tasteful reinterpretation of Japanese producer Waq Takahashi's tribute to the soulful roots of vintage disco.
Clocking in at an epic 11+ minutes it's wholesome, uplifting and unsurprisingly reminiscent of a classic Walter Gibbons rework. With incredibly tight musicianship and accomplished production, complimented by soaring orchestration, It's hard to believe this was recorded in Japan in the 21st Century and is not some long lost Vince Montana recording that's been gathering dust in a New York recording studio since 1976!

Kanot is Jesper Jarold and Anton Kolbe. With their wide open ears and sharp sense of adaptation they have been involved in some of the last year’s most interesting Swedish musical acts - Fontän, Tross, Uran Gbg, Ultra Satan among others. With the help of Lindha Kallerdahl’s expressive vocals, Jarold and Kolbe weave an eclectic yet durable sonic textile. Call it music for psychadelic hiking, primitive dance beats or speculative folk music - most of all, it is unrestrained music, for the smartest and the dumbest kid in the classroom. In the dense, and at the same time airy production, some drums anchor themselves steadily into the ground while others lash out like reverberating rhythmic gunshots. The tones from Jesper’s guitar and fretless bass float like leaves on the Drangme Chhu River, at times almost drowning in effects only to resurface in surprising and skillfully chiseled melodies that could play forever. This Höga Nord Rekords 7” is just a teaser of an exciting collaboration of which we have yet only seen the opening credits!

'Palais' is a 12 track multi-faceted exploration of Kris Baha's musical sensitivity. The one man band's namesake LP title, 'Palais' is based around the concepts of alienation, detachment, melancholia and lust. All songs written, performed, recorded and mixed by Kris between 2015 - 2018 in Berlin, laced in his signature industrial sound. 'Palais' encompasses a range of shades from dance-floor works ' Living Nothingness', 'Brink Reality (Part 2)' & 'Non For The Sane' to experimental cinematic undertones 'You Told Yourself This Would Get Worse'. Also embodied are modern classics like the machine funk metallics of 'Steel Sands' and 'Defied', a year 2042 cyber punk hit. There's even a dark room inspired theme for the black leather lovers. From his own batch of psychedelia to post-punk and electronic romanticism this album is full of surprises and we at Cocktail d'Amore Music are absolutely proud to present this outstanding work.

The Lehult Sub series returns with two breezy summer jams by Erobique, Hamburg local legend and renowned keyboard wizard. His live sets are the stuff of mythical tales and his release schedule would be best described as mischievous, being involved in many projects under diverse monikers. This one is full-on Erobique, then: raw, live and spontaneous on a hand-stamped, vinyl only Lehultsub release ready to make a splash.

Leifur James released his debut album A Louder Silence in October 2018 on Late Night Tales original artist label Night Time Stories; home to Texan trio Khruangbin and the iconic Late Night Tales series. The record attracted immediate support from Pitchfork, KEXP, XLR8R, Mixmag 8/10, Future Music UK 9/10, Electronic Sound 9/10. In April 2019 ‘Wurlitzer’ was the first piece of music he revealed from a new creative period after those sessions. The video was created by animator/director Balázs Simon, premiering on Boiler Room and was nominated for the BMVA Berlin Music Video Awards in the experimental music category, airing at the British Film Insitute BFI Southbank London.

Now in September 2019 he has prepared a remix EP 12" of the debut album A Louder Silence, featuring a slew of the finest musicians in electronic music today. Blueberry Records founder FaltyDL aka Drew Lustman comes first with a deep, skipping 2-stepping reversion of Mumma Don’t Tell. Bruce coming off the back of his hugely well received debut album for Hessle Audio has a “resymph” of Osho in typical mind-bending austere electronic style. Whities producer and Tirzah/Mica Levi collaborator Coby Sey reconstructs Suns of Gold with his sampler, and also accompanying it, is Leifur’s own remix of suns of Gold.

On the flip Rahaan lays down an early 80's boogie theme that heads probably might recognise. But check that build-up...wow!

UK based Tecwaas background is in the early Yorkshire rave scene, which makes you understand his music on a deeper level. His tasteful turning of knobs on the Roland 303 takes you back to in time to an early morning somewhere round 1990 with a diesel generator pushed to the limit roaring somewhere in the background. But Tecwaas music is a lot more than a trip in time: the sound is modern and extremely well produced where the few but exquisite sounds hook in to each other naturally and creates a round solid groove. The sound varies from airy and light in ”Xentaeh” to warmer and heavier in the other track ”Ci”. What goes for the sound overall is the somewhat surprising elements in how the songs develop, both in rhythm and sound wise. Teecwas music bare traces of trance, rave, early techno and so on but you could call it ”uplifting, psychedelic leftfield house” and this is his first release on Höga Nord Rekords.

Italian producer Giovanni Damico (otherwise known as G-Machine
or Ron Juan) has been busting out funkified gems for more than 10 years now, and his mighty back catalogue includes plenty of turns
on Lumberjacks In Hell. He returns to the label with four crisp and refined slices of boogie business that span a range of tempos to give you plenty of party tackle for any situation.

"The Sound Of Revolution" is a natural choice for the A 1, dripping with cosmic synth flexes and an irresistible groove, while the snappily titled "Italians In A Line" brings a sweet strain of upfront robo-disco to the table.

Glenn Astro conquers new territories with Naturals, fusing elements of Balearic and leftfield house with tribal and acid sounds on Tartelet Records.

In an impressively short amount of time, Glenn Astro has created a musical universe that’s entirely his. With full-length releases making waves on Ninja Tune and Apollo Rec, the sister label of R&SRecordings, the Berlin-based musician assembles a perfect pastiche of influences on his forthcoming EP Naturals, coming out on Copenhagen’s Tartelet Records this September.

Exploring the outer fringes of the Balearic sonic spectrum, Naturals delves into unexpected sound territories without losing touch with planet home. Sub-heavy drums mix with private oceanic field recordings, futuristic synth, and effect pedal workouts, delivering a four-track EP that is novel but honest to the bone.

“I tried not to take any direct influence from any particular music I was listening to,” Glenn Astro says. “Instead, I tried concentrating on where the instruments and effects were taking me, experimenting with different ways of using the gear that I know so well.”

Inspired by Sicily’s natural beauty, the juxtaposition of its rough landscapes and clear blue waters, Naturals takes listeners on a journey into unfamiliar sound; a conscious diversion from his usual style and yet an instant dance floor cracker infused with the artist’s signature panache.

“I made most of the record while being in Sicily,” he says. “In retrospect, it is easy to hear that the volcanic landscapes contrasting the idyllic beaches were a major influence.”

The EP opener “Naturals (Unsweetened Mix)” is a beautiful freak – a peak-time cut – starting out with tranquil ambient melodies and water drop percussion followed by a beasty acid line and slick drum programming. Next, “Naturals (Dance Mix)” slows it down to 116 BPM, taking a completely different route with a hypnotic dance between tribal and dub – a wonderfully weird closer.

On the flip side, “Slarutan (Pristine Mix)” emerges au natural with Sicilian field recordings, layered pads, playful melodies, and crisp drum programming. Saving the best for last, “Slarutan (Water Mix)” dips its toes into the early days of dance music, shifting into futuristic, ambient dub territory with divine melodies and filtered percussion.

“This one is for the plants and the trees. Return to planet Tartelet,” Glenn Astro says.

Tagliabue provides the two original tracks from his AFRO SPAZIO EP released on COSMICA MUSIC in May 2019. With psychedelic atmospherics, deep melodic layers and tribal rhythmic formations, he sets a wonderful palette of cosmic frequencies, to stimulate the remixers visionary powers and creativity. DJ Rocca started to produce in the late 90s, working on some drum&bass and breakbeat singles as Maffia Soundsystem from the same name club in Italy, where he was the main resident DJ. In his career he
collaborated with Howie B, Pressure Drop, Zed Bias, Dimitri From Paris, Daniele Baldelli and Jazzanova producing singles, remixes and albums on some of the best european labels as Sonar Kollektiv, Compost, Classic, Rekids, Skint, Hell Yeah, Rebirth, Internasjonal, Futureboogie Recordings, !K7, Deep Freeze, Tirk,
International Feel, Defected, Skint, Gomma, Paper Recordings. As a producer, DJ Rocca is also part of Ajello (with Taver), Supersonic Lovers (with Marcello Giordani) and Crimea X (with Jukka Reverberi). He has remixed big names such as Oliver Koletzki, Luke Solomon, Blaze, Isolee, Pete Herbert, Bjorn Torske, Chris Coco, Dimitri From Paris, Andrew Weatherall, Justin Robertson, Soul Clap and now our very own Joseph Tagliabue. With the award-winning jazz musician Franco D’Andrea he has formed the Electric Tree Project, a contemporary music trio, hovering between jazz and electronics, with a double album released in April 2016 on Parco Della Musica Records, defined as record of the month for the magazine Musica Jazz (June 2016). The collaboration with such a great name of the jazz scene, moves on with the realisation of an octet and the production of a new album entitled “Intervals I”, recorded live at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome last March 2017. Mushrooms Project is Giorgio Giri and Marco Lentano, producers and serial collectors of vinyl with a common passion for dj’ing and for any type of music whatsoever. The project came into being in 2003 when Giorgio, a punk band drummer and vinyl collector with a strong preference for anything from psychedelic rock to Afro, meets Marco a deejay since 1994 who mixes every possible kind of dance music; from afro to house, passing through techno and progressive. 2013 saw their debut album ‘Undergrass’ released on Leng Records, which was a continuous evolution of their sound elaborated in close contact with other musicians.
In 2015, Ivan King, a talented guitarist who had collaborated many times with the Mushrooms Project, became an integral part of their productions. They have now dj’ed across the world and are known for their hallucinating and all encompassing music that is made using live instrumentation such as guitar, bass, synth and percussion to create a “dirty” but unique insight to the very long, deep, mesmerizing and unusual minds of the Mushrooms.

Dutch producer Philou Louzolo returns to Byrd Out for a secondouting, mining that seam between Afro, House and Electro, with his Sharingan EP. He’s been working in a darkened room for some months on his own label Wokoundou (remixing the likes of Amadou and Miriam), but has taken time out to produce two new tracks, Sharingan and Itachi, that make up the A side. And on the flip we’ve the married the originals with three wicked remixes, from Kenyan via Kampala talent Slikback, who gives Sharingan an industrial pulsing feel, Ariwo’s Pouya Eshaei, with a stripped back take on Itachi, and previous Byrd Out contributor Native Cruise with a lush Balearic tinged edit of Sharingan. A lone gunman producing analogue, slow paced dance music influenced by pioneers like Andrew Weatherall, Richard D. James and Danny Wolfers. Sometimes all you need is some service. And that’s exactly what Höga Nord will give you with this four track EP by the name The Last Ride’. Opening title track sounds like Mr Kowalski, top dressed’ in a white track suit, speeding away for the vanishing point. The Last Ride would be the soundtrack of choice for Mr. Kowalskis Requiem for the American Dream. The organic baselines seduces you like the bright side of the illusion of that sleazy dream. A-sides second track ’We Own The Night’ will chug you all nite long. And B-sides ’Black Dog’ will make your mornings velvet with evil heat. Straight acid approach. Magic Feet Recordings, Stripped Off and Clouded Vision Records has already released him. But in Gothenburg we stay Höga and only settles for the best. We mentioned service earlier. We are also a crew. And this time we’re really doing you. All night long. Some darker morning when we’re straight - lets open up... We do dat doe dont we doe. Friendly, witty, welcoming and all. But it isn't called dirty for no reason. All love, charm and bifter - get lifted!

A much welcomed reissue of the 1978 Idris Muhammad gem 'Boogie To The Top'. Released a year after, arguably, Idris' most well-known anthem, 'Could Heaven Ever Be Like This' the similarities in style and composition are clear. Expertly produced, rich instrumentation, expansive drum fills, gospel tinged full-bodied vocals, all the while epic and life affirming in it's nature - what more could you want

Young Pulse steps up on the b-side, to add his own subtle touches and tweaks to the original. Looping the guitar and echoing out the vocals whilst working in more of the synth lines. The addition of a crisp clap and extra percussion add an element more vibrancy into this mix, keeping the original feel intact whilst revitalising it for 2018.

Release n° 2 of Presente has been also cultivated by countryside boy José Martí between orchards not far from the Mediterranean coast. On this florid EP, he shows again his salty touch with these 2 fine edits focused on dancefloor agitation. Bon appetit.

With “Bobo”, the coastal farmer took some latin jazz seeds from East Harlem and nourished them with 909 drops to grow a raw dish that suggests life celebration to the hungry diner.
On the side b, a funky cutting from japan was brought to life on the seaside's fruitful soil to become “saxo“, an affectionate dessert that may encourage taster´s spirit with its pleasing tenderness.
