The venerable Philip Lauer (aka “Lauer”) makes his debut on Public Release this Fall with his latest EP Otto Zero. One half of T&P, another half of Tuff City Kids, and a full two halves of Lauer, we're thrilled to welcome him to the Public Release family. I’ve been rinsing his tracks in my sets over the years; a sound so recognizably his, warm and fleeting emotions — yet simultaneously cold and rigid— he masterfully toes this line. The EP is serious party music for any room, whether it be the dance floor or the kitchen... It hits wherever, whenever.

Alex "Omar" Smith has never been one for modesty, so we shouldn't be too surprised that he's called his latest full-length - his fifth in total - The Best. To be fair, he is rather good at producing high-grade deep house, and here unveils another eleven gems. Interestingly, he's recruited an impressive cast-list of collaborators and guests, including Norman Talley, Kyle Hall, OB Ignitt and, most surprisingly of all, Bristol-based Tom Bug. Highlights are plentiful, from the dusty afro and blues influences of the tribal "Chama Piru's", and hazy, Rhodes-heavy vocal cut "AhRevolution", to the hip-wigglin' disco-house influences of "Seen Was Set", and retro-futurist, Inner City style Divinity hook-up "On Your Way".

Honne music vinyl strikes again with a new solid and diverse various artists compilation. A1 goes by our chicago friends Ciphr (Max Jacobson and Christian Thomas) with some jazzy grooves and a hypnotic saxophone melody that can blow your head off, A2 in charge of the san diego gem producer John Manhard, soft house masterpiece, his way of processing sounds is something that still has us shocked, the sound in this track will make you realize the great work he dedicates in post production, B1 is a full electro vibe with some sick arpeggios layers over the track, great tune as always by the italian prodigy Riciar Ghir, perfect for starting the dancefloor move.
On the B2 as always we have someone from the honne music family and we can not be more than happy with the vinyl debut of our beloved Costa that has given us a track in which you can feel all the fury and desire to raise his hand and tell the world that he is ready for everything involved in the music production, this is a perfect track for peak hr time.

PRZ reports for duty for the 9th release in the Hilltown Disco series with six no-nonsense, commanding, electro-cuts, delving into intergalactic territory with "Red Material".

Chateau Royal boss, Gal Perez has featured twice on Hilltown Disco's charity compilations, making Perez a familiar face on the label. Tel-Aviv based, PRZ spent over a year finely-tuning 'Red Material', flexing his rich and extensive production levels.

The 12" features some of the most intense and twisted, bass-heavy tracks the label has released to date. With fizzing drum machine beats, deep, space acid-lines, and the occasional disgruntled cyborg, Gal creates certified future-classics for the Hilltown Disco imprint.

French dynamo LB aka Labat returns for his second EP on Steel City Dance Discs. The Lyon-based artist delivers another collection of eclectic productions, displaying his trademark ability to source and integrate individuality and soul.

Skincare’s title track of the same name is a pure house throwback featuring labat’s trademark punchy 808’s, swirling synths and hypnotic vocal line guaranteed to have you moving on any dancefloor.

Vimana takes flight with Aprieta: a collection of polyrhythmic dance tracks produced by Phran. The EP is the physical manifestation of a movement started in 2015 with gatherings in Barcelona and Berlin and was composed in collaboration with friends and artists residing around Barcelona’s Poblenou district.

The tracks on side A contain restrained grooves with deep dembow jams. ‘Aprieta’, ‘Mazatech’ and ‘Sons’ feature collaborations from oma totem (Hivern Discs), Tunik (My Own Jupiter) and
Ribes.

Side B starts off with a remix of the title track ‘Aprieta’ by Dengue Dengue Dengue, before providing the mystical club cuts ‘Faylan’ and ‘Syntorama’, featuring ELO (aka DJ Leeon) and Ribes.

London based Italo-house afficionado Demi Riquísimo’s Semi Delicious continues to roll out superb releases with consistent development in its sound. As the label matures towards its third year of operation, Demi invites a host of UK talent for the third Various Artists release to date.

Demi kicks things off with his archetypal soul-soothing disco-tinged house. Live percussion grooves interlock punchy kicks and mesmerising arpeggios sprawl out across the top. With his signature FM synth line riding across the top and accompanying chord grooves, Demi’s ‘Sanitise’ is an instantly distinguishable dance floor heater from the outset!

Bringing an immersive B2 experience, Baby Rollén delves deep into submerged acid territories. ‘Peripheral Visions’ explores the unseen with wandering 303’s interlocking over warm euphoric pads and jazzy piano licks. Persistently playful and uplifting while bearing all the sonic characteristics of a moody Detroit electro track.

Harry Oscillate is a force to be reckoned with his signature psychedelic house sounds landing on labels including Big Beat Manifesto, Misplaced Recordings and Melbourne imprint clipp.art. Here he relaxes into a mellow space voyage with driving 909 drums, intricate echoing leads and dazzling synth chords that embrace like a warm hug on the dance floor.

Bristolian super villain Gallegos has been tearing the underground scene in half recently with releases on Holding Hands and Banoffee Pies that have exploded into Boiler Room sets, peak time shows at Panorama Bar and on BBC Radio 1. His utterly unique sound fuses bold, dynamic synth writing with hip-hop-inspired sampling and monster drum grooves. ‘What About You’ is a lament to anyone suffering with mental health, a gentle reminder that we’re not alone.

Finally, the chugg king of East London Tech Support brings ‘Idyll Illusion’, a track that exemplifies his slow-burning mind-trips. Taking sounds from the late 80’s and blending them with his stylistic arpeggios and big beat drum machines. A perfect end to this moving ride through Semi Delicious 009!

Space Dust is back with it’s first release of 2022 - this time from good friend of the label and EYA Records boss, Jos. His ‘Supersonic’ EP begins with the depth and elegance of 'Polvere Di Stelle', before travelling through a wormhole to dark and dangerous territories with the slamming ‘Infrared’. Crossing over to the upside down, Jos brings us the stomping, minimal acid groove of ‘Supersonic’, before closing the record with ’Night Vision’ - a techy number built on intricate drum patterns, with haunting melodies and vocals.

Following the Lisbon producer's last SNF release - a worldbuilding album that paid tribute to video game aesthetics - Pure Movements EP proves yet again his versatility.

Whilst Henosis LP dabbled in ambient, his latest sees this direction take full form. Contemplative ambience invites us to melt into it, with reverb-drenched acid melodies adding enough unease to keep us on our toes. Add in some deep, off-kilter bass throbs and this one is a real treat to the ears. Lock in and drift away.

Jeku joins Craigie Knowes for a trip through the mind on with his label debut the 'Surreality' EP. An outing of the spirit that rides the arc of the night. Club tracks for DJs looking to lift dancefloors and mind-melters to help lead the crowd to the outer realms.

S Transporter is Izaak S and Ryan Spencer, a pan-American duo of exact origins unknown. With roots spanning from Detroit to San Francisco, the project is somewhere around four years old, though no one remembers exactly when it started. The songs were initially demoed in Ryan's bedroom and promptly forgotten about in the chaotic whirl of both members’ efforts in other music projects, DJing, and party-throwing ventures until Ryan played them at his weekly, Monday Is The New Monday (co-founded with PGS' Ben & Zach). Immediately, the songs burst with new life into our ears, and we excitedly requested to hear more. In a tale every creative can relate to, Ryan simply didn't know if they were any good. We found them extraordinary.

What followed were several months of additional recording sessions in a collective effort to finalize the tracks, done at Ryan's apartment in Southwest Detroit, Izaak's in SF, and the Portage Garage in Hamtramck. Bay area DIY underground luminary Anya Ghiorzi joined the group and contributed her vocal talents to the songs, which began to exhibit a sound representative of the genre-collisions featured at MITNM– from krautrock and boogie to trance, acid, and house– in a way other PGS releases have hinted at, but have not fully expressed until now.

S Transporter is the name of the EP, the project, and all four songs. A maximalist sound with a minimalist presentation, naming the songs - so many years after their inception - would, perhaps, take away from the feeling that struck all three of us the first time we heard them on a club-grade sound system.

Izaak S and Anya Ghiorzi are San Francisco residents, musicians, and DJs in the Loveshadow dance collective.

Ryan Spencer is a Detroit resident, DJ, co-founder of Monday Is The New Monday, and is a member of Freakish Pleasures.

Uptempo, backspin-laden electro/acid with a winding 303 bassline that reveals itself slowly over the pulsing breakbeat backbone. Immersive, haunting and enchanting.

"S Transporter 2"
Downtempo electro. Slap bass. Heavy boogie. Sensual vocals reminiscent of early Chris N Cosey carry you through this industrial funk heater. Heavy synth lines and rhythmic grooving guitar that is club-ready for dance floors of all kinds.

"S Transporter 3"
A fast paced, percussion forward adventure with balaphone melodies and bending synth pads. Spoken words guide the journey, arriving at a movement inducing Juno ascension that dances into a calm end.

"S Transporter 4"
Encompassing the seemingly disjointed, individualistic styles of S Transporter 1-3, ‘4’ combines elements of the entire release into one final gesture. ‘4’ could be Byrne/Eno ("Regiment"), but it's something else - the product of decades of dance music history, distilled by two musicians & DJs into one song.

Back in the late 80s label owner Olivier Ducret entered 11 Wardour Street in London, home of the mighty Brain Club, a gallery · club · bar owned by Sean McLusky and Mark Wigan, where many (acid) house and techno visionaries played their early live on Thursday night to less than 50 people, that was quite intimate: Orbital, Simon Lovejoy, Mr Monday, If?, Doi-Oing, Nexus 21, Funtopia, Hi-Ryze, Adamski, 808 State, Ultramarine and of course, Mixmaster Morris's Irresistible Force and Irdial's RAMJAC Corporation. The energy and the creativity was incredible, at its peak, everything was fresh, innocent, naïve, new and oh so exciting. Boundaries in genre did not exist, and everyone was welcome aboard, no superstar, no business, just pure great fun. The crowd was eclectic, you could bump into Mark Moore or Neneh Cherry while the oung guns Andrew Weatherall or Steve Bicknell were spinning. This is most possibly where it all started for me & the label and this unique recording captures it all like no other, like a time capsule, impressively, and amazingly, a classic slice of British rave history unearthed via Switzerland. Just close your eyes and go back to the phuture.

Josh Wink is someone who needs little introduction having created some of the biggest and most influential club tracks over the past 30 years including I’m Ready, Don’t Laugh, Superfreak, Talking To You, Meditation Will Manifest and Higher States Of Consciousness to name just a few out of his never ending catalog. He has recorded on some of the biggest labels of house and techno including, Nervous, Strictly Rhythm, R&S, Bedrock, Cocoon, Ellum Audio and PokerFlat. In 1994 he started Ovum Recordings which is still as strong as ever, and is heralded as a buy on sight imprint for lovers of deep house, techno and acid.

Josh and Jimpster first became acquainted when Jamie was asked by Josh to remix a track from his 2009 LP When A Banana Was Just a Banana, and the favor was retuned when Josh remixed Jimpster’s Alsace and Lorraine in 2011. The pair haves tayed in touch since, cut to 2023 and we’re excited to present you with a full signature sounding Wink EP made with Freerange in mind, right in time for the summer.

Autonomic Journeys leads the charge with a track which hits that sweet spot between pumping Detroit techno, deep house atmospherics and twisted acid. 909 drums, 303 squelch and 106 pads ensure Roland is well represented in the track and all underpinned by a fat rolling bassline.

Pan Gloss gives us a chunky slice of bouncy percussive house which exudes a positive energy as it unfolds over 7 minutes. Fat stabs sit front and centre while chiming arpeggios and acid line dance around the beat making for a track which makes you move as much as get lost in.

Closing out the release things go deeper on San Guine, with a snappy groove laying the foundation for lush sine stabs, filtering pads and a hooky cross-rhythm analogue synth line.

From a state steeped in house culture, Harry Romero is one of New Jersey’s finest house exports, taking control on the A-Side of this 12” with exquisite two tracker ‘I Love / The City’. Harry plays tribute to classics from the Nu Groove catalogue with his modern ‘Choo Choo’ twist he’s loved and revered for across the two tracks, with enough depth and warmth to get you in the mood. On the flip Trilogy Inc, a new anonymous project from one of the UK’s most esteemed house duos of the 80s and 90s, explore their formative influences with ‘313’ and ‘Calling’. Two tracks destined for the darker recesses of the dancefloor, this is an unmissable package for club heads after serious underground heat.

It was perhaps only a matter of time before Si Begg rocked up on Central Processing Unit. Now an esteemed veteran of British beat tracks, Begg's name has become synonymous with quality club productions ever since he burst onto the scene three decades ago. In the years since, Begg has released scores of records on some of the most prestigious labels in the business - Tresor, NovaMute, his own Mosquito. As such, his debut on the Sheffield imprint whose name has become a sign of quality since it launched in 2012 seems like a wholly logical progression for one of electro's most consistently excellent producers.

Begg's casual mastery of his sound is shown off by the fact that he doesn't over-egg the pudding of the Energie Electrique EP. Rather than doing sonic cartwheels to get people's attention, Energie Electrique is characterised by the way Begg adds or subtracts elements to sturdy grooves. It's an approach which makes for a collection of tunes that manage to bring the boogie from the off while they also hide all sorts of aural Easter eggs amidst the mix.

On opening cut 'Energy', a droning start full of crisp drum programming soon develops into a head spinning electro groove reminiscent of Kraftwerk's Computer World. An acid-laced bassline waxes and wanes, modulating in intensity across several minutes as Begg sprinkles in percussion, synth blurts and vocoder vocals. It's a slyly insistent rump-shaker, and the - ahem - energy that the track provides carries through into following number 'Buckfunk Beatz'. This joint begins with a gnarly, chattering synth sound before the sizzle and snap of a broken-beat kick-hat loop locks into place. While still very Kraftwerkian, 'Buckfunk Beatz' also has the playful grizzle of contemporary practitioners like Cardopusher and Begg's fellow CPU operator Silicon Scally.

Things switch up at the start of Energie Electrique's second side. Rather than rolling out a high-octane groove, Begg delivers a low-slung mid-tempo roller called 'MS10 Machine Funk'. The programming on the kick drum here could almost pass for a dirty south hip-hop production if Begg didn't lace it with such a strangely compelling use of the oscillator - sometimes squealing, sometimes squawking, sometimes wobbling, always thrilling. The mix flecked with chordal stabs, 'MS10 Machine Funk' is a masterclass in combining danceable beats with the quest for thrilling sounds that is so often the mark of a truly musical mind.

To round things out, Begg brings us back to the beginning. 'Electro P1 B' is a delightfully dystopian bit of Drexciyanism. Piston-hiss drum programming, nervy atonal synth nodules, some cavernous reverb deployment - this is a body-mover if ever you heard one, and one executed with all the style, aplomb and panache you'd expect of Begg.

Back in the early '90's California's West Coast's parties, raves and clubs began to be fueled by the emergent sound of tripped out acid breakbeats and psychedelic house jams. Jason Drummond, AKA DJ Spun & Courtney Nielsen teamed up as Central Fire, their debut was both influential and pioneering, released in '94 on Twitch Recordings, a mainstay of the San Fran scene, it would pathe the way for what was to come.

'This Is A Shout Going Out' (Into The Future Mix) opens with infectious bubbling 303, there's breaks aplenty with expertly programmed twists and turns along the way, whilst the vocal keeps it lively throughout. The Sliced and Diced Mix sees Jim Hopkins edit the original down into a jam packed journey.
Over on the flip 'Central Fire' (Yes People It's Time Pt.1 and 2) takes a more stripped back approach, a b-line and breaks that deliver the funk underpin delicate riffs, dub FX and an unforgettable flute interplay to turn this track into another devastatingly programmed episodic ride.

Smooth acid injected edgy house cuts on this new Klasse Wrecks! For the last 3 years SJ Tequilla (Naota Matsuda) and Aaty Matoba have been a regular but hidden fixture in Berlin's underground music scene. You may have caught them at their regular spot in a dark tunnel next to the sprawling Ostkreuz station in Kreuzberg, lucky to sneak a quick listen before the cops came in and shut things down yet again. Armed only with an electrical generator, a 606, 303 and various dub echo delay units the pair have slowly been refining their Teknobusker project into quite a special thing. Proving that creativity blooms best when using a limited set of tools, the SJ Teknobuskers music is gritty and dark but also retains an important sense of humour. WRECKS029 was recorded between the years 2018-2019 and does a deft job in capturing a flavour of the rhythms, tones and squelches that echoed down the tunnels during Berlin's endless summers.

Lisbon's purveyor of dance incantations Paraiso are back with an EP that packs a meeting of 3 legends of the local and global underground - a trio of fearless pioneers and cultural agitators from different eras. Yen Sung and Photonz have partnered up in 2020 to collaborate on new music and start a record label. Fast forward to today and this Paraiso EP is their third release, further exploring their mutual penchant for ethereal house music drenched in subtle but fiery grooves and acid basslines. Opener 'A Temperanca' taps into moody yet bouncy motifs, punctuated by crisp claps and an infectious 303 line in the vein of DJ Pierre's record 'What is House Music', their confessed influence for this track. Things get slower on the A2 where the title track gets reworked with alternative elements - aptly named Gravity Mix. The B side continues the metallic acid exploration via 'Akasha', twisting and turning like only expertly crafted basslines do before things blossom into a sunny house groover with enticing percussion and variegated hats. Legendary Angolan-Portuguese producer DJ Satelite steps in for remix duties, adding his iconic deep afro house edge to a wonderful effect, all blissful motifs and broken percussive sonics.

Prolific Bristol based producer & DJ Gallegos debuts on London label Curving Track Gallegos’ with ‘Sycophantic Maniac’, dropping on the 27th July featuring additional tracks 0832am & Stop Continue. Having previously released music on labels like Holding Hands & Banoffee Pies, ‘Sycophantic Maniac’ is a big room record fusing together acid top lines, fast paced breaks and a driving low end, receiving early support from TSHA and featured in her forthcoming Fabric mix compilation CD out on the 7th May. The highly anticipated record has also seen spins from NTS stalwart Moxie, and will be receiving the remix treatment later this year from an exciting up and coming artist.

Baby Rollén’s Slump Recordings imprint returns for 003 - with a debut EP from mpeg. The Stuttgart based producer traverses the underground with his signature hypnotic tone!

Colombian multi-talent (Musician, producer and dj) Felipe Gordon isup next on the Clone Royal Oak Series! 4 classy deep house cuts that land in that sweet spot of the deeper, jazz infused stylings of Chicago and even a bit of the catchy French House vibes of the mid 90's. Felipe takes these influences and expertly crafts irresistible grooves and sounds into a modern take on house music.

Paryìa label head Marie Montexier announces the third installment on her imprint.

After kicking off the label with records by a.b.u.3.0.3. and Small Crab, Marie is having the Vancouver based acidic specialist Overland, who delivers three cutting-edge dance floor tracks that showcase her rich and versatile fusion of classic acid techno patterns and distinctive bass music rhythms.

Rounding off the record is a remix from the Chicago based up-and-comers Purelink. In contrast to Overland’s dark, fast, and bassy sound, Purelink re-arranged a trippy downtempo version of ‘Paloma’, resolving in the delicate, yet deliberate, chillout ecstasy, they are best known for.

A little mystery goes a long way, but it's fair to say the appetite for unearthing those secret tunes and lost classics has rarely been stronger...
