Composer, bassist and producer Horatio Luna is a musician
intrinsically interwoven into the fabric of Melbourne’s (and indeed the
global) jazz scene. Following his 2020 LP “Boom Boom” (Which won
support from the likes of Jamz Supernova, Lefto, Bradley Zero,
Earmilk and OkayPlayer) Horatio returns to Jitwam’s The Jazz Diaries
imprint, inviting several of his all time favourite producers to
reimagine some of his standout tracks.

The ‘Reworks EP’ kicks off with Horatio’s interpretation of ‘Milestones’ (a cover of the incredible Miles Davis track), while enigmatic UK producer Zepherin Saint takes to the boards with his remix of ‘Bumps’, giving the track a new lease of life with scattered drums and jazzy progressions. Next up Detroit’s Patrice Scott turns in his emotive remix of Horatio’s LP title track ‘Boom Boom’ - featuring moody pads, piano flourishes and an ominous bassline, he adds some Mo-town seasoning into the original. Last but not least the one and only Kai Alcé also turns his gaze to ‘Boom Boom’ opting for a more uplifting approach, and his Wurlitzer notes stretch into the ether, to be joined by a driving rhythm section to keep the dancers moving.
With these incredible remixes, Horatio’s infectious and groove-soaked
driving bassline and astral textures are given a soulful injection from some of the finest in the game.

With some of the best DJs and selectors there is a certain mysterious sound or underlying feeling which unites the music they play, regardless of genre, year or tempo. Luke Una is a master of telling a story through music and this compilation is a perfect example of his musical alchemy in action. Beginning his career as an original Sheffield house young blood in the mid 1980s, Luke’s move to Manchester and partnership with Justin Crawford saw the birth of Electric Chair, a cornerstone cult night in the UK underground club scene, and later Electric Elephant, a Croatian festival paying homage to their wild eclecticism from Balearic to Brazilian to E soul, house, disco and techno. Luke’s much loved, long running Homoelectric night and more recently Homobloc sell out festival for 10,000 souls has been at the forefront of Manchester’s LGBTQ cultural landscape.

Luke’s Friday evening show on Worldwide FM has captured imaginations and has already become a cult four hour must-listen monthly journey with fans all over the world. Gaetano Battista is back under his Mental Vibe Construction alias for his best work to date. The Italian producer is a House head through and through, bringing together all the ingredients necessary to create a classic Deep House 12". "Blue Jazz" starts the dance with it's hypnotic guitar arpegio and sparse pianos for a stratospheric ballad, pure bliss! A2's "Deeper" is a dubbed out chugger that funks hard and locks you as soon as the bassline comes in. "Red Blues" is another atmospheric jam with a more techno feel a la detroit, robotic and bass heavy. B2 definitely kicks some and shows Gaetano's wide randing abilities with this minimal jacker, which will take care of keeping them hips swaying through the night. The 3rd installment of the popular 12" EP Series A concept that was originally produced with the intent on granting the listener with some rare peaks into the early stages of Joaquin Joe Claussell's production process. In keeping to he tradition, the music on this this latest edition has been extended by Joaquin Joe Claussell.

The 3rd part (of 4) collating the music of International Noise Orchestra, Marching In Time 3 again highlights the breath of music this mainly studio project presented between 1987 and 1991.

Starting with The Atlantic Swimmer, Richard Strange leads with his ubiquitous punk poet delivery across pure late 80s Balearics. Out on his own, sport or ambition, all atop strident guitar, one drop; funk drum and bass interplay.

The global music anthem Far Away is the first of 3 tracks by alias Internationales Gerauschorchester. Flowing like street soul remixes of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, as Rama Mani's vocals envelop and rise above the syncopation meets world love.

On the flip, the band shows their rock roots of Gimme More Lovin'. The vocal sees Strange in tandem with founders the Gemini Brothers behind the desk, as Ulrich on keys and Wolfgang on guitar let it all swing.

Finally, when you have a floating ensemble featuring master percussionists from the Indian sub-continent in Ramesh Shotham, R. A. Rajagopal, T. A. S. Man and T. N. Shashikumar then I Speak Your Body Electric with it's hazy, cosmic mid-tempo lure and the closing instrumental of eastern melodics of Veena Via Video, all ends in perfection.

An unique nexus of electronic music and jazz! Fabio Kumori drum machine, synth, efx, double bass and Ü tenor sax, efx came together in several studio sessions and recorded the tracks for this album.

Some of the tracks let us feel electronic grooves close to house music combined with atmospheres reminding us on ambient music as well as nuances from Detroit techno. While on some tracks the tenor sax sounds pure and intensive like known from free jazz improvisations, on other tracks the sound of the sax is strongly modified by live efx that let it sound like electronic waves drifting through the endless space of universe.

'Thinking About Dancing' is Liam's debut EP, with six tracks of soulful deep house and grooves, including a club-ready remix from Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange that takes things more in the raw tech funk direction of Underground Resistance/Planet E affiliate Waajeed. A limited edition of the vinyl includes a felt cover (assorted colours) with stitched on Heard and Felt embroidered logo tag.

A project conceived during Melbourne's extended lockdowns, Liam found himself separated from his band projects and with lots of time to spend in his garage studio in the beachside suburb of Frankston, which has a surprisingly long association with dance music (Carl Cox/Butter Sessions/21st Century Dance Club/Andy Van, etc). There Liam recorded himself playing drums, bass, keyboards, guitar and percussion and then shaping those recordings into understated but funky organic grooves, full of hooks, twists and variations.

This is house made with a love of club and DJ culture, but from the perspective of a musician.

This is the first record issued by new label A.MA Edizioni from Bari, a mini lp with four tracks written, produced and arranged by DJ and producer Gerardo Frisina. Production is exclusively on vinyl but the music is not limited to the dance floor. Each track has its own well-defined identity: Burak is characterized by ethnic rhythms evoking an intense atmosphere of oriental flavors. Zagara is the track that is closest to Gerardo Frisina's past productions,the brasilian sound is enhanced by the vocals of Francesca Sortino and interplay between the flute and piano. On the AA side, Michael's Vision displays striking jazz influence. The atmosphere generated by strong rhythmic impulse is reinforced by the tenor sax improvisations of Germano Zenga and refined by the piano work of Giovanni Guerretti. In the Burak Jazz Version the track is embellished in a jazz style with soprano sax, electric piano and vibraphone, maintaining the original concept but creating a perfect listening experience.

This is the 3rd solo release from Meftah under his own Musha Publishing imprint, bringing another strong batch of tracks for all kinds of music heads. After his debut release 'Information Travels Through', Meftah followed up with a digital beat tape that only teased what was to come on the next record, and with this, he delivers. In true "Detroit Beat Down" fashion, Meftah's 'Life-Like' EP is a fresh perspective from the Motor City, while still remaining familiar to his roots.

The debut album by the Italian Massimo Napoli aka Galathea received excellent critical acclaim and demonstrated how the artist was able to create an interesting and balanced blend of musical genres with an Afro / Tropical electronic atmosphere. “Samba de Sausalito” is a song composed by the Nicaraguan percussionist Chose “Chepito” Areas, famous all over the world thanks to the version of the guitarist Carlos Santana published in 1973 on the album Welcome.

This new single released on Space Echo Records contains two particular versions. The first, proposed by Galathea, maintains the typical carioca colors of the original version with the addition of hypnotic and futuristic sounds, making it a perfect modern dancefloor anthem.

The second consists of a rework of the first version, by The Invisible Session – further percussive elements are added to the already full-bodied mix, embellished with an exclusive live drum solo in the studio – between samba, afro and jazz-rock, for a explosive result that will appeal to lovers and DJs.

4 slices of underground House & Garage in a variety of flavours from UK producers Club of Jacks on this their fifth vinyl-only EP. The A side starts with the smooth, deep groove of 'Dreamin' before moving onto pumping jazzy sample house cut 'The Rush'. On the flip side the piano flecked bass heavy 'Move to the Groove' has that packed outdoor terrace, sun coming up, hands in the air vibe and finally the nostalgic, old-school Hip Hop inspired 'Infinity' finishes off the EP in style.

Hidden Spheres is the alter ego of Manchester’s Tom Harris, who first made his mark on the underground circuit with his release 'The Bloos' on Moods & Grooves, before following it up with the much in demand ‘Waiting’ on Lobster Theremin offshoot Distant Hawaii.
Here, Tom joins the Scissor & Thread family, the Brooklyn label founded by Francis Harris, and home to music that traverses a number of boundaries. Hidden Spheres fits right in - the five track 1985 EP blends house, broken beat, ambient, jazz and other elements into a heady brew.
'King Tut' starts proceedings, a laid back jazzy groove, rich in textures and soulful flourishes.
'My Names' touches on the UK broken beat legacy of 4 Hero and Bugz in the Attic - an off kilter groove layered with sweet jazz and house inflected licks. ‘Karl' is a much more direct dancefloor track, albeit with the deepness that we expect from Hidden Spheres.The penultimate track '1985' steps into the unconventional house vibes of Detroit's third wave. It works in clubs. it works at after hours. Also, small bars vibrate meaningful on it: the music of Kuniyuki Takahashi enthralls everywhere and is made for heedful listeners, that love the thrill of little musical nuances, shifting in a deeply composed ocean of sound.

In terms of composition, melodic sensitivity, and subtle progression the music of japanese producer, Sound designer and dj stands out. Ambient, Future-Jazz, Deep House, Leftfield Elec-tronics: since more then 25 years the man from Sapporo expresses his emotions with a wide stylistic range.

As Kuniyuki or under pseudonyms like Koss or Newwave project, he released a body of work consisting of numerous albums and EP’s, that display his deep musical consciousness pro-foundly. Now his home label Mule Musiq drops “Remix Works “, an eighth tune strong compila-tion featuring for the second time since 2013 Kuniyuki Takahashi’s very own virtuosity of re-mixing.

A double vinyl that carries the full pallet of his skills – from yacht rock leaning synth-pop and balearic dreams to sweet wave signals and soulful Pop House.

It all starts with Kuniyuki’s Remix of “Plateau”, a tune by japanese Nu-Jazz / Post‐Rock band mouse on the keys, released in 2013 on the short living japanese retalk label. An epic, almost ten-minute-long house voyage, full of discreet acid shades and enlightening Jazz chords, that play spirited tricks on each other’s manic musical preaching.

This record is inspired by one of the most representative clubs of the Italian Cosmic movement of the '80s.

Rimini, 1981. Melody Mecca opens its doors and DJ Pery is the first resident, he spontaneously makes the club unique, through his personal choice of music, mostly relying on Afro and World sounds, rather than the disco funk groove, filling Italian dancefloors in the early '80s.

DJ Meo, author of the outstanding Fine Corsa reissued in 2018, joins the booth in 1983 and the two create a magic flow, that resonate into the Cosmic scene. On the floor peace reigns and there is no need of security.

Aficionados coming from every part of Italy are like pilgrims gathering to the long stairway and yellow roof tarps of 'La Mecca'.

The venue is huge, every night the musical path provides an educating experience bringing down the boundaries of mixing, dancers go crazy for mixtapes, hundreds are recorded after the parties and played on car systems, to the extent that who’s bounced is having a party in the parking of the club.

Stump Valley roots lie in the collection of records inherited from DJ Peppe, who inspired our Magica Movida. This is the second chapter of our tribute to that era, even if it won't be possible to recreate the same atmosphere of those magical nights today, till we will have stories like to one of Meo, the legacy of Melodj Mecca will still alive.

Infinity Plus One is neither a man of big words, nor a man of massive musical output, preferring to remain low-key. The tracks finally presented to you on this EP are bold and bare a distinct character of their own. The opening track "Struggle Is A Constant" is energetic and probably more current than ever, whilst tragically soundtracking recent pandemic times. „Suburban Subversion” remains airy and dreamy as an A2 follow up. The B-side then picks up the pace with "Connected", before the “9th Gate” works towards a gentle and jazzy finish. These four tracks were carefully selected from Infinity Plus One's creative period between 2001 and 2005. They display a diverse repertoire of sounds from the London based artist, whilst at the same time also expanding the soundscape of our Molar label. Thank you for your support, we love you.

Kasan Belgrave, son of the late great Marcus Belgrave, keyboard genius Ian Fink, Detroit Hip Hop guru Darrius Quince, and minor INVENTION are also featured.
