Frappé, the label to follow in 2021, supported by Laurent GARNIER who has recently said about them: “This label is on fire …. Looove the hard party vibe from the whole thing, and also love the cheekiness of some tracks. With tracks with huge samples from CHANGE, to tracks with obvious influence from “St Germain” …These guys know the score…”

The French label is already making a strong comeback with a fourth release: a pure House Music-infused Various Artists EP. Each of the 5 tracks explores a different aspect of what makes the House music sound of today, and yesterday, keeping intact the very Frenchy and dancefloor DNA of the label. Once more, Frappé is bringing together artists coming from different backgrounds, putting on a same record Lo-fi, Jazzy, Garage and French Touch influences.

Frappé is collaborating for the first time with a non-French artist and has picked a rising star of the electronic music scene in the person of northern-Irish producer Mark Blair. For the young prodigy, this is also his first release on vinyl, likely to make “French Kiff” a collectable item on Discogs soon! He is making his mark on this wax with “Tropicana”, a track as simple as it is efficient on which house chords are supporting a warm and sensual trumpet riff. All this is made in the lo-fi fashion which is his signature sound.

The release features also great tracks from Naux, Groove Boys Project, and the label owners : Basile de Suresnes and Ten Fingerz

'There are moments when we harmonise with each other and become one with nature and reality.' When, in the early 2000's, Pete Adarkwah heard of the existence of tapes of unreleased Roy Ayers and Ubiquity recordings sitting in storage he contacted Roy to get hold of them to be mastered and released. Released they were under the banner of 'Virgin Ubiquity' which spawned two volumes of the original grooves as well as a compilation of remixed versions of selected tracks. Now coming out on a 10" single, 'Reaching For The Highest Pleasure' gets it's first ever vinyl release, thus adding to the canon of 'must have' Roy Ayers records. This vibraphone heavy track and funk-fuelled bassline epitomises Roy's Black Consciousness inspired output from the mid-70's that also saw seminal albums such as Red Black and Green, Mystic Voyage and Everybody Loves The Sunshine recorded with various line ups of 'Ubiquity'. This release is backed with the call to arms of personal freedom and self that is 'I Am Your Mind part 2' remixed by Parisian producer P?p? Bradock AKA Julien Auger. First released by BBE on the original 'Virgin Ubiquity' compilation as the original recording and subsequently as a remixed version on 'Virgin Ubiquity remixed', this track features a stunning female vocal as well as Roy's spoken word philosophies laid over a deep and infectious groove. These two tracks are Roy Ayers at his legendary best from his most innovative period of creativity with his Ubiquity band of top flight Jazz, Funk and Soul musicians and artists. After learning her craft at an after-hours club in her hometown of Santiago de Chile, a pivotal move to Milan at the end of 2015 proved to be the ticket that would propel Paula Tape into the European club circuit. Six years later Paula has made a name for herself as a purveyor of eclectic selections, stomping Italo beats, percussive balearic excursions and synth-heavy rarities, both through her international DJ sets and shows on Worldwide FM and Milan’s Radio Raheem.

With two EPs under her belt via Alzaya & SOBO, collaborations with Project Pablo, Tornado Wallace & Elias Mazian to boot, and standout singles on Permanent Vacation, Ransom Note Records and Rhythm Section International’s highly regarded 2020 ‘SHOUTS’ compilation, we welcome the announcement of a knockout four-tracker from the Chilean producer on the same Peckham-based label. In the last 12 months she’s taken the Mixmag Lab & Boiler Room by storm, and with a slew of international tour dates and forthcoming releases lined up, 2021 looks set to be Paula’s year.

“When I started working on the Astroturismo EP I didn't know the music I was writing was going to shape into an EP. Finalizing the first track "Body Nature" helped me a lot to orientate the correct use of all the music I have been producing during the lockdown months and Rhythm Section team was constantly supporting me to make me feel free to explore musically without needing to stick to club music. "Body Nature embodies strong energies, in a very personal way: I noted down those silly lyrics and kept singing the melody in my head for days, in the end, that drove me to create a groove that would work and transfer the mood I was feeling. This track is about feeling relief with dancing, whether in a private moment like I did in those days or in a public space, few easy moves to trigger positive energy and improve your emotional state.” ~ Paula

Light Touches Records is devoted to shed new lights on hot rarities, unknown grooves as well as forgotten classics.

After the recent “Cheeky/Weeping Funk” here it is the second 7” on the label with two new smoking tunes for your disco parties. “Cora” is a deep dope African stomping groove with a nice brass, synth and cora interplay. On the flipside, “Enchant” is a marvelous deep jazzy groove of the best kind.

All tracks have been carefully edited without overdubs, in order to bring the spirit of classic disco manipulators to today’s dancefloors!

GLBDOM is back with a second vinyl release as good as its first. This one pulls totters six super sweet racks from various artists who all share a subtly old-school vibe. fuelled by equal measures of quality and scarcity, and with original copies now selling for over £200 on the second-hand market, Kalita now offer this masterpiece to the world once more, sourced from the original analogue master tapes.

Perhaps not as well known to the general public, Bethlehem Records earned its place in Jazz history with the release of debut albums from artists like Carmen McRae, Chris Connor, Herbie Mann and Johnny Hartman. Besides that, check those early covers - pure art!

Bethlehem's most famous release is the 1958 debut album by Nina Simone, Little Girl Blue. So when DJ Maestro got the chance to remix this album, he was thrilled. Soon he got the idea to ask some of his favorite producers to collaborate, like Mop Mop, Renegades of Jazz, Gramophonedzie, Fab Samperi, The Reflex and Mees Dierdorp.

One thing they all had in common: excitement to work with the original recordings from this iconic album. The result is 14 remixes, each with a unique approach to the original song, and all with a contemporary feel.

Tracks are a natural Evolution on of what Visions Recordings is constantly developing, a sound that goes from jazz to deep techno mixing the new generation with the veterans producers.

Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange is a collective that bring together UK jazz funk vibes that have been made popular by Kamaal Williams, Shabaka Hutchings and Ezra Collective amongst others with the energy of Berlin's electronic DJ music. In fact, head of the collective Ziggy Zeitgeist is a big fan of DJ tools which equally have a big influence on his music. His aim is to create a mix of jazz and tribalistic, electronic energies to create jazz raves that reflect a fresh modern touch of what could be a sound for the next years. Of course many elements of their songs come from the 1970ies - the chord progressions, the fusion keyboard solos, the driving rhythms. But the general sound of the music and its straight electrifying energy create a new and unique futuristic sound.

12” Reissue of proto Detroit techno and jazz dance anthem – Favourite of Floating Points, Theo Parrish, Gilles Peterson etc.

Vive La Musique is proud to present the first record in a special series, celebrating legendary French musician Jean-Luc Ponty and his influence on electronic dance music. Ponty is a prolific composer and virtuoso multi-instrumentalist, with over thirty albums to his name, exploring a wide spectrum of jazz, electronic music, and later, West African sounds.

Originally released in 1989, “In the Fast Lane" is a rich and vibrant composition, with Ponty's rhythmical Synclavier keys and uplifting violin melodies dancing over a driving offbeat groove. The track is a firm favourite of an endless list of underground heavyweights including Theo Parrish, Floating Points, Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge and many others. Championed by influential Detroit radio DJ the Electrifying Mojo, Ponty is dearly loved in the Motor City and is cited as a key influence by many of the pioneers of the techno movement. The track also lit up dancefloors in the UK jazz dance scene which started in the late 80s and is one of the all-time classic tunes from the Dingwalls sessions.

Vive La Musique brings this unique work to the 12" single format for the first time, beautifully remastered by Atjazz and cut loud at 45 rpm. The release also features a brilliant cover version from Opolopo. He faithfully recreates the original synth lines around a deep and jazzy house groove, producing a modern dancefloor masterpiece, which highly impressed Ponty.

The 12" is presented with stunning artwork and liner notes written by Ponty himself, telling the story of how the track was composed and recorded as well as exclusive photographs that have never been published before.

New Resense stuff for the advanced dancefloors. "Lalo Shuffle" is a rework of the main theme from the original movie "Planet Of The Apes", written by the great Lalo Schifrin while "Magic Hancock" pays a funky tribute to the great Jazz composer Herbie Hancock.

After spending most of 2020 putting music out on respected labels like Far Out Recordings, Sonar Kollektiv and Oye Black Label, Croatian producer Jan Kincl is kick starting 2021 with a 4-track EP featuring a remix from Atlanta-based house don Kai Alcé. The EP is titled "It's Been A While" and consists of three original pieces; "Love's So Far Away" is a direct peak time club track drawing a lot of its influences from the raw and dirty side of Detroit house music. "Day By Day" sits somewhere on the cross section between deep house, broken beat and jazz, with Regis Kattie's beautiful Rhodes melody woven throughout the track. "Just Stay (Kai Alcé Remix)" is a masterful reinterpretation of "Just Stay", which transforms the otherwise more laidback original into a driving 3am house tune. "Just Stay (Dub)" is best described as a connecting point between A1 and A2. Jan's raw house groove juxtaposed with a deep and subtle jazz feel coming from the hands of Regis Kattie.

St Petersberg's Dobro label is noted not just for the quality and playability of its funky house and disco re-edits, but also for its value for money. This, their seventh release, is another great example, with no less than six floorfillers included on one 12", each bringing their own individual mood to the table. 'Flowers Festival' from Sun Rhythms has throbbing organs and fruity keys, topped off by a gorgeous Russian vocal. DJ Merci's 'Timetable' goes for chunky rave pianos and Fairlight stabs, lending it an 80s Italo-disco feel, before Ground Plane Aerial's 'Transition SP' closes the side with slap bass and stripped down house vibe that echoes some of Roule Records' more accessible moments. Side two VIGI's 'I Am You', is the most memorable of the whole package, with its idiosyncratic female vocal weaving a magical spell around the listener, before we finish off with a double whammy of Monny Me's swirling stringfest 'The Name Of The Game' and the parping horns and strutting groove of Ugly Frankie's 'Free Alcohol Shit', the latter including a bewitching and unexpected piano solo. Great work all round.

C.M. Toni originally released music on Partners Inc Records for a short spell between 1991 and 1993. The label was inspired by the deep jazzy, soulful US house labels like Nervous, Strictly Rhythm and the NY house scene in general. These previously unreleased tracks were found recently on a tape recorded in 1993. The raw classic sound of 12 bit samplers, drum machines and early synths are all over these lost cuts recorded in the Dollis Hill attic, authentic house music from 1993.

For the 5th release the South Italian Label adds a touch of Jazz to the catalogue with The Rhythm Slaves . Real name Richard Gow, historical and devoted Jazz Musician of the mid 90’s, steps up into the Theory Of Swing team delivering a great collection of 5 beautiful pieces of total musical pleasure.

Tilman, longtime label favourite, never fails to bring good vibes with his immaculately constructed outings on Shall Not Fade. A label owner, DJ, producer and music obsessive, the best of his jazz influenced pumping house style is shown on Touch Me Fantasy EP.

Brooklyn-based duo Julian Duron and Michael Sherburn are Earth Boys, connoisseurs of heady house music that warms you with soft summer heat. Returning to Shall Not Fade after the success of their sellout LP Earth Tones last year, Automatic EP continues the Bristol label's new Classic Cuts series. It beautifully blends jazz instrumentation with deep house energy, creating sophisticated and unique dance music.

The title track is absolutely not to be missed - it's something a little different from the duo, centralising completely infectious vocals that are guaranteed to circulate your head for hours, a clean cut hit. Jazz sax meanders over the laidback house beat and into the next track "Okokok," which nods to Middle Eastern disco, this time the sax solos pair with a throbbing acid bassline. This acidic edge is brought to the forefront in the hard hitting business of "Revolution 420", a rave ready number infused with laser cut synths and dreamy pads.

Floating flute samples bring in the B side, the hazey natural breaks but disco influenced bassline making "Hush" both muted and danceable. Earth Boys bring master house producer JT Donaldson on board for the closing track, a sound soaked with funk n soul influence in its chunky slap bass and crooning female vocals. "Love Got You" winds the EP to a close with style - both cool and romantic, understated and glittering with character.

In 2014, Vels Trio entered the UK jazz-fusion echelons with breakout EP Yellow Ochre. Conjuring the spirit of old greats and modern innovators like Pat Metheny and Robert Glasper, the trio captured the underground audience whilst inaugurating themselves into the headsier jazz foray. With a feature from the mighty Shabaka Hutchings bolstering the EP to a broader audience, and astonishing live performances, the record led to sold out shows across Europe in 2018.

Since then the band have been busy on-hire for other prominent artists within international soulful jazz scenes, backing for the likes of Charlotte dos Santos and Poppy Ajudha. Their individual journeys involve drummer Dougal Taylor working with Emma-Jean Thackray and Neue Grafik Ensemble on critically acclaimed EPs,
bassist Cameron Dawson signing to Ubiquity with Mamas Gun, and keyboard virtuoso Jack Stephenson Oliver creating dancefloor magic with our very own SAUL and Nigerian composer Etuk Ubong.

Fast forward to 2020, with follow-up single ‘The Wad’ conquering the Spotify jazz playlists, the band have an album in the works for 2021, dropping on your doorstep via Rhythm Section INTL.

"Escapism" is the second album produced by Piotr Rajski also known as Pepe.. Once again, he offered us music that is hard to close in one genre and is best described by the artist himself:
At the time of creating this album, the world was absolutely dominated by the pandemic turning our lives upside down. Writing new music has became a way to escape from disturbing reality.

According to Paweł Bartnik who also mixed and mastered my first album "Afterimages", the second one is more colourful and vivid. I think he described well the idea I had in mind while recording the new tracks. I wanted them to stay in that dreamy tone which can't be referred to only one genre.

The record was pressed on 180g vinyl.

Limited version was made in 100 copies - each vinyl record has a different splatter color! "Very Limited Surprise Edition"

I found "Escapism" a great opportunity to combine my UK inspirations ("Vanity Fair", "WQRWY") and rap fascinations from Money Sex Records or Tartelet Records ("Realizm Magiczny"). While working on the album my biggest inspirations were i.a. Madlib, D'Angelo, Samiyam, Ras G, Jai Paul and Overmono.
I'm extremely happy I could create some of the songs with such talented people as Moo Latte, Kasia Siepka from Byty, Paulina Przybysz, Immortal Onion, Baasch and Wuja HZG. Everyone's unique personality enriched the sound and compositions on the album.

The cover was designed by Beata Śliwińska "Barrakuz" and it's based on the summer photo taken by Kuba Olachowski. It's worth mentioning that it was created using analog collage technique.

And where did the title come from?
The songs on the album are for me the way to escape from the pandemic and explore new musical areas. I just wanted to forget about all the laws, quarantines and restrictions. Imagination turned out to be the perfect cure for this.

2019 is mule musiq's 15 years anniversary. we're going to release twelve 12inchs with our friends artists and stefan marx make the collectable artwork. the kick off release is the debut release of bodycode aka portable on mule musiq. we have been talking about making the release together long time and we finally got it. alan invited his favorite female singer 'niqe' and produced two first class vocal deep house tunes.

Sprung up from his much-fêted clubnight of the same name, Bradley Zero has enlisted fellow Peckham local Al Dobson Jr to inaugurate Rhythm Section International with this: Rye Lane Volume 1, an 11 track mini-LP stuffed to the rafters with summery goodness. The importance of location on Rye Lane Volume 1 appears both tantamount and inconsequential: many of the titles on offer dot specific points of reference on the map (Peru, Grenada, Cameroon, Columbia, Peckham's Rye Lane), but Dobson Jr does his best to melt these heterogeneous influences down into something definably his own.

Elliptical funkiness and nimble calypso grooves bob and weave through the melodic, soft-tone jazz stylings, all underpinned by a steady bump. This melange of warm styles mirrors the Peckham streets upon which it was cooked up, teaming with raw energy but quietly confident enough not to shout too loud about it. Tempos shift up and down at will as Dobson Jr shuffles through his strong pack at speed, maxing out the replay value.

With it being almost impossible to define the sound of Rhythm Section in one record, Rye Lane Volume 1 perfectly fits the role of inaugural release by the way in which the album encapsulates the sum of Rhythm Section's influences into one coherent blend of experimental, percussive led jams. This selection of tracks, carefully curated from over 200 never released works, is a concise statement from the Peckham based label as it confidently steps out from it's humble suburban origins into the international arena.

Though 420 was originally recorded and released in April of 2020, Galcher Lustwerk's pandemic project is an exercise in counting and patience. Originally from a 16 track, 69 minute release only available for Bandcamp for $69 (or $4.20 per track), the 420 project brings us practically brand spanking new Galcher EP, just under a different name. Finally at an accessible price (and including signature Galcher vocals in a majority of the tracks to boot) this vinyl release hopes to bring more fans who missed the original release to the 420 club.
