The enigmatic Vyvyan returns to MMM with the incendiary single, CoatBraPants. Backed up with 2 remixes from Running Back’s Gerd Janson, as well as the debut remix from Charlie Nobody, the single further displays the unique driving disco house hybrid stylings of Vyvyan, and acts as the perfect precursor to his Debut album, also to be released on MeMeMe and expected in early 2020. Not content with a single bite of the peach, Gerd Janson has provided us with both an out-and-out 90s New York house interpretation, as well as a separate organic dark-disco-dub version. "Charlie Nobody”, aka Chris Stoker from Ess O Ess and Not An Animal Records, laces his first ever solo piece of released music with a psychedelic dose of dancefloor arpeggiation nestled beside some sweetly balearic guitar playing.

When we think of the rise of electronic dance music, especially the raves that blossomed in the late 80s/early 90s, we inevitably think of DJs... but there's another side to that story. Right from the start, live performers were at the heart of things; synth wizards who would plug in and play their analogue kit and send crowds as wild as any DJ. Echoes is the second album by the Ukrainian producer Cape Cod, released jointly by labels Vinyla Records & Kiev House.

Echoes is a comprehensive and multi-genre work in terms of sound and song creativity. Waella’s Choice return with their fifth release, made in Detroit, remixed in Melbourne and London.

Adding to a growing stable of leading house artists who have already released on the London label, Detroit singer, producer (and dancer) Javonntte presents Drumma EP, traversing the deep and soulful spectrum with two original productions.

The title track has the same instant magnetism as Hanna’s ‘Stranger’, which helped inaugurate Waella’s Choice in 2017. ‘Jazzpianodance’ takes a more broken approach, incorporating Javonntte’s love for jazz fusion. Something that would have felt right at home in the old Co-Op dances at plastic people.

The B-side presents remixes from two young producers with a bright future. Melbourne-raised and now London-based, Crown Ruler member Winters follows up his 2018 debut for Parallel People with a low-slung RnB version. Touching Bass family Romaal Kultan ups the tempo with a weightier sucker-punch of breaks and broken percussion, primed for peak time impact.

Expand Your Awareness (EYA) Records has built a strong reputation over the past year. The London-based label continues to impress with it's fourth release of four tracks aimed for the dancefloor. With two solid tracks from the EYA boss 'Jos' remeniscent of the 90s techno and house; a minimal funk groover from Evil Knebel, the Manchester party Choke's head-honcho; and a dark and dreamy atmospheric number from USA-based machine-lover Poten- make sure you get it before it goes.

Moving to London, producing two sell-out records with Mall Grab’s Steel City Dance Discs, and nailing mixes for Rinse, NTS and Boiler Room, made 2018 a landmark year for Australian-born producer and DJ Loods. Following his extensive touring across the UK and Europe, Loods has been working away in the studio to produce his Classic Music Company debut. This two-track 12” marks an impressive label outing for the artist, as title track ‘Walking Away’ offers a summer-ready sound with soft keys, a soulful vocal sample and lilting beat. On the B-side is the deep and grooving ‘The Feeling’, where the burgeoning artist presents another track primed for summer dancefloors with this disco house number.

The eight chapter of the infamous Slow Motion Compilation series, “Italian Dance Wave Disco Otto”, has quite some hidden gems to be discovered. Beginning with a track from Marcello Giordani DJ (half of the duo Marvin & Guy), that expresses a perfect Italian melancholic sunset (as the title also states), energetic, strong, but always poetic. Always following that "beachy" vibes we find The Caribbean House, serving a track that could last a century, and we would never mind. Electro hints mixing with deep and balearic vibes: ears glued to the headphones. Moreover, we have again Slow Motion queen, System Olympia with a track that could make even nuns sweat on the dancefloor: beats and bass to die for. To close this chapter, you can pamper your ears with a angry balearic track from Gallo, not suited for the more weak hearts, that’s for sure.

Producer and DJ O’Flynn has announced his new 12” single, ‘Sunspear’, to be released on 3rd May 2019 alongside previous single ‘Tru Dancing’ on Silver Bear Recordings.

His latest outing follows a self-released 12” on his newly incepted imprint Hundred Flowers earlier this year, as well as singles on Blip Discs and Ninja Tune.

With his new single he continues to evolve his signature style: the breezy Sunspear swirls with a euphoric world music sample and heated percussive energy, whilst peaktime weapon B side Tru Dancing is a horn-infused disco-house gem.

O’Flynn says "I wanted to make something for the summer dancefloor that people could have fun to. It was about taking the sample and recontextualising it to make something more modern whilst keeping the original feel, adding additional percussion to up the energy.”

Manchester's Yadava steps up to the plate for the next installment of the High Praise Edits series. A member of the cities infamous party collective So Flute collective, Yadava has steadily been making a name for himself as a incredible selector with productions to match (including recent release on the likes of Church and Banoffee Pies records). He also holds down the 'Expansions' show on NTS Radio alongside co-host Contours.

With his incredible knack for weaving spiritual, soulful and uplifting energies throughout his music, it's no wonder we had to get him on board for High Praise Edits Vol IV.

Faze Action return with Zeke Manyika to present "Kubatana", which aptly means "Together" in Zeke's native Shona. This second release, in a series of four 12"s, features live horns and flute with the lead track taking influences from the late 80s South African Proto House sound. The result being an uplifting slice of original African House for the modern dance floor.

Gianni Marchetti is one of Italy's best kept secrets...
A composer with a long and elaborate list of writing credits in both pop music and movie soundtracks.
He penned proper anthems in Italy's post-war melodic tradition. Amongst his large and varied oeuvre, in 1977-1978 he composed and recorded the original soundtrack for the skin flick 'Disposta A Tutto'
A slow-burning mix of funky clavinets, scat vocals, wah wah guitars and sultry tenor sax lines, all tied together by a distinctly Italian sensibility.

Rather than fading into obscurity, the soundtrack became a prized collector's item for DJ's and rare groove enthusiasts.

After a short hiatus Phonica Records revives its deep-house focused Karakul imprint for Harry Wolfman's new 12" 'The Ritual'!

Having produced a dozen 12's for labels such as Dirt Crew, Omena and Outplay, Harry has been honing his craft for the best part of a decade and you can hear how his sound has refined over the past few releases, reaching new heights with this latest record for Karakul.
'SMBC' kicks the 12" off in a laid-back style with its woodwind and brass samples complimenting bright pads and drums, reminiscent of MCDE, while the mellow and sultry 'Eva' is up next.

On the flip 'Obi 1' takes things up a notch both in tempo and energy, working around a lo-fi drum loop and cunningly filtered bassline.
Strings come to the fore halfway through making this a real uplifting gem, the mixture of instrumentation bringing to mind early Pepe Bradock.

Come Go with Me is an album cut that was never releases on a 12” and is another example of album songs that were a favorite at the Claussell family’s home growing up. This is destined to be another Unofficial Edits & Overdubs Classic.

Our dear friend Thomas have been making lovely music for some 20 years now. And this EP is an selection of different aliases his created or been involved with. Johannes Klingebiel's Positional Play is a masquerade of shape and texture, a carbonated collection of capers to stray and sway with.

The Cologne-based producer, DJ, and Ancient Future Now label-boss dispatches four tracks of angular, emotive acid house destined to be intensified by the reception of perspiring dancers and exultant listeners around the globe.

"Positional Play" combines the gentle whiplash of splashing snares with a delirious, flourishing arpeggiated melody, while "Nah" draws the ecstatic inward to its essentials, opening with the sparse chime of bells, faraway metallic percussion, and plaintive piano pluck before accelerating into a chord-busting frenzy.

"Five Dimensional Coffee Cup" is the real rave up of the bunch, though, offering an energy alloy with pure, psychedelic force. Finally, "Please Please" pares down to swinging percussion and pleasing / pleading melody, overlaid with soft, swelling chords.

He has made three super catchy tracks for us, perfect for the summer season!

First up is the title track 'Haute Cuisine', warm bouncy bass topped with a super infectious lead melody and percussion. If there is a track more suited for the festival season it's this one for sure!
'Hot Wheels' races on with a deep rolling groove, fuelled by wah wah rhythm guitars, warm synth chords and arpeggios.
'Conflict With Clayton' brings another solid groove to the table with scattered vocal samples and multiple synth layers. Scorcher!

So imagine dancing your ass off to this EP in the sun and feeling fantastic, we sure are!

Smile for a while' has recently moved to Berlin and calls for Jana Falcon, a local, emerging House Music producer .
"Falling (Again Boy)" is an intricate fusion of Garage and House textures, it's a sultry, catchy tune with stunning spoken-word vocals and a bed of fuzzy beats that give it a really contemporary gloss.Things then go off in another direction with the brilliantly named, "Contemplation of Inadequacy". This one is crafted on another hypnotic tip, drawing the listener in with another bevy of atmospheric vocals and a bassline that's pure fire.
In "Petrias' House" Jana goes for a more upfront House sound. Simmering piano keys lend this one a sun-soaked flourish; precisely the tonic for the fast-approaching summer.
The release closes with a thoroughly banging remix by We Play House man, Dynamodyse. A tune that's thoroughly engaging and is sure to get your head in

About a year ago, I had dinner with a special group of friends obsessed with food like me, we call it the Yum Yum Club. Max Pask is a member and while we were preparing a decadent meal, he played me that Evans Pyramid song « Never Gonna Leave You » that I didn't know of. It blew me away and I immediately tried to integrate it in my DJ mixes. But that proved to be a challenge as the beautiful song is very lo-fi in its production with very quiet beats. OK for a very end of a night, but I wanted to play it more than that, so we decided to make an edit with Max that quickly turned into something closer to a remix. Here it is now. There's a house mix for the pumping hours and a disco mix that is closer to the original. Very glad to introduce you to the amazing music of Evans Pyramid (if you never heard of him), a forgotten genius from Boston, the missing link between Shuggie Otis and Prince.

4 cuts of fine disco grooves. All have been road tested in recent sets with Labor Of Love's tune being one of my biggest from last year.

A7 Edits is back with its second instalment from JD Twitch (Optimo). Following in the fashion of the first record by Stefano Ritteri, Volume 2 offers two edits alongside their sought after original counterparts from Africa Seven favourites’ M’Bamina and Tala AM.

The A-side sees JD Twitch take on M’Bamina’s 1982 ‘Kilowi-Kilowi’, from the group’s third album ‘Reflexion’. Twitch takes this already dance-friendly number and stretches it out, producing a a laidback disco groover with added effects for good measure. A delightful organ line pops us near the beginning, reappearing throughout the edit, often taking turns for centre stage with the vocals or the horns, whilst the funky bass keeps the pace and style throughout. Following Twitch’s version is the original which starts with a rather trippy, meow infused intro before slipping into the type of groove that M’Bamina became known for.

On the B-Side we have Tala AM first up re-edited in classic Optimo eclecticism. ‘Arabica’ was the lead track on Tala André Marie’s 1978 album on Fiesta records. JD Twitch goes large with his version, amping up the already powerful original into overdrive with heavy drums, plenty of reverb and some trippy Frankie-goes to Hollywood-esque effects glittering over the top. It’s not what you expect, but exactly what you wouldn’t expect from a man like Twitch, and definitely works on the floor. The B-side closes with the original version, more disco but all the same power behind it.
