Das Belfaster Duo Bicep veröffentlicht sein heiß ersehntes zweites Album, „Isles“, auf Ninja Tune!

Zwei Jahre in Arbeit, erweitert „Isles“ die kunstvolle Energie des 2017 erschienenen selbstbetitelten Debütalbums von BICEP und vertieft gleichzeitig die Klänge, Erfahrungen und Emotionen, die ihr Leben und ihre Arbeit beeinflusst haben. Sie beschreiben „Isles“ als „eine Momentaufnahme“ ihrer Arbeit in dieser Zeit, wobei die Stücke so konzipiert sind, dass sie sich in ihren verschiedenen Durchläufen von der Aufnahme bis zur Live-Show und darüber hinaus entwickeln.

Der weltweit beliebte Sound von Bicep entstand, als ihr eigener rasanter Aufstieg im Musikbusiness begann. Nach dem Start ihres legendären FeelMyBicep-Blogs im Jahr 2008 entwickelte sich ihre simple Website, die stets neue Italo-, House- und Disco-Juwelen aus der Musikgeschichte präsentierte, zu einem durchschlagenden Erfolg, der regelmäßig über 100.000 Besucher pro Monat verzeichnete. Nachdem der Blog ein Plattenlabel und eine Clubnacht hervorgebracht hatte, wurde das Duo mit begehrten DJ-Sets, die die musikalische Vielfalt ihres Blogs widerspiegelten, auf die internationale Bühne gehoben. Nach den Erfolgen mit Produktionen für Throne of Blood und Aus Music wurden Bicep 2017 bei Ninja Tune unter Vertrag genommen, wo sie im darauffolgenden Jahr ihr umjubeltes, selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum veröffentlichten, das einen Top-20-Einstieg in die britischen Charts erreichte und in der Groove schaffte, was in der langen Geschichte des Magazins noch kein Release bewerkstelligen konnte: sowohl die Kategorie „Album des Jahres“ als auch mit „Glue“ die Kategorie „Track des Jahres“ zu gewinnen. Sidney Charles returns to his highly regarded imprint, Heavy House Society with an amazing 3 tracker, titled Rave Fever EP to heat up your summer.

In the last in 6 months Sidney Charles has had a string of heavy hitting releases on labels such as PIV, Eastenderz, Locus, Dark Side of The Sun, and No Art where he has delivered 2 genre Nº1’s in the Minimal Deep Genre on Beatport , 6 top 5 placements whilst also generating over 400k streams on Spotify alone. Charles is certainly riding on the crest of a production wave and with events coming back around the globe slowly, expect him to keep growing all the time.

For his new release on Heavy House Society, he releases his Rave Fever EP, a delectable 3 tracker with a penchant for uplifting happy grooves. The first track is Avalon. With swing to the beat, evolving pads, gentle atmospheric chords, a bassline that Parliament would be proud of all combining with cleverly arranged lead lines, this one is going to stick in your head and put a smile on your face.

The second track and title track of the EP is Rave Fever. The delicate production on this is key to its authenticity. Minimal plucked chords, interlaced with intricate percussive fillers, combine with another of Charles inimitable bassline grooves, and jazzy leads this is pure sunshine.

The third and final track on the EP is Feel The Heat, which has a slightly more house feel to it starting off with a chunky kick, bouncing bassline and Masters At Work 90’s NYC Garage flavoured chords and strings combining with a smooth vocal hook this is one for lovers of the old and new school house sound alike.

Sidney Charles drops another sure fire winner on his fast rising Heavy House Society and after a string of heavy hitting releases this one is set to be no different.

The 27th release on Gestalt Records comes from Manchester-based Aiden Francis, spanning three original cuts of driving techno and a levitating remix by South African producer Terrence Pearce aka Biodive.

dj poolboi is the moniker of Austin Texas' resident Adam Ansley. In 2017 Ansley started quietly releasing lo-fi house music as an artistic outlet on Youtube. Channelling his own struggles Ansley crafted a unique form of EDM – 'electronic depression music' creating emotional melodic songs mixing elation and nostalgia with melancholy.

Residing in the same vein as contemporaries Ross From Friends, DJ Boring, Mall Grab, Park Hye Jin and Dj Seinfeld while building on the experimental dance music of trailblazers such as Radiohead, Four Tet, Caribou and Jamie XX his music found its own niche and began to take flight online.

Introspection Recordings invites into their already alluring world of deep and stripped back house for a second look, this time with a four track VA release featuring E-dward!, Mennie, Lorenzo Magnozzi and BCFHBH.

Close Your Eyes from E-dward is a superbly smooth and seductive deep house track with supple drums overlaid with lush, puddle-like pads that are filled with warmth and colour. Mennie picks up the pace with the twisted synths and molten acid gurgles of Haumea, which is a driest but delicious house cut for the heads.

Lorenzo Magnozzi opens up the flip-side with a more peak time track thanks to its edgy stabs and militant hi hat and drum combo. This one is filled with astral drama and sci-fi tension of the highest order. BCFHBH closes out this standout EP with Nur Mix, a freaky minimal groove for the after party that will burrow deep into your brain synapses.

Legendary UK dub techno pioneers Glyn 'Bigga' Bush and Richard Whittingham aka Rockers Hi-Fi, originally formed in 1992 in Birmingham. Rockers Hi-Fi gained a cult following in the early years of dub-techno and soundsystem culture with their psychedelic, bass-heavy blend of dub, house, techno, beats and drum & bass.
Rockers Hi-Fi first met when Dick was putting on nights in Brum whilst working as a carpenter, after Glyn needed work doing on his house, the pair got chatting. One thing led to another and they eventually set up a studio in Glyn's living room, where the majority of the first Rockers Hi-Fi album was recorded. Following a signing at Island Records in '93, the pair expanded to a studio above a piano store in the centre of Birmingham.
A lot of these tracks presented here were influenced by musical outfits like Mo Wax, Metalheadz, Shut Up & Dance, Scientist, and King Tubby. Glyn's and Dick's music also heavily sampled 90's hip-hop, and the classic New York house sound i.e. Kenny Dope, Bobby Konders, Nervous Records & Strictly Rhythm. Not forgetting the Birmingham Diskery, a record store where the pair found plenty inspiration amongst film soundtracks, spoken word LP's and other obscure records which became part of the Rockers sound.
We're pleased to present a selection of tracks from their formative years, mainly encompassing the club ready, dancefloor centred part of their discography. This reissue LP includes a mixture of sought after bangers, as well as some lesser known tracks which people may not have heard.

Limited series of this unknown label project

In the early 2000's, the Riverview mental hospital was closed down by the Government and the streets of Vancouver were filled with all that housed them.

One of these was a villain known only as Mr_Barcode, he was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial for his crimes and was incarcerated. In the mid 90's Mr_Barcode began a shadow mission to convert drum machines and standard MIDI hardware gear to use his patented sonic mind control chip.

He had created what was known as "Module 1" and was thwarted by CSIS and captured.

Once he was let loose Mr_Barcode began his experiment again, this time he found sympathizers in his cause- to brain wash the masses and for the machine to take over. Various labels enabled his mission, and thus gave way to the mind manipulation we see today on mankinds technology dependant lifestyle.
Believing his mission complete, Mr_Barcode interfaced with the machine by French kissing a plug socket in 2006, never to be seen until now.
These demos were sent, this time to bring anarchy, we love anarchy, bring on the Witching Hour.

From his beginnings as F.U.S.E. on Warp, Richie Hawtin has come a long way in the minimal techno game. The Plastikman project now offers up "EX (Performed live at the Guggenheim, NYC)" on Mute. A hugely welcome return, this is his first album under this pseudonym since 2003's seminal 'Closer'. EX was recorded live at the Guggenheim, NYC sometime last year and is a modern update on the hypnotic, slowed-down acid trax that he was a pioneer of way back in 93'. Throughout the seven track album we are treated to his trademark brand of twisted squelchy 303 acid lines, but with a modern backdrop of psychedelic synth lines of epic proportions. There are echos of classic Plastik in the 'Spastik'-like ball bearing snares of 'EXpire' to the more moody tracks like 'EXtend' and onto the sedate house of 'EXtrude' rendering this album the perfect soundtrack for introverted solo missions and late nights wondering around empty art galleries and basement nightclubs.

On the flip. The B1 is handled by the one and only N-GYNN, that bouncy bassline leaves you no choice but to move in an almost mechanical way.

B2 is wrapped up by Garouda with the rolling house vibe, a hypnotic tempo straight from outer-space.

Pipa Records is back, with the second installment of B-Squit's now legendary EP series. After touring the world for the last two years, he finally returned to the studio. The pressure was high, so he hired some of the most famous ghost producers to create a worthy successor to the acclaimed first release. For some mysterious reason that did not work out at all, but did cost a fortune. So back to basics, he chopped up some old songs and gave birth to this beauty.

Support from the usual suspects of course, except RC7, because he only likes to break records. We love records, we don't break them, please don't do that...

Pampa is ecstatic to welcome Berlin's Mike Denhert for his label debut. Known for an uncompromising, heads-down approach to moving dance floors, whether as a producer, a DJ, or in his live incarnation, Mike has provided 2 original tracks that are as distinct as they are relentless, possessed of a cerebral quality that belies their tough and stripped back aesthetic. How Close To Be' is a stuttering march of half heard and half imagined discourse, broken by bright synthesis which disappears before it can fully form, with the disorientating sonics held in check only by the rigidity of rhythm running throughout the tracks length. It's both surprising and linear. Dark and uplifting. Me Too' is also a creature of opposing ideologies. Warped moving Jazz plays with static Motorik patterns, automation curls around repetition, and textures change position throughout. Bright keys warp, and swing ebbs in and flows out, all to an eventually breathless but ultimately compelling sum of these parts.

Duca Bianco has always had a loveable erratic approach to putting out edits. They have come at irregular intervals from a gamut of unknown artists. That leftfield tradition continues here with so-called "goth-percussion merchants" Black Bones who travel far and wide across four hard-to-define cuts. There is a real sonic scuzz to the first one 'T-2017' which is macho disco for a strobe-lit back room. 'Coming On Strong' meanwhile is techno-disco for the main room with crashing drum textures and machine-gun synths that echo the great 'I Feel Love.' Totally flipping the vibe, the B-1 cut 'BEEF' is spangled late-night disco with rugged guitar riffs and funky bass hidden amongst oodles of reverb. Closer 'Keep Dancin' is AOR pop with big strums, crooning vocals, and intense walls of sound all destined to make an impact on dance floors that like it different.

More wicked and masterful Tech-house runnings from the HD mob, originally released at the turn of the millenium on London's Eukahouse label the House Utensils EP is another essential entry into the genres canon. Chugging, bass heavy jammers with all the right swing in all the right places! Kitchen Spasm (Original) opens up proceedings, a creeping acidic roller with some sinister robotic voices telling us they 'don't care what you say, what you do'! Eerie synth pads and driving drums compliment the odd mood and drive this one into the early AM! Also featured is the garagey Lounge, a sweet and melodic cut that oozes that lovely techy soul and tuneful swagger that just lifts a dancefloor. This one sounds like it was made yesterday, it sounds 2020 as anything and will get spin from DJ's. If all that wasn't enough, there's a dope dub mix of Kitchen Spasm to finish the EP off. A killer 12" from start to finish from the masters of the game!

Another legendary R&S classic repressed in very limited numbers only on a one-sided 12" vinyl. The original 1992 release from Dutch producer Jaydee was a 10 minute long Hammond organ workout - many remixes over the years but you cant surpass the original!!!

After having two of his earlier tunes remodelled by Carl Craig and Mike Huckaby thanks to Sushitech, Detroit's Delano Smith re-emerges on the label with a double pack of tunes made with Brawther under the D&B Productions. That moniker has more to do with the pair's name rather than a suddenly conversion to drum & bass, although there's a love of dubby effects and deep bass power here that - at a stretch - could be said to be in common. The six tracks - Symbiosis' 1-6 - are smooth and simple, but executed with an ear (or four) for an irresistible groove, an economic but rhythmic keyboard stab and a knack for squeezing something nicely soulful from the barest ingredients. Nice work indeed.

Fur Coat drop second single from upcoming album with Johannes Brecht on remix duties…

Fur Coat return to Renaissance as the run-in to their eagerly anticipated second album ‘Polyphony’ really starts to pick-up a head of steam. To ensure the pistons are pumping and things are approaching maximum velocity, the Latin American duo deliberately picked one of the strongest tracks for their sophomore session, ‘Shades’ - available here on a full 12" side for optimum loudness and club play.

“Shades is one of Polyphony’s more defined dancefloor cuts,” explains Fur Coat’s Sergio, “it was a natural choice for it to be a single. The thing that really underlined the decision was Johannes though. We sent the entire album over to him and said, ‘take your pick’. When he immediately chose ‘Shades’ Israel and I were left with no doubt whatsoever.”

In its original guise the track is an exemplary slice of melodic techno; that happy marriage of opposites, where dark, brooding base meets a memorable, infectious top-line. It’s firmly in ‘hum it all the way home from the club after just one listen’ territory.

Johannes Brecht’s take is a remix in the very best sense of the word. He takes the top line by the scruff of the neck and transports into the very different, yet oh-so-now world of atmospheric
breaks.

It’s one of those rare interpretations that can sit as comfortably at an Ibizan sunset as one of its famed (yet to be re-opened) dancefloors at 4am.

All in all, this is an exceptional release from two of the most exceptional production talents at work
today.

Physical Education is back with another signature offering. Four tracks, four peak-time cuts courtesy of ‘90s production veteran Bryan Zentz, under his seldom-seen pseudonym: Barada.

Originally released in 2001, futuristic house tones are top of the agenda. There’s a never-before-seen gem in here too, a track that Bryan made at the time but never put out. He found it amongst his collection of Digital Audio Tapes (DATs): now it sees the light of day for the very first time.

From the fast-paced swing of Roboporn to the acid-laced tones of Eye Contact, there’s plenty to get stuck into. Subdrama ratchets up the tempo further, as does The Crimson Boogie - Zentz’ previously forgotten treat.

Now in 2013 shortly after Koze dropped his sophomore album - Amygdala' Pampa Records is proud to finally re-release the soldout masterpiece "Kosi Comes Around" on vinyl!

It was back in 2005, shortly after having erupted over the past year with a slew of 12" singles that have captivated DJ's world-wide, the current insanity over his alterego ADOLF NOISE, and least we forget, one of the most adventurous mix- CD's of all time, 2004's "All People Is My Friends", DJ KOZE moved forward with his highly anticipated, solo debut full length entitled "Kosi Comes Around". This may sound overly dramatic to state, but DJ KOZE was truly there to give the world a piece of his mind - and the facts were blatantly presented there on this album. Stefan Kozalla aka DJ KOZE was a revolutionist and proved beyond reasonable doubt on "Kosi Comes Around" that nobody else was able to load music up with so much madness yet balance it gingerly with love and warmth. He felt there are promises that must have given surrounding the multitude of "new lies" that existed in this world back then (and today) and a true determination of bringing House back to it's utopian place once again. A Spirits Hunter chased by Fear who was known to conjure the Phantom of the Old School and bring color to it's face. DJ KOZE felt that fear is always justifiable - if one cannot understand fear then one cannot fight it. DJ KOZE was (and still is) a fear expert - truly the world's most notorious one-man-army we've witnessed since John Rambo. And "Kosi Comes Around" was his maifesto. It was a call for all Miquetoasts of the world to stand up and unite - after all, to be above this is so '90's....
