Side A 'Calling Mick' is the first of the Magari canon that leans slightly towards house but still with all the tropes of a sun soaked Italian coastline and hot summer nights. 'La Selvaggia' is classic throbbing , sultry groove with guitar riffs dancing through the arrangement taking you off in to a lost world 80’s nightclubs. The final track of the Ep 'Alden' is the more downtempoboogie affair that could be as easyily at home in the clubs
of south central LA in ’85 as the beaches of the Italian Riviera. On for Burning hearts and melancholy souls

Even a pandemic can have its upsides. Fiesta 2000 proves this debatable statement. Conceived by Raphael Schön during a Covid-19 lockdown and originally released in 2021 as part of I’ll Be The Energy on Freeride Millenium (*thanks, guys! Ed.), it is one of those godsend tracks that cannot be duplicated, recreated or planned. The prohibition of any kind of hedonism, the yearning for collective pleasure, post-teenage-angst and rave romanticism all make up this delicious cocktail. Now served again on the Running Back subsidiary Misfit Melodies and freshly remastered, it is a hard one to put down.

Especially, since it has been supplemented with the just as charming tearjerker Hitter Mane: melancholic, hopeful and motivating in equal parts. The original of Fiesta 2000 is also backed up by remixes from Matisa respectively Sally C (who directed Gerd Janson’s attention to the track in the first place). Both brilliant in their own right, Matisa shifts the track into turbo-mode that will please the ruff necks amongst you, while Sally C brings off the feat of uniting pumping house, breakbeats and balearic piano moments in one go. Fiesta forever and ever ever!

Essentia is not only the latin word for – you guessed that right – essential, but also the name of Krystal Klear’s return to Running Back. While trance might be a state of mind (according to DJ Dag), it’s also a tone theory with a very specific tool kit. Here you get the version that makes sense in the aural universe of a producer that got raised on a diet of hip hop, boogie and the foundation tunes in house music. Moderate in tempo, the result is still euphoric to say the least: melted brains, stimulated spinal cords and rave rampage included. Essentia balances the euphoric rush of its topical genre perfectly with the happy-sad moments after the rave. If that is not musical or emotional enough for your taste, you will find content in the Sunrise version. Excessive use of the well-beloved choir, breakbeats and - downs make it equally irresistible for sun-ups and love-ups.

Flip the coin for Winnies Karaoke. Stemming from the same source and session as Essentia. Named after the interactive entertainment bar in Chinatown NYC and made sometime in the early morning hours, its the quintessential Krystal Klear. Sawtooth boogie, if you will. It’s counterpoint is the Sundown mix. Techno prog for the tilted generation.

After spending years out of print, The Prodigy have re-pressed their third album in time for its 20th anniversary.

In the episode „Didschn,“ the town faces an unusual crisis as a mysterious figure known as Super Flu arrives. Contrary to its
name, Super Flu is a benevolent being with the ability to heal ailments by absorbing them into itself. Mar+Mer, a pair of curious
twins intrigued by Super Flu‘s powers, seek to understand its nature and offer assistance. Meanwhile, Ivan Masa, a skeptical
scientist, fears the unknown entity and aims to contain it. As tensions rise, Super Flu demonstrates its ability to heal not just
physical ailments but emotional wounds as well, bringing unity and understanding to the town. In the end, Mar+Mer and Ivan
Masa join forces to protect Super Flu from outside threats, realizing that its presence is a gift rather than a menace to Didschn.

Raised on the seemingly ingrained House sound of Cork (Ireland) and its heavy influence by renowned and revered House heads Fish Go Deep and their Sweat Nights at the legendary Sir Henry’s Club it was an inevitable progression for BALMR to follow the path of producer and DJ.

Over the past decade he’s releases his material on the likes of Nordic Trax, Kolour Detroit, Expanded Records and more, as well as hosting his own Down Right Deep Show on Deep House Radio.
Here, presenting his new latest collection of works, ‘Paths Unknown’ sees BALMR captures moments in time and individual journeys to paths previously undiscovered.

Opening the EP is ‘Drifting’, an aptly titled journey traversing through hypnotic, billowing chords, atmospherics strings and shuffled drums. ‘Deep City Nights’ follows next and encapsulates the frenetic energy city life has to offer in the night-time via an amalgamation of jazzy keys, dubby chords, expansive vocal chants and crisp percussion.
Opening the flip side is title-cut ‘Paths Unknown’, diving deeper and back into immersive and airy realms through subtly nuanced textures, resonant synth licks and snaking bass grooves. ‘Step Into My Own’ then rounds out the release, embracing classic deep house tropes with choppy vocal hits, jazzy keys, bouncy subs and a heavily drum rhythmic drive.

A new player has entered the game. The Austrian born Borghese delivers the next 12” in the Squid Recordings series, a deliciously curated palette of club music programmed for the Euro-mind and beyond.

The five tracks, all bubbling though various stages of analog circuitry, are a sonic sampler in the young producers archives. From Aside opener “Cruel Carbo’s” twisted techy drumwork, to the freaked out breaks sprinkled throughout “Are You Ready?”, SR003 is as serious as it gets. No filler all killer.

The A side is jam packed with 3 uptempo tech-prog-chug goodness featuring Eora Nation based up and comer Mtty, label head Jad & The, and a re-issue of Pocket’s timeless “Smoke Signals” previously released via Australia’s seminal “Thunk” Recordings in the year 2000.

On the flip the tempo is slowed but Australian DJs DJ Relax and Local Support deliver arguably the finest moments on the record - broken beat Balearic badness in the best way, hell yeah!

Weaponize your DJ record bag again with fresh ammo from the Greek studio machine, Aggelos Baltas does it again with another volume of remixes to the Sound Metaphors re-issue catalogues, an invigorating contemporary club touch to a wide range of dance floor material that was originally produced in the early 90s and late 80s. A new patina layer formed by the aging acid baths and chemical reactions of the experienced studio magician. Aggelos' signature atmospheric grandiosity and big room sound once again delivered with precision and high efficiency for the caring modern dancefloor. Can't go wrong.

Per Hammar and Ukraine’s Olga Korol present their next joint release ‘бешкет’ (pronounced ‘Beshket’). Aptly titled in native Ukrainian, the forgotten and unearthed term translates into ‘brawl’ / ‘rumble’ in English. 
 
Since the Russian invasion on Ukraine, the Ukrainian culture and language has been under threat of being extinguished, so with this in mind both the artists wanted to use their music as a tool to help keep the Ukrainian language alive. After meeting Olga in 2020 during the production of their first EP together, Swedish born Per Hammar has come to know and love Ukrainian culture and has since been studying the language, with the goal to one day be fluent.
 
Title track бешкет / Beshket as the name suggests has a brawly nature to it, with a forward moving and offensive beat and darker garage-leaning bassline it shifts back and forth between a more in-your-face sound to a smoother subby one. 
 
Track two titled Darth Vader is interestingly based on a poem that came into Olga’s mind when they were mid-jam in the studio in Malmö. Their studio neighbours (huge psy-trance producers) had gone through a big studio renovation where they had stored away a huge pile of unconnected gear. One item caught Per Hammar’s eye immediately, a vintage and quite luxurious tube pre amp. He asked if he could borrow it and see how it would sound to run some different sound sources through it. He and Olga proceeded to run some vocals though the tube pre amp, which is when Olga wrote the poem, and they found that the sound of the amp fit really well with the warm and smooth sound of the Darth Vader beat.
 
The EP closes with Jumbotron, which leans into more microhouse territory with quirky twangs, scattering drums and a groovy undertone. As always with Per & Olga, there is a driving push through all the bodies of work, complimented by Per’s love for unusual machines and Olga’s creative force.

Coming as the eighth edition of the series, ‘EP8’ stays true to committing Defected’s biggest digital releases to wax, delivering an upfront package of house heat previously unavailable on vinyl. ‘EP8’ features four of Defected’s first releases of the decade, with David Penn’s collaboration with renowned house vocalist Roland Clark ‘The Power’ kicking off the A-Side, as Roland Clark’s mighty spoken word narrative paired with David’s rolling bassline and percussive breaks combine for a sincere and uplifting track.

Up next, Italian duo Supernova deliver their dancefloor cut ‘Can’t Stand It’, featuring Los Angeles vocalist Marley Monroe, who delivers her heavenly top-line, a track infused with Chicago house influences, Supernova’s cut is a start-to-finish groover. On the flip, ‘To Burn’ by Dennis Cruz opens, featuring Leo Wood’s compelling vocals, as a wandering bassline and vocal stabs throughout take it to the club. To round off the release, Defected regular OFFAIAH delivers his track ‘Private Show’ (Club Re-Edit), ready to ignite dancefloors with seductive vocals and tension-building drops.

In recent years, Dzc. has emerged as a highly sought-after DJ, leaving her mark in Austria with performances at numerous venues. As a key member of the Acid Lambada crew, she has been featured in well-established curated festivals and events, both locally and internationally. Her productions mirror her passion for synth-driven dance music, characterized by dreamy pads and playful melodies.

No stranger to Fortunea Records, having already been featured in two editions of the Fortunea Cookies VA-Series, she is set to present her first 4-track EP in February.

The 'Conversations with Birds' EP is a meticulously balanced collection of tracks designed for each phase of a club night. Drawing inspiration from elements of 90s House and progressive sounds, 'Visual Mind' and 'In Sight' are dreamlike journeys with lively synth melodies, joyful basslines, and captivating pads and textures. The latter has also been reworked by Fortunea regular Peletronic, infusing crisp minimalistic rhythms into his 'Blurred Vision' Mix.

The standout piece of the EP is the title track on the B-side, a beautiful composition that elicits uplifting moments and feelings of euphoria.
It features emotive chords, airy strings, and soothing sustained tones that enhance the powerful groove.

The record promises to immerse listeners in an engaging journey that captures Dzc.'s distinctive vision.

Few artists exude as much passion for, and dedication to, their craft as Tom Marshall (AKA Marsh). Since he first emerged on the electronic music scene in the mid-2010s, Marsh has sculpted a uniquely soulful sound that has captivated his listeners and earned him a fast-growing and intensely devoted fanbase. Marsh's forthcoming album 'Endless' follows two previous bodies of work; his 2017 debut 'Life On The Shore', and his critically-acclaimed Anjunadeep debut LP, 'Lailonie', the latter of which has accumulated over 20 million streams to date. Marsh also has an array of widely-supported anthems in his discography. 'Come Together' (with Nox Vahn), 'Little Darling' and the Beatport chart-topping 'Lost In You' are some of his best-loved tracks, all streaming well into the millions and winning support from electronic music's biggest artists, including Joris Voorn, Pete Tong, Diplo, and RÜFÜS DU SOL. An accomplished and globally renowned name within house music, with remix credits for the likes of Joey Negro and Masters At Work through to Jamiroquai and Mariah Carey, UK DJ and producer Martin Ikin continues to remain a leading artist within the worldwide electronic music scene and a firm favourite within the #ToolroomFamily.

With the past twelve months welcoming a host of originals and remixes on Toolroom, alongside releases via the likes of Sola, Repopulate Mars, Catch & Release and elrow Music to name just a few, Ikin picks things up right where he left off as he returns to deliver his latest single, ‘You’ – an infectious and exuberant house anthem fuelled by euphoric piano builds, soulful vocals and typically slick percussion arrangements.

Squid Recordings inks its way into existence with a heavy foot on rave Americana.

Four tunes, club-risen in an oven safe pan, dive into new territories for the California born Taylor Freels. SR001 grounds itself in the wirings of synths past while still focusing on heavy, sample-flipping grooves. The inaugural 12” for the project is a taste test for what is to come.

This project in a “12 inch form has been created to push the talent of the students from the online music production courses of Alex Font. Giving the students the first chance to sign a record on their names and got fully promoted under the Acmé branch.

Italian artist Fedele unveils exciting upcoming album ‘Depth Of Being’ which again finds him exploring all new electronic music realms. The 11 track album arrives on his own label Obscura and is his first since going solo. Fedele is a key part of the underground scene and has been working alone for the last three years since his departure from Agents of Time.

He has truly made his mark in that time with music on the likes of Ellum Audio, Tiga’s Turbo Recordings and his own Obscura. This superb new album is a mix of stylish progression from the signature sound Fedele is known for while the other side of the album dives more into the experimental world, using more vocals than before.

Hailing from the legendary birthplace of techno, JR Disc brings a fresh perspective to the scene with their dynamic beats and infectious rhythms.

Reboot makes a welcome return to Cécille this July with his three-track ‘Red House’ EP, featuring the German artist’s signature groove-driven percussive style.

For the past decade and a half Reboot has been dropping his raw, hypnotic and rhythmic house grooves on some of the most reputed imprints in the game, namely the likes of Sven Vath’s Cocoon Recordings, Luciano’s Cadenza, Ricardo Villalobos’ Sei Es Drum, Pleasure Zone, Rawax and of course Cécille where he returns here following 2022’s ‘Bako’ EP.

Reboot’s back catalogue makes his indelible mark on this territory undeniable and his musical story continues to leave further tracks here with his latest works. ‘Ready To Flow’ opens and immediately thrusts us into Reboot’s trademark swinging rhythm section and smoothly refined low-end drive, further fuelled by dubbed out resonant flutters, choppy voices and tension building sweeps. ‘Alicat’ follows next and embraces a deeper aesthetic, fusing together hazy atmospherics, bumpy bass stabs, and loose organic drums with
bubbling synths, chanting voices and saxophone licks.

Lastly title-track ‘Red House’ rounds out the release, further capturing the essence of Reboot’s hallmark style via intertwined sample chops, pulsating subs and skippy percussion, all of which are intricately processed and automated to create a dynamic dance floor workout.

Full of bounce and experimentation in equal measure, ‘Triple Transit,’ Braille’s new album for Hotflush is about leaving his Sepalcure project (with Machinedrum) in the rear mirror, moving back to New York and using its energy to fuel new moves, confronting our hyper layered world and overcoming personal difficulties by being creative.

Focused squarely on utilising modular synthesis in sprawling studio sessions, the album covers a wide stylistic range and draws on the artist’s formidable battery of experience to craft a body of work that packs real emotional punch as well as a dancefloor sensibility.

Moving on from Sepalcure
“That period of time when Sepalcure was at its peak was really inspiring. I’m still really in awe and humbled by the fans. It’s always amazing to hear about how music you’ve made has brightened up other people’s lives in some way, but ‘Triple Transit’ is really about transitioning from that period to something new. I’m intentionally not using many vocal samples on this album. That became quite a crutch for Sepalcure and I wanted to try and find ways to evoke those emotions and connect with the audience in other ways.”

The roots of his Bounce
‘Sour Patch Kiss’ and ‘While We’re Free’ are inspired by classic house and some early Detroit stuff. Songs like ‘Big Fun’ (Inner City), ‘I Wanna Be there’ (Model 500) and slowed down ‘Sex on The Beach’ (DJ Assault) have stuck with me since the beginning. I used to listen to this slowed down and doubled version of ‘Sex on The Beach’ on an early Juan Atkins mix cd on REPEAT when I was in high school.

Getting ambient
Triple Transit slows down and transitions through a bit of sadness and eventually acceptance at the end of the album. A lot of the music I’m making these days is trying to recreate that manic feeling so many of us have in 2024. Between social media, ridiculous hustle culture expectations and depressing global and national political events, it’s hard to not feel overwhelmed. I feel like Triple Transit is kind of a parabolic curve from mania to joy to a sober realization that yeah, actually the world is just fucked but somehow we carry on.

An exploration of the space between min and MAX, Joran speeds at an hypnotic pace exploring the outer reaches of space and dimensions, returning through a wormhole of frequencies & echoes and optimism of new worlds.
