Welcoming daughter Lyric to the Floorplan fold in 2014, the pair have been behind some of the last decade’s best loved cuts like ‘Tell You No Lie’ and ‘Never Grow Old’. Now Floorplan debut on Luke Solomon’s Classic Music Company imprint to deliver two-tracker ‘Right There / Holy Ghost’, a divine dose of house brimming with soulful warmth and dancefloor energy. Opening the package with ‘Right There’, Robert’s house and techno personas seamlessly blend, hypnotic bleeps and throbbing chords married together by a crackling spoken vocal sample. On the flip ‘Holy Ghost’ maintains the irrepressible energy of the previous track, as piano-laced breakdowns, a body-moving bassline and a roaring vocal on a persistent loop make for another excellent cut from the pair.

Demi Riquisimo’s Semi Delicious return for their 18th vinyl only excursion via Berlin based Revivis’ ‘Surrender The Body’ EP.

A dance floor focused 4 tracker, the EP is a distillation of the sonic palette quickly becoming synonymous with the sound of Revivis, nodding to the past whilst looking to the future, all through the lens of timeless house fundamentals.

The release kicks off with ‘Pick Me Up’, a diva vocal affected chugger that leans on the 90s progressive aesthetic whilst remaining versatile and current. The A-side wraps up with the title track ‘Surrender The Body’. A minimal fuss, hands in the air, euphoric piano house jam that can be noted for it’s subtlety despite it’s anthemic nature.

Winds from remote eastern lands descend rapidly on our plains, lurking between memories and feelings, whilst the drums of liberation play the same hypnotic patterns repeatedly - as in an ancient ritual. The sorcerer behind the Dorothy's Dream alias gives us three original cuts filled with pure minimal mystery, backed up by a remix by US-based talent Chklte, who adds some harsh 909 drums on his version of "Arambol", closing the EP but not the enigma that surrounds this release.

Following in the footsteps of "Mind Palace" and "Lost Spirits", respectively issued in 2018 and 2021, Hidden Empire return to Stil vor Talent with their eagerly anticipated third studio full-length, "Momentum". Going the same route that came to define their sound throughout the years, Branko Novakovic and Niklas Schäfers cook a savvy mix of deep electroid flavours and prog techno magnitude which flourishes in the long-playing format. Orbiting the frontier between proper no-nonsense, floor-focussed effectiveness and a trademark exploratory take on electronics, Hidden Empire here delivers one of their most accomplished slices to date, which not only spans the largest span of their many-faceted influences, from tribal anchorage to hypermodern escapology, but breathes a truly epic wind into it.

Draped in luscious, silken envelopes and easternmost ambiences, "Dawn" gets the ball rolling on a mystique-imbued note, halfway meditation-friendly material and square-shouldered club busting wares. Moving into Afro-infused house grounds, "Modesty" finds Branko and Niklas heading for the deeper end of the spectrum, as they pull out a clinically precise blender of rattling percussions, opaque incantations, lush synth swashes and verbed-out machine talk, tailored for nightly boogie rituals in the forest. "Avalanche" opts for a more brooding, deadlier approach. Cutting its path away from prying eyes, this one finds Hidden Empire pulling the stealth weaponry to absolute hypnotic effect - perfect for serious in-between peak time business with its thick, thriller-like tension, mist-shrouded atmosphere and surgical focus. Featuring Felix Raphael on vocals, "Who We Are", is a pop-influenced chugger that perhaps best defines Hidden Empire's ambivalent style, both hi-NRG and innervated with a melancholy that infuses down to the bass and most functional elements. Geared up for big-room traction with its seesawing synths and clinical drumwork, Raphael's moving timbre does more than offer a sensible counterpoint to the track's overall sturdy backbone, it takes it to a whole other dimension completely.

"Repeat The Good" ft. Wolfson balances out a fast-ticking groove with those subtle melodic lines Hidden Empire champion to astounding vibrancy, offering a particularly satisfying glimpse into their vortical imaginarium, whereas "Last Call" has us journeying to straight out Moroder-esque territories, flush with the aptly configured palette of fuzzy space disco bass, fast-paced Italo churn and vocodized talk for good measure. All in breaks and chopped-up euphoria, "Vivid" runs the hoodoo down in muscular fashion and with impressive levels of energy throughout, all set at cranking up the heat one notch further, while "Rebel" provides us with the kind of rough-around-the-edges EBM horsepower and neon-clad synth engineering that'll get the basement in a state of alert. Encompassing all of the pair's idiosyncratic merger of styles - from pop-laced Italo to spaced-out techno wares, through jagged motorik and heavily mecched-out jacking house, "Alright" shows off Hidden Empire's wide arsenal of pyrotechnics under the most compelling of lights. A more openly jagged and quirky weapon that hatches into a full-fledged solar number around the half, "Momentum" roars up the club's highway at full throttle, proving a formidable asset when it comes to plunging dancers into a state of weird, left-of-centre euphoria.

A stroboscopic eclipse is predicted as "Dark Sun" enters the room, deploying its obscure wingspan over the ravers, not quite a bad omen as it lets more light in with every bar, its brittle piano lines and heart-wrenching vocals cutting a path into the crowd's pulsating hearts. Graceful as Hidden Empire's music can be, a moment of utter exhilarating beauty. "Savasana" wraps up the voyage with a pure slab of cyphered 4x4 seduction, as an ASMR-like voice guides us across the soul-questioning haze that blankets our pathway onto a luminous finale. A piece of elusive nature, clearly designed for the club and yet telling a tale of off-piste initiation through twelve fascinating movements, "Momentum" will undoubtedly etch on the listeners' mind as one of the German pair's most strikingly powerful emanations.

In an exciting development for OYE Records, the renowned Berlin record shop is set to relaunch with an anticipated debut EP from fast-rising local artist LACATY. LACATY's journey into the industry began through a serendipitous meeting with an OYE team member through Femme Bass Mafia and eventually found their own paths. As the idea of releasing a debut EP came up, it felt natural for LACATY and them to join forces. Relocating to London marked a pivotal moment in LACATY's career. Immersed in the city's vibrant energy, she was among a select group chosen for the AVA Creator Forum, where she honed her skills and creative practice. The distance from Berlin's social scene provided the mental space to fully develop her ideas, resulting in a debut EP. "I wanted to create what I play – tracks that are not only energetic and punchy but also filled with emotion," LACATY shared. "Being in London, away from the familiar Berlin vibe, allowed my sound to evolve naturally, unconfined by genre expectations." Designed to heat up any dance floor, all three tracks feel like an ode to the vibrant 90s music scene. They are woven together by a blissful euphoria, while simultaneously evoking a sense of nostalgia.

Flashback - Frankfurt am Main in the 1990s: Matthias Vogt writes record reviews for Groove magazine, works as a DJ in various clubs and studies jazz piano. His first releases as a producer are already on the street. When one of his favourite labels, for which he had written numerous reviews, Force Inc, opened a house sub-label (Force Inc US), Matthias submitted two of his own tracks to the label. The "DJ Matt" EP entitled "Die Tiefe / Augen zu" is released. The two completely analogue-produced tracks mark the beginning of Matthias' journey into the realms of deep house music.
A few months later, Matthias Vogt's career takes off, with a move within the same Frankfurt corridor, from Force Inc. to INFRACom! and the launch of his projects re:jazz, Motorcitysoul and Matthias Vogt Trio. Cut. Today: A social media post drew the attention of Berlin DJ, producer and label maker Johannes Albert to the story surrounding the 1999 release. Now, 25 years later, "Augen zu/Die Tiefe" is being completely remastered from the original DAT tape by Gyso Hilger (Nektarium Darmstadt) and reissued - looking and sounding great - as a 10" on Frank Music.

Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records is proud to present the label’s first ever album, from someone who’s been part of the family since the start: Brain de Palma.

Born in Ukraine, settling as a child in Turin and spending three years in Egypt before settling in his current home of Berlin, Alexei Versino has one hell of a story.

Musically, he’s been around for a decade now, releasing his previous music (solo as Panama Keys, and also as one half of the duo Stump Valley) on labels like Dekmantel, Soul Clap and Off Minor, before settling on Gudu with his Brain de Palma alias. But personally, his relationship to music goes much deeper: as a young child growing up in the former Soviet Union, a lot of European music was banned, so he relied on his well-travelled uncle to bring him back smuggled cassettes of Italo Disco, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Erasure and early DJ mixes – getting an illicit musical education behind closed doors as a child.

He still carries that underground mindset to this day: the press release for his last Gudu EP, Purple Brain, reads: “dedicated to all the ravers, DJs, aficionados who had to go through the lockdowns … a shout out to people who keep on fighting for the underground culture!”. The perfect candidate for Gudu’s first album, then.

Comprising eleven tracks made across the past year, Versino describes Rhythmption as “my redemption through rhythm”, and a tribute to “seeing people enjoying themselves on the dancefloor, that feeling of unity where people become one thing, regardless of their life path or social status.” Opening with the gorgeous ‘Thandolwami’ (featuring South African vocalist Sfiso Atomza), Rhythmption charts a path through sun-drenched Balearic house, stuttering drum work-outs, Italo-inspired synth romps, trancey house and even a touching tribute to his former home of Egypt, taking in every aspect of Versino’s journey to date. After all, it’s not all about the destination, it’s also the sights you see along the way.

The next jewel to be unearthed from Planet Euphorique is the much anticipated debut ep from London based eoin dj. This stellar release is an anything goes collage of samples, moods and grooves from all corners of the dance music spectrum, all the while going steady and keeping it club-ready.

Play Nasty puts its money where its mouth is; titillating vocal chops flit and flirt around fiercely precise drums and throbbing bass notes; modern sound hacks are diced and spliced with classic techno motifs. The end result sits somewhere between a punctual club tool and a peak time hot-and-sexy-moment-on-the-dancefloor number, with Pulsing Crystal taking the same hybrid approach. Basslines and kick drums come in and out and change positions - the track is an amalgam of hard house, electro and techno primed for any hour of the night.

On the flip comes Artificial Intelligence, the second collaboration between eoin dj and Byron Yeates. A tried and tested no frills tek stomper made to rattle and shake, with peaks and troughs stationed around an irresistible vocal sample: Heads down, hands up, say no more. The tempo is bumped up a notch for title track Fantasi, the creation mix flexes phased arpeggios that drift around a simple but sultry hard house bassline, which barely relents for the duration of the track. Kaleidoscopic vocal chops, prototypical stabs, skittering percussion; the B side comes together with a deliciously unified sound palate, sitting in the sweet spot between psytrance, hard house and techno.

After a sought after debut EP on their Perfumed Freedom label Foehn & Jerome return to the imprint with their versatile “Hermanngirl” release. The record spans across four original cuts, brimming with a nostalgic minimalist approach, incorporated with the distinct sound of modern times from the Berlin based duo, a reflection of the highly anticipated Perfumed Freedom parties they run. Diving into PFFD002 you will discover a refined blend of hypnotic and stripped back structures infused with distinct house grooves with an intricate and detailed energy for the floor. A producer pairing that continue to evolve their sound, developing the direction of their Perfumed Freedom set up but maintaining the direction at the core, timeless yet hypnotic.

“Other Phases Of Sleep” is Amsterdam based artist Kennedy’s first excursion beyond his ever-consistent imprint “Dream Machine”. On this EP he further explores the ethos behind his creative process he describes as - "a series of thoughts, sensations and sounds occurring from a person's mind, translated by machines."

The EP calls to mind the effervescent and driving energy of early Metroplex material while also paying homage to the Vancouver Sound and the optimistic vibe of the early 90s. Playful, sophisticated, and life-affirming dance music for those looking to uplift their mind, body, and soul.

Pacific Rhythm alumni Space Ghost rounds out the EP with a masterful remix of “Asleep” that slows the energy down to a crawl and leans into his love of UK Street Soul and cosmic flourishes.

Label boss Ste Roberts makes his debut on his imprint Private Parts, and he has invited his favorite Dutch duo the Young Adults along for the ride. X-Change Of Parts Vol 1 brings one original track from each artist, and then remixed by each other. Kicking off the EP with the quirky and twisted minimal throbber of Brain Freeze. Fun and ideal to wig out any dancefloor in those early hours. Young Adults with a perfect remix, maintaining all the fun for a heads down shuffle. A cheeky toast-apella to round of the A. On The flip, you have Young Adults ramping up the tempo, and delivering some incredibly funky tech. This sounds like it could be 20 years old, timeless stuff. Rounding off the EP Ste Roberts twists things up with a pulsating bass heavy Electro remix.

Two worlds collide as the sound of tINI lands on Anthea’s sought after Partisan imprint, close friends since the beginning of their careers this release also celebrates their longstanding friendship that was rekindled during covid and is currently being expressed as a b2b… — a highly anticipated release seeing tINI explore a multitude of terrains, addressing slick and classy underground moods across four cuts. This is the ”Derailed” EP.

Rumbling mechanical movements lead the way in the A1 “Tryagain”, nostalgic vocoder samples flashing in and out amongst the madness. “Consciousness” maintains the rave energy of its predecessor, bringing further tripped out peak time action to the EP, laced with tinges of acid. Built upon a killer elastic groove is the B side opener “Namastedit”, a vocal nodding towards 90s garage breathes life into the spaced out forward motion of the track. Secretsundaze marks a new chapter in the institution’s storied history with the foundation of imprint 9FINITY. Stemming from founder James Priestley’s daughter Ludo’s toddler-speak of ‘9FINITY’ to define something massive or huge, the label aims to run with this descriptor through no-nonsense, discerning dance records from artists at the vanguard of modern club music.

The label makes a statement with its maiden release, a V/A compiled with the considered curation synonymous with the Secretsundaze name.

9FINITY001 brings together the talents of Eoin DJ, DJ Life, Luca Attanasio, Coffintexts and E-Talking across 5 tracks and digital bonus that act as a distillation of the label’s sonic vision.

The EP kicks off with Eoin DJ’s ‘Red Rubber Roses’ (Rhythm Dub). A deep, yet driving affair that melds a subtle break with an organ bass line. Think Junior Vasquez meets Radiant Love and you’re getting close. Joining Eoin DJ on the A-side is Naarm production wizard DJ Life with ‘Aberration’. A true headspinner, Life pulls out all the stops on this one, brooding D n’ B style low end, his trademark psychedelic flourishes and a mid-track pace change for good measure. A statement of intent for the imprint on its opening stanza.

The flip opens with exciting newcomer Luca Attanasio’s ‘I Like You Mind’. Straight up intelligent modern house music to kick start the B-side with moody keys and sensual vocal samples juxtaposing a rising bassline that emphasizes groove. Next is Coffintexts’ percussive ‘Make U Sweat’. Doing exactly what is says on the tin, a bold club track with a heavy Latinx vibe that implores the listener to move. Last but certainly not least, E-Talking closes out an impressive opening outing for 9FINITY with the balearic tinged, progressive ‘Party’.

With the perfect fusion of Animalia's wide realm of styles and foundations, comes up & coming Australian producer al dente, with a minimal, modern take on peak-time bangers. Detroit Swindle cap off a blazing summer as they return home to their own Heist Recordings and in doing so present a landmark 12 to add to their blooming catalogue. This is their first addition to the label since the hugely successful 'In Reverse' EP and it comes as a package that fans both old and new will relish: a jubilant record melding the most groove­laden strands of Disco, Funk, Soul and House. Oh yeah - and to top it all off, the guys have collared one of the greats for a remix in the one and only Matthew Herbert. 2016 has brought with it a wide range of experiences and subsequent influence for Detroit Swindle as they've continued on their ascent. This has certainly added further colour to their musical output as the pair have snowballed through a Heist Recordings Boiler Room showcase, a recent mix for Gilles Peterson's Worldwide series, a live tour through the USA and dj highlights include sets at Prince Charles Berlin, Concrete Paris and Star Festival in Kyoto. The 'Circular city' EP evinces this as it brings together tracks for varying dancefloor moments and comes rounded off with a typically inventive remix from one of House Music's most extolled veterans. Her mix of innovation and compelling grooves continues on this latest EP. The vocals on the opener 'Magic Moment' are a poem Francesca's friend Victoria sent to her. She kept them for four years before ?nding the special inspiration that encouraged her to use them in these writing sessions. They lend the tune an intimate feel and draw you in deep to the elegant house drums and warming synths. It's an uplifting and classy tune with a standout Moog bassline that will lock in the floor. After the dub version is 'Sea,' a much more twisted and peak time techno tune. The synths are spangled over jacked-up drums, with edgy textures and late-night menace all making it a sure-?re winner This is another tasteful take on techno from Francesca Lombardo.
