Roman Flügel needs no introduction, so lets not hammer on about his lengthy history as a kingpin of contemporary German dance music, his essential contributions to the musical evolution of Darmstadt and Frankfurt, his achievements as a virtuosic multi-instrumentalist traversing genres with remarkable grace, his sense of dynamism and urgency in the construction of big-room anthems or the meticulously woven textures of melancholy found throughout his minimalist work, his ability to pay homage to pioneers of his musical heritage without diverting to pastiche, his fearless combination of familiar melody with synthesized aberration and imperfection, his approach to instrumentation as Haiku poetry where the ordinary is made profound through simple isolation, his rejection of stylistic pretense and acceptance of comforts found in the constructs of folk and pop, his contrast of cold efficiency with a warm naivete´, his yearning to return down previously-forged paths with a new accumulation of experience, the confidence to paint the room blue when it was meant to be black, his belief that a beautifully executed idea will always transcend the need for incessant polishing, the way in which he leads arrangements to the edge and only implies a resolve, his framing of musical narratives as sketches, outlines, or skeletons where the listener's perception compliments the whole, or his notion that sometimes stories might not need a clear articulation but might only come through in hints of mood, pace, and color, a language which doesn't rely on words to communicate but which paints for us in Themes. Yes, rather than hearing our attempt to elaborate on Roman's Flu¨gel's debut album with the ESP Institute, lets just simply listen.

German Krink presents his newest release on Underyourskin after his great "The Wilderness EP" on URSL. For the remix work he asked Tamer Malki (Kindisch, Supernature) from Boston.

BAR records is the lovechild of BAR Rotterdam, a club founded in 2013. BAR records will release a variety of music linked to the club, by people that are regularly playing in the laid back colorful space that is BAR. We are excited to announce the first release with French label owner of Macadam Mambo, Sacha Mambo, who made us some trippy originals, and local Fader (from Borneo). He created a trancy banger aswell as a more dreamy house track.

Melting our minds for over two decades with his beat-based productions, this time renowned techno-producer Anthony Child aka Surgeon is putting the fundamental components of electronic sound production to the fore. Focussing on the development of timbre and texture, Child creates exquisite drones, that give an insight in his improvisatory sensibility and dig deep into the potentials of modular synthesis, As the title already indicates, it's a very special setting that he has chosen for this endeavour: The jungle of Maui seems to have acted as a stimulus for this exercise in concentration and trance. The intertwining of the electronic instrument that meets the sublime sounds of nature, opens up an intimate resonant chamber. Birds, insects and raindrops are allowed to break through, while you can sense the thick, humid air and deep colours of the surrounding resonating in the pastose synth lines. Some tracks offer beautifully built overtone-drones, others are structured by playful arpeggios that create a shining bright texture and seduce us into a state of disintegration. At the same time Child gives priority to the graininess of the instrument to emphasise the haptic quality and inner tension of the sounds themselves. In the end these minimalist procedures have been compiled to an unpretentious collection of sonic and atmospheric micro-jewels, inviting us to give ourselves over entirely and exclusively to listening.

Art-Aud returns on cassette with the follow up of the time tunnel mixtape made by Andrea Benedetti aka sprawl last year. Another 90 min trip of old school madness, this time cooked up by the amazing rising artist, Mad Miran. "Me and Miran have known each other for a long time now, I don't even remember as we have come to be in touch the first time. She was still an unstoppable party goer, badass music lover, and the idea of playing tunes was still far away and insecure. But slowly over time we helped to convince herself to finally make it. And she fuckin did it. Since I gave her actually dj name (I save you the funny story), mrs Mad Miran made enormous steps, and even if I knew about her talent, I did not imagine all that much really (and to become that fast my actual favorite dj lol). Over the course of the last decade, Black Pepper label boss Jose Manuel has proved to be one of electronic music's finest contemporary alchemists, conjuring percussive, intoxicating and otherworldly musical treats for such labels as Tusk Wax, Kinfolk, Kill The DJ, Optimo Trax and Music For Dreams.

The genius of Manuel's productions lies in the Italian's ability to conjure cracking cosmic compositions out of a diverse range of global rhythms, instruments and influences. Rarely has this been more evident than on his debut release for NuNorthernSoul, a four-track serving of dancefloor mysticism that puts mind-altering rhythms and saucer-eyed instrumentation front and centre.

Track, for example, the light and dreamy wrapped sumptuous Balearic synthesizer chords and melodies around gentle hand percussion and drifting Zambian vocals on the sublime 'Journey in Lusaka' followed by the feverish, trance-inducing African rhythms, delay-laden chants, psychedelic acid lines and jangling Jew's Harp motifs of intense opener 'Journey in Lusanda', a ritualistic Afro-Cosmic onslaught ripe for peak-time plays. If the EP opener is all about being flat on your back and staring skywards, the follow up is all about druggy, heads down sweatiness!

Manuel's deep love of Indian music is explored on 'Journey in Mumbai', where exotic sitar lines, fluttering clarinets and echoing, densely layered female vocals rise above a thick, tabla-fired groove. It's naturally hugely evocative and atmospheric - a fine dose of emotion-rich spirituality capable of inducing hallucinations in the straightest of listeners.

To complete the EP, our hero travels even further east for 'Journey in Osaka', a fittingly percussive exploration of Japanese music's past and present that also includes audible nods towards the poly-rhythmic drums of West Africa. It's a superb combination of traditional instrumentation, 21st century electronics, heavyweight rhythms and mood-enhancing melodic flourishes.

Like the rest of the Journeys In...EP, it's both hugely alluring and impeccably produced.

Helixir's back for his second 12'' on 7even Recordings!

After the buzz of his Narcotik Dub / Springz and Wires cut some months back, Helixir do it again with 'Helicraft' and 'Dub 4 P.', blending in his music shaker all kinds of influences, from Dubstep to Techno, Jungle, Breakstep and Dub, produced and executed with immense attention to detail.

'Helicraft'is just a mad track! Wicked beats, Techno loops, Old Skool sounds and tricky mixing potential make it a proper killer cut, as heard in Mary Anne Hobbs' BBC Experimental radio show. The other side of this double A Side, 'Dub 4 P.' is a real smasher, rolling on a broken beat+bass 4/4 riddim bringing the horns to the dancefloor. Killer.

Hugo Massien returns to E-Beamz to complete his hat-trick of releases. This time out he brings arguably his most explorative and refined work to date.

Katerina from Helsinki - Finland via Sofia - Bulgaria is a passionate music lover, a skillful DJ, an imaginative music maker and an emotional and hyper sensitive artist. She produces music that is essential and timeless, tracks that feel necessary in your life once they have entered it.

Katerina has already contributed to the ever growing, always radical and forward thinking catalogue of the Co´meme music collective, with tracks on the compilations 'Solidarity Forever' Vol. 1 and 3. She also hosts a show on radio Co´meme called Radio Emotsiya, in which she generously shares her broad musical knowledge and her very particular musical obsessions, for instance her steady - and in our opinion very understandable - veneration of DJ Quik.

And yes, her music breathes the emotionality of Hip Hop, the sensitivity of well placed, swinging beats, and that steady survival mode, that essential melancholy in dance music: where melodies tell about love and longing, and rhythms help you to keep going on. 'Just when you thought it was over', here we go again, it's another day on planet Emotsiya, from where Katerina sends us reports about her adventures, always sided by her already legendary white cat No¨po¨:

One of Firecracker's Founding Fathers returns once more, this time shoving two fingers up to current DJ conventions smashing out a 150 BPM electrofunk hybrid. On the flip, two deeper cuts traversing ambient wormholes and reflecting that classic Linkwood sound.Ultimately, a miscellany of unique, syncopated weirdo sounds, barely orbiting the outer regions of dance music; or, depending on how you look at it, three timeless cuts designed for the dance floor, the sofa and all points in between.

Lurka returns to Timedance with the follow to his 2016 single Beater. The Bristol producer turns to dial up to eleven here with two expertly designed carnival stompers. Combining a knack for groove like no other alongside sound design from another planet, this record helps stamp Lurka out as one of the most singular and exciting dance music producers around right now. Take note!

A year after his debut outing on the label, Max Essa makes a welcome return to Hell Yeah with the Han zon Roc EP, which is another of his impossibly laidback offerings.Essa is of course the long time UK talent who has become a part of the Balearic mafia thanks to releases on labels like Aficionado, Music for Dreams, and his own Jansen Jardin. This is the second coming together of artist and label and is another timeless excursion far out to sea.
Opener 'Han zon Roc (Midori Coup)' is an epic 12 minute adventure that slowly awakens your spirit with new age guitar plucks and heavenly ambience before organic drums slowly being to drift into earshot. They grow ever larger as synths start to spray about the mix, hand drums pitter patter and big chords bring the soul-shine. It's like the soundtrack to an afternoon boat party all condensed into one brilliant cut. 'How You Showed Me Everything' then gets super chill with lazy drum tumbles, bendy guitar lines and scattered hits. Withering cosmic chords colour the airwaves and its a track that will slow your heartbeat to nothing. Last of all, 'Rain Bird's Alfalfa Jam' is a analogue drum work out with early 90s hip hop influences and diving basslines. It's light and airy, nimble and playful and of course filled with the sort of tropical rays that make all of Essa works so brilliantly escapist.

MAPS is a project by a London-based Lithuanian drummer and producer, Marijus Aleksa. This labour of love is the culmination of many hours spent touring and in-session with some of the greats of London's bubbling contemporary jazz scene, resulting in Marijus's first solo project to date. The EP combines elements of jazz, afrobeat and electronic music through free-form jamming and remixing, with movement and the dance floor firmly in mind.

Musicians featured on the record have been playing and recording with likes of The Sun Ra Arkestra, Blue Lab Beats, Tony Allen, Mark de Clive Lowe, Ibibio Sound Machine, Seun Kuti, Matthew Herbert and many others.

The record has received air play and support from the likes of Bradley Zero, Marshmello, Aaron L and Ashley Henry to name but a few.

Kingswood Drive and Accidental Return were an early teaser of this new set, due in April. Displaying their signature analogue sounds and arpeggios, alongside broken beats and soul, you wouldn't be alone in hearing the influences of Dam Funk, Herbie Hancock or Bugz In The Attic coming through on these two.
Elsewhere more jittery, playful rhythms underpin Croydon Rooftop Café Culture. As well as in the calming and ethereal Prints On The Heath, a subtle tribute to mutual hero Prince, who passed away on the unusually prolific day this and two other, currently unreleased, tracks were written and recorded.Throughout the EP the duo nod at their London home from the "Heath" to Kingswood Drive and more obviously Croydon itself. The sound of South London is threaded throughout this record with pride.
Even down to the mechanical sunset sound of EP finale Thorns, capturing some of the essence of the studio view over London from their high point on the hill in Thornton Heath.
The first EP from Albert's Favourites co-founders and synth-production duo Modified Man focused on throwing out heavy editing, recording music with as few processes as possible and grabbing performances as single takes. Blending warped cassette recordings that touched upon early jazz-funk/brit-funk influences with the energy of broken beat and experimental electronica, won them support from Patrick Forge, Osunlade, Thris Tian, Yam Who and Titeknots to name a few.
Since that release they premiered new track Thorns live on Boiler Room, going on to deliver a full, three-hour live performance and DJ set for the infamous global community.They also provided remixes for Dele Sosimi, Amp Fiddler, Makadem & Behr and Hector Plimmer, meanwhile, busily preparing a series of four, six-track vinyl EPs which will be released over the next 18 months.

Articulat is the (new) artist name of Ovidiu Stanciu, a Romanian dj/producer living in Rotterdam. Under the moniker Manikin, he worked on several concept albums with titles like Popular Mechanics, Taxim and Grandma's Attic Revival over the last couple of years. While selecting tracks for this debut EP it felt like curating a 'best of', and we chose to put three thriving and pounding slow-beat bangers on the A side, and to show more of Articulat's versatile style on the B-side. Expect experimental electronic songs inspired by themes like Steampunk and Romanian folklore, very precisely engineered to experience storytelling in the most physical way.

Having been an electronic activist in Marseille for more two decades and more, DJ OIL is now a firm staple of LDDLM. Following the RAIN ep released in the summer 2016, here is the first 2018 outing from us: the already bubbling HERITAGE ep.

Low Flung presents a new four tracker rich with dreamy soundscapes, emerging bass adventures and subtly dub leaning drum machine rhythms. As the head of the impeccably curated Moontown Records, Low Flung aka Danny Wild has been a driving force in uncovering and releasing amazing Australian recordings since 2012. As a producer and artist Wild is extremely accomplished, releasing a stack of EPs and just recently his debut LP 'Blow Waves' on Ken Oath Records. You may also remember his contribution to the first volume of the Domestic Documents compilation 'Quietreakin Outly'

On the A side we are treated to two long form cuts 'Deep Dribble' and 'Shallow Sleep'. The former is a beautiful leftfield digi-dub amalgamation. A heavy hitting bassline emerges from the misty textures before a killer rhythm appears. On 'Shallow Sleep' we indulge in over 12 minutes of brain tingling ambience, rich with field recordings and textures. The B side looks to the quirkier side of Wild's productions. On 'Exotic Dirt (Blend 43 Dub)' and 'Air Dry' off kilter rhythms and zonked out skanking synth chords take full charge while maintaining a sense of warmth

Sit back or stand up, day or night, different moods for all open minds in this stunning EP from one of Australia's unsung heroes!

Whilst a certain Parisian electronic duo were still (probably impossibly chic) toddlers, French band/production Space had worked out that making lots of hooky synth disco and wearing Space suits in public at all times were a potent pop combination, one that enabled them to sell 12 million records across 4 albums from 1977-81, before imploding in the time honoured fashion of lawsuits and bitter recrimination all round.

Space was the brain child of French producer JP Iliescuo. He assembled a crack band of French session musicians for (at the time) a previously unheard cosmic-disco-synth combination. The unforgettable melodies came from talented young composer Didier Marouani (also known as Ecama). The musicianship from Roland Romanelli and Jannick Top, Joe Hammer and Madeline Bell.

Fast forward over 4 decades and for our debut release we at Array Recordings are proud to present our first release which captures the essence of those 4 albums, and the breadth and diversity of their sound in one 14 track extravaganza. All remastered to present a new sonic experience.

"Magic Fly" sounds as fresh and other-worldly now as it did then with it's irresistible hookline, whilst at another end of the spectrum, "Carry On Turn Me On" remains Space's most genuine contribution to the disco pantheon, with it's orgasmic vocals and floor destroying, organic groove.

"Running In the City" and "Air Force" is the sound of forgotten futures past, "Flying Nightmare" a cosmic funk odyssey. "Deliverance" remains one of the few Disco tracks to feature a full male voice choir and "Deeper Zone" ushers in the sound of the 80's.

The band were not short on conventional pop moments, "Save Your Love For Me", an epic, over blown euro-synth pad belter, full of genuinely synthetic emotion. "Symphony" is grand, positive and catchy as. The band also knew how to preserve (and intensify) the emotion at the slower tempos. "Just Blue" is a gradual funk odyssey and a perfectly plastic soul. The haunting, dystopic "Velvet Rape" draws the work to an menacing close

The compilation is a fitting tribute to one of Europe's great forgotten innovators.

For their third release Clandestino step into the light themselves to present two original cuts. Here, shades of classic Chicago and Detroit complement a modern production aimed at discerning dance-floors. 'Another Horizon' has a heady late-eighties feel; ascending sunrise chords and gentle keys swell organically giving way to a burbling 303 line.'Quiet Storm' quickens the tempo; rattling 707 drums set the tone eventually revealing a stripped down bass groove while a teasing Juno arp weaves in and out giving way to a devastating piano hook.
Fresh from his recent work with Lizards on Leng Music and Futureboogie and a solo outing on Man Power's MeMeMe imprint, James Hadfield's version of 'Another Horizon' is a warm, pulsating blissed out re-interpretation; not unlike Larry Heard's deeper moments. The always reliable Pete Herbert turns in a shimmering house rework of 'Quiet Storm'. Moog bass stabs bedrock an italo style rhythm section and boogie guitar licks while the piano hook of the original is given more presence before breaking down into a pure dance-floor moment.

After a barnstorming live reunion which saw them play to ecstatic audiences across Europe throughout 2017, Britain's giants of electronic music Orbital are back, with new music and an upgrade of the legendary live show that transformed festivals across the world.

First single Tiny Foldable Cities opened the account, an intricate piece of electro-hypnotica, takes their signature sound forward into a new and fascinating phase, heralding their first new album in five years, Monsters Exist.

Throughout 2018 they play a string of high-profile festival dates and headline shows across Europe, featuring new material alongside classics like 'Chime', 'Belfast' and 'Impact'.

This surge of creativity shows how reunited brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll have rebuilt one of electronic music's best-loved partnerships after Orbital's surprisingly bitter break-up in 2012. They'd been onstage with Stephen Hawking at the Paralympics, in front of the whole world. They'd remixed Madonna. They'd played Glastonbury many times and travelled the world yet were driven apart by music's strange and infamous brother-vs-brother dynamic. But now the brothers have a pact: whatever happens, Orbital does not stop. They've learned to talk and accept each other. As Paul says, "If we were both the same, then it wouldn't be Orbital."

This 1982 Belgian 'Kosmisch' stunner was originally issued by 'CRETS' or Centre de Recherche et d'Etudes. The seven extended pieces form a course of 'sound therapy' similar in tone to Angel Rada's 'hand played' explorations in rubato-rooted forms. The largely tonal pieces - recorded using string and choir synthesizers, vocoders, drum machines, etc. along with a heavy battery of phasing and time-based effects-lands somewhere between a 'library music'-styled mood excursion and a genuinely transformative mind melter that ranks as one of the more obscure entrants into the...obscure electronic music canon.

Finnish mainstayers K-X-P get's remixed by Mika Vainio and Optimo. The latter provides a UK style club mix with narley Manchster type vocals. The real gem comes from the late Mika Vaino where the trademark noise/chord soundscapes juggle with very sparse & slow but rhythmical drums leaving everything centered around the strength of a deep, dark and souverein bass line.

Young Paint (aka Jade Soulform aka Francis aka Generation 4 aka AZD) is a Learning Program that has been progressively emulating the Greyscale to Silvertone process Darren J. Cunningham started during the recording of the Hazyville LP on Werkdiscs in 2008. A decade later much of the Actress material, both composed, recorded and performed live has incorporated partially independent YPAi. Throughout the course of 2018 and into 2019 both Actress and Young Paint will record, conduct and perform collaboratively. Their Live AV show at the venue Art Peckham, London on Saturday 13th October will be a debut performance of the Young Paint material. The Mini album Young Paint will be released on limited Vinyl end of September 2018.

Mexican guitarist and ambient artist Eblen Macari's Música Para Planetarios (Music for Planetariums) was originally composed for weekly performances in the Luis Enrique Erro Planetarium in Mexico City to accompany a voyage through the galaxy. The album, released in 1987 was based around Macari's solo performances using Ensoniq ESQ-1, a Korg Poly 800, two guitars and pre-hispanic Ocarinas. The expanded arrangements recorded for the album include a full stable of pre-hispanic percussion and beautiful baroque harpsichord played by Macari's wife. This expansive interplanetary soliloquy is undoubtedly Macari's masterpiece. Remastered from the original master tapes.

Poolside began as a recording project in a converted Los Angeles backyard pool house in early 2011, producing sunny tracks of subaquatic indie dance music in this makeshift recording studio. Surfacing first in the form of a YouTube video for the catchy track "Do You Believe" Poolside were soon gaining local and national attention, with DJs like James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, techno legend Derrick May, and disco don Todd Terje spinning these tracks at events and a growing online following. Throughout 2011 Poolside continued making waves with a sound called "daytime disco" through tracks like their cover of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" and original tunes. In 2012 Poolside worked on a remix for longtime disco punks The Rapture and held fans over with a new single and video for a song called "Slow Down" as they prepared to release their debut album. That album, Pacific Standard Time, was self-released in July of 2012.

After the album's release, remixes for artists like Matthew Dear, Little Dragon and Fool's Gold soon followed, as well as rehearsing and touring with a live band and doing DJ sets around the world. As thoughts turned to a second album, Poolside went on ice for a year to regroup, beginning to work in earnest on another album in the Fall of 2016. While still revolving around the sunny, laid-back disco sound of PST, these sessions yielded the additions of up-tempo dance songs and more guitars, and generally more fleshed-out arrangements. Poolside surprise released their second album Heat in 2017.

Lake People's Point EP outlines the idea of an album and manages to unfold a climax. While the opener 'Point in Time' delivers a playful, floating-hypnotic depth, 'tipping point' chills the dance floor with a relaxed groove. The B-side shows a much darker character than his previous releases. With unconventional sound-frameworks it oscillates between electronica, ambient and IDM. The ethereal melancholy that Lake People promised gets richer and is taken to another level. He created a liaison between the A and B side, which each stand for themselves, but are connected by their soft, rounded aesthetic appeal. In addition to the recently released remixes for Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Nico Stojan or Here is Why, the Point EP demonstrates the great diversity of styles pursued by Lake People.

Comprised of the duo of Emmanuel Corre and Silvere Letelier, Nummer have surprised and impressed many with their fresh take on the last 20+ years of dance music. Inspired by the deepest strains of Detroit, Chicago, New York and their native France the pair have tapped into something that few artists manage these days - an original style. This sprawling 2 x 12" touches on many of these cornerstones but never apes anyone's sound or vibe, forging their own path into the cosmos and beyond.
