In a whirlwind of sex, independence, honesty and darkness, rising star Bebe Black is set to release 'The Deathwish EP' on Jan 21st.
Citing Courtney Love, old-school Madonna, Siouxsie Sioux and Kate Bush as her influences, the singer-songwriter from Dorset, a former fashion student who looks as if she's just stepped off the set of This Is England, writes about love and pain on the release with the candour of someone who's seen it too many times before.
Bebe said: 'Each track on the EP is about grief and anguish, sex and love. They were written as a confession and a release, which I found cathartic. I wanted the tracks to be rhythmic and sexual sounding, but when you scratch beneath the surface you find something honest and raw.'

The Petrified Forest mini-album is inspired by the movie of the same name, released in 1936 and directed by Archie Mayo. Psychedelic new jazz trio, pioneers in the Tel-Aviv music scene, mainly by introducing through this band a brand new sound, blending jazz with rock and electronics. Guitarist/pedal master Yonatan Albalak, drummer/producer Aviv Cohen (aka Sol Monk) and bass player Gilad Abro, are all well-known jazz-oriented musicians, constantly performing around the world with various projects. The three create under the name of LayerZ since 2010.

'Things on Top of Each Other' is their second album, written and recorded during a 3 days session in the studio. It feels like a natural progression from "Memory Tower" - their first album recorded in 2012. This album has a distinctly more beats-oriented approach. Guests in the album are pianist Nitai Hershkovits, vocalist KerenDun and vocalist Marina Maximilian Blumin.

bvdub is Brock Van Wey, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. Devoting his life to the SF rave scene in the late 80's, he began to DJ and promote his own deep house and ambient events in 1991, rising 10 years before a self-imposed exile to China in 2001 to escape the state of a scene he could no longer accept. He began to produce his own music in 2006, first releasing in 2007 on Night Drive Music. Soon after, his overtly emotional sound spread to Styrax, Millions of Moments, Southern Outpost, and Meanwhile, before a natural and gradual shift to his trademark ambient onslaughts saw him call n5MD, Glacial Movements, AY, Darla, echospace (detroit), Kompakt, his own Quietus Recordings, and many more home. Now returned to his hometown, he has continued his prolific output, with a string of self-released CD and digital-only releases, a monolithic rework of Vortexual (element seven) for echopace (detroit), and his newest, most wistful and hypnotic work yet - his return to Glacial Movements, with Epilogues for the End of the Sky. Brock has also released numerous ambient projects under his given name, deep house as Earth House Hold, and drum & bass as East Of Oceans.

Its springtime again. So that means its time for our yearly Array compilation. It is a swell round up of the hits from the past year, some special new gems and a few of our upcoming top tracks.

We open up with one of our best sellers from 2016, Bristol, UK based Situation and their big swinging dancefloor fill "Get To Know Me". It powers along with a fine male house vocal and a top notch remix from UK based Hot Toddy. Carrying on in the big floor Disco next is a upcoming gem from Nang, Slovenian producer extraordinaire Sare Havlicek. He debuts a dub mix of a lead track "EFO" from his upcoming fourth LP. Its chic-tastic grooves and tight bass guitar and funk chops adding gallons of disco shine.

Russian newcomer Taras 3000 is next up. He keeps the bass guitar rolling with his synthy disco-smash "Piano Bar". Next things take a robotic-disco turn with James Rod and his onpoint, programmed layered synth grooves. German based Eriq Johnson melds the early 80s rap vocal with a chunky locked on groove next. We pause for breath with the refreshing "Six Month" next. Wondrous synths and uplifting pads.

Things spin off in an Italo direction next with the "Spy In The Sky" chunker from Italo Brutalo. Things take a groovy turn with 5 Reasons debuting a new track. Picked and funky guitars mix in with soulful 80s grooves and keys to deliver another one of their fine aural escapades. Madrid based Rayko is next. Here he debuts a track from his forthcoming Nang LP. Here he partners with Tania Haroshika on the sultry vocals for a guitar heavy soulful smouldering disco smash.

Deepkey contribute a muscular "Aircraft Lovers". Its some smooth vocal disco-house next with the newly formed Kontinents. Here they debut their cover version of "Be With You" to fine effect. US based Aimes is next with a "A View From Istanbul". Spy like grooves and mysterious keys tied up with dancefloor beats. Things round off the main CD with the Beatbroker remix of Plastic Fantastics "La Salinas 5AM". It's a fine sunrise Balearic moment.

From across the Pennines, AB2088 aka Andy Brown presents his debut album of experimental techno 'Sagittarius' on Computer Club. An often tense journey over Cybertronian landscapes, the industrial sci-fi soundtrack is simultaneously inviting and fierce. Rhythms reverberate through the static with an occasional bubbling of electro-funk. This is electronic music that is bleakly distant and yet eerily familiar.

After a string of releases on Melting Pot Music, Plane Jane and Yoruba Soul - vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Miles Bonny returns to the Bastard Jazz family for a special one off 7" paying homage to the Purple One, covering Prince's "Dear Mr. Man", a track that couldn't be more timely considering the state of the world.
"Miister Man" goes for the jugular with a low slung drum break, a deep synth bassline, Miles signature understated funky vocal growls and horn injections. The instrumental is included on the flip.

Live From Concrete Island is the debut album from Brighton based producer Stephen Maskell, aka The Nag's Head. Taking material from the last four years, he's created a head-spinning tapestry of melodic techno and crushed cityscapes. Like Echospace, Maskell's "destroyed" visions nail the feeling of being a stranger in a strange land. For the city's lolloping, dubby percussion we reach deep into its guts, pulling out a squiggly bricolage of pistons, pool balls, window frames, jets of steam. In turns rasping and narcotic, Concrete Island's beatless sections are akin to the crunching menace of early Clark, or Murcof's cosmic space treatments. An occasional shimmer guitar pop gem emerges from the rubble.

Wonderwheel Recordings is very proud to present the long awaited debut album "Bennu" by Queens, NY based produced Thor Partridge, aka Thornato. Building up a name for himself over a number of years as a proficient and in-demand remixer, Thor's breakout tune "Gaita Gaita" has been sampled thousands of times by producers all over the world, and has become a certified hit record in South America. A string of remixes and a couple of rare song releases later, Thor's groundbreaking Things Will Change EP was released via Wonderwheel in 2016 garnering massive buzz and record sales, resulting in a European tour that summer, and a Boiler Room performance in the fall.
"Bennu" represents a giant leap forward for Thornato, as he showcases his chops in crafting dancefloor gems from the ground up. While the electronic production of the album provides a strong backbone, Thor has carefully selected artists from Jamaica, Ecuador, South Africa, Colombia, Canada and beyond to breathe live energy into each song. From the massive bass driven energetic dancehall vibes of "Rhinoceros" featuring veteran chat master Gappy Ranks, to earth shattering chopped up African dancefloor sounds of "Chagamei" to the contemplative Flamenco influenced deep house sound of "Welwyn", and moving into the uplifting & soulful dembow vibes of "Tu Luz" featuring Lido Pimentia - "Bennu" is an album that carefully navigates through the globe while maintaining a cohesive and consistent feel from start to finish.

"Produzione", originally released in 1973 on Piero Umiliani's LP "Problemi d'oggi", is an amazing mix of acoustic percussion and electronic experimentation, considered by some as the first example of techno / trance music ever recorded. This song, along with "Attività", another excerpt from "Problemi d'oggi", has been 'reworked' by Gerardo Frisina, who cleverly extends the original content by mixing it with contemporary electronic sensations. The result, packaged in an artwork inspired by the original 1973 release, are two tracks in which the '70s avant-garde and today's music blend with surprising ease.

Once again, Raphaël Laredo slipped through the authorities fingers : he does not care about the rules anymore, he infringes the

For their first release of 2017, Phuture Shock Excursions venture further afield with an accomplished remix package, featuring two reworks of Nubian Mindz'(Colin Lindo) soulful house gem 'Somebody Else' - which appeared in its original form on last years 'EXCURSIONS' # 3 split EP.

On this bold occasion the Bristol imprint have enlisted the masterful talents of Cavern of Anti-Matter - the latest side project led by Stereolab co-founder Tim Gane. Having so far remixed songs by mainly indie-rock artists, the Berlin-based outfit turn their hand to the disparate realms of underground dance music for the first time. Also lending their seasoned expertise and going against the grain is Sean O'Hagan - the frontman of experimental indie-pop stalwarts The High Llamas.

Residing on the A-side is Cavern of Anti-Matter's epic reconstruction, which eschews the synth- heavy kosmische explorations they're widely known for, in favour for a more dance floor-leaning direction that takes Lindo's vocals on a funky, kaleidoscopic trip across the galaxy via 80s Detroit. Laced with crisp drum machine beats, groovy analogue synth lines aplenty and lush shimmering chords reminiscent of Gane's former groop, it sits somewhere between the raw electro-funk of Cybotron and quite possibly what The Neptunes would sound like if they made techno. While on the flipside Sean O'Hagan serves up a dreamy dub, where select fragments of the original vocals float across soothing passages of live instrumentation. Before the arrangement seamlessly flits between moments of jazzy electric piano grooves and swirling organs, through to melodic baroque pop interludes in 3/4 time - that probably wouldn't sound out of place in the scene of a Pixar animated movie. Shy of just three minutes in length, it's delightfully short and sweet, yet leaves you wanting more upon every listen.

The nature of Melodica is perfectly explained by the very first sentence of its manifesto: "The radio show that turned into a record label". Born from the mind of radio DJ Chris Coco, the label has been releasing an incredibly heterogeneous mix of music since its start, recreating the same atmospheres included in the radio show. You can then find between the imprint's releases different genres, from experimental and electronica, to slo-mo disco and house music. We present London-based band Deekie's second album 'Solitaire', a collection of 10 ethereal and insightful tracks.

Deekie are Mr. L and Neets, both musicians and singers, with 2 very distinctive imprints in each of their music making: Mr. L with his voice creates deep and melancholic feelings toward the album, while Neets adds a more dreamy and delightful touch.

The LP crosses different genres, from ambient to leftfield but it reveals the song-writing soul of the duo: from the experimental opening title track 'Solitaire', that mixes a slow relentless beat with hypnotic synth-lines and Neets delayed vocalizations, to the purely ambient 'Radiate' in which dark and profound noises are merged with reverberated drums and percussions, until the almost post-dubstep "Come On Home", the right closing track, as for its unending vibe, leads into the band future projects, reminding of some of The XX early music.

From his early releases as Lusine onward, Je- McIlwain's electronic explorations make up one of the more diverse discographies of the past decade and a half. E-ortlessly blurring the lines between techno, electro-pop and experimental composition, the Texas-raised/Seat-tle-based producer's arrangements are meticulously constructed, but also filled with emotion and soul. With an introspective turn that's hinted at in the record title, Lusine's fourth album for Ghostly sees McIlwain di-using the pop-leanings of 2013's The Waiting Room with opaque, brush-stroked melodies washing over these new buoyant productions. I suppose the concept behind Sensorimotor pulls from a special kind of double meaning of the word,' McIlwain reveals. The literal, to me, is the integration of your senses with actions, like with birds and how they move so fluidly in flocks. It's just fascinating how their brains are able to comprehend such quick actions collectively at once.' The symbolic is a bit harder to put into words,' he adds. I guess it's just the concept of figuring out how much control you have over your artistic output—what types of restrictions you should place on it versus how much of it just involves instinct and intuitiveness.'

Indeed, Sensorimotor is a visceral album, with gorgeous opener Canopy' slowly building into an empyrean cloud of music box chimes and an amorphous thrum. The following Ticking Hands' is just as beguiling yet also more formed, with the processed melancholy vocals of McIlwain and his wife Sarah filtered into a chilling lament that unfolds over the song's light skitters and Kraftwerkian pulse.

Sarah and I wrote this song ( Ticking Hands') as a kind of catharsis for the time we spend apart when I'm touring,' McIlwain explains. It's about the idea of being somewhere and wishing your other half was there to experience those moments.'

Sensorimotor finds other past Lusine collaborators returning as well, with longtime friend Benoît Pioulard's narcotic croon looped into a swirling arpeggio during Witness.' Vilja Larjosto also makes two appearances, with her sun-kissed vocal melodies spliced and splayed across the steady pulsing bass and fluorescent synth pads of Just a Cloud,' and later on Won't Forget,' delivering a breathy processed melody atop a jaunty shu-le of cut-up woodwind instruments and keys.

Working with an arsenal that includes an MPC1000, a borrowed Prophet 5, hand percussion, glockenspiel, as well as field recordings and samples of live instruments, McIlwain's productions often merge the digital world with the real world. Yet from the fluttering Terry Riley-esque samples of woodwinds in Chatter' to the epic, widescreen synths of The Lift,' Sensorimotor is surprisingly cohesive throughout. Its ebb and flow forms a musical narrative that's as much a Lusine album as it is a soundtrack for the listener's own imagination

DWN (aka Dawn Richard) is one of music's most distinctive voices and songwriters, developing her own unique style via a tirelessly independent route. DWN's last album Blackheart was FACT Mag's #1 album of the year, and was in Best Album of 2015 charts by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vogue, LA Times, Spin, Elle, Noisey and The Guardian, who called it the most ambitious and revelatory album of 2015'. Her first single of 2016, 'Not Above That' has sold over 2,000 units and 1,200,000 streams across Spotify and SoundCloud, and she followed it with a series of show-stealing shows at SXSW (at the Pitchfork, Spin, FACT and Hype Hotel showcases). She also collaborated with Kingdom on 'Honest', which received Pitchfork's Best New Music. In April 2016 DWN became the first ever artist to perform live in 360 degrees on YouTube, as part of YouTube's collaboration series with The Verge. With a string of chart hits and countless underground favourites to his name, Belgium-based Italian Vito Lucente stands proudly as one of Europe's most successful house artists. Recording under a multitude of aliases since the early 1990s, it is for his work as Junior Jack that he is most widely recognised.

Including a long period of collaboration with Nico ( Velvet Underground) and many dalliances along the way include John Cale, Ludus, Eric Random, Suns of Arqa, Band of Holy Joy, Low Bias, Zor Gabor and many more.

As Gagarin he has released several albums and contributed to numerous compiIations and remix projects.

His last album Biophilia received widespread acclaim andwas described in Mojo as " electronica in its rawest sense " and in Musicweek as " deeply beautiful glitchy electronica - stunning ". Other reviews and airplay include BBC Radio 3, BBC6 music, RTE, RUM, RNE, deBug, Westzeit, Rockerilla, Vital Weekly, Raveline and many more.

Under his given name Graham released an experimental cassette Outside Broadcast in 2014 through Touch's Tapeworm imprint which is based on sounds sourced from analogue radios ,and is a eulogy to that dying format.
