NYC's legendary West End record label has contributed a fair few classics to the disco cannon and continues to influence dance music today with it's forward looking releases. 'When you touch me' is no exception, recorded and released in the golden year of 1979 and featuring the breathy, sensual vocals of a young Tanaa Gardner who had previously worked as a backing vocalist for numerous other projects until the label released her (other) stone cold solo classic 'Work that body' the same year on 12".
Both cuts featured on her self titled debut LP and boasted the combined production and studio talents of Kenton Nix, Bob Blank and of course - Larry Levan. Now, that's a serious line-up to have behind the boards (& in the clubs!) and of course 'When you touch me' was a classic with it's slow, elongated intro that calls to mind a sleazier version of Donna Summer's 'Love hangover' before launching into a full-on disco assault that you won't forget in a hurry! Yes, the record surprises you, Tanaa leads us into a false sense of a 'slow jam' and then - Boom - We're off!
Backed with the incredible instrumental version the 12" is repressed here in it's original 1979 glory, an essential classic that has stood the test of time for the last 30+ years & is now available again, remastered & repressed for 2017 in conjunction with West End Records, NYC.

Rick Wilhite delivers this super strong collection of tracks made by producers coming from either New York, Chicago or Detroit. This is part 1 in a 2 volume album.
As a DJ and promoter Wilhite has been holding it down for over twenty years, and his 'Vibes New & Rare music' record store has been a main source in Detroit for soulful electronic music until its closure. The 'Vibes New & Rare music' compilation only features material that Rick Wilhite truly believes to represent the artists. After releasing Part 1 in 2010, Wilhite now delivers the sequel, featuring pioneers and new talents alike from New York, Chicago and Detroit.

Previously released on a different record label digitally (Upon You), Make Space In Your Life is presented here for the first time on vinyl. Similarly, In Between, which was also previously released digitally (Sporty Limited), has been given a new rework for the vinyl lovers. To top off the package, an exclusive new track "From The Vaults" has been freshly baked by the French producer, based in Berlin. Bloody Mary takes us back to our old 90's rave days with the rework of her tune In Between, with a well pronounced touch of Trance in its pads, well driven by a heavy acid bass line for the whole song and Mary's voice sprinkled over it. Heading to the B-side, From The Vaults takes the listener through a journey into sequenced synth, with a melody that brings lightness to a sharp bass line, supported by a bumpy rhythm.
Bloody Mary closes this EP with class on Make Space in Your Life, delivering a deep but powerful song that shows a hint of melancholy in its pads and Mary's vocals floating on the top. A well rounded three track EP from the Dame-Music chief that is sure to be heard on many dancefloors all around the world.

Next up on Titanic city, needs no introduction, Nigel Rogers AKA Perseus Traxx has been a staple part on most record bags, a man dedicated to performance outside the box, has produced one of the greatest releases we will surely drop all year.
Some kind comments in our direction had to surly be returned with a request for a release and did he deliver. Nigel's first question was "what do you like" "well we love your M>O>S, Bunker, Photic Fields, Snuff Trax. material," he returned with a little bit of all. I'm not gonna give the whole soaring pads, scraping percussive smears or the frenzied synth lines. This is Perseus Traxx he always delivers!!
There's a rough and raw DIY feel to this music that makes it jump out of the speakers and arrest your attention, as is always the case with Titanic City.

Who is DJ Fett Birger It's DJ Fett Burger, stupid. Geography Records straight outta Malmö, Sverige has awoken. Please make room in your record collection for more stupid stuff from Sweden's third biggest city, home of great falafel and bad clubs. Our fat friend from Moss, Norge takes some parts from Shakarchi & Stranéus eternal 2013 hit single 'Either Way' (GEO 005) and turns it into a dreamy cheese-pop track ready for full, half-full and really empty dance floors. On the flip side the Burg' teams up with underground Finnish talent Stiletti Ana for a literal take on the SNL quote 'more cowbell'. Please play it loud. For the third side of this single record release, Burga' Fett flangs it out with a US style bonus beats, strictly for the DJs! With this, you can play our record with an even nicer record on top! Also perfect for shout outs, birthday wishes during sets or when you're just really tired of melody and bass. All in all, a solid three track release to make it up to you that we forgot to release a record in like 1,5 years. Sorry about that. Keeping the good work and the talent for sampling, TvFrom86 explored the funk with dexterity and exactness in Purple People adding just what the sample needed to sublimate it and make it as powerful as it deserves to be. Creative Swing Alliance, side project of the talented label manager for MCDE, Pablo Valentino, and Steven Wobblejay, gave their own interpretation with and heavier bass and no less efficiency.

S3A was invited on the project for the rework of Flying Piano, the third original of the release. The French producer, very proactive at the moment with releases on Lazare Hoche, Hold Youth, Faces, Large Musique and more, definitely didn't steel his nickname. S3A Is telling us three stories in one with a rough analogic sound for an impressive result.

After making a great impression with its first EP, Giant Records serves up a second hot helping of house music from boss man Grant Dell, complete with fresh remixes by Scottish techno stalwarts Silicone Soul.
Dell, also known as Chicago Transit Authority, has been doing his do for 25 years now. As a DJ he is at home in clubs in Ibiza and Barcelona as well as around the rest of Europe, and is someone who always prefers to push his own brand of widely infused and influenced music than his own profile.
Once again here he comes up trumps with the emotive, glowing house cut 'In Your Mind'. With a neat bassline and mid tempo house drums, subtle but effective synth smears add warmth and colour to the groove, whilst soul fuelled vocals add a real sense of personality. This is sure to get people grooving at any hour and comes with Grant's own Space Echo remix. As the title suggests it's a more dubby and reverb rich affair with cosmic signifiers and sci-fi vibes pervading from start to finish.
Silicone Soul need little introduction having been at the heart of real deep house and techno for decades on the Soma label. Their first remix is a Darkroom Dub - named after their own label - and is a seductively slo-mo and lazily unfolding house cut with languid synths that really suck you in. Their lush Hypnohouse Mix is then a twinkling, late night bit of melodically rich deep house with starry skies twinkling above sombre chords.
This is a patiently served but hugely alluring EP that is stuffed with plenty of tender feeling. One again then, both Grant and Giant have come up with the goods.

Releasing an album is a daunting task, especially in dance music.
You got to keep it fresh and exciting from the very beginning until the last track, not sticking to one tempo, make tracks that work both at home and in the club and ultimately tell a story with your music.

Alexander Lay-Far knows a thing or two about this, having his debut album 'So Many Ways' out back in 2013. The thing with Lay-Far and a big reason why we've always had a soft spot for him is his way of incorporating a certain magic in the tracks that leaves you on an uplifting and optimistic note. Therefore we're really excited to release his second album, How I Communicate, on Local Talk.

How I Communicate is a two part vinyl release which we hope will come as a fresh breeze in these days where so much dance music simply lacks the actual musical aspect or the organic approach.

What can be said about LNR's "Work it to the bone" Another slamming piece of Chicago House history brought to us by the dynamic duo of Larry Thompson and Rick Lenoir (LNR - Larry N' Rick) of the cult House Jam label. This is some straight 1987 HEAT, real House music for the heads, from the very beginning! "Work it to the bone" does exactly that, works every single part of your body into a frenzy, a cacophony of jacking sparse drum programming with that infamous descending bassline and that dude chanting, asking us to join him "C'mon let's work!" This record is a total classic. Period. Featured on this official 2016 reissue we have 4 mixes of this monolithic slab of machine funk that originally came out on various pressing between 1987 - 1989: The vocal mix, the instrumental, LNR clubhouse remix and the LNR underground mix. n a sense, this is "the complete" collection of this cornerstone of Chicago House. The full set. All audio has been lifted from Rick Lenoir's private collection of reel to reel tapes from his basement and remastered accordingly. This reissue has been realised with the full involvement of Thompson & Lenoir and is 100% legit! Don't snooze, this one deserves a spot in any self respecting House heads record bag or DJ set, classic material made available again for 2016 - House is going on!

You will hear Âme with their modular slambient concept sitting next to Amsterdam's Tom Trago off peak time duties, Roman Flügel with an old DAT tape wunderkind that shares a side with Heidelberg's very own Move D in love, outsider dance from CF & Daywalker alias Entro Senestre and Willie Burns as well as a greasy sounding Marco Passarani and finally Tensnake's romantic pop appeal that is a counterpoint to Maxxi & Zeus (better known as Quiet Village) and their 'Passion' for all beauties that lie beyond.
This sometimes unlikely gathering is hopefully unified by its non-parochial view of dance- and living-room floors, ambient noise and its effectiveness as a soundtrack to long rides up and down the Autobahn.

Jonny Cade's name has cropped up on the underground circuit more and more over the past few years, the initial turning point for the fledgling star was his, 'London To Leeds', EP which was released alongside Huxley on the reputable Kolour Recordings imprint. Since then, Cade has gone on to release an array of solo single and remixes for the likes of Loco Records, Left'd and Black Key Records, and recently had one of his tracks featured on Michelle Owen's, Moodmusic compilation. A striking indication that Cade's mature and attentive approach to production is making waves in all the right places.

The release kicks off with title track 'Find My Way' which features exciting young vocalist, Ria Moran's heartfelt tones. Cade opts for swinging 909 drums and a hooky bass-lick as the driving force, while Moran's voice sporadically eases in and out of the groove and understated chord stabs and tension building strings fuel the musicality, resulting in a classy, deep-house workout. Up next is 'Dr. Fox', embracing a similar deep, contemporary house aesthetic, with saw-wave bass hits, cosseting pads and hooky vocal snippets acting as the fundamental elements of the cut, Cade then plays on subtle variations in the groove throughout its near seven minute duration, to maintain an evolving dynamism and enticement.

Entering the latter half of the single we have 'Ghostryder' up first, Cade opts for a more upfront approach this time, bringing busy drum programming to the forefront, alongside sweeping synth tones, a tom-driven bass line and dubbed out vocal licks.

The Smugglers Inn is an independent radio show/podcast which is produced and presented by Daniel Berman aka Red Rack'em/Hot Coins every second Wednesday at . The show has become a unique testing ground for new artists and productions and many of todays highly rated 'new school' producers benefited from early support on the show.

We here at WPH are not ones to celebrate each and every significant number in our history. We do not even consider numbers to be that significant. But what we do believe is that every story has its ending and that every ending should come with a bang. And so we have decided that the regular WPH series and the coloured vinyl-only series will come to an end together with one last release.
At a time when simply repacking and reselling classic releases has become more important than bringing new stuff we decided to join the reissue craze in our own special way. So we are bringing you not just a reissue, but rather a collection of three of our most wanted tracks with a little bonus thrown in that was already released but very much overlooked by the we-only-follow-what's-on-RA crowd.
We suggest you go really oldskool and buy double copies of this one, because you WILL want to play these back to back!

Following the release of Commodo's acclaimed debut LP, 'How What Time', and Memotone's 'Chime Hours' album earlier this year, Bristol label hub Black Acre have enlisted new recruits in Wallwork — co-head of burgeoning club collective, Nervous Horizon — and London grime emcee, Nico Lindsay, to deliver their latest record.

* Two-track single, 'Facts' / 'Fyah', taps into the experimental zones that both Nervous Horizon and Lindsay operate. Wallwork and Tsvi's hard, steadfast drum workouts have been a feature of their work with the label and on 'Facts', the pair turn a stripped-back, minimalist hand to a beat that Lindsay takes on with a relaxed, near-horizontal flow. With neither afraid to deviate from grime's more familiar 140bpm template, their collision of styles is not only refreshing — it's fully vindicated.

* On B-side 'Fyah', Wallwork — assisted by Nan Kolè — leans more toward UK funky, with the beat patterns softer and the percussion less harsh, instead driven by a fierce, chugging groove and twisted, wonky bass notes that Lindsay again navigates. Only featuring across certain sections of the track, his vocals phase in and out almost at will, as the beat's unrelenting sense of rhythm carries 'Fyah' firmly into club banger territory.

Ellum Audio continues on a strong run of form with their fifth release, this time from London underground hero, Eric Volta. The purveyor of dark, lean house and techno returns with 'Believe', featuring UK hip-hop hero D.ablo on vocals. With remixes from Ellum family members Danny Daze & Odd Parents, as well as Tennis, this is a release poised for some serious summer selection.

Title track 'Believe' opens up proceedings with a relentless, Juno-esque baseline, and after the introduction of an incredibly catchy organ hook it becomes quickly clear that this track is begging for a big vocal. Up steps D.ablo who really delivers! The tone of his voice sits beautifully within the mix, and after the warmly welcomed arrival of several shuffly percussive elements and a couple of breakdowns, this one is sure to have the crowd going nuts.

Danny Daze & Odd Parents up the intensity with 'Believe', and take things a little darker; adding a deep rumbling baseline and high pitched strings, and subsequently creating a real sense of drama in the mix. Up next is an offering from Berlin based, co-founder of Life & Death Tennis aka Manfredi Romano, which retains the original organ hook but this time with a more minimal, stripped back approach, keeping the groove locked in through the use of rolling rims, echo'd vocal shots and occasional minimal synth blips.

The other original on the release, 'My Senses & My Window To Your World ', slows things down to a chuggy, cosmic groove. This one burns slowly with airy pads, ghostly vocal moans, and culminates through a slow moving arpeggio to reveal an acid line in the second half.

After gaining much attention for his last release '42 Weeks' on My Favourite Robot, Eric Volta drops this huge release for the summer and Maceo Plex, through his Ellum Audio imprint, shows once again why he is so prominent within the electronic music scene.

Back with another monster of a release, Ellum Audio bring you four heavy duty remixes of the infectious jam 'New York Is Alright' from TV Baby - a killer track with 'a throb of low-resolution low-end and caustic vocals' - in the words of label boss Maceo Plex. For the A side Blackspun deliver a sensational 'Minimal Mix' and 'Acid Dub', while over on the flip Maetrik injects plenty of groove and Idjut Boys take things into another dimension! All tracks are serious DJ weaponry, each served to dominate the dancefloor in their own way at peak time.

ELL014 comes as part of a joint release with DJ Spun's label Rong Music (USA), who will be releasing the original track plus remixes from Eric Duncan.

Blackspun is made up of Jason Drummond aka DJ Spun and Mark Bell aka Blakkat. Originally from San Francisco but currently residing in New York DJ Spun's journey and career through electronic music began at the birth of House and continues to this day. L.A's Blakkat is a vocalist, producer and first class DJ also working with the biggest names in the business and gracing the decks of the best clubs in the world. Together they make the perfect team with the results clear to see from this special release.

Flying high at the top of his game Eric Erstonel aka Maetrik (Maceo Plex) recently released his DJ Kicks album on !K7 which featured the Blackspun remix.

From their North London studio, Dan Tyler and Conrad McDonnell aka the Idjut Boys have run three record labels and produced their infectious dub-heavy disco sampling house for many more. They formed their first label, U-Star, in '94 on the back of their successful club nights of the same name.

The second part of the 'what about talk about' series by baaz starts with 'owl's night'. A deep house tool with a vigorous bassline, some classic 909 elements, weird vocals and a pumpin' piano chord. 'Those Things' the second Track on the A, infects you with positive vibrations and the magic mood. The B side enters with a remix by the highly skilled producer Michel Bauman under his moniker Soulphiction. He turned the track called K.M.S. into an emotional and strong kicking house tune. A cut for the special moments. The Original is produced by Iron Curtis & Baaz . 90 Bpm, a dippy pipe organ, wooden beats and shaky percussions. (You will find the download Info for the original plus some other goodies in every record sleeve). The last track 'Whatabouttalkabout' is a lush experimental listening slice, prober for the dark and chilly winterdays.

Orbis X is a sublabel of Orbis Records and will be mainly focusing on softer yet often usable as DJ material for the broader mass interested in Electronic music. This sublabel is an extension of Orbis Records softer, more melodical and experimental side. Music will be ranging from house, dub, chicago over melodic acid and even breaks. Not any track makes it to this sublabel if it can't stand on its own and stand the test of time!

Under Her Skin might take off on a weird bit quirky dirty start, but when that lead kicks in, ... we were sold.
Extremely funky. Be aware: you can t hold yourself from clapping to this song.

On the B-side, "Winter Tale" counts as the second A track on the EP. Deep! Gentle and yet so snappy in it's own dirty way.
We fell in love from the first note, or should we say that filthy deep baseline, those dirty well mixed-in toms and snappy rude claps!

"Running Man". Well... if you like dreamy catchy house. This is for you.
A nice extra track, making this EP a brilliant pressing.

We can't emphasize the talent Alexander has.
We hope he gets more attention with this EP.

Ben Gomori's Monologues Records imprint presents its first vinyl outing: a collection of new tracks and tried-and-tested edits from the vaults.

Melon dons his Je Dàvu guise to bring us 'Don't You Need', a stomping disco work-out that's been heavily rinsed by San Proper and the select few who've been lucky enough to receive a copy over the years. Fellow Amsterdammer Uffe finally unleashes the jazzy, shapeshifting 'Keepon' nearly 50,000 SoundCloud plays later. Vilnius hotshot Ponty Mython goes deep and cute on his woozy, melodic 'Still Afraid Of Bats'. Monologues fave Thorsteinssøn rounds off the package with the chunky, tribal-tinged 'Bang' from his Copenhagen workshop.

Washington based Jackson Ryland is a relatively new name on the house and techno scene. Primarily known as a music critic for the blog 'Peanut Butter & Jams', Ryland has now donned his production hat and is turning out some jams of his own.

The title track 'Crystal City' shows a real understanding of the techno aesthetic, combining cathedral like atmospherics with rough, raw and rugged drums. The Italian tape saturation master Steve Murphy (Lobster Theremin/Chiwax/Wilson) is employed to remix the title track. Murphy brings the track back in to the realms of house and sprinkles it with his analogue know how to turn in a sub rumbling interpretation.

On the flip side Ryland picks up where he left off, this time incorporating the soundscapes of early drum and bass in to 'JP's', whilst retaining the aggressive techno drums. The EP is rounded off with 'Up the Shelf' and almost speed-garage bassline and syncopated drum pattern make up the core of the track, whilst Ryland's eerie atmospheres cement the EPs overall sound.

'Your Love Is a Vacuum' builds up to a chord focussed harmonic song with a discreetly varying sound that catches you completely. A subtle sub-bassline floats in, giving it way more more drive and leads you straight to the dancefloor. A2-Sophisticated (w&p by Lootbeg) 'Sophisticated' is a perfectly arranged deep house track, with a deeply impressive grand piano chord line slowly flowing in and completing the harmonic structure perfectly.'They Wonder Why' kicks off the B Side in fine style, deep pads, tight percussion programming and a vocal hook conspire to provide a perfectly wholesome groove. Jan Ketel's slower version of wraps things up.
