Battista - Records Hold Memories

Battista comes through with his debut solo release on Uaudio - uncompromising hardware action from the young Berliner, and a seriously strong second release for the label. After a successful first shot under the Decas moniker together with another affiliate for Uaudio 001, Battista has found his own sound - hard-hitting house-techno hybrids, gritty and straight to the point. Rising talent John Swing makes his first appearance outside his own Relative/Livejam/Appointment nexus. Every new track he lays his hands on is more quintessential than the last - funky, driving, jazzed-out, dubwise, unhinged house music with a dark, brooding techno sensibility. The label will feature a collection of artists and remixers - future releases include remixes from Vinalog (John Swing & EMG) and EMG (another Relative/Livejam kingpin).

A1. From The Otherground. The EP sets off with pure malice, bringing out the big drums for a total analogue frenzy. You can hear the improvisational takes in there, the slight irregularities spicing up the mix. The driving, pulsating beatdown style is pretty heavy on the senses, with metallic synth stabs amidst subtle swarms of acid permeating from the depths of the mix and a looming vocal sample that pushes the beat further and further out into the ether. An impressive

opener, bloodily reconciling house and techno.

A2. From The Otherground (John Swing remix). JS shreds the original to pieces and works from the ground up to re-interpret the track according to his own rules. Chugging, bold, with a hefty collection of drum breaks, it sounds like a mid-90s UK breakbeat track, slowed down, re-pitched and re-wired for contemporary damage. The low, grungy, looming bassline which swamps the bottom-end is easily recognisable as his own... but it all comes back to his drums -

they're just so grinding and effective for any DJ set. Whilst so many 'floor' tracks pack a punch, JS is also tremendously pleasurable just

to listen to: his samples and percussion are all programmed to perfection, with a raw and improvisational glide. Bumpin'....

B1. Natural Instinct. This is the craziest one of the lot. They're all pretty harsh and furious but when Battista unleashes the drums on this one, it's total war. Bare hi-hats and other percussion in the break-downs give the track a warm, real-life feel missing from much house and techno. After the break-down, the arrangement goes completely nuts (and so will the dancefloor).

B2. Flowing Through Time. The dubbiest of the four, with sweltering, detuned, delayed synth shots getting into a complete twist. Another great example of Battista's percussion-heavy, minimalistic take on house music; another Uaudio installment of terse, raw, dance-crashing monsters.

Luke Solomon - Beyond Therapy Vol.1

Now based in the heart of Leeds, the Fullbarr imprint returns with 'Beyond Therapy Vol.1' by Luke Solomon this ..., comprising four original cuts from the Classic Music Company label-head. Luke Solomon needs no introduction with a back catalogue boasting releases on Southern Fried, International Deejay Gigolo, Leftroom, Crosstown Rebels and of course his own Classic Music Company run alongside Derrick Carter. Here Luke returns to the Fullbarr label following his 'Ultrasound' EP last year.
Since its launch Fullbarr has continually seen support across the board from Mixmag, De:Bug, DJ Mag and many more with the labels DIY ethos, hand delivering stock to record stores, simplicity and organic promotion highlighting the attention to detail embodied in the company. The imprint closed last year with a retrospective compilation of remixes from the back catalogue and has picked up support from many reputable DJ's along the way, such as DJ Deep, Ethyl, San Proper, Christopher Rau and Jovonn.
Here the release opens with 'Crash Beat', featuring off-kilter drum programming, resonant, evolving synth lines and bubbling low-end tones. The track steadily evolves in a drum-driven fashion before the focal point sees the introduction of tweaky, acidic synth stabs, resulting in a flourishing dynamism for the rest of the cuts duration. Next up is 'Hoover Bag', employing a dark, twisted feel with an insistent kick pattern creating a bumpy energy. Broken-beat snares shuffle away in the background alongside blocky hi-hats and loose claps while drawn out delays and a heady synth line further fuels the profound depth of the record.
Following on the B-Side is 'Look Back', veering into house territory this time with shuffling 909 style drums, a simplistic, punchy bass-line and bright organ stabs. Luke creeps in murmuring vocal lines to hidden away in the background to add further texture while the hooky, progressive nature of the cut smoothly carries it along. To close the release Solomon turns in 'Pop Rocks', upping the tempo again slightly with a raw, rolling drum pattern and machine noise continually sweeping around, giving off a hypnotic feel. A cutting 303 line is soon worked in adding to the mesmeric vibe its the envelope is invariably altered and subtle automation.

Hypnolove - Ghost Carnival

Electro-pop mish mash, menagerie of French horn and ante-Raphaelish harps, counter-tenor male trio and female voices escaping from the room over there, at the end of the hallway. It's the carnival of the phantoms, a Day of the Dead in Mexico, with the Consul as an ill guide. At the helm, the Hypnolove trio, based in the south of France but with spread origins : French, Portuguese, German. Their first album Eurolove and the hit « Mademoiselle » was released... Already... Seven years ago. From that time Music remains a passion. Buddies getting together again. A group of true musicians, who perform for pleasure before everything. Like when they were teenagers, injected with electro-pop, New Order or Pet Shop Boys, or, years later, sharing obscure bands, strange and stranger cryptic producers, uncertain records... Seven years of reflexion... Sure-handed, the producer Mickey Moonlight, the English ambassador to Ed Banger records, conduces. It had to take a scatterbrain like him to set in order and channel the trio.

Nine titles in all and ninety-nine emotions on the clock. The magic happens, the dance of contradictions, a winter in the Sun. A pop odyssey, pop above all, melancholic and grinning.

The cover features an artwork by Yazbukey who created and wore a full size jewel for the occasion. Ready for the parade!

Ornette - Crazy, Noze, Lopazz, Phonique Rmxs

limited clear vinyl pressing

Nôze's elegant 'Body Language' mix featured some real gems from all the corners of the earth. One of those gems is their remix of Ornette's 'Crazy', a sensual, lively piece full of classical sounds and elegant vocal lines. These artists managed to capture the pure essence of the track in a bottle and pour it smoothly over the dance floor. If you could give it a texture, the Nôze extended remix has an almost creamy feel to it. Smooth, and driving, this is a solid track and you should be prepared to hear it complete some of the higher quality DJ sets and mixes around the world (as you might have already heard on Body Language Vol 11). Phonique is well known in Berlin for his residencies in Weekend and various remixes. His version of ‚crazy' pumps a deep disco vibe into the bassline and keeps the groove going. Pads rise and vocal lines open to bring crowd to their feet. When professional sound engineers produce a track you can hear the years of experience and love go into it. LOPAZZ takes a break from mastering and teams up with Casio Casino to give us the Roofmix, a mix of organic percussion and saucy groove. The ‚Call The Cops' Remix marks Nicks very first release, and on Get Physical nonetheless. The remix reflects a deeper side of the track. With pumping bass and a deep kick, Nick takes it down a bit into Dub territory. Perfect for Home listening, as well as any afterparty, the mix lures the audience into a dreamy state of mind and holds them with a groove that touches you deep inside. We've included the original for your pleasure as well. Take these tracks, and treasure them. Quality tracks like this don't come out every day.

Phil Kieran Feat. Bush Tetras - Snakes Crawl

This project started off as a bootleg (under the name Burglar Tom) released by Phil Kieran back in 2007. Back then he was just putting out a tune he really wanted out there, cutting through the red tape. But as occasionally happens this one was too good to have such a limited release. Picked up and played by many top djs, it eventually found it's way to the ears of Bush Tetras' vocalist Cynthia Sley, via the good people at Optimo in Glasgow. She loved it. They put her in touch with Phil, and the result is this official release.
There are four tracks here, all instant dancefloor favourites. From Phil we get that original bootleg track, the appropriately names PK east village mix, with its nod to the New York scene Bush Tetras were so influential in, this is the track that will find favour on the playlist of the discerning indie disco as well as the techno scene. There's a a new PK techno mix, and new mixes by two of the biggest names in techno: DJ Hell and Dave Clarke (here with Mr Jones under their 'Unsubscribe' alias). With the PK techno mix Phil takes the tune into familiar territory with the driving percussive techno he's so rightly lauded for.
DJ Hell, well versed in post punk having worked with the legendary electro pioneers Suicide, gives us a darker spacious electro rebuild of Phil's original track, complete with analogue sounds and some neat twists and drops along the way. The Unsubscribe mix fits it out for the big room, with the new synth riff and repetitive use of Cynthia's 'ding a ling' vocal taking us into 21st century rave territory.

What a package we have here!!
It doesnt get much stronger than this on the same EP... 5 killer remixes of some of Vince Watson's biggest tracks on his Bio label to date..
Serious heavyweight's are involved in this Repshape project, as well as the previously unreleased club remix of Aurelon by Steve Rachmad and Vince Watson.
On this first part, we have the 2 seminal reshapes of A Very Different World by FunkD'Void. Top of the playlists of Dj's from Sasha and Digweed to Derrick May and Josh Wink back in 2010, for the first time the track now find themselves on Vinyl as well as Digital. Both reshapes have something for everyone, with the Epic Reshape extending the mix to 10mins. A Very Different World was the track that relaunched Bio in 2010 and Funk D'Void still plays it in his sets and lists it as one of his all time greats....
So its with great pleasure that we finally bring these to record stores across the world for vinyl lovers :)
Overall, a very powerful EP with 2 amazing reshapes. The 2nd Reshapes vinyl pacakge includes remixes by Joris Voorn, Psycatron and Steve Rachmad and all are included in the Reshapes Digital Compilation (Bio 028) along with DJ Rolando's recent Sequential Reshape..

**** only on deejay.de as double 12" includes AREC001 Vinyl !! ****
Special LTD deejay.de release include AREC001
For their second launch a-records turns to Sandburgen aka Ralf Noetzel.
With Sandorama he delivers a varied 4-tracker which dances around minimal techno yet could find itself dropped all over.

A1 - Quartz: atmospheric minimal trance, clattering beats, insistent bass and a mesmeric synth harmony for early morning dancefloors.
A2 - Sandorama: the title track breaks in with a stumbling bassline which funks its way across stomping minimal beats and fluttering white noise percussion.
B1 - Sunshine: the non four to the floor track of the EP. Hypnotic staccato synths culminate in an atmospheric sound spectacle, soundtrack to gamma radiation.
B2 - Minced Meat: inspired by 80s synth-pop anthems and trance fundamentals. The track starts off with dry bass and drum sounds before being carried away by swelling synth arpeggios.

Sandorama continues the a-records saga with the same philosophy yet an alternative form. Where Sumad rocked with brilliant dryness, Sandburgen wallows in treacle-laced melodies without lapsing into mainstream

B1 - Sunshine: Der Non-4 to the floor Track der E.P: Hypnotische Staccato-Synths gipfeln in atmosphärischem Klang-Spektakel.

The beautiful track - Swan' pretty much describes perfectly what Monokle means when he says that - simple rhythms and catchy beats get him bored quickly'. Being influenced by the music of the British imprint Warp for example, the Sankt Petersburg based artist has pretty much developed his own interpretation of well, what should it be called It's Monokle! He has his very own aesthetic approach to music and has a very fine hand for sublime melodies and atmospheres. On the B Side he teams up with his friend and partner Milinal. - Swan' gets a proper retouch by Daisuke Tanabe, who shares Monokle's deep soundscapes and is just the right member of the Ki family to get his hands on this EP.

Maya Jane Cioles, Miss Kittin - Heidi Pres. Jackathon Jams 1

UK house-music institution Heidi expands on her exceptional repertoire with the first release on new project, Heidi Presents Jackathon Jams. Recruiting the feminine touches of Maya Jane Coles, Miss Kittin and tINI, this diverse release oozes with the sexiness that only a dream team like this could deliver. Since 2010, Maya Jane Coles has bust onto the scene seemingly from nowhere, dazzling the world with her DJ and production skills and establishing herself as a queen of nu-school house. 'Getting Freaky' is no exception; Maya proves herself once again, delivering deep beats and a trademark melodic groove, spread over innovative synth sounds and a sexy vocal. With roots deep in the underground 90's techno scene, audiences have felt Miss Kittin's musical impact for nearly 20 years and her classic touch is felt on 'Girlz' with heavy percussion and deep bass conquering the field. Jacking grooves and hi-techno synth lines recall feelings of 90's raves, whilst her own timeless vocals recall everything you know and love about Miss Kittin. tINI's remix of 'Girlz' cleverly smooths things out a bit whilst still retaining the energy of the original. With a stripped back, experimental, dub-techno vibe to it, this one sounds like its been sent from the underground of outer-space. Heidi calls on the services of three very talented ladies and as one would expect delivers the quality and diversity she has become renowned for over the years. We wait in anticipation for the next set of Jams ...
