To celebrate its twentieth anniversary the album has been meticulously remastered at Abbey Road for a deluxe reissue by Underworld's Rick Smith. Revisiting the original MIDI files, Rick uncovered a wealth of previously unreleased material and rare alternate mixes that sit alongside the record's original companion singles and remixes and offer a fascinating insight into the creation of the record. The resultant release is the definitive version of one of those rare records that truly deserves its iconic status. This 5-CD Super Deluxe Box Set contain the original remastered album, associated singles and remixes, previously unreleased bonus tracks and an entire 7-song live jam. 'Untitled' opens up, building behind a gently reverberated 4/4 kick and interchanging hat sequences. Hypnotic, off-kilter samples and subtle flecks of acid generate a brooding and purposeful tone as a sense pressure builds throughout.

'Tribalz' steadily grows with space echo tails drifting in amongst full and tenebrous pads. A brash and busy 2-step rhythm emerges as an overdriven kick sticks wood-blocks and cowbells to the floor. In a manner akin to the likes of Joe and Blawan, rattling rhythms are mapped across all corners of the mix with imperious accuracy.

In 2011 it got a little quiet around the co-productions of Fraenzen Texas and Ruede Hagelstein aka The Cheapers. But since the beginning of the new year the lights don`t go out in their studio doing beats and sound. Next to Releases on Areal Records and Bar25 the UY063 was born. Title of the name giving A-side goes back on a quote from Paris Hilton who wants to tell with 'Amazeballs' how super cool she finds things. Anyway the two artists made it real with their concise bassline which will make the people reliably squeak more than hobby DJane Hilton. On the B-side things turn a bit more severe: 'Egyptian Summer' quotes with samples the Arabic spring in Africa and produces a revolutionary ground mood which has never been heard before. On B2 however there are the cheaperesque absurdities on the microfon like we know them... depositing skillfully their own vocals in the belly of a hungry electro monster.

From their 2010 s/t debut album ("hauntingly beautiful" - Resident Advisor) and 2011 follow up 'Parquet' ("hypnotic, near kosmische reverberations" - Clash) Elektro Guzzi have taken their man-machine live show of bass, guitar, drums around the world, from landmark clubs like Fabric and Berghain to major festivals Roskilde, Sónar and Mutek.
With 'Observatory', Bernhard Hammer, Jakob Schneidewind and Bernhard Breuer shift everything anyone could expect from a live band. Tellingly, instrument credits have been wiped off the record sleeve. Still a string and a drum skin at the source, the sound emanating from the speakers seems to have travelled light years. Utterly alien, 'Observatory' unfolds into a paradigm for both the performance of music and the music performed.
Despite advances in software, ironically it is this live band that initiates a redesign of how techno could leap into the future. There is nothing retro about it. No citations of historic moments. The album resembles a party on the edge of the solar system, with scraps of distant sound memories - a shocking abandonment of anything an instrument was supposed to do. The recordings' warmth is at a stark contrast to the music's Skynet thrust: a time capsule of techno projected into the dark unknown. Metallic and human at the same time, a love cry miles from home...

2011 ended on a high for Jonny White & Nitin's No.19 Music label with Maceo Plex dropping 'Under the Sheets', for many, one of the biggest records of the year. 2012 has already begun in style with the awesome 'So Good EP' from rising star Louie Fresco and now No.19 looks to continue its unbrokenrun of quality music with this; the latest single from Barcelona based Mexican DJ/Producer Miguel Puente.

Puente has been at the heart of Barcelona's thriving scene since relocating there from his hometown of Monterrey, Mexico. He has established himself not only as a sought after DJ and producer but also as a promoter, putting on some of the cities hottest parties with guest such as Soul Clap, Art Department, Lee Foss etc. It should be no surprise then that his talents came to the attention of fellow Barcelona resident and No19 head honcho Johnny White who snapped him up to record for what has become one of the most talked about labels around. Miguel's single kicks off with title track 'What You Do', an incredible update on the classic sound of early house, with 808 drum patterns, bubbling bass, old school synths and seductive vocals fused into an infectious piece of house music, sublime!

Next up we have the excellent 'Save Each Other' with its dark edged, future retro synth work, haunting riffs and speaker shaking bassline playing off the classic vocals perfectly. The package is completed with a third vocal cut in the shape of the electro influenced 'It's Been So Long' which has a deeper, cinematic inspired feel whilst still retaining a strong dancefloor sensibility, definitely one for the early hours! 'What You Do' is another superb release from a label that is unstoppable at the moment and an artist who looks set for big things, enjoy.

Strut presents Hardcore Traxx: Dance Mania Records 1986-1997, the first definitive retrospective of one of Chicago's most important and innovative house music labels. Emerging as a raw alternative to the powerhouses of Trax and DJ International during the mid-'80s, Dance Mania continued to represent street-level Chicago club music into the '90s, helping to pioneer the Ghetto House sound.

Hardcore Traxx traces the full story of the label from its heyday. Founded in 1985 and managed by Ray Barney, Dance Mania hit the ground running with its second release in '86, the incendiaryHardcore Jazz EP by Duane & Co. Barney quickly became a trustworthy outlet for early house and acid productions by upcoming Chicago artists such as Lil Louis, Marshall Jefferson and Farley Keithaka Farkey 'Jackmaster' Funk.

The label set out its stall with a series of landmark Chicago releases including 7 Ways by Hercules, Li'l Louis' The Original Video Clash, and international smash House Nation by Housemaster Boyz. During the '80s, it cemented its reputation for uncompromising club records and DJ Tools with sounds spanning raw garage (Victor Romeo's Love Will Find A Way), acid trax (Robert Armani) and quality house (Da Posse).

Into the '90s, Barney unleashed the groundbreaking "Hit It From The Back" by Traxmen and Eric Martin, ushering in a primitive new sound around faster, stripped down rhythms and X-rated party-starting lyric lines. Barney remembers, 'Guys used to call in and ask for music on Dance Mania - they were saying, 'gimme some of that ghetto stuff.' Dance Mania producer DJ Slugo adds, 'when we made Ghetto House... we made music for the bitches. Music for the grinding sh*t and all of that.' The sound spawned a whole new swathe of homegrown producers releasing a fast flow of no-compromise dancefloor bangers: Paul Johnson, DJ Deeon, DJ Funk, DJ Milton, Waxmaster and Slugo all became leaders of the scene. The influence of ghetto house became widespread, not least for Daft Punk, whose track "Teachers" from their Homework album in 1997 was effectively a tribute to Dance Mania. The new wave of productions also paved the way for the later Chicago juke and footwork scene.

Today, with the label back up and running courtesy of Ray Barney and Parris Mitchell, Dance Mania remains a revered Chicago institution across dance music. With Hardcore Traxx, Strut traces the history of the label on a definitive compilation for the first time, from the early classics to ghetto house anthems alongside big money rarities and oddities hidden within their substantial catalogue. Produced in association with Dance Mania, the release is compiled by Conor Keeling (DJ behind the popular "Teachers" Daft Punk influences online mix) with help from Miles Simpson of Ransom Note. Physical formats feature full label history and artist interviews by DJ Chrissy Murderbot alongside rare photos.

The MIKE series returns as a split 12" this go round, featuring Mike Simonetti (Italians Do It Better) and Chris Burns. The two have been collaborating and producing music under the ingenious name "M+C" for a few years now, and Chris also worked as engineer on Mike's debut record "Capricorn Rising" last year. We are hoping to see some sort of M+C release out soon on Italians Do It Better, but in the meantime this will have to suffice. Rundum ein außergewöhnliches und doch sehr grandioses Release, welches nicht nur auf der Tanzfläche funktioniert und dass den Sommer 2011 sicherlich "Zechen" lässt.

New release from kitchenstudio3 On "Analog Sphere Ep", the misterious Program Raphel and Pezzo come up with three fresh releases who show their love for unexpected soundscapes and musical emotions.

With "Smile revox" , Program Raphael seems to use the same recipe used in
the mythical production of old Kitchenstudio3's friends , Poker ( Eukahouse
rec.) and Borgomanero ( marshmellow rec) during the last decade. Big bad
bassline, vocals that comes from a lo-fi cassette and a "move your ass"
style drumkit. Old style synths that provide a crescendo feeling directly
for the dancefloor. Play it on your old boombox!Pezzo's 'Analog whisper' is
upbeat and housey, with a screwing bass melody and distorted voices directly
from the streets. Hipnotic keyboards mixed with a hipster drumkit that seem
to come directly from a stoned sunrise in a riviera's beach.
Segment Snap's track from Pezzo lives around a heavy kick and a sinth
breakbeat ska structure. Dreamy voices bring to an altered state of mind .
Use it to fit yourself with a skinny swimsuit or a skimpy bikini.

Angefangen hat alles mit einem Riesenhit: die Debütsingle "Straight Ahead" featuring CHRISSIE HYNDE von THE PRETENDERS kletterte bis auf Platz 1 der US Amerikanischen Billboard Dance Radio Charts und es folgten Booking und Remix Anfragen aus aller Welt. Um sich nach dem überwältigenden Starterfolg keiner Major Label-Diktatur unterwerfen zu müssen, gründeten Tube & Berger schon bald ihr eigenes Label Kittball Records.
