No introduction is really needed for the massive Balearic anthem 'Jibaro'. Elkin & Nelson's scorching Latin disco classic hit big throughout Spain, South America and NYC's underground club scene in 1979 when this now rare and hard-to-find disco 12' version originally dropped, but it gained its real cult status after being picked up and championed up by the likes of Rampling, Oakenfold et al who who fell in love it after hearing it played by the legendary DJ Afredo at Ibiza's Amnesia club. Instantly recognisable and supremely dancable, this is one of the true heavyweights of the Balearic scene - and a must have for any serious record collection.

SPIELGOLD welcomes Alexander Richter with his new deep release "Faces". This EP features two laid-back deep house tracks for the prime time that shouldn't be missing in your record case. Small Pyramids is LA's Zach Hunsaker. Heavily influenced by nu-disco, early house music and edit culture, Zach began cutting up old disco, funk and r&b tracks for his DJ gigs in Los Angeles as Small Pyramids. Making the move from producing edits to sampling for original tracks was a natural progression and crucial step to developing a unique style. As a result of remixing acts like NightWaves and Arohan, Small Pyramids gained blog exposure on sites like Disco Workout, Tracasseur, In the Deep End and Disco Delicious. The first Small Pyramids EP, 'Another Way to Feel' was released late in 2010 to great critical acclaim and shortly thereafter Zach signed to Glasgow Underground.

His first single, the foot-stomping disco of 'I Want Blood' came out on a limited 12' in November 2011 and made it straight into DJ Magazine's Tunes of the Year. Zach followed that up with a contribution to GU's 'Spring/Summer Collection 2012. 'The Music' is a slice of prime time hands-in-the-air goodness complete with elated vocals and butt-wiggling bass. Diverse DJs began picking up on Zach's sound with Rub'n'Tug, Laurent Garnier, Grum, PBR Streetgang and Harri from the Sub Club all play-listing his tracks.

As well as his original material Zach remixed Mary Epworth, Sam Sparro and local hero Goldroom and found blogs like Golden Scissors and La.Ga.Sta full of love for his sun-kissed sounds.

2013 saw Zach featuring on GU's 'Summer of Love' compilation. 'Don't Do It To Me' is his city's take on the garage revival. Out went the M1 organ sound of Ejeca et al and in came touches of Todd Edwards and MJ Cole all wrapped up in a blissed-out Small Pyramids groove. Meggy loved it, Gilles Peterson described it as 'killer' and Agoria said it was simply 'a bomb'.

The album 'Slow It Down' takes in these three and adds 7 more slow burning, unforgettable jams. There's the title track with its looping, lazy vocals and glittering synths, the joyous heavy thump of 'Look No Further', the raw cut-up funk of 'Lil' Bit' and the hypnotic piano love song 'I'm Gonna Beg You'. And that's before Zach takes you to the heart of his dance-floor with the three singles.

Add to that the mid-tempo R'n'B pilfering of 'Make It Smoother' and two near-perfect chill-out tracks 'Stranded' & 'Warmer' and you have the kind of album that sounds as good in the sunrise café's of Ibiza as it does in the basement clubs of London's East End and the pool-side parties of Zach's own LA.

Crosstown continue their run of killer singles in 2013 with the Russ Yallop's eagerly anticipated single 'The Journey'. Russ has been steadily honing his craft since his first killer release on Crosstown Rebels in 2010 'I Can't Wait'. Back on home label turf, the London-based producer is about to unleash 'The Journey feat. Aimee Sophia' including a pair of storming remixes by man of the moment Huxley.

A warped ride for the senses, 'The Journey' is a wave of filthy house, eerie chords, heavy sub bass and those hauntingly falsetto vocals. The overall effect is darkly addictive and B-side 'How I Feel' feat. Belle retains the same spacious bass heavy mood with more bounce in the bass-line. A world class and in-demand DJ, Russ Yallop is recently back from the 10 years of Crosstown Rebels Rebel Rave tour that took in the most vibrant destinations of the world.A solid line in dance-floor hits on labels Hot Creations/Hot Waves, Rebellion, no.19 and Losing Suki, Russ Yallop has also released music under the alias B&B on Foot and Mouth.

Huxley aka Michael Dodman is the unstoppable producer with the garage roots and immaculate track record on labels such as Hypercolour and Tsuba. His debut on Crosstown - two takes on 'The Journey' are both more vigorous club work-outs. The Vocal Mix has added bleeps and a more pumping garage groove while the Dub is the beast with the techier edge.

HVNXX is one of the most special projects we've taken part in as a label. Some months ago The XX and Young Turks asked our artists to remix tracks from 'Coexist'. It was a big honour and also a big responsi- bility, specially considering that The XX is one of our favourite bands. The outcome of such challenge is a four-track EP that showcases the sound of both well-established members of the Hivern family, such as Marc Piñol and New Jackson, and upcoming talents such as Round and Mistakes Are Ok.
All four remixes are pretty different among them, but they all manage to maintain the distinctive spirit of the original songs in their own way. Marc Piñol takes 'Fiction' to the good ol' days of Chicago house, laying the original vocals on top of analog drum-machines and a rubbery bassline to that suggest an imaginary collaboration between Adonis and Oliver Sim. The elusive Mistakes Are Ok maintains the tropical vibe of 'Reunion' but provides a warped atmosphere combining breezy chimes with static haze and a propulsive bass that boosts the song towards the second part of the remix. Hivern's latest signee Round transforms the fragility of 'Missing' into a soothing house cut through uplifting organ chords and vigorous rhythms fulfilling dancefloor demands without loosing it's melancholic character. Finally, New Jackson proves once again his knack with nocturnal ambiences flipping 'Swept Away' into a sensuous deep-house gem guided by an absorbing piano and a slow but steady groove.
The release comes in an embossed sleeve with artwork designed by Arnau Pi. HVNXX is a co-release with Young Turks.
