3 brand new vital club tracks from L-Vis 1990!
In the 18 months after releasing his debut album "Neon Dreams" the NS label co-curator, DJ and maverick producer L-Vis 1990 has been firmly refocussed on club music. 2011's "Club Constructions Volume 1" on NS, and more recently his contribution to Clone's Jack For Daze series saw him explore sweat-drenched, jackin analog techno and classic hard-house flipped with a uniquely UK perspective. While the aim of these releases was explicitly to create functional club 'trax' that felt sweltering in the dance, in contrast "Ballads" is L-Vis' first true artist statement since "Neon Dreams" - a set of bizarre, show-stopping pieces designed to spiritually open up the club.
With every release the Night Slugs landscape becomes more vivid, rezzing further into existence with each track. 2011 saw "Classical Curves" and "Club Rez EP" inject a previously wireframe environment with dense new texture. The "Ballads" EP continued that process, transposing the listener to the flooded underwater realm of its title track "Ballad 4d". Fans of the track's YouTube rip have dubbed it the 'submarine tune' for its obscene, living bass, like some mechanical whale cry. It's the sound of a '00's Sublow bass tone emerging from warm '80s analog oscillators, letting you up for air before sucking you down once again as drum fragments and debris float by through the murk. The track moves with a vast, sighing implication of a groove until suddenly propelling into decisive 4x4 as L-Vis lets the the drums take control again.
"Not Mad" is demented, a guitar-pedal troika powered by an overdriven electric bass and Jersey kicks. It features a clapper with the giggles, a talking flanger and sawtooth stabs that beam across the track like strobes, all combining into another startling, endothermic groove.
Like some of the best grime productions it echoes, "Signal" is an exercise in dancefloor shock and awe through reductionism, and is the surprise club bomb of the EP. Out of nothing but droning chords comes a massive arpeggio of Juno bass pulses framed only in silhouette by sonar bleeps, finger snaps and self-recycling industrial machinery. A loose ghostly beat start-stops to create vast chasms on the dancefloor until reinforcement from a stiff EBM snare flips the track into rigid functionality - like exploring a flooded world that is suddenly, briefly reanimated.

Led by Andy Meecham, the brains behind The Emperor Machine, Bizarre Inc and
Chicken Lips amongst many others, and captures the excitement, diversity,
strangeness and harmony of the UK underground sound of the early 90s. We
are talking about the sparse dub mix on side 2 of the 12" single, machines
making mistakes and changing the course of history, the dark side of the
rave away from the neon and the white gloves, Future Four points the way to
the dimly lit corner of the dancefloor and makes you move.

After a recent discovery of boxes of old S950 and MPC60 floppy discs full of
sound sets dating back to the early 90s, all three tracks have been produced
solely on the MPC 3000 in Staffordshire, and in perfect unison of North and
South, mixed by Erol Alkan in London.

You'll Be Safe Forever marks the first release from Locust in 12 years. Mark Van Hoen, who made a string of influential releases as Locust on R&S records in the 1990's, all but retired the alias at the end of that decade. In May 2012, Van Hoen was invited to perform a live set on WFMU radio. In order to make the set more spontanious and add a further dimension, he asked friend and fellow musician Louis Sherman to collaborate. While improvising new material in Sherman's Brooklyn rehearsal studio, It swiftly became obvious that the material sounded like Locust. Inspired by joint explorations with found sound sources and ambient textures, and sharing a pan-dimensional immersion in the length and breadth of analogue and digital recording, the duo performed a series of tracks live.

A certified veteran in the game, with a sizeable back catalog that spans releases for seminal labels such as 2000Black, Delsin, Rush Hour, and Archive, not to mention some groundbreaking efforts on 4hero's trailblazing Reinforced label where it all began for the producer under the moniker Alpha Omega.
Following an indefinite hiatus from the industry , Nubian Mindz is back with a vengeance with the striking results of 'TV Watches You' EP that further cements his legendary status as one of the most forward thinking craftsmen of next level electronic music, whose innovative vision and genre defying approach towards production goes hand in hand with the diverse cross-genre agenda of Phuture Shock. Lead track 'Dutty Beach' hits hard from the outset, a broken ragga-tech romp made up of raw neck snapping snares, juggernaut kicks and uncompromising thuggish bass, all fittingly set to a post-apocalyptic backdrop. The para-technoid stomp of 'TV Watches You' follows, where a menacing bassline grinds its way through the dystopian chaos of swirly sci-fi synths and manic delayed snares. While the standalone B-side 'Many Poly' sees the bass advocator momentarily channel into his early game-changing D&B roots to cook up a futuristic proto-junglist style roller like nothing ever heard before.

LEXICON REVENUE TWEAK THIS CLASSIC INTO A BASS ROARING 2009 REMIX!!!

Looking to follow in the universally fawned-over footsteps of James Blake, Mount Kimbie and Darkstar, Vondelpark unveil their debut album of lovelorn electronic pop for R&S. Unlike the aforementioned though, Lewis Rainsbury's trio barely even pay lip service to dubstep and dance music tropes: their music is old-fashioned bedsit indie with a crisp 2013 digital veneer and the occasional bold production flourish. Sometimes it really works: the jangly guitar-driven 'Quest' sounds like Aztec Camera slowed to stoner pace, but still bright and buoyant, and the minimalist future-soul sound design of 'Come On' is nothing if not seductive. In the end it kind of falls between two stools - not quite as populist and accessible as, say, Everything Everything, but not as refined or experimental as a Blake or a Kimbie. Still, they have a way with a tune and a good ear for ambience, and you can imagine this very accomplished album embedding itself in a lot of star-crossed young lovers' playlists between now and the end of summer

Nôze's elegant 'Body Language' mix featured some real gems from all the corners of the earth. One of those gems is their remix of Ornette's 'Crazy', a sensual, lively piece full of classical sounds and elegant vocal lines. These artists managed to capture the pure essence of the track in a bottle and pour it smoothly over the dance floor. If you could give it a texture, the Nôze extended remix has an almost creamy feel to it. Smooth, and driving, this is a solid track and you should be prepared to hear it complete some of the higher quality DJ sets and mixes around the world (as you might have already heard on Body Language Vol 11). Phonique is well known in Berlin for his residencies in Weekend and various remixes. His version of ‚crazy' pumps a deep disco vibe into the bassline and keeps the groove going. Pads rise and vocal lines open to bring crowd to their feet. When professional sound engineers produce a track you can hear the years of experience and love go into it. LOPAZZ takes a break from mastering and teams up with Casio Casino to give us the Roofmix, a mix of organic percussion and saucy groove. The ‚Call The Cops' Remix marks Nicks very first release, and on Get Physical nonetheless. The remix reflects a deeper side of the track. With pumping bass and a deep kick, Nick takes it down a bit into Dub territory. Perfect for Home listening, as well as any afterparty, the mix lures the audience into a dreamy state of mind and holds them with a groove that touches you deep inside. We've included the original for your pleasure as well. Take these tracks, and treasure them. Quality tracks like this don't come out every day.

Born with a natural love for music, he started his career when
13 years old hosting a music show at an Italian local radio station.
He presented his playlists in the most famous italian clubs. At
Eighteen he began working as a technician and a DJ for RTL
1
mixing studio and started the " R-Type " music project. The first
single "18Teen", produced by Dirty House Music, is a success
straight away: it was played by Ministry of Sound Radio, it kept
the top ten on Beatport for months, first position on
Trackitdown and Maurice Noah's remix was the choice as the
opening track on the famous Dj Marcel Woods' compilation.
The follow up "My Favourite Thing" kept the momentum posi-
tioning first on Trackitdown for months, 37th on Beatport and
inside the top 50 on Juno. The remix of the single "Another
Day" by Maurice Noah is produced by Re-Vox with great suc-
cess. With the money gained from sales and mixing in clubs he
bought more evolved synths for his studio (Moog Voyager,
Nord Lead 3, Arturia Origin, Access Virus TI,   Sid Station,
Roland TB303, Korg MS20, Korg Radias, Waldorf Blofeld,
etc.). The Yoky project has come alive. The first single "He's A
Boy" gained great success. It hits the Beatport top ten in the
Electro House hitlist and it has been played all around the
world from Tokyo to L.A. The new album "Electro In My House"
is produced in collaboration with musicians and the singer
Muna . The tracks were appreciated by Irma Records which
decided to publish the whole album . It's the beginning of new
collaborations with producer Ohm Guru and famous italian
DJs.

Deep, deep inside the Hard Drive otherwise known as the non-local universe Light Sounds Dark are in 'thinker' mode trying to make sense of it all.

This time around the Intergalactic Communication Network are on hand; made up of people who don't know each other and don't know there in it; a sort of cosmic sloop for liking minds. Comprising this group are men of liberal science Rick Strassman M.D and Slawek Wojtowicz M.D, music makers from beyond the quantum holograph Mutant Beat Dance (E.P. out on L.S.D. in April) and spiritual godfather DJ Beppe Loda from the time when records began.

Dark Matters Too 'Tales of Enlightenment' is a celebration and homage to these individuals and all the people who choose to go against the wheel.. 'Why is it so important for human beings to see apparent order in everything around them' Rudolf Arnheim 1971.

So after all that what we actually have here is another high class offering of rare vinyl and a few cassette gems too good not to get a fair hearing. Dementia Precox kick things off with some serious shamanic tribal rhythms designed to induce a state of mind for a journey through to the underworld. Popsong's Factory ultra-rare Japanese vocoder jam slows the tempo down as do some old friends from 'D.E.T.' the wonderful Onyx 'S.O.S.' with its layered synths and mega fazing.

CHBB who later went on to become Liaisons Dangereuses are here with the classic cassette only 'Go Go Go!' which is well known by fans. Matched by the equally impressive Hypnobeats 'Giving Head to Kilian' a much rarer affair described as 'neo-tribalism', this is early minimal techno made in 1984 and really has to be heard to be believed. Light Sounds Dark continue to put music out refusing to be holed by the pigeons and there is even a possibility of a website this year... A tale of enlightenment indeed!!

From fashion shows to underground dance clubs of all types, Zebra Katz' and Njena Reddd Foxxx's "Ima Read" was nothing short of an anthem in 2012, so it's only fitting that it now has a limited vinyl press! Deluxe 10" vinyl pressing here with the original, the instrumental and the in-demand acappella on the a-side and a beautiful etching of the cover illustration on the b-side. It comes housed in a clear vinyl sleeve for showcasing the etching.
"Ima Read" got started with a release through our Mad Decent sublabel Jeffree's, and quickly spread with a mesmerizingly dark video that only increased the menacing tension of the track. The fashion world was the first to jump on board with Rick Owens playing "Ima Read" throughout his Paris Fashion Week show (much to the delight of some and the shock of others). Zebra Katz has since gone on an award tour of fashion houses, opened on tour for acts like Lana Del Rey and Azealia Banks and basically appearing in every fashion related magazine on the planet. This 10" cements "Ima Read" and Zebra Katz as a certifiable icon.

Welcome to the latest, fun-filled slice of velvet boogie from Wolverhampton duo Letherette. This fourth EP (heralding the debut album, scheduled for Spring) sees their sun bleached groove truly come into its own. D&T is as exuberant as it is stylish, infectious synth stabs and cut up vocals giving way to full blown guitar shredding, all the better for its sheer daring.
