Wrong is Quentin Dupieux's new movie, the director most known under his musical alias, Mr Oizo. During summer 2011, while he was wrapping the movie, he started as usual to compose its score. He then had the idea to fulfill it with four hands, with David Sztanke aka Tahiti Boy, a French eclectic pop artist recently met on Twitter. Indeed, Mr Oizo, in a typical extravagant generous gesture, offered through the social network three mythic beat machines, including a TR-808 for which Tahiti Boy (among others) showed great interest. Tahiti Boy seemed to be the most suitable to use it with relevance, and the two artists became friends on this occasion. Mr Oizo then had the idea to entrust Tahiti with the completion of Wrong's score. Settled in Quentin's parisian apartment turned into a studio, David resumed the few compositions already directed by Quentin, and finished and completed them with others (on which he sometimes used the famous TR-808).Supervised by Dupieux, who approved or disapproved the proposition in a clear-cut manner, the work progressed fast and fluently.Then, by the end of the year, the two artists reunited to adapt and shape the compositions in an album format, that you now have in your hands.After 'Steak' and 'Rubber", this is the third score from a Quentin Dupieux movie to be released on Ed Banger, and we found the particular atmosphere the first one already had ; in the same time modernist, iconoclast and crossed by winks to the big tradition of Original Soundtracks made in France in the 60s and 70s. smog, quite different from the state of play of todays output. Clearly the Gent got properly lost with his sonics, tackling static and
whispy fuzz adjusted onto lurking discordant notes.
Slipping into the Archaetech realm we get initiated with smoldering industrious sub intertwined in distorted lowend throb. Derelict
happenings get submerged into solitary confinement picking at an unbalanced mental state. Five minutes in you realise this is going
to get well grim.
Lo Fi specifics rub shoulders with intermittent dub influences chatting about, and talking amongst themselves. With a thick cerebral
tone these nuisance loops freak havoc discombobulating with scantily clad reverb. Anyone would think this hombre got a tape delay
for Christmas.
Rhythms within rhythms get caught in the crossfire, misjudged paths and long scathing rasps plug away delving further to a core of
oddness. Well its safe to say its a thorough glare of warped mind boggling fare, clearly not for everyone but isn't that the point

Giving a fresh and girly feel to the original track, he delightfully transformed it into a groovy pop ballad.

After Panthera Krause spent the last years smoking at the window or travelling through your speakers with Marbert Rocel and Karocel, he now releases his solo debut Yorikke on Riotvan. From the depths of electronic obscurity we welcome this anonymous release from 'CHASING VOICES'. What this record lacks in information it makes up for in relentless, totally uncompromising electronic might, a morbid excursion on the outer limits of repetitive funk and mental sanity. Declaring war on the formulaic banalities of dubstep and stripping away its superfluities, cheap tricks and vapid gimmicks, slowing it down and forcing it into its own self-contemplation, 'Acidbathory' reinterprets the breakbeat in the context of our present day wasteland and executes this vision with disturbing exactitude. Grotesque low-end acidic excretions slope up and down a summit of flawless arrangement, mutating to form a breathing organism of the darkest musical beauty. If the direct and pure expressiveness of punk rock is ever to encroach on the encapsulated world of electronic music, this is a good start.

After the success of last year's long player, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, El_Txef_A and Fiakun join forces once again to release a set of remixes taken from the album. The remix package will be released digitally and on a special 10 limited edition vinyl, featuring two remixes from the brains behind Permanent Vacation as well as Danish producer Kasper Bjørke. The digital release will feature two extra tracks including a deep disco remix of 'Feeling Idiot,' from Austin-based Andres Aguirre as well as the more melancholic re-interpretation of 'A Place To Fall Apart' by Berliner Peter Armster. This pack will be released ahead of the second studio album from El_Txef_A, scheduled for release sometime mid 2013.

Medical Records presents the groundbreaking electronic classic "Explorer" and its sister LP "Yellow Power" by Tony Carey. (a keyboard whiz from California) In the mid-late 1970's, he moved Germany and began working in Peter Hauke's studio. Here a reissue of the highly-sought after "Explorer" LP along with "Yellow Power" as a 2LP package. Rumor has it that "Explorer" was intended to be demos for the "Yellow Power". Eventually both of these brilliant LPs were released on X Records in 1982. "Explorer" is the more stripped down almost proto-techno meets synthed out Italo disco while "Yellow Power" has a more polished, well-rounded and produced sound with a different array of instrumentation and alteration in mood. The tracks on "Yellow Power" seem to convey a futuristic sci-fi Japanese motif which possibly explains the beautiful airbrushed samurai warrior on the original cover. Some tracks have sparse vocal samples such as on the lovely "Peking Duck" and "Queen of Scots". Comes 160 gram vinyl (LP1 is green and LP2 is baby blue) in limited edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies. Great package!!

Fucking Liar', Boysnoize Records proudly presents Spank Rock's latest single called "Nasty" featuring the
undisputed "Queen Diva" of Bounce Music - Big Freedia and hooked up by the lady herself Tyette.

The new EP features the intoxicatingly beautiful album opener "The Birds" in its original version and in two remixes that could hardly be more contrasting: BPC label boss Ellen Allien spontaneously blows away the sombre fog clouds of the original with a crisp house beat and vibrant acid sequences. Ghostly International co-founder and self-confessed Brian Eno fan Matthew Dear has already revealed his distinct fondness for sinister soundscapes on his own album Black City and his remixes for The Chemical Brothers, The XX and The Drums.

After a storming end to 2012 with the Slow It Down & Elijah Collins release in November swiftly followed by Elias Tzikas in December, Retrospective is back with a monster of a release. We are proud to kick off 2013 with none other than Italy's finest; Ajello!
Eclecticism is definately the keyword word of the Ajello project comprising of Luca (DJ Rocca) Roccatagliati and Fabrizio Taver Tavernelli. The Ajello sound features a number of influences all of which can be heard in the tracks on this, their first E.P. on Retrospective; electro, new-wave, italo-disco, disco, neurofunk, eurodance, space sounds, early house. Over the years their music has received worldwide support from a host of international artists including Laurent Garnier, Erol Alkan, Dimitri From Paris, Andrew Weatherall, and Nick Fanciulli amongst others.

As this is the first E.P. of 2 from Ajello we decided to pull out all the stops on the remixes for this project. First up is Sean Johnson aka Hardway Bros, undoubtedly one of Future Disco's pioneers with a heritage to match who delivers a truly unique rework of Kalimba Tune taking us on a trip back to the warehouse sounds of the 80's. The second mix of Kalimba Tune is delivered by Chris Massey best known for his mixes of 2 Bear's - Bear Hug, Diplo & Sleazy Mcqueen who delivers a pure Nu Disco groover. In addition, for the digital release Verdo of Danny Was a Drag King fame brings his signature hypno-beat flavor to the fold alongside label owners Ruben & Ra who deliver a taste of Cosmic Jam to Saturday Morning. Quite a package I'm sure you will agree! Keep your eyes peeled for releases by Heion, Rayko, Fingerman, Ruben & Ra plus some other special surprises in 2013.

The music of Archie Pelago (the trio of Hirshi, Kroba and Cosmo D) suggests many reference points that are beyond the usual boyed-up remit, straying into musical territory inhabited by seriously gifted live instrumentalists. This, however, would be of no particular note to us if it wasn't channeled through a love for a contemporary bass-driven electronic music.
The trio hail from Brooklyn, NYC and bring a strong heritage of their hometown to their music, referencing the deep jazz of classic recordings by John Coltrane, abstract dance forms of Arthur Russell and the unfettered experimentation of Moondog. This is accompanied by a deep appreciation of the evolution of the UK's dubstep sound. Archie Pelago know all the classic early material and have honed in on the best creative potential that sound had to offer. They accomplish this synthesis as both a live and production unit.
Meticulous, adventurous arrangement concepts flow and challenge the listener equally, meeting a healthy degree of on-the-fly processing and live improvisation that might threaten to undermine the balance if it weren't so damn NATURAL.
'Subway Gothic' became a fast favourite with us. The opening piano chords drip with pretty melancholy while the rhythm and bass propel the track forward. The vulnerable vocals, string sweeps and soulful sax enhance the mood to the point of exquisite joy. Soon after, the composition drops way down to rise and surprise again in a mid-section constructed from shadows, jolts, scrapes and odd shapes. The sudden re-appearance of our heroic piano heralds a resolution.
Based on a repeated rhodes-loop, 'Ladymarkers' features some frankly delightful fingered-bass, flute, sax and cello over a beat that has an Afrobeat undercurrent. These instruments are treated to sublime fx and processing, adding psychedelic swells. A key change half-way through pivots the mood towards inquiry, self-examining the song's melodic and modal possibilities.
We don't feel we need say more... other than those in a position to recognize WILL RECOGNIZE. Archie Pelago are on the next level.

Psychemagik's 'Lunar Escape EP' is their first original studio EP, 3
diversely eclectic tracks, no samples, no edits, all tracks written and
produced by the duo and has been released to coincide with their February
2013 USA Tour.
The opening track ,'Where Are We', is a full frontal cosmic odyssey, with
chainsaw arpeggios, delirious disco basslines, with beats that would crash
meteors, bugged out vocoders and synth lines that mesmerise, this epic cut
takes you truly into galactic bliss. Of the next track, 'Bass Purr',
Psychemagik have said 'we had fun mixing up genres and exploring a more
experimental route. This nasty bass line found a life of it own and took
us into territories unknown', enjoy the ride!
The climax of a lunar escape is when you break through the clouds on your
ascent to a new atmosphere. On 'Above The Clouds', the EP's final track,
Psychemagik employed a 17 piece orchestra in Air Studios to help them get
their point across, working with the talented string arranger Richard
Chester.

Rhythm is a Dancer by SNAP - one of the tophits from 1992 is dancing into the year 2010. Ministry of Sound brings this classic back to the present with new and fresh sounds. The remixes of Armand Van Helden and Jens Kindervater are a must on all dance floors this year. Remember to the nineties with the sound of tomorrow.
