Infrasonics presents the second part in Spatial's three-part series Emergence, encompassing music and digital art. Early support has come from Machinedrum, A Made Up Sound, Mosca, Mumdance, Ekoplekz, Hodge, Ben UFO, and Beneath among other DJs. Focusing on the progression of intensive rhythmic phrases arranged in multiple layers, these rhythms seek an active neurophysical response by experimental means, as opposed to familiar patterns derived from genre. Both pieces are emphasised and systematically developed in the bass, to outline a narrative assimilable in terms of basic neurophysical functioning preceding musical understanding. In terms of generalised meaning, Reanimator' is primarily characterised by an alertness to the emergence of new possibilities, as well as suggesting a desire for experimentation in fields with ambiguous potential. Tensegrity' is characterised by a mood of tension in response to a large but otherwise unknown event rapidly approaching. It is further characterised by the difficulty involved in strategizing in the face of uncertain conditions. Coexistent with its application inside the framework of club-DJ-audience, the work is presented within a multidisciplinary approach. On the 12' vinyl a URL is printed as the only information. This leads to track information alongside an evolving visual work hosted on the web. These visuals are generated by a genetic algorithm, a mathematical expression of the understanding of genetics and evolution implicit in modern biology. It's pressed on heavyweight 180g silver vinyl and housed in a printed transparent sleeve. Emergence part 3 is forthcoming later this year.

Separate Planes marks the release of dark, seductive beats from VVV, alias of Austin, TX-based electronic producer Shawhin Izaddoost. Previously showcasing his intricate, nocturnal, immersive style on labels such as Fortifed Audio, Tube 10, and Sound of the Cosmos, VVV's first release for Seattle-based label Hush Hush is a masterful display of emotional tone and heavy textures. Separate Planes' 6-handpicked tracks blur flickering ghostly vocal samples and low-slung, slow-motion, bass-heavy beats within a warm, enveloping haze of atmospheric layers, resulting in an intoxicating and ideal late-night soundtrack.

After a debut 12" on Vanity Press in 2017 and a successful followup on Portage Garage Sounds, Black Noi$e returns for his first solo full length, 'Illusions' spanning 10 tracks, 48 minutes, over 2 discs, with a beautiful full sleeve by Bernard Veyu with a matte finish. Coming into his own, Detroit's Black Noi$e delivers a complete work, traversing styles and sounds from the past while looking far into to the future.

Music From Memory's final 12" for 2017 is a reissue of Dub Oven's self released, and sadly one-off, 1983 EP 'Skin N Bones'.

Pioneers in the Post Punk Industrial and New Wave scene in 1980's San Francisco, Gary Miles (Voice Farm) and Blaise Smith (Minimal Man), met at San Francisco's notorious 181 Club in December of 1982. This straight/same sex/swing-both-ways late night dive bar was tucked away in one of the city's most risky, drug riddled neighbourhoods. Stationed near the SF Museum of modern Art it attracted a wild audience of local patrons, aspiring young artists and music heads. In the thick of all this the duo felt impartial to a lot what was going on musically and set out to produce electronic music that could break through the "somewhat exhausted post disco sound that was then competing in the local San Francisco clubs". Enlisting soul vocalist Celeste Miller, the duo were also inspired by Lee 'Scratch' Perry / Upsetters dub tracks being produced in Jamaica and created a unique breed of avant guard hybrid New Wave/Electronic Funk.

With it's influences seemingly as much rooted in the past and the present as it was focused on the future, Dub Oven formed a distinct, mystical approach to music intended for the dance floor. All three tracks on this 12" embody a signature groove and an inventive synthesized abstraction to express a languishing urban unsettledness and spiritual awareness. Recorded at L7 Studios in San Francisco with the assistance of the the studio's in house producer Marco Perry (who currently now works with Bjork) the record was unfortunately overlooked by A&R at several major and even local labels and was finally self-released in very limited quantities. Utilising analog electronics and instrumentation, the record draws on elements of dub, new wave, soul and funk to create a sound that is uncategorizable and one that was perhaps simply too forward thinking for it's time.

The mood lightens finally with AWAKENING, the kind of contemplative analogue electro to put on at an afterparty at your place, once you've changed into your comfiest pyjamas. Essential.

One year after Michigan-based artist Zach Saginaw released his third album as Shigeto, a genre-blending Detroit love letter called The New Monday, he returns with another eclectic display of affection for the musical community that makes Motor City music tick. The four new tracks on his Weighted EP, including a sumptuous remix from Detroit house luminary Andrés, continue to rene and augment the patchwork of jazz, hip-hop, and electronics that Shigeto has built his catalog with.

But far be it from Saginaw to repeat himself. Whether it's the heavy, disjointed beats of "Fight Club" or the vibey house roller "The Line Up (feat. Ian Fink)," Weighted drops as many low-key surprises as it does smokey grooves. A track as blown-out and deceptively simple as "Ooh Ooh" might at rst feel like an anomaly coming from Shigeto—once the cacophonous production settles in, however, it clearly bears the mark of a master producer exing new muscles. And that's true of Weighted as a whole. Saginaw is pushing his music into fresh spaces, forming imaginative shapes while keeping his focus on the city and culture that so deeply inspires him.

Staring through the mirror. Transmitting the former self. Kurt Baggaley uncovered a theme. A theme of the ages. A theme with no clear beginning, nor end. The British producer has made a monumental effort of capturing, bending the sequence, making it's frequencies audible for everyone to hear, for the select few to understand. A 13 minute manifestation that seems to be able to go on forever. Drifting away, time seems detached, reality becomes palpable and minds become entranced. Esoteric, arcane, inscrutable. This is your former self.

Moving far between audible dimensions, Nuno dos Santos has made his next move, lifting the veil of the new release on his Something Happening Somewhere. Enlisting Kurt Baggaley for this EP, with Maeve's the Drifter delivering a staggering remix of the epic opening piece called 'Former Self'. Taking the original arrangement and making it club-ready, the Drifter does exactly what's needed, and more. Being able to keep the emotive payload intact while giving it the dancefloor treatment is more than impressive. It's a triumph.

Completing the circle on the flip side is Kurt Baggaley himself with 'Far Between'. A succumbed, deep jam, again taking it's time to unveil it's true payload: a hidden arpeggio that will only be appreciated by those who take time to listen.

Correspondant present the vinyl sampler for their 3rd label compilation. Following in the success of the previous two entries in the series, this latest edition provides a perfect snapshot of how the relatively young label has matured over three years, with contributions from a range of artists including big names (such as Roman Flügel and Chloe), close Correspondant family (like Man Power and Red Axes), and exciting new rising talent (including Bird of Paradise and Sigward).

With eight tracks, split over two records, Compilation 03 sees curator and label owner, Jennifer Cardini, displaying an even wider musical breadth than the previous two compilation incarnations, but still represents the undefinable yet unmistakable sound which truly marks out Correspondant as unique.

Denis Sulta (AKA Hector Barbour) has announced a brand new EP for his newly minted Sulta Selects off-shoot - Silver Service. Following on from the label launch, which saw Sulta tap promising Irish producer Cromby for an EP of hard hitting house and acid peak timers, comes Silver Service 002, featuring two fresh cuts from Sulta himself.

Channeling his euphoric live sets which have taken him around the globe, lead track L & S (You Mean Everything Mix) i s a modern disco classic in waiting, a lush and swirling slow-burner layered with life-affirming pianos, funk-flavoured rhythms and off-kilter synths, whilst Awake Oh Rhion zeroes back in on Sulta's twisted and spectral signature house sound.

The new EP arrives in the middle of another busy period for Sulta. Earlier this year he contributed to Radio 1's BBC Essential mix series, last month he curated and headlined his Sulta Selects FLY Open Air festival, which was hosted within a 17th-century stately home in Edinburgh and featured an all-star cast of house and disco selectors including Orla, Jayda G, Gerd Janson and more, closely followed by a prestigious Mixmag double cover feature for their October issue.

The FireScope Records adventure goes from strength to strength with release number 8, and we are very proud to present on this label Mr Derek Carr. Established in Ireland in the early 90's Derek has released many ground breaking and classic EPS for labels such as 'For Those That Knoe', 'Revoke' & 'Why So Series'.

Born and raised in Westmeath, Ireland, Derek got an early taste for finely crafted melodic techno through compilations like Network's 'Bio-Rhythms' and Warp's 'Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove'. Having been a fan of bands such as Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode through his formative years, Derek felt drawn to this new sound coming from Detroit.

In 2001 Derek launched his own label 'Trident Recordings' and released the 'Copper Beech e.p.' (the only release to date) a collection of deep soulful techno, it has since become something of a collector's item. Subsequent releases on 'Digital Soul' 'Headspace' 'Nice & Nasty' and 'Geek Records' further cemented Carr's place amongst a new generation of techno producers that looked to combine soul and melody with electronic dance floor grooves.

The EP entitled Distant Systems is a musical adventure for a quest for a new home land, a new planet, a new start, It is proper techno, proper melodies , beats and pads for this adventure. Derek is a master at creating thoughtful emotive and simply wonderful techno that fits in so naturally on FireScope Records

Terrahawk' An otherworldly techno track. The usual elements are here but somehow they convert a story quite different to the norm

Berlins premiere Bass Collective continue their march into history with yet another TKO vinyl from regular contributor Bridge Guy. His 4 originals are joined by an absolute hammer of Deepness from Jesse Bru who steps up to remix Psilocybin.

Bridge Guy is exploring Deeper sounds in this EP and Isopropyl opens proceedings with a trip of clattering percussion and synth work, all with a laid back slant. Deep enough for the heads but with a sound that just pulls you in.

The theme is somewhat continued in Lone Frenchman, but where the previous track takes a step to the left, The Lone Frenchman turns right and gets his rhythmic jam on. Tightening up the groove and laying the dancefloor to waste.

Psilocybin really pulls the bass and groove centre stage, bouncy and warm and with a whole load of rhythm in the boot. This one is for the turning point right in the middle of the night where things start to get a little more freaky.

Cheese on Toast, drops things back a touch. Thick tones and a more relaxing vibe perfect for losing yourself in, as the last of Bridge Guys originals rounds out a remarkably vibey EP.

Closing out the package we have Jesse Bru's storming remix of Psilocybin, easily up their with some of the best lo-fi House of the past few years. Jesse rings his own vocal work and really heats things up. Peak time killer.

Next up on Bicep's Feel My Bicep imprint is a fresh single from fellow Irishman Cromby, featuring two remixes from Electro stalwart DeFeKT and the ever-dependable Shanti Celeste.
Having held down a 6-year residency at Shine in his hometown of Belfast, Cromby now lives in Berlin where he has continued his ascent; having gone on to earn sets at Panorama Bar and Robert Johnson as well as a release on Denis Sulta's Silver Service label.
Now - he slots neatly into the FMB catalogue with 'Retribution' - a single that draws from his experience spent on the floor and behind the booth at clubs in Berlin, with it's stirring chords and frazzled drums.
DeFeKT's offers up a buoyant, 808-heavy take on the original while Shanti's 'Chill' mix omits the kicks in favour of her signature sunny synth tones.

Having made an impact already with releases on Permanent Vacation, Hivern Discs and Young Turks, Pional delivers two cuts of outstanding quality on Cin Cin's twelfth release. 'Time Of The G's' drops a gritty bassline and perpetual chord stabs over driving drums and a lingering vocal, whilst 'Born 2 Be Wild' seductively teases with an infectious arpeggiated melody and wistful strings over 808 drum patterns.

Taking care of the other half of the release, the Brazilian DJ & producer Davis come correct after a slew of releases for Live At Robert Johnson, Endless and Connaisseur Recordings. Spiraling marimbas and 80's synthwave aesthetics dominate 'Clone Heart' as the TR-707 led rhythm packs a punch, and on 'Delusions', Davis ramps up the energy levels for a frenetic Detroit inspired jam that leans heavily on jazz chops and motor city melodies.

Multi-city based label, La Dune, comes out swinging with a five track break-beat compilation sure to make its mark. Kicking off 2019 with a blissed-out and controlled high-energy throughout, the Cassée EP sees La Dune make their first steps on to wax.
From its primitively ethereal opening track 'Goma' by DJ RN through to the charged up jungle breaks of Cassettes For Kids' 'Lil' More', the full spectrum of break-beat in its modern form is both celebrated and explored. The exciting return of Sonter on La Dune brings us 'Valmara', a steady yet thunderous room-shaker that builds to an other-worldly second half. Completing the line up, label co-founder Jacques Torrance and additional label debut Native Cruise bring their own distinct break-beat inspired euphoria to the table with the Cassée EP flexing its sonic muscles and hitting us right where it feels good. The sky is the limit for this impressive emerging imprint.

Reissue of the debut album by Detroit electro-outfit Cybotron, 'Enter', released in 1983, it is a foundational record in the evolution of electronic dance music.

Often cited as one of the forbearers of modern techno, the record is commonly cited as the only old-school electro album with major staying power, largely due to the strength of the writing ('Alleys Of Your Mind,' 'Cosmic Cars,'

'Clear') and the harmonious collision of Juan Atkins' penchant for cosmic funk production techniques and Rick Davis' arena rock sensibilities.Most recently, the Wire cited 'Clear' as a 'groundbreaking...first-generation

piece of pure machine music,' while newer listeners may recognize it as the hook from Missy Elliott's 'Lose Control' among other major hip-hop hits.

Four years ago, friends Christian Tinner and Nikolai Stolz created the music project Hack & Nick, taking the electronic music scene by storm.

DJ Nick (Nikolai Stolz) mixes the traditional sound of dulcimer player Hack (Christian Tinner) with repetitious beats iconic of the minimalist techno movement. The result of this collaboration is unprecedented and totally awesome.

Their first single "Feels Good" came out in April 2011, followed by remixes of the track one year later. In August 2012, Hack & Nick launched their own record label "Heart Attack" and released the second single "Don't Go."

After four years of live performances, the first Hack & Nick album 'Groove Pilot" is finally here for your listening pleasure. Hear for yourself!

Tartelet Records rounds out 2018 with 'Minor Forms' by Urulu, a bumping EP that winds up the label's roster of ambitious releases to celebrate its tenth year in business. The California producer and DJ has made his mark this year with a string of standout releases on Kalahari Oyster Cult, Voyage Recordings and his own Amadeus imprint, showcasing his affection for euphoric nostalgia and tight grooves. Urulu stretches out with signature key changes and an elegant hustling tempo across four tracks, reflecting the diversity of touches and influences he has become known for. On 'Minor Forms, he teases the straight and the breakbeat with elements of jungle, electro, ambient and old school, delivering a satisfyingly moody resonance amidst the dancefloor functionality. On title track 'Minor Forms', the sounds of the past and the future exist in the present. Reeling melody lines with hints of acid, dreamy pads and drops ensure that it all makes sense on the dancefloor.

'Destino Tikal' is all about the sensuous and mysterious 'Cuerpo Pulsante' mix, which suggests shimmering sex toy flickers and takes a percussive route across its insistent 4/4 bop, adding chops, keys and Vox for a big atmospheric strut of a groove. 'DRM' wraps deep and dubby minimal bleeps, rolling breaks and a straight kick into a louche swing and funk gloop, while EP-closer 'Quasimidi' starts with a breakbeat before the thump adds the backbone and the hi-hats speed up. Pads whirl and dubby chords underpin a high speed exit from 2018 into the future. Urulu follows Max Graef, Glenn Astro, Space Ghost and others in Tartelet's 10th year, celebrating the label's commitment to work across genres.

For Shelley's on Zenn-La, Oliver Coates designs a complex of bending truths and reverse walkways to vernal states. Open ears can peer down hidden aux channel corridors, while melodic patterns present two-way mirrors to rooms of other retinal colors. An endless euphoria is just beneath the dance floorboards of Shelley's, and an inquisitiveness unencumbered by the institution of knowledge surrounding its frame and inhabitants.

Unknown Truths is the debut album from Tony Beardsley (aka Dark Strands). What can be said about this album.. for one, it is a body of work that has been crafted as a labour of love with sources of inspiration taken from the late 80's underground warehouse parties and clubs where no one speed or style of music was played.. curve balls as they say, was a good thing. Ambitious maybe.. but the only aim of the album was to actually not to have one. No one genre or concept can be applied, but this is not by design, purely accidental as the music weaves between various electronic strands and rhythm forms. Its fair to say that his music has not been compromised to follow latest trends or fashion. It is for everyone, but no one. It's only true purpose is to liberate senses and provide a lasting sonic soundtrack to the modern age.

The second installment of Argentinean record shop and label 'La Montaña Discos' includes one track of each of its founders.

For this third release on Dais, Drew McDowall reaches into concept, ritual, and immersion, in an exercise of unravelling the DNA of hallucination. The Third Helix is McDowall's product of deconstructive exploration, twisting the fibers of being into new structure, shape, pattern, and pulse, without reconstituting its inscribed template.

The result is a true third act,in McDowall's career, that has seen him peregrinate from the late-70s art-punk of the trio Poems to his work with Psychic TV and Coil throughout the 80s and 90s, into his current home of New York City, where he has composed with CSD, Compound Eye, as well his solo work. That triangulation is central to The Third Helix, as it begins with his dive into the existence of a sensory toolkit unique to McDowall before twisting faculties and reconfiguring consciousness by honoring inherent power, cognizant of memory yet agnostic of context.

With the tenet that journey is rarely linear, but rather an omnipresent oscillation of matter, sound is stripped to salient and primal, propelled by McDowall's boring into the core of memory and impulse, suturing together the silent awareness of excogitating experience.

Featuring eight new tracks of McDowall's dark, experimental electronics, including the opener "Rhizome", The Third Helix is a churning descent into emotion, provoking thought and reflection while carving out haunting space only to fill it with baffling and wondrous structures of layered sound. McDowall solidifies himself as an architect who transforms otherworldly materials into something fascinating and challenging in the process.

Unnerving, trancelike anthems for nervous meditation and anxious relaxation, fans of Coil will immediately connect and immerse, while the complex compositions welcome listen for drone and ambient enthusiasts.
