Falling Up in its original Theo Parrish version and the Carl Craig version on the same disc. Nothing more to say. Except that the Carl Craig version finally gets its proper title (also newly remastered versions of both classics, by Stefan Betke). It was never a remix as all the parts are original, created by Carl Craig. As Scott Grooves said when he first heard Norm Talley playing it; "That aint a remix, that's a full-blown Carl Craig track".

(CD version included) An inestimably valuable and definitive collection of 1988 Belgium club classics anthems produced by Rembert De Smet including hard-to-find, unreleased and rare materials. 2 black vinyl sleeved into a reversed silkscreened cardboard, including a CD version. Teasing sticker on the front with shrink wrapping on top.

New Beat, the musical genre:
A late 80's/early 90's short-lived, local and amazing underground dance movement from Belgium. It main influence is to be found in the EBM/New Wave/Industrial musical genre (Throbbing Gristle, Neon Judgement, Front 242) with a typical extra slowed down tempo signature. New Beat ruled the dancefloors, eventually evolved to harder sounds, took the charts by storm without the help of the radios. It was independant and out of control before being commercially exploited to death by the most unscrupulous and then collapsed.

Ro Maron, the Artist:
Before the explosion of the New Beat scene in 1988, multi-instrumentist & producer extraordinaire Rembert De Smet enjoyed popular success with his group 2 Belgen.
He was one of the early bird to got on the New Beat train, locked himself deep into the studio and started producing music non-stop: sometimes solo under the monicker Ro Maron or Agaric, sometimes with collaborators like Ferre Baelen from TC Matic or Maurice Engelen from Praga Khan.
Producing without a pause and getting it out a week after was the plan, as one knew that this golden era wouldn't last forever, only some of the music would.
Mainly released on now defunct labels like Kaos Dance, Antler Subway, Dance Opera or MG Records to name a few, the best of it and beyond is compiled here.

Collecting definitive and inestimably valuable works by key dance producers from the past and digging with them classics, hard-to-find and unreleased gems from their vaults for your sole and only pleasure. And pleasure is our business. Stay tuned for more around New Beat.

Fantastic new 12' compilation featuring four more wonderful sunkissed obscurities unearthed from the vaults of the Balearica camp, including three must-have floor filling cover versions. First up is 'Don't Stop The Music' by Bits & Pieces, a superb Sly & Robbie produced disco reggae take on the Yarbrough & Peoples classic that found favour at the Paradise Garage as well as on the dancefloors of Ibiza. Next up is the equally brilliant and in-demand Staple Singers' interpretation of The Talking Heads' 'Slippery People', a sure fire party starter. The flipside sees Eric's Friends turn in a great Italo disco rework of Clapton's rock classic 'Cocaine', a hard to find gem from 1983 which is a big favourite of DJ Harvey and Daniel Wang. Rounding off the EP is Brian Briggs' Loft / Balearic classic 'AEO', a sublime masterpiece combining African-style chants, beautiful synth riffs and artificial bird calls to create a stunning dreamy soundscape that deserves all its accolades.
